Abstract: This paper presents design and implements a voltage
source inverter type space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM)
for control a speed of induction motor. This scheme leads to be able
to adjust the speed of the motor by control the frequency and
amplitude of the stator voltage, the ratio of stator voltage to
frequency should be kept constant. The fuzzy logic controller is also
introduced to the system for keeping the motor speed to be constant
when the load varies. The experimental results in testing the 0.22 kW
induction motor from no-load condition to rated condition show the
effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.
Abstract: This paper presents the use of three-dimensional finite
elements coupled with infinite elements to investigate the ground
vibrations at the surface in terms of the peak particle velocity (PPV)
due to construction of the first bore of the Dublin Port Tunnel. This
situation is analysed using a commercially available general-purpose
finite element package ABAQUS. A series of parametric studies is
carried out to examine the sensitivity of the predicted vibrations to
variations in the various input parameters required by finite element
method, including the stiffness and the damping of ground. The
results of this study show that stiffness has a more significant effect
on the PPV rather than the damping of the ground.
Abstract: This paper describes the design of new method of
propagation delay measurement in micro and nanostructures during
characterization of ASIC standard library cell. Providing more
accuracy timing information about library cell to the design team we
can improve a quality of timing analysis inside of ASIC design flow
process. Also, this information could be very useful for semiconductor
foundry team to make correction in technology process. By
comparison of the propagation delay in the CMOS element and result
of analog SPICE simulation. It was implemented as digital IP core for
semiconductor manufacturing process. Specialized method helps to
observe the propagation time delay in one element of the standard-cell
library with up-to picoseconds accuracy and less. Thus, the special
useful solutions for VLSI schematic to parameters extraction, basic
cell layout verification, design simulation and verification are
announced.
Abstract: The aim of this paper is to identify an optimum
control strategy of three-phase shunt active filters to minimize the total harmonic distortion factor of the supply current. A classical PIPI cascade control solution of the output current of the active filterand the voltage across the DC capacitor based on Modulus–Optimum
criterion is taken into consideration. The control system operation
has been simulated using Matlab-Simulink environment and the results agree with the theoretical expectation. It is shown that there is
an optimum value of the DC-bus voltage which minimizes the supply current harmonic distortion factor. It corresponds to the equality of the apparent power at the output of the active filter and the apparent power across the capacitor. Finally, predicted results are verified experimentally on a MaxSine active power filter.
Abstract: In the 1980s, companies began to feel the effect of three major influences on their product development: newer and innovative technologies, increasing product complexity and larger organizations. And therefore companies were forced to look for new product development methods. This paper tries to focus on the two of new product development methods (DFM and CE). The aim of this paper is to see and analyze different product development methods specifically on Design for Manufacturability and Concurrent Engineering. Companies can achieve and be benefited by minimizing product life cycle, cost and meeting delivery schedule. This paper also presents simplified models that can be modified and used by different companies based on the companies- objective and requirements. Methodologies that are followed to do this research are case studies. Two companies were taken and analysed on the product development process. Historical data, interview were conducted on these companies in addition to that, Survey of literatures and previous research works on similar topics has been done during this research. This paper also tries to show the implementation cost benefit analysis and tries to calculate the implementation time. From this research, it has been found that the two companies did not achieve the delivery time to the customer. Some of most frequently coming products are analyzed and 50% to 80 % of their products are not delivered on time to the customers. The companies are following the traditional way of product development that is sequentially design and production method, which highly affect time to market. In the case study it is found that by implementing these new methods and by forming multi disciplinary team in designing and quality inspection; the company can reduce the workflow steps from 40 to 30.
Abstract: Contact stress is an important problem in industry.
This is a problem that in the first attention may be don-t appears, but
disregard of these stresses cause a lot of damages in machines. These
stresses occur at locations such as gear teeth, bearings, cams and
between a locomotive wheel and the railroad rail. These stresses
cause failure by excessive elastic deformation, yielding and fracture.
In this paper we intend show the effective parameters in contact
stress and ponder effect of curvature. In this paper we study contact
stresses on the surface of gear teeth and compare these stresses for
four popular profiles of gear teeth (involute, cycloid, epicycloids, and
hypocycloid). We study this problem with mathematical and finite
element methods and compare these two methods on different profile
surfaces.
