Abstract: The extensive number of engineering drawing will be referred for planning process and the changes will produce a good engineering design to meet the demand in producing a new model. The advantage in reuse of engineering designs is to allow continuous product development to further improve the quality of product development, thus reduce the development costs. However, to retrieve the existing engineering drawing, it is time consuming, a complex process and are expose to errors. Engineering drawing file searching system will be proposed to solve this problem. It is essential for engineer and designer to have some sort of medium to enable them to search for drawing in the most effective way. This paper lays out the proposed research project under the area of information extraction in engineering drawing.
Abstract: This paper utilizes a finite element analysis to study
the bearing capacity of ring footings on a two-layered soil. The upper
layer, that the footing is placed on it, is soft clay and the underneath
layer is a cohesionless sand. For modeling soils, Mohr–Coulomb
plastic yield criterion is employed. The effects of two factors, the
clay layer thickness and the ratio of internal radius of the ring footing
to external radius of the ring, have been analyzed. It is found that the
bearing capacity decreases as the value of ri / ro increases.
Although, as the clay layer thickness increases the bearing capacity
was alleviated gradually.
Abstract: Attracting ferromagnetic forces between magnet and reaction rail provide the supporting force in Electromagnetic Suspension. Miniature maglev using permanent magnets and electromagnets is based on the idea to generate the nominal magnetic force by permanent magnets and superimpose the variable magnetic field required for stabilization by currents flowing through control windings in electromagnets. Permanent magnets with a high energy density have lower power losses with regard to supporting force and magnet weight. So the advantage of the maglev using electromagnets and permanent magnets is partially reduced by the power required to feed the remaining onboard supply system so that the overall onboard power is diminished as compared to that of the electromagnet. In this paper we proposed the how to design and control the miniature maglev and confirmed the feasibility of the levitation system using electromagnets and permanent magnets through the manufacturing the miniature maglev

Abstract: A novel approach to speech coding using the hybrid architecture is presented. Advantages of parametric and perceptual coding methods are utilized together in order to create a speech coding algorithm assuring better signal quality than in traditional CELP parametric codec. Two approaches are discussed. One is based on selection of voiced signal components that are encoded using parametric algorithm, unvoiced components that are encoded perceptually and transients that remain unencoded. The second approach uses perceptual encoding of the residual signal in CELP codec. The algorithm applied for precise transient selection is described. Signal quality achieved using the proposed hybrid codec is compared to quality of some standard speech codecs.
Abstract: In this paper, the dynamic analysis of fuel storage
tanks has been studied and some equations are presented for the
created fluid waves due to storage tank motions. Also, the equations
for finite elements of fluid and structure interactions, and boundary
conditions dominant on structure and fluid, were researched. In this
paper, a numerical simulation is performed for the dynamic analysis
of a storage tank contained a fluid. This simulation has carried out by
ANSYS software, using FSI solver (Fluid and Structure Interaction
solver), and by considering the simulated fluid dynamic motions due
to earthquake loading, based on velocities and movements of
structure and fluid according to all boundary conditions dominant on
structure and fluid.
Abstract: Unified Speech Audio Coding (USAC), the latest MPEG standardization for unified speech and audio coding, uses a speech/audio classification algorithm to distinguish speech and audio segments of the input signal. The quality of the recovered audio can be increased by well-designed orchestra/percussion classification and subsequent processing. However, owing to the shortcoming of the system, introducing an orchestra/percussion classification and modifying subsequent processing can enormously increase the quality of the recovered audio. This paper proposes an orchestra/percussion classification algorithm for the USAC system which only extracts 3 scales of Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) rather than traditional 13 scales of MFCCs and use Iterative Dichotomiser 3 (ID3) Decision Tree rather than other complex learning method, thus the proposed algorithm has lower computing complexity than most existing algorithms. Considering that frequent changing of attributes may lead to quality loss of the recovered audio signal, this paper also design a modified subsequent process to help the whole classification system reach an accurate rate as high as 97% which is comparable to classical 99%.
Abstract: Terminal localization for indoor Wireless Local Area
Networks (WLANs) is critical for the deployment of location-aware
computing inside of buildings. A major challenge is obtaining high
localization accuracy in presence of fluctuations of the received signal
strength (RSS) measurements caused by multipath fading. This paper
focuses on reducing the effect of the distance-varying noise by spatial
filtering of the measured RSS. Two different survey point geometries
are tested with the noise reduction technique: survey points arranged
in sets of clusters and survey points uniformly distributed over the
network area. The results show that the location accuracy improves
by 16% when the filter is used and by 18% when the filter is applied
to a clustered survey set as opposed to a straight-line survey set.
The estimated locations are within 2 m of the true location, which
indicates that clustering the survey points provides better localization
accuracy due to superior noise removal.
Abstract: In this paper, the problem of reducing switching
activity in on-chip buses at the stage of high-level synthesis is
considered, and a high-level low power bus binding based on dynamic
bit reordering is proposed. Whereas conventional methods use a fixed
bit ordering between variables within a bus, the proposed method
switches a bit ordering dynamically to obtain a switching activity
reduction. As a result, the proposed method finds a binding solution
with a smaller value of total switching activity (TSA). Experimental
result shows that the proposed method obtains a binding solution
having 12.0-34.9% smaller TSA compared with the conventional
methods.

