Abstract: Large-scale data stream analysis has become one of
the important business and research priorities lately. Social networks
like Twitter and other micro-blogging platforms hold an enormous
amount of data that is large in volume, velocity and variety.
Extracting valuable information and trends out of these data would
aid in a better understanding and decision-making. Multiple analysis
techniques are deployed for English content. Moreover, one of the
languages that produce a large amount of data over social networks
and is least analyzed is the Arabic language. The proposed paper is a
survey on the research efforts to analyze the Arabic content in
Twitter focusing on the tools and methods used to extract the
sentiments for the Arabic content on Twitter.
Abstract: In this work, we study the behavior of introducing
atomic size vacancy in a graphene nanoribbon superlattice. Our
investigations are based on the density functional theory (DFT) with
the Local Density Approximation in Atomistix Toolkit (ATK). We
show that, in addition to its shape, the position of vacancy has a
major impact on the electrical properties of a graphene nanoribbon
superlattice. We show that the band gap of an armchair graphene
nanoribbon may be tuned by introducing an appropriate periodic
pattern of vacancies. The band gap changes in a zig-zag manner
similar to the variation of band gap of a graphene nanoribbon by
changing its width.
Abstract: A strain of Monascus purpureus CMU001 was used to
prepare red yeast rice from Thai glutinous rice Korkor 6 (RD 6).
Adding of different amounts of histidine (156, 312, 625 and 1250 mg
in 100 g of rice grains)) under aerobic and air limitation (air-lock)
condition were used in solid fermentation. Determination of the yield
as well as monacolin K content was done. Citrinin content was also
determined in order to confirm the safety use of prepared red yeast
rice. It was found that under air-lock condition with 1250 mg of
histidine addition gave the highest yield of 37.40 g of dried red yeast
rice prepared from 100 g of rice. Highest 5.72 mg content of
monacolin K was obtained under air-lock condition with 312 mg
histidine addition. In the other hand, citrinin content was found to be
less than 24462 ng/g of all dried red yeast rice samples under the
experimental methods used in this work.
Abstract: Lead being a toxic heavy metal that mankind is
exposed to the highest levels of this metal from environmental
pollutants. A total of 180 Male scalp hair samples were collected
from different environments in Greater Cairo (GC), i.e. industrial,
heavy traffic and rural areas (60 samples from each) having different
activities during the period of, 1/5/2010 to 1/11/2012. Hair samples
were collected during five stages. Data proved that the concentration
of lead in male industrial areas of Cairo ranged between 6.2847 to
19.0432 μg/g, with mean value of 12.3288 μg/g. On the other hand,
lead content of hair samples of residential-traffic areas ranged
between 2.8634 to 16.3311 μg/g with mean value of 9.7552 μg/g.
While lead concentration on the hair of the male residents living in
rural area ranged between 1.0499-9.0402μg/g with mean value of
4.7327 μg/g. The Pb concentration in scalp hair of Cairo residents of
residential-traffic and rural traffic areas was observed to follow the
same pattern. The pattern was that of decrease concentration of
summer and its increase in winter. Then, there was a marked increase
in Pb concentration of summer 2012, and this increase was
significant. These were obviously seen for the residential-traffic and
rural areas residents. Pb pollution in residents of industrial areas
showed the same seasonal pattern, but there was marked to decrease
in Pb concentration of summer 2012, and this decrease was
significant. Lead pollution in residents of GC was serious. It is worth
noting that the atmosphere is still contaminated by lead despite a
decade of using unleaded gasoline. Strong seasonal variation in
higher Pb concentration on winter than in summer was found. Major
contributions to the pollution with Pb could include industry
emissions, motor vehicle emissions and long transported dust from
outside Cairo. More attention should be paid to the reduction of Pb
content of the urban aerosol and to the Pb pollution health.
Abstract: In this paper it was examined the influence of margin
regulation on stock market volatility in EU 1993 – 2014. Regulating
margin requirements or haircuts for securities financing transactions
has for a long time been considered as a potential tool to limit the
build-up of leverage and dampen volatility in financial markets. The
margin requirement dictates how much investors can borrow against
these securities. Margin can be an important part of investment.
Using daily and monthly stock returns and there is no convincing
evidence that EU Regulation margin requirements have served to
dampen stock market volatility. In this paper was detected the
expected negative relation between margin requirements and the
amount of margin credit outstanding. Also, it confirmed that changes
in margin requirements by the EU regulation have tended to follow
than lead changes in market volatility. For the analysis have been
used the modified Levene statistics to test whether the standard
deviation of stock returns in the 25, 50 and 100 days preceding
margin changes is the same as that in the succeeding 25, 50 and 100
days. The analysis started in May 1993 when it was first empowered
to set the initial margin requirement and the last sample was in May
2014. To test whether margin requirements influence stock market
volatility over the long term, the sample of stock returns was divided
into 14 periods, according to the 14 changes in margin requirements.
