Abstract: Water contamination by toxic compound is one of the serious environmental problems today. These toxic compounds mostly originated from industrial effluents, agriculture, natural sources and human waste. These studies focus on modification of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) with nanoparticle of calixarene and explore the possibility of using this modification for the remediation of cadmium in water. The nanocomposites were prepared by dissolving calixarene in chloroform solution as solvent, followed by additional multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) then sonication process for 3 hour and fabricated the nanocomposites on substrate by spin coating method. Finally, the nanocomposites were tested on cadmium ion (10 mg/ml). The morphology of nanocomposites was investigated by FESEM showing the formation of calixarene on the outer walls of carbon nanotube and cadmium ion also clearly seen from the micrograph. This formation was supported by using energy dispersive x-ray (EDX). The presence of cadmium ions in the films, leads to some changes in the surface potential and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).The nanocomposites MWCNTs-calixarene have potential for development of sensor for pollutant monitoring and nanoelectronics devices applications.
Abstract: Recent research in neural networks science and
neuroscience for modeling complex time series data and statistical
learning has focused mostly on learning from high input space and
signals. Local linear models are a strong choice for modeling local
nonlinearity in data series. Locally weighted projection regression is
a flexible and powerful algorithm for nonlinear approximation in
high dimensional signal spaces. In this paper, different learning
scenario of one and two dimensional data series with different
distributions are investigated for simulation and further noise is
inputted to data distribution for making different disordered
distribution in time series data and for evaluation of algorithm in
locality prediction of nonlinearity. Then, the performance of this
algorithm is simulated and also when the distribution of data is high
or when the number of data is less the sensitivity of this approach to
data distribution and influence of important parameter of local
validity in this algorithm with different data distribution is explained.
Abstract: A new method for determining the distribution of
birefringence and linear dichroism in optical polymer materials is
presented. The method is based on the use of polarizationholographic
diffraction grating that forms an orthogonal circular basis
in the process of diffraction of probing laser beam on the grating. The
intensities ratio of the orders of diffraction on this grating enables the
value of birefringence and linear dichroism in the sample to be
determined. The distribution of birefringence in the sample is
determined by scanning with a circularly polarized beam with a
wavelength far from the absorption band of the material. If the
scanning is carried out by probing beam with the wavelength near to
a maximum of the absorption band of the chromophore then the
distribution of linear dichroism can be determined. An appropriate
theoretical model of this method is presented. A laboratory setup was
created for the proposed method. An optical scheme of the laboratory
setup is presented. The results of measurement in polymer films with
two-dimensional gradient distribution of birefringence and linear
dichroism are discussed.
Abstract: The present study was done to evaluate the presence
of tetracycline resistance genes in Lactococcus garvieae isolated
from cultured rainbow trout, West Iran. The isolates were examined
for antimicrobial resistance using disc diffusion method. Of the 49
strains tested, 19 were resistant to tetracycline (38.7%), 32 to
enrofloxacin (65.3%), 21 to erythromycin (42.8%), 20 to
chloramphenicol and trimetoprim-sulfamethoxazole (40.8%). The
strains were then characterized for their genotypic resistance profiles.
The results revealed that all 49 isolates contained at least one of the
tetracycline resistance genes. Tet (A) was found in 89.4% of
tetracycline resistant isolates and the frequency of other gene were as
follows: tet (E) 42.1%, tet (B) 47.3%, tet (D) 15.7%, tet (L) 26.3%,
tet (K) 52.6%, tet (G) 36.8%, tet (34) 21%, tet (S) 63.1%, tet (C)
57.8%, tet (M) 73.6%, tet (O) 42.1%. The results revealed high levels
of antibiotic resistance in L. garvieae strains which is a potential
danger for trout culture as well as for public health.
Abstract: A thermosyphon system is a heat transfer loop which
operates on the basis of gravity and buoyancy forces. It guarantees a
good reliability and low maintenance cost as it does not involve any
mechanical pump. Therefore, it can be used in many industrial
applications such as refrigeration and air conditioning, electronic
cooling, nuclear reactors, geothermal heat extraction, etc. But flow
instabilities and loop configuration are the major problems in this
system. Several previous researchers studied that stabilities can be
suppressed by using nanofluids as loop fluid. In the present study a
rectangular thermosyphon loop with end heat exchangers are
considered for the study. This configuration is more appropriate for
many practical applications such as solar water heater, geothermal
heat extraction, etc. In the present work, steady-state analysis is
carried out on thermosyphon loop with parallel flow coaxial heat
exchangers at heat source and heat sink. In this loop nanofluid is
considered as the loop fluid and water is considered as the external
fluid in both hot and cold heat exchangers. For this analysis onedimensional
homogeneous model is developed. In this model,
conservation equations like conservation of mass, momentum, energy
are discretized using finite difference method. A computer code is
written in MATLAB to simulate the flow in thermosyphon loop. A
comparison in terms of heat transfer is made between water and
nanofluid as working fluids in the loop.