Abstract: This paper has, as its point of departure, the foundational
axiomatic theory of E. De Giorgi (1996, Scuola Normale
Superiore di Pisa, Preprints di Matematica 26, 1), based on two
primitive notions of quality and relation. With the introduction of
a unary relation, we develop a system totally based on the sole
primitive notion of relation. Such a modification enables a definition
of the concept of dynamic unary relation. In this way we construct a
simple language capable to express other well known theories such
as Robinson-s arithmetic or a piece of a theory of concatenation. A
key role in this system plays an abstract relation designated by “( )",
which can be interpreted in different ways, but in this paper we will
focus on the case when we can perform computations and obtain
results.
Abstract: A vertical SOI-based MOSFET with trench body
structure operated as 1T DRAM cell at various temperatures has been
studied and investigated. Different operation temperatures are
assigned for the device for its performance comparison, thus the
thermal stability is carefully evaluated for the future memory device
applications. Based on the simulation, the vertical SOI-based
MOSFET with trench body structure demonstrates the electrical
characteristics properly and possess conspicuous kink effect at
various operation temperatures. Transient characteristics were also
performed to prove that its programming window values and
retention time behaviors are acceptable when the new 1T DRAM cell
is operated at high operation temperature.
Abstract: The most important subtype of non-Hodgkin-s
lymphoma is the Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. Approximately
40% of the patients suffering from it respond well to therapy,
whereas the remainder needs a more aggressive treatment, in order to
better their chances of survival. Data Mining techniques have helped
to identify the class of the lymphoma in an efficient manner. Despite
that, thousands of genes should be processed to obtain the results.
This paper presents a comparison of the use of various attribute
selection methods aiming to reduce the number of genes to be
searched, looking for a more effective procedure as a whole.
Abstract: A packet analyzer is a tool for debugging sensor
network systems and is convenient for developers. In this paper, we
introduce a new packet analyzer based on an embedded system. The
proposed packet analyzer is compatible with IEEE 802.15.4, which is
suitable for the wireless communication standard for sensor networks,
and is available for remote control by adopting a server-client scheme
based on the Ethernet interface. To confirm the operations of the
packet analyzer, we have developed two types of sensor nodes based
on PIC4620 and ATmega128L microprocessors and tested the
functions of the proposed packet analyzer by obtaining the packets
from the sensor nodes.
Abstract: In Content-Based Image Retrieval systems it is
important to use an efficient indexing technique in order to perform
and accelerate the search in huge databases. The used indexing
technique should also support the high dimensions of image features.
In this paper we present the hierarchical index NOHIS-tree (Non
Overlapping Hierarchical Index Structure) when we scale up to very
large databases. We also present a study of the influence of clustering
on search time. The performance test results show that NOHIS-tree
performs better than SR-tree. Tests also show that NOHIS-tree keeps
its performances in high dimensional spaces. We include the
performance test that try to determine the number of clusters in
NOHIS-tree to have the best search time.
Abstract: The picture of a perfect road construction site is the one that utilizes conventional vertical road signs and a flagman to optimize the traffic flow with minimum hazel to the public. Former research has been carried out by Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) and Ministry of Works to further enhance smoothness in traffic operations and particularly in safety issues within work zones. This paper highlights on hazardous zones in a certain road construction or road maintenance site. Most cases show that the flagman falls into high risk of fatal accidents within work zone. Various measures have been taken by both the authorities and contractors to overcome such miseries, yet it-s impossible to eliminate the usage of a flagman since it is considered the best practice. With the implementation of new technologies in automating the traffic flow in road construction site, it is possible to eliminate the usage of a flagman. The intelligent traffic light system is designed to solve problems which contribute hazardous at road construction site and to be inline with the road safety regulation which is taken into granted.