Abstract: Azadirachta excelsa or locally known as sentang are
frequently used as a traditional medicine by diabetes patients in
Malaysia. However, less attention has been given to their toxicity
effect. Thus, the study is an attempt to examine the protective effect
of A. excelsa on the pancreas and to determine possible toxicity
mediated by the extract. Diabetes was induced experimentally in rats
by high-fat-diet for 16 weeks followed by intraperitoneal injection of
streptozotocin at dosage of 35 mg/kg of body weight. Declination of
the fasting blood glucose level was observed after continuous
administration of A. excelsa for 14 days twice daily. This is due to the
refining structure of the pancreas. However, surprisingly, the plant
extract reduced the leukocytes, erythrocytes, hemoglobin, MCHC and
lymphocytes. In addition, the rat treated with the plant extract
exhibited increment in AST and eosinocytes level. Overall, the
finding shows that A. excelsa possesses antidiabetic activity by
improving the structure of pancreatic islet of Langerhans but
involved in ameliorating of hematology and biochemical parameters.
Abstract: In this study, six bacterial isolates of a slightly
thermophilic organism from the Sg. Klah hot spring, Malaysia were
successfully isolated and designated as M7T55D1, M7T55D2,
M7T55D3, M7T53D1, M7T53D2 and M7T53D3 respectively. The
bacterial isolates were screened for their cellulose hydrolytic ability
on Carboxymethlycellulose agar medium. The isolated bacterial
strains were identified morphologically, biochemically and
molecularly with the aid of 16S rDNA sequencing. All of the bacteria
showed their optimum growth at a slightly alkaline pH of 7.5 with a
temperature of 55°C. All strains were Gram-negative, non-spore
forming type, strictly aerobic, catalase-positive and oxidase-positive
with the ability to produce thermostable cellulase. Based on BLASTn
results, bacterial isolates of M7T55D2 and M7T53D1 gave the
highest homology (97%) with similarity to Tepidimonas ignava while
isolates M7T55D1, M7T55D3, M7T53D2 and M7T53D3 showed
their closest homology (97%-98%) with Tepidimonas thermarum.
These cellulolytic thermophiles might have a commercial potential to
produce valuable thermostable cellulase.
Abstract: Lead (Pb) poisoning is one of the most common and
preventable environmental health problems. There are different
sources of environmental pollution with lead as lead alkyl additives
in petrol and manufacturing processes. Pb in the atmosphere can be
deposited in urban soils, and may then be re-suspended to re-enter the
atmosphere. This could increase human exposure to Pb and cause
long-term health effects. Thus, monitoring Pb pollution is considered
one of the major tasks in controlling pollution. Scalp hair can be
utilized for the determination of lead (Pb) concentration. It provides a
lasting record of metal intakes of weeks or even months, and for most
metals, their accumulation in hair reflects their accumulation in the
whole body. This work was conducted to investigate the
concentration of lead in male scalp hair of Cairo (residential-traffic
and residential-industrial) and rural residents after twenty years of
phasing out of leaded gasoline. Results indicated that the mean
concentration of lead in hair of residential-traffic (9.7552 μg/g ±0.71)
and residential-industrial (12.3288 μg/g ±1.13) was significantly
higher than that in rural residents (4.7327 μg/g ±0.67). The mean
concentration of lead in hair of resident’s industrial areas was the
highest among Cairo residents and not the traffic areas as it was
before phasing out of leaded gasoline. Twenty years of phasing out of
leaded gasoline in Cairo has greatly improved the lead pollution
among residents of traffic areas, but industrial areas residents were
still suffering from lead pollution, which needs more efforts to
control the sources of lead pollution.
Abstract: The objectives of the research are to study patterns of fire location distribution and develop techniques of Geographic Information System application in fire risk assessment for fire planning and management. Fire risk assessment was based on two factors: the vulnerability factor such as building material types, building height, building density and capacity for mitigation factor such as accessibility by road, distance to fire station, distance to hydrants and it was obtained from four groups of stakeholders including firemen, city planners, local government officers and local residents. Factors obtained from all stakeholders were converted into Raster data of GIS and then were superimposed on the data in order to prepare fire risk map of the area showing level of fire risk ranging from high to low. The level of fire risk was obtained from weighted mean of each factor based on the stakeholders. Weighted mean for each factor was obtained by Analytical Hierarchy Analysis.