Abstract: In this paper we describe the Levenvberg-Marquardt
(LM) algorithm for identification and equalization of CDMA
signals received by an antenna array in communication channels.
The synthesis explains the digital separation and equalization of
signals after propagation through multipath generating intersymbol
interference (ISI). Exploiting discrete data transmitted and three
diversities induced at the reception, the problem can be composed
by the Block Component Decomposition (BCD) of a tensor of
order 3 which is a new tensor decomposition generalizing the
PARAFAC decomposition. We optimize the BCD decomposition by
Levenvberg-Marquardt method gives encouraging results compared to
classical alternating least squares algorithm (ALS). In the equalization
part, we use the Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE) to perform
the presented method. The simulation results using the LM algorithm
are important.
Abstract: Alkylated silicon nanocrystals (C11-SiNCs) were
prepared successfully by galvanostatic etching of p-Si(100) wafers
followed by a thermal hydrosilation reaction of 1-undecene in
refluxing toluene in order to extract C11-SiNCs from porous silicon.
Erbium trichloride was added to alkylated SiNCs using a simple
mixing chemical route. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first
investigation on mixing SiNCs with erbium ions (III) by this
chemical method. The chemical characterization of C11-SiNCs and
their mixtures with Er3+(Er/C11-SiNCs) were carried out using X-ray
photoemission spectroscopy (XPS). The optical properties of C11-
SiNCs and their mixtures with Er3+ were investigated using Raman
spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL). The erbium mixed
alkylated SiNCs shows an orange PL emission peak at around 595
nm that originates from radiative recombination of Si. Er/C11-SiNCs
mixture also exhibits a weak PL emission peak at 1536 nm that
originates from the intra-4f transition in erbium ions (Er3+). The PL
peak of Si in Er/C11-SiNCs mixture is increased in the intensity up to
three times as compared to pure C11-SiNCs. The collected data
suggest that this chemical mixing route leads instead to a transfer of
energy from erbium ions to alkylated SiNCs.

assigning seat to candidate based on SAM.
Abstract: In this study which has been conducted in Akçasu
Forest Range District of Devrek Forest Directorate; 3 methods (weed
control with labourer power, cover removal with Hitachi F20
Excavator, and weed control with agricultural equipment mounted on
a Ferguson 240S agriculture tractor) were utilized in weed control
efforts in regeneration of degraded oriental beech forests have been
compared. In this respect, 3 methods have been compared by
determining certain work hours and standard durations of unit areas
(1 hectare). For this purpose, evaluating the tasks made with human
and machine force from the aspects of duration, productivity and
costs, it has been aimed to determine the most productive method in
accordance with the actual ecological conditions of research field.
Within the scope of the study, the time studies have been conducted
for 3 methods used in weed control efforts. While carrying out those
studies, the performed implementations have been evaluated by
dividing them into business stages. Also, the actual data have been
used while calculating the cost accounts. In those calculations, the
latest formulas and equations which are also used in developed
countries have been utilized. The variance of analysis (ANOVA) was
used in order to determine whether there is any statistically
significant difference among obtained results, and the Duncan test
was used for grouping if there is significant difference. According to
the measurements and findings carried out within the scope of this
study, it has been found during living cover removal efforts in
regeneration efforts in demolished oriental beech forests that the
removal of weed layer in 1 hectare of field has taken 920 hours with
labourer force, 15.1 hours with excavator and 60 hours with an
equipment mounted on a tractor. On the other hand, it has been
determined that the cost of removal of living cover in unit area (1
hectare) was 3220.00 TL for labourer power, 1250 TL for excavator
and 1825 TL for equipment mounted on a tractor.
According to the obtained results, it has been found that the
utilization of excavator in weed control effort in regeneration of
degraded oriental beech regions under actual ecological conditions of
research field has been found to be more productive from both of
aspects of duration and costs. These determinations carried out
should be repeated in weed control efforts in degraded forest fields
with different ecological conditions, it is compulsory for finding the
most efficient weed control method. These findings will light the way
of technical staff of forestry directorate in determination of the most
effective and economic weed control method. Thus, the more actual
data will be used while preparing the weed control budgets, and there
will be significant contributions to national economy. Also the results of this and similar studies are very important for developing the policies for our forestry in short and long term.
