Abstract: In this research, CaO-ZnO catalysts (with various
Ca:Zn atomic ratios of 1:5, 1:3, 1:1, and 3:1) prepared by incipientwetness
impregnation (IWI) and co-precipitation (CP) methods were
used as a catalyst in the transesterification of palm oil with methanol
for biodiesel production. The catalysts were characterized by several
techniques, including BET method, CO2-TPD, and Hemmett
Indicator. The effects of precursor concentration, and calcination
temperature on the catalytic performance were studied under reaction
conditions of a 15:1 methanol to oil molar ratio, 6 wt% catalyst,
reaction temperature of 60°C, and reaction time of 8 h. At Ca:Zn
atomic ratio of 1:3 gave the highest FAME value owing to a basic
properties and surface area of the prepared catalyst.
Abstract: The purpose of the study is to determine the primary mathematics student teachers- views related to use instructional technology tools in course of the learning process and to reveal how the sample presentations towards different mathematical concepts affect their views. This is a qualitative study involving twelve mathematics students from a public university. The data gathered from two semi-structural interviews. The first one was realized in the beginning of the study. After that the representations prepared by the researchers were showed to the participants. These representations contain animations, Geometer-s Sketchpad activities, video-clips, spreadsheets, and power-point presentations. The last interview was realized at the end of these representations. The data from the interviews and content analyses were transcribed and read and reread to explore the major themes. Findings revealed that the views of the students changed in this process and they believed that the instructional technology tools should be used in their classroom.
Abstract: In this paper, we analyzed the pattern of urban spatial structure of Siheung City that had been divided into two parts and presented alternative plans in order to get rid of these phenomena. Concerning patterns of urban spatial structure, we examined it through means of analyzing status of land use, population density and distribution of residence, status of distribution of main facilities, medical facilities, status of distribution of cultural facilities, distribution of land prices and traffic volume trends. The results of study revealed that status of facilities distribution and distribution of land prices, etc. were bisected by the surrounding area of former municipal office and the district of Sihwa, which were both regarded as one apex of the city divide, forming a duo-centric city. In order to get rid of this problem concerned with urban spatial structure that has been bisected, it is required that measures in order to expand facilities in Siheung City should be taken.
Abstract: NFκB is a transcription factor regulating many
function of the vessel wall. In the normal condition , NFκB is
revealed diffuse cytoplasmic expressionsuggesting that the system is
inactive. The presence of activation NFκB provide a potential
pathway for the rapid transcriptional of a variety of genes encoding
cytokines, growth factors, adhesion molecules and procoagulatory
factors. It is likely to play an important role in chronic inflamatory
disease involved atherosclerosis. There are many stimuli with the
potential to active NFκB, including hyperlipidemia. We used 24 mice
which was divided in 6 groups. The HFD given by et libitum
procedure during 2, 4, and 6 months. The parameters in this study
were the amount of NFKB activation ,H2O2 as ROS and VCAM-1 as
a product of NFKB activation. H2O2 colorimetryc assay performed
directly using Anti Rat H2O2 ELISA Kit. The NFKB and VCAM-1
detection obtained from aorta mice, measured by ELISA kit and
imunohistochemistry. There was a significant difference activation of
H2O2, NFKB and VCAM-1 level at induce HFD after 2, 4 and 6
months. It suggest that HFD induce ROS formation and increase the
activation of NFKB as one of atherosclerosis marker that caused by
hyperlipidemia as classical atheroschlerosis risk factor.

Abstract: The dental composites are preferably used as filling
materials due to their esthetic appearances. Nevertheless one of the
major problems, during the application of the dental composites, is
shape change named as “polymerisation shrinkage" affecting clinical
success of the dental restoration while photo-polymerisation.
Polymerisation shrinkage of composites arises basically from the
formation of a polymer due to the monomer transformation which
composes of an organic matrix phase. It was sought, throughout this
study, to detect and evaluate the structural polymerisation shrinkage
of prepared dental composites in order to optimize the effects of
various fillers included in hydroxyapatite (HA)-reinforced dental
composites and hence to find a means to modify the properties of
these dental composites prepared with defined parameters. As a
result, the shrinkage values of the experimental dental composites
were decreased by increasing the filler content of composites and the
composition of different fillers used had effect on the shrinkage of
the prepared composite systems.