Abstract: This article reports on the studies of porous GaN prepared by ultra-violet (UV) assisted electrochemical etching in a solution of 4:1:1 HF: CH3OH:H2O2 under illumination of an UV lamp with 500 W power for 10, 25 and 35 minutes. The optical properties of porous GaN sample were compared to the corresponding as grown GaN. Porosity induced photoluminescence (PL) intensity enhancement was found in these samples. The resulting porous GaN displays blue shifted PL spectra compared to the as-grown GaN. Appearance of the blue shifted emission is correlated with the development of highly anisotropic structures in the morphology. An estimate of the size of the GaN nanostructure can be obtained with the help of a quantized state effective mass theory.
Abstract: In this paper, an overview of the radio over fiber (RoF) technology is provided. Obstacles for reducing the capital and operational expenses in the existing systems are discussed in various perspectives. Some possible RoF deployment scenarios for WiMAX
data transmission are proposed as a means for capital and operational
expenses reduction. IEEE 802.16a standard based end-to-end physical layer model is simulated including intensity modulated direct detection RoF technology. Finally the feasibility of RoF
technology to carry WiMAX signals between the base station and the
remote antenna units is demonstrated using the simulation results.
Abstract: Antioxidants contribute to endogenous photoprotection
and are important for the maintenance of skin health. The study was carried out to compare the skin hydration and transepidermal
water loss (TEWL) effects of a stable cosmetic preparation
containing flavonoids, following two applications a day over a period
of tenth week. The skin trans-epidermal water loss and skin hydration
effect was measured at the beginning and up to the end of study period of ten weeks. Any effect produced was measured by Corneometer and TEWA meter (Non-invasive probe).
Two formulations were developed for this study design. Formulation one the control formulation in which no apple juice
extract( Flavonoids) was incorporated while second one was the active formulation in which the apple juice extract (3%) containing
flavonoids was incorporated into water in oil emulsion using Abil EM 90 as an emulsifier. Stable formulations (control and Active)
were applied on human cheeks (n = 12) for a study period of 10 weeks. Result of each volunteer of skin hydration and TEWL was
measured by corneometer and TEWA meter. By using ANOVA and Paired sample t test as a statistical evaluation, result of both base and
formulation were compared. Statistical significant results (p≤0.05)
were observed regarding skin hydration and TEWL when two creams, control and Formulation were compared. It showed that
desired formulation (Active) may have interesting application as an
active moisturizing cream on healthy skin.
Abstract: During the last decade some long lasting changes and
developments are shaping the global society. The world is entering a
new society which is already named as information or knowledge
society. In the paper, information/knowledge society is elaborated
first. Starting in the year 2000, European Union has initiated some
special projects such as eEurope and eEurope+ and activities such as

Abstract: The equilibrium process of plasma nitrogen species by
chemical kinetic reactions along various pressures is successfully
investigated. The equilibrium process is required in industrial
application to obtain the stable condition when heating up the
material for having homogenous reaction. Nitrogen species densities
is modeled by a continuity equation and extended Arrhenius form.
These equations are used to integrate the change of density over the
time. The integration is to acquire density and the reaction rate of
each reaction where temperature and time dependence are imposed.
A comparison is made with global model within pressure range of 1-
100mTorr and the temperature of electron is set to be higher than
other nitrogen species. The results shows that the chemical kinetic
model only agrees for high pressure because of no power imposed;
while the global model considers the external power along the
pressure range then the electron and nitrogen species give highly
quantity densities by factor of 3 to 5.
Abstract: This paper explores the idea of globalisation and
considers accounting-s role in that process in order to develop new
spaces for accounting research. That-s why in this paper we are

Abstract: With a rapid growth in 3D graphics technology over the last few years, people are desired to see more flexible reacting motions of a biped in animations. In particular, it is impossible to anticipate all reacting motions of a biped while facing a perturbation. In this paper, we propose a three-level tracking method for animating a 3D humanoid character. First, we take the laws of physics into account to attach physical attributes, such as mass, gravity, friction, collision, contact, and torque, to bones and joints of a character. The next step is to employ PD controller to follow a reference motion as closely as possible. Once the character cannot tolerate a strong perturbation to prevent itself from falling down, we are capable of tracking a desirable falling-down action to avoid any falling condition inaccuracy. From the experimental results, we demonstrate the effectiveness and flexibility of the proposed method in comparison with conventional data-driven approaches.