Abstract: Taking the design tolerance into account, this paper
presents a novel efficient approach to generate iso-scallop tool path for
five-axis strip machining with a barrel cutter. The cutter location is
first determined on the scallop surface instead of the design surface,
and then the cutter is adjusted to locate the optimal tool position based
on the differential rotation of the tool axis and satisfies the design
tolerance simultaneously. The machining strip width and error are
calculated with the aid of the grazing curve of the cutter. Based on the
proposed tool positioning algorithm, the tool paths are generated by
keeping the scallop height formed by adjacent tool paths constant. An
example is conducted to confirm the validity of the proposed method.
Abstract: Bamboo is extensively used in construction industry.
Low durability of bamboo due to fungus infestation and termites
attack under storage puts certain constrains for it usage as modern
structural material. Looking at many chemical formulations for
bamboo treatment leading to severe harmful environment effects,
research on eco-friendly preservatives for bamboo treatment has been
initiated world-over. In the present studies, eco-friendly preservative
for bamboo treatment has been developed. To validate its application
for structural purposes, investigation of effect of treatment on
compressive strength has been investigated. Neemoil (25%)
integrated with copper naphthenate (0.3%) on dilution with kerosene
oil impregnated into bamboo culm at 2 bar pressure, has shown
weight loss of only 3.15% in soil block analysis method. The results
from compressive strength analysis using HEICO Automatic
Compression Testing Machine reveal that preservative treatment has
not altered the structural properties of bamboo culms. Compressive
strength of control (11.72 N/mm2) and above treated samples (11.71
N/mm2) was found to be comparable.
Abstract: Carbon nanotube is one of the most attractive materials
for the potential applications of nanotechnology due to its excellent
mechanical, thermal, electrical and optical properties. In this paper we
report a supercapacitor made of nickel foil electrodes, coated with
multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) thin film using
electrophoretic deposition (EPD) method. Chemical vapor deposition
method was used for the growth of MWCNTs and ethanol was used as
a hydrocarbon source. High graphitic multiwall carbon nanotube was
found at 750oC analyzing by Raman spectroscopy. We observed the
electrochemical performance of supercapacitor by cyclic
voltammetry. The electrodes of supercapacitor fabricated from
MWCNTs exhibit considerably small equivalent series resistance
(ESR), and a high specific power density. Electrophoretic deposition
is an easy method in fabricating MWCNT electrodes for high
performance supercapacitor.

Abstract: Today’s modern interconnected power system is
highly complex in nature. In this, one of the most important
requirements during the operation of the electric power system is the
reliability and security. Power and frequency oscillation damping
mechanism improve the reliability. Because of power system
stabilizer (PSS) low speed response against of major fault such as
three phase short circuit, FACTs devise that can control the network
condition in very fast time, are becoming popular. But FACTs
capability can be seen in a major fault present when nonlinear models
of FACTs devise and power system equipment are applied. To realize
this aim, the model of multi-machine power system with FACTs
controller is developed in MATLAB/SIMULINK using Sim Power
System (SPS) blockiest. Among the FACTs device, Static
synchronous series compensator (SSSC) due to high speed changes
its reactance characteristic inductive to capacitive, is effective power
flow controller. Tuning process of controller parameter can be
performed using different method. But Genetic Algorithm (GA)
ability tends to use it in controller parameter tuning process. In this
paper firstly POD controller is used to power oscillation damping.
But in this station, frequency oscillation dos not has proper damping
situation. So FOD controller that is tuned using GA is using that
cause to damp out frequency oscillation properly and power
oscillation damping has suitable situation.
Abstract: Learner motivation is considered to be an important
component for the Blended e-Learning (BL) Method. BL is an
effective learning method in multiple domains, which opens several
opportunities for its participants to engage in the learning
environment. This research explores the learners’ perspective of BL
according to the Self-Determination Theory (SDT). It identifies the
opportunities and challenges for using the BL in Logistics Education
(LE) in Egyptian Higher Education (HE). SDT is approached from
different perspectives within the relationship between Intrinsic
Motivation (IM), Extrinsic Motivation (EM) and Amotivation (AM).
A self-administered face-to-face questionnaire was used to collect
data from learners who were geographically widely spread around
three colleges of International Transport and Logistics (CILTs) at the
Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport
(AAST&MT) in Egypt. Six hundred and sixteen undergraduates
responded to a questionnaire survey. Respondents were drawn from
three branches in Greater Cairo, Alexandria, and Port Said. The data
analysis used was SPSS 22 and AMOS 18.