Abstract: Assistive robotics are playing a vital role in advancing the quality of life for disable people. There exist wide range of systems that can control and guide autonomous mobile robots. The objective of the control system is to guide an autonomous mobile robot using the movement of eyes by means of EOG signal. The EOG signal is acquired using Ag/AgCl electrodes and this signal is processed by a microcontroller unit to calculate the eye gaze direction. Then according to the guidance control strategy, the control commands of the wheelchair are sent. The classification of different eye movements allows us to generate simple code for controlling the wheelchair. This work was aimed towards developing a usable and low-cost assistive robotic wheel chair system for disabled people. To live more independent life, the system can be used by the handicapped people especially those with only eye-motor coordination.
Abstract: The work presented in this paper was performed for a workstation of an assembly section in a company that manufactures radio modules and air conditioning for cars. After performing a workstation analysis and a questionnaire to the operators it was possible to understand the need to investigate the risk of musculoskeletal disorders originated from both the handling of loads as the incorrect dimensioning of the workstation. Regarding the handling of loads the NIOSH Equation was used and it was verified that there was no risk of musculoskeletal disorders. As the operators expressed their lack of satisfaction regarding back pains due to posture adopted they were established the appropriate dimensions (to satisfy 97.5% of the population and using the table of anthropometric data of the Portuguese population) for the workstation and it was proposed the availability of a chair for the workers.
Abstract: This research aims to critical analyze the feminine violent within Thai daily newspaper. This study was qualitative base; content analysis from two popular newspapers (Thairath and Dailynews) two qualitative newspapers (Thaipost and Mathichon). Purposive sampling was used to select eleven specialize news reporters to do in-depth interview. The result found that, popular newspapers, Thairath and dailynews have presented feminine violent news in their paper more than Thaipost and Mathichon the qualitative newspaper. Beside, majority of sample present the feminine violent within news under the code of ethic, The National Press Council of Thailand. Interesting, the age of feminine violent victim was the information that has been focused most. The popular newspaper have illustrated crime scene photo on their first-page while qualitative newspaper used only headline to present the same news.
Abstract: The extracellular proteins secreted by bacteria may be increased in stressful surroundings, such as in the presence of antibiotics. It appears that many antibiotics, when used at low concentrations, have in common the ability to activate or repress gene transcription, which is distinct from their inhibitory effect. There have been comparatively few studies on the potential of antibiotics as a specific chemical signal that can trigger a variety of biological functions. Therefore, this study was carried out to determine the effect of Streptomycin Sulfate in regulating extracellular proteins secreted by Bacillus subtilis ATCC21332. Results of Microdilution assay showed that the Minimum Inhibition Concentration (MIC) of Streptomycin Sulfate on B. subtilis ATCC21332 was 2.5 mg/ml. The bacteria cells were then exposed to Streptomycin Sulfate at concentration of 0.01 MIC before being further incubated for 48h to 72 h. The extracellular proteins secreted were then isolated and analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Proteins profile revealed that three additional bands with approximate sizes of 30 kDa, 22 kDa and 23 kDa were appeared for the treated bacteria with Streptomycin Sulfate. Thus, B. subtilis ATCC21332 in stressful condition with the presence of Streptomycin Sulfate at low concentration could induce the extracellular proteins secretion.
Abstract: Lawsone is a pigment that occurs naturally in plants.
It has been used as a skin and hair dye for a long time. Moreover, its
different biological activities have been reported. The present study
focused on the effect of lawsone on a plant cell model represented by
tobacco BY-2 cell suspension culture, which is used as a model
comparable with the HeLa cells. It has been shown that lawsone
inhibits the cell growth in the concentration-dependent manner. In
addition, changes in DNA methylation level have been determined.
We observed decreasing level of DNA methylation in the presence of
increasing concentrations of lawsone. These results were
accompanied with overproduction of reactive oxygen species (ROS).
Since epigenetic modifications can be caused by different stress
factors, there could be a connection between the changes in the level
of DNA methylation and ROS production caused by lawsone.
Abstract: Ambrosia trifida L. is designated as invasive alien
species by the Act on the Conservation and Use of Biodiversity by the
Ministry of Environment, Korea. The purpose of present paper was to
investigate the inhibitory effects of aqueous extracts of A.trifida on the
development of root hairs of Triticum aestivum L., and Allium
tuberosum Rottler ex Spreng and the electrophoretic protein patterns of
their radicles. The development of root hairs was inhibited by
increasing of aqueous extract concentrations. Through SDS-PAGE,
the electrophoretic protein bands of extracted proteins from their
radicles were appeared in controls, but protein bands of specific
molecular weight disappeared or weakened in treatments. In
conclusion, inhibitory effects of A. trifida made two receptor species
changed morphologically, and at the molecular level in early growth
stage.