Abstract: In over deployed sensor networks, one approach
to Conserve energy is to keep only a small subset of sensors
active at Any instant. For the coverage problems, the monitoring
area in a set of points that require sensing, called demand points, and
consider that the node coverage area is a circle of range R, where R
is the sensing range, If the Distance between a demand point and
a sensor node is less than R, the node is able to cover this point. We
consider a wireless sensor network consisting of a set of sensors
deployed randomly. A point in the monitored area is covered if it is
within the sensing range of a sensor. In some applications, when the
network is sufficiently dense, area coverage can be approximated by
guaranteeing point coverage. In this case, all the points of wireless
devices could be used to represent the whole area, and the working
sensors are supposed to cover all the sensors. We also introduce
Hybrid Algorithm and challenges related to coverage in sensor
networks.
Abstract: Although the World Wide Web is considered the
largest source of information there exists nowadays, due to its
inherent dynamic characteristics, the task of finding useful and
qualified information can become a very frustrating experience. This
study presents a research on the information mining systems in the
Web; and proposes an implementation of these systems by means of
components that can be built using the technology of Web services.
This implies that they can encompass features offered by a services
oriented architecture (SOA) and specific components may be used by
other tools, independent of platforms or programming languages.
Hence, the main objective of this work is to provide an architecture
to Web mining systems, divided into stages, where each step is a
component that will incorporate the characteristics of SOA. The
separation of these steps was designed based upon the existing
literature. Interesting results were obtained and are shown here.
Abstract: Aluminothermic rail welding was from the beginning
a great success because its low price even in 1895 in Germany. This
method is now, widely used all over the world for the railways
construction, maintenance and modernization. Instructions give you
guidelines for preparing papers for conferences or journals.
After 1989, the welding needs of the potentials beneficiaries
(Romanian Railways, Urban Transportation Companies) keep raise
because of the railways maintenance and modernization necessity.
The main materials that determine the Thermit (T) composition
result from manufacturing scraps all over the country. This can help
the environment by consuming these scraps.
The Romanian need for alumino-thermic welding is now by 11300
per year, and in a favourable economical environment, this amount
can reach 30000 units.
This paper tries to show the effect of two types of modifiers
introduced in the T composition on the structure and properties of an
alumino-thermic welding.
Abstract: Within the collaborative research center 666 a new
product development approach and the innovative manufacturing
method of linear flow splitting are being developed. So far the design process is supported by 3D-CAD models utilizing User Defined
Features in standard CAD-Systems. This paper now presents new
functions for generating 3D-models of integral sheet metal products with bifurcations using Siemens PLM NX 6. The emphasis is placed
on design and semi-automated insertion of User Defined Features.
Therefore User Defined Features for both, linear flow splitting
and its derivative linear bend splitting, were developed. In order to facilitate the modeling process, an application was developed
that guides through the insertion process. Its usability and dialog layout adapt known standard features. The work presented here has
significant implications on the quality, accurateness and efficiency of the product generation process of sheet metal products with higher
order bifurcations.
Abstract: The building sector is the largest energy consumer and
CO2 emitter in the European Union (EU) and therefore the active
reduction of energy consumption and elimination of energy wastage
are among the main goals in it. Healthy housing and energy
efficiency are affected by many factors which set challenges to
monitoring, control and research of indoor air quality (IAQ) and
energy consumption, especially in old buildings. These challenges
include measurement and equipment costs, for example.
Additionally, the measurement results are difficult to interpret and
their usage in the ventilation control is also limited when taking into
account the energy efficiency of housing at the same time. The main
goal of this study is to develop a cost-effective building monitoring
and control system especially for old buildings. The starting point or
keyword of the development process is a wireless system; otherwise
the installation costs become too high. As the main result, this paper
describes an idea of a wireless building monitoring and control
system. The first prototype of the system has been installed in 10
residential buildings and in 10 school buildings located in the City of
Kuopio, Finland.
Abstract: In this paper, a new approach for design of a fully
differential second order current mode continuous-time sigma-delta
modulator is presented. For circuit implementation, square root
domain (SRD) translinear loop based on floating-gate MOS
transistors that operate in saturation region is employed. The
modulator features, low supply voltage, low power consumption
(8mW) and high dynamic range (55dB). Simulation results confirm
that this design is suitable for data converters.
Abstract: The flow and heat transfer mechanism in convex
corrugated tubes have been investigated through numerical
simulations in this paper. Two kinds of tube types named as symmetric
corrugated tube (SCT) and asymmetric corrugated tube (ACT) are
modeled and studied numerically based on the RST model. The
predictive capability of RST model is examined in the corrugation wall
in order to check the reliability of RST model under the corrugation
wall condition. We propose a comparison between the RST modelling
the corrugation wall with existing direct numerical simulation of Maaß
C and Schumann U [14]. The numerical results pressure coefficient at
different profiles between RST and DNS are well matched. The
influences of large corrugation tough radii to heat transfer and flow
characteristic had been considered. Flow and heat transfer comparison
between SCT and ACT had been discussed. The numerical results
show that ACT exhibits higher overall heat transfer performance than
SCT.