Abstract: It is usually difficult for students to understand some
basic theories in learning thermal energy and power engineering
course. A new teaching method was proposed that we should introduce
the comparison research method of those theories to help them being
understood. “Homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis” teaching is
analyzed as an example by comparison research method.
Abstract: Two Lithium Disilicate (LD) glass ceramics based on
SiO2-Li2O-K2O-Al2O3 system were prepared through a glass melting
method. The glass rods were then fabricated into dental crowns via a
hot pressing at 900˚C and 850˚C in order to study the effect of the
pressing temperatures on the phase formation and microstructure of
the glasses. Different samples of as cast glass and heat treated
samples (600˚C and 700˚C) were used to press for investigating the
effect of an initial microstructure on the hot pressing technique. Xray
diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were
performed to determine the phase formation and microstructure of the
samples, respectively. XRD results show that the main crystalline
structure was Li2Si2O5 by having Li3PO4, Li0.6Al0.6Si2O6, Li2SiO3,
Ca5 (PO4)3F and SiO2 as minor phases. Glass compositions with
different heat treatment temperatures exhibited a difference phase
formations but have less effect during pressing. SEM micrographs
showed the microstructure of Li2Si2O5 as lath-like shape in all
glasses. With increasing the initial heat treatment temperature, the
longer the lath-like crystals of lithium disilicate were increased
especially when using glass heat treatment at 700˚C followed by
pressing at 900˚C. This could be suggested that LD1 heat treatment at
700˚C which pressing at 900˚C presented the best formation by the
hot pressing and compiled microstructure.
Abstract: Forging parts is used to automobiles; because, they have high strength and it is possible to press them into complicated shape. When itis possible to manufacture hollow forging parts, it leads to reduce weightof the automobiles. But, hollow forging parts are confined to axisymmetrical shape. Hollowforging parts that were pressed to complicated shape are expected. Therefore, we forge a blank that aluminum alloy was inserted in stainless steel. After that, we can providecomplex forging parts that are reduced weight, ifit is possible to be melted the aluminum alloy away by using different of melting points. It is necessary to establish heat forging analysis methodon blank consist of stainless steel and aluminum alloy. Because, this forging is different from conventional forging and this technology is not confirmed. In this study, we compared forging experiment with numerical analysis on the view point of forming load and shape after forming and establish how to set the material temperaturesof two metals and material property of stainless steel on the analysis method. Consequently, temperature difference of stainless steel and aluminum alloy was obtained by experiment. We got material property of stainless steel on forging experimental by compression tests. We had compared numerical analysis that was used the temperature difference of two metals and the material property of stainless steel on forging experimental with forging experiment. Forging analysis method on blankconsist of two metals was established by result of numerical analysis having agreedwith result of forging experiment.
Abstract: Yttrium oxide (Y2O3) films have been successfully
deposited with yttrium-ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA·Y·H)
complexes prepared by various milling techniques. The effects of the
properties of the EDTA·Y·H complex on the properties of the
deposited Y2O3 films have been analyzed. Seven different types of the
raw EDTA·Y·H complexes were prepared by various commercial
milling techniques such as ball milling, hammer milling, commercial
milling, and mortar milling. The milled EDTA·Y·H complexes
exhibited various particle sizes and distributions, depending on the
milling method. Furthermore, we analyzed the crystal structure,
morphology and elemental distribution profile of the metal oxide films
deposited on stainless steel substrate with the milled EDTA·Y·H
complexes. Depending on the milling technique, the flow properties of
the raw powders differed. The X-ray diffraction pattern of all the
samples revealed the formation of Y2O3 crystalline phase, irrespective
of the milling technique. Of all the different milling techniques, the
hammer milling technique is considered suitable for fabricating dense
Y2O3 films.
Abstract: Many problems in science and engineering field require
the solution of shifted linear systems with multiple right hand
sides and multiple shifts. To solve such systems efficiently, the
implicitly restarted global GMRES algorithm is extended in this
paper. However, the shift invariant property could no longer hold over
the augmented global Krylov subspace due to adding the harmonic
Ritz matrices. To remedy this situation, we enforce the collinearity
condition on the shifted system and propose shift implicitly restarted
global GMRES. The new method not only improves the convergence
but also has a potential to simultaneously compute approximate
solution for the shifted systems using only as many matrix vector
multiplications as the solution of the seed system requires. In
addition, some numerical experiments also confirm the effectiveness
of our method.