Abstract: Polymeric materials have become an integral part of every aspect of today's industry. They have wide applications, inter alia, in areas such as medicine, food industry and agriculture. In agriculture, for example, they are used for the production of pots, irrigation systems and for soil mulching. The aim of this study was the attempt to produce a biodecomposable agricultural mat, by coating cotton fabric with a blend of carboxylated styrene-butadiene latex (LBSK) containing the enzymatic hydrolyzate of keratin from cattle hair, which would serve as a material for mulching.
The production of such material allows the beneficial management of burdensome tannery waste constituted by keratin from cattle hair and at the same time, the production of agricultural mats that much faster undergo decomposition than commonly used polyethylene mats.
Abstract: The purpose of the study was to examine the
relationships between objectively measured physical activity levels
(PALs), enjoyment of physical activity (EPA), and body mass index
(BMI) among adolescents. A total of 188 12-14-year-old Bruneian
secondary school adolescents (88 boys and 100 girls) voluntarily took
part in this study. Subjects wore the RT3 accelerometer for seven
consecutive days in order to measure their PALs. Times of students’
engagement in total (TPA), light (LPA), moderate (MPV), and
vigorous PA (VPA) were obtained from the accelerometer. Their
BMIs were calculated from their body height and weight. Physical
Activity Enjoyment Scale (PACES) was administrated to obtain their
EPA levels. Four key enjoyment factors including fun factors,
positive perceptions, unexciting in doing activities, and negative
perceptions were identified. Subjects’ social economic status (SES)
was provided by school administration. Results show that all the
adolescents did not meet the recommended PA guidelines even
though boys were engaged in more MVPA than girls. No
relationships were found between BMI and all PALs in both boys and
girls. BMI was significantly related to the PACES scores (r = -.22, p
= 0.01), fun factors (r = -.20, p = 0.05) and positive perceptions (r =-
.21, p < 0.05). The PACES scores were significantly related to LPA
(r = .18, p = 0.01) but not related to MVPA (r = .04, p > 0.05). After
controlling for age and SES, BMI was only significantly related to
the PACES scores in girls (r = -.27, p < .01) but boys (r = -.06, p >
0.05). Fun factors were significantly related to LPA and MVPA (p
Abstract: The objectives of this study are to increase tourism products and to develop family agro-tourism. The research methodology was to analyze internal and external situations according to MP-MF and the MC-STEPS principles.

In ‘places or distribution channel’ we discuss the improvement of facilities, specifically the routes to facilitate elder visitors and visitors on wheelchairs and furthermore the arrangement of educational trips to relevant centers in the community. In ‘promotions’, we discuss the implementation of an “all inclusive package” were the agro-tourism program, health-conscious program and the elderly fun program converge.
Abstract: This study involves a design proposal. The objective of is to create a seat arrangement model for public reading spaces that enable free arrangement without disturbing the users. Through a subjective perception scale, this study explored whether distance between seats and direction of seats influence individual subjective perceptions in a public reading space. This study also involves analysis of user subjective perceptions when reading in the settings on 3 seats at different directions and with 5 distances between seats. The results may be applied to public chair design. This study investigated that (a) whether different directions of seats and distances between seats influence individual subjective perceptions and (b) the acceptable personal space between 2 strangers in a public reading space. The results are shown as follows: (a) the directions of seats and distances between seats influenced individual subjective perceptions. (b) subjective evaluation scores were higher for back-to-back seat directions with Distances A (10cm) and B (62cm) compared with face-to-face and side-by-side seat directions; however, when the seat distance exceeded 114cm (Distance C), no difference existed among the directions of seats. (c) regarding reading in public spaces, when the distance between seats is 10cm only, we recommend arranging the seats in a back-to-back fashion to increase user comfort and arrangement of face-to-face and side- by-side seat directions should be avoided. When the seatarrangement is limited to face-to-face design, the distance between seats should be increased to at least 62cm. Moreover, the distance between seats should be increased to at least 114cm for side- by-side seats to elevate user comfort.
Abstract: In this study, fish bone waste was used as a new
catalyst for biodiesel production. Instead of discarding the fish bone
waste, it will be utilized as a source for catalyst that can provide
significant benefit to the environment. Also, it can be substitute as a
calcium oxide source instead of using eggshell, crab shell and snail
shell. The XRD and SEM analysis proved that calcined fish bone
contains calcium oxide, calcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite. The
catalyst was characterized using Scanning Electron Microscope
(SEM) and X-ray Diffraction (XRD).