Abstract: This paper presents a watermarking protocol able to
solve the well-known “customer-s right problem" and “unbinding
problem". In particular, the protocol has been purposely designed
to be adopted in a web context, where users wanting to buy digital
contents are usually neither provided with digital certificates issued
by certification authorities (CAs) nor able to autonomously perform
specific security actions. Furthermore, the protocol enables users to
keep their identities unexposed during web transactions as well as
allows guilty buyers, i.e. who are responsible distributors of illegal
replicas, to be unambiguously identified. Finally, the protocol has
been designed so that web content providers (CPs) can exploit
copyright protection services supplied by web service providers (SPs)
in a security context. Thus, CPs can take advantage of complex
services without having to directly implement them.
Abstract: The emergence of information technology has
resulted in an ever-increasing demand to use computers for the

developed. The paper discusses the use of Internet technology for the
farmers to take decisions. A model is developed for the farmers to
access online interactive and flexible information for their farm
management. The workflow of the model is presented highlighting
the information transfer between different modules.
Abstract: A methodology to design a nonlinear observer in a
bond graph approach is proposed. The class of nonlinear observer
with multivariable nonlinearities is considered. A junction structure
of the bond graph observer is proposed. The proposed methodology
to an electrical transformer and a DC motor including the nonlinear
saturation is applied. Nonlinear observers for the transformer and DC
motor based on multivariable circle criterion in the physical domain
are proposed. In order to show the saturation effects on the
transformer and DC motor, simulation results are obtained. Finally,
the paper describes that convergence of the estimates to the true
states is achieved.
Abstract: Dispersions of casein micelles (CM) were studied at a
constant protein concentration of 5 wt % in high NaCl environment
ranging from 0% to 12% by Dynamic light scattering (DLS) and
Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). The rehydration profiles obtained
were interpreted in term of wetting, swelling and dispersion stages by
using a turbidity method. Two behaviours were observed depending
on the salt concentration. The first behaviour (low salt concentration)
presents a typical rehydration profile with a significant change
between 3 and 6% NaCl indicating quick wetting, swelling and long
dispersion stage. On the opposite, the dispersion stage of the second
behaviour (high salt concentration) was significantly shortened
indicating a strong modification of the protein backbone. A salt
increase result to a destabilization of the micelle and the formation of
mini-micelles more or less aggregated indicating an average micelles
size ranging from 100 to 200 nm. For the first time, the estimations
of secondary structural elements (irregular, ß-sheet, α-helix and turn)
by the Amide III assignments were correlated with results from
Amide I.
Abstract: There is growing interest in biodiesel (fatty acid
methyl ester or FAME) because of the similarity in its properties
when compared to those of diesel fuels. Diesel engines operated on
biodiesel have lower emissions of carbon monoxide, unburned
hydrocarbons, particulate matter, and air toxics than when operated
on petroleum-based diesel fuel. Production of fatty acid methyl ester
(FAME) from rapeseed (nonedible oil) fatty acid distillate having
high free fatty acids (FFA) was investigated in this work. Conditions
for esterification process of rapeseed oil were 1.8 % H2SO4 as
catalyst, MeOH/oil of molar ratio 2 : 0.1 and reaction temperature
65 °C, for a period of 3h. The yield of methyl ester was > 90 % in 1
h.
The amount of FFA was reduced from 93 wt % to less than 2 wt %
at the end of the esterification process. The FAME was pureed by
neutralization with 1 M sodium hydroxide in water solution at a
reaction temperature of 62 °C. The final FAME product met with the
biodiesel quality standard, and ASTM D 6751.
Abstract: This paper analyzes the extent to which the justices of
the U.S. Supreme Court cast votes that support the positions of the
president, or more generally the Executive Branch. Can presidents
count on such deference from those justices they nominate or those
whom are nominated by other presidents of the same party? Or, do
the justices demonstrate judicial independence and impartiality such
that they are not so predisposed to vote in favor of arguments of their
nominating president-s party? The results suggest that while in
general the justices do not exhibit any marked tendency to partisan
support of presidents, more recent and conservative Supreme Court
justices are significantly more likely to support Republican
presidents.