Abstract: The aim of the study was to identify seat belt wearing
factor among road users in Malaysia. Evidence-based approach
through in-depth crash investigation was utilised to determine the
intended objectives. The objective was scoped into crashes
investigated by Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research
(MIROS) involving passenger vehicles within 2007 and 2010. Crash
information of a total of 99 crash cases involving 240 vehicles and
864 occupants were obtained during the study period. Statistical test
and logistic regression analysis have been performed. Results of the
analysis revealed that gender, seat position and age were associated
with seat belt wearing compliance in Malaysia. Males are 97.6%
more likely to wear seat belt compared to females (95% CI 1.317 to
2.964). By seat position, the finding indicates that frontal occupants
were 82 times more likely to be wearing seat belt (95% CI 30.199 to
225.342) as compared to rear occupants. It is also important to note
that the odds of seat belt wearing increased by about 2.64% (95% CI
1.0176 to 1.0353) for every one year increase in age. This study is
essential in understanding the Malaysian tendency in belting up
while being occupied in a vehicle. The factors highlighted in this
study should be emphasized in road safety education in order to
increase seat belt wearing rate in this country and ultimately in
preventing deaths due to road crashes.
Abstract: This paper proposes a low power SRAM based on
five transistor SRAM cell. Proposed SRAM uses novel word-line
decoding such that, during read/write operation, only selected cell
connected to bit-line whereas, in conventional SRAM (CV-SRAM),
all cells in selected row connected to their bit-lines, which in turn
develops differential voltages across all bit-lines, and this makes
energy consumption on unselected bit-lines. In proposed SRAM
memory array divided into two halves and this causes data-line
capacitance to reduce. Also proposed SRAM uses one bit-line and
thus has lower bit-line leakage compared to CV-SRAM.
Furthermore, the proposed SRAM incurs no area overhead, and has
comparable read/write performance versus the CV-SRAM.
Simulation results in standard 0.25μm CMOS technology shows in
worst case proposed SRAM has 80% smaller dynamic energy
consumption in each cycle compared to CV-SRAM. Besides, energy
consumption in each cycle of proposed SRAM and CV-SRAM
investigated analytically, the results of which are in good agreement
with the simulation results.
Abstract: With major technological advances and to reduce the
cost of training apprentices for real-time critical systems, it was
necessary the development of Intelligent Tutoring Systems for
training apprentices in these systems. These systems, in general, have
interactive features so that the learning is actually more efficient,
making the learner more familiar with the mechanism in question. In
the home stage of learning, tests are performed to obtain the student's
income, a measure on their use. The aim of this paper is to present a
framework to model an Intelligent Tutoring Systems using the UML
language. The various steps of the analysis are considered the
diagrams required to build a general model, whose purpose is to
present the different perspectives of its development.
Abstract: Clustering large populations is an important problem
when the data contain noise and different shapes. A good clustering
algorithm or approach should be efficient enough to detect clusters
sensitively. Besides space complexity, time complexity also gains
importance as the size grows. Using hierarchies we developed a new
algorithm to split attributes according to the values they have and
choosing the dimension for splitting so as to divide the database
roughly into equal parts as much as possible. At each node we
calculate some certain descriptive statistical features of the data
which reside and by pruning we generate the natural clusters with a
complexity of O(n).
Abstract: Wireless mobile communications have experienced
the phenomenal growth through last decades. The advances in
wireless mobile technologies have brought about a demand for high
quality multimedia applications and services. For such applications
and services to work, signaling protocol is required for establishing,
maintaining and tearing down multimedia sessions. The Session
Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an application layer signaling protocols,
based on request/response transaction model. This paper considers
SIP INVITE transaction over an unreliable medium, since it has been
recently modified in Request for Comments (RFC) 6026. In order to
help in assuring that the functional correctness of this modification is
achieved, the SIP INVITE transaction is modeled and analyzed using
Colored Petri Nets (CPNs). Based on the model analysis, it is
concluded that the SIP INVITE transaction is free of livelocks and
dead codes, and in the same time it has both desirable and
undesirable deadlocks. Therefore, SIP INVITE transaction should be
subjected for additional updates in order to eliminate undesirable
deadlocks. In order to reduce the cost of implementation and
maintenance of SIP, additional remodeling of the SIP INVITE
transaction is recommended.
Abstract: The model-based approach to user interface design relies on developing separate models that are capturing various aspects about users, tasks, application domain, presentation and dialog representations. This paper presents a task modeling approach for user interface design and aims at exploring the mappings between task, domain and presentation models. The basic idea of our approach is to identify typical configurations in task and domain models and to investigate how they relate each other. A special emphasis is put on application-specific functions and mappings between domain objects and operational task structures. In this respect, we will distinguish between three layers in the task decomposition: a functional layer, a planning layer, and an operational layer.

distributed collaborative visualization (DCV) system before finally
proposing an novel prototype. The prototype provides a well-defined
three level modules especially work as Central Visualization Server,
Local Proxy Server and Visualization Aid Environment, by which
data and control for collaboration move through them followed the
previous dataflow model. With aid of this triple hierarchy architecture
of that, IBR oriented application construction turns to be easy. The
employed augmented collaboration strategy not only achieve
convenient multiple users synchronous control and stable processing
management, but also is extendable and scalable.
Abstract: Macrobenthos distribution along the coastal waters of
Penang National Park was studid to estimate the effect of different
environmental parameters at three stations, during six sampling
months, from June 2010 to April 2011. The aim of this survey was to
investigate different environment stress over soft bottom polychaete
community along Teluk Ketapang and Pantai Acheh (Penang
National Park) over a year period. Variations in the polychaete
community were evaluated using univariate and multivariate
methods. A total of 604 individuals were examined which was
grouped into 23 families. Family Nereidae was the most abundant
(22.68%), followed by Spionidae (22.02%), Hesionidae (12.58%),
Nephtylidae (9.27%) and Orbiniidae (8.61%). It is noticeable that
good results can only be obtained on the basis of good taxonomic
resolution. The maximum Shannon-Wiener diversity (H'=2.16) was
recorded at distance 200m and 1200m (August 2010) in Teluk
Ketapang and lowest value of diversity was found at distance 1200m
(December 2010) in Teluk Ketapang.
