Abstract: The aim of this paper is to identify an optimum
control strategy of three-phase shunt active filters to minimize the total harmonic distortion factor of the supply current. A classical PIPI cascade control solution of the output current of the active filterand the voltage across the DC capacitor based on Modulus–Optimum
criterion is taken into consideration. The control system operation
has been simulated using Matlab-Simulink environment and the results agree with the theoretical expectation. It is shown that there is
an optimum value of the DC-bus voltage which minimizes the supply current harmonic distortion factor. It corresponds to the equality of the apparent power at the output of the active filter and the apparent power across the capacitor. Finally, predicted results are verified experimentally on a MaxSine active power filter.
Abstract: Chinese Idioms are a type of traditional Chinese idiomatic
expressions with specific meanings and stereotypes structure
which are widely used in classical Chinese and are still common in
vernacular written and spoken Chinese today. Currently, Chinese
Idioms are retrieved in glossary with key character or key word in
morphology or pronunciation index that can not meet the need of
searching semantically. OCIRS is proposed to search the desired
idiom in the case of users only knowing its meaning without any key
character or key word. The user-s request in a sentence or phrase will
be grammatically analyzed in advance by word segmentation, key
word extraction and semantic similarity computation, thus can be
mapped to the idiom domain ontology which is constructed to provide
ample semantic relations and to facilitate description logics-based
reasoning for idiom retrieval. The experimental evaluation shows that
OCIRS realizes the function of searching idioms via semantics, obtaining
preliminary achievement as requested by the users.
Abstract: In this work, position vector of a time-like dual curve
according to standard frame of D31
is investigated. First, it is proven
that position vector of a time-like dual curve satisfies a dual vector
differential equation of fourth order. The general solution of this dual
vector differential equation has not yet been found. Due to this, in
terms of special solutions, position vectors of some special time-like
dual curves with respect to standard frame of D31
are presented.
Abstract: This paper presents a new Hybrid Fuzzy (HF) PID type controller based on Genetic Algorithms (GA-s) for solution of the Automatic generation Control (AGC) problem in a deregulated electricity environment. In order for a fuzzy rule based control system to perform well, the fuzzy sets must be carefully designed. A major problem plaguing the effective use of this method is the difficulty of accurately constructing the membership functions, because it is a computationally expensive combinatorial optimization problem. On the other hand, GAs is a technique that emulates biological evolutionary theories to solve complex optimization problems by using directed random searches to derive a set of optimal solutions. For this reason, the membership functions are tuned automatically using a modified GA-s based on the hill climbing method. The motivation for using the modified GA-s is to reduce fuzzy system effort and take large parametric uncertainties into account. The global optimum value is guaranteed using the proposed method and the speed of the algorithm-s convergence is extremely improved, too. This newly developed control strategy combines the advantage of GA-s and fuzzy system control techniques and leads to a flexible controller with simple stricture that is easy to implement. The proposed GA based HF (GAHF) controller is tested on a threearea deregulated power system under different operating conditions and contract variations. The results of the proposed GAHF controller are compared with those of Multi Stage Fuzzy (MSF) controller, robust mixed H2/H∞ and classical PID controllers through some performance indices to illustrate its robust performance for a wide range of system parameters and load changes.
Abstract: An image compression method has been developed
using fuzzy edge image utilizing the basic Block Truncation Coding
(BTC) algorithm. The fuzzy edge image has been validated with
classical edge detectors on the basis of the results of the well-known
Canny edge detector prior to applying to the proposed method. The
bit plane generated by the conventional BTC method is replaced with
the fuzzy bit plane generated by the logical OR operation between
the fuzzy edge image and the corresponding conventional BTC bit
plane. The input image is encoded with the block mean and standard
deviation and the fuzzy bit plane. The proposed method has been
tested with test images of 8 bits/pixel and size 512×512 and found to
be superior with better Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) when
compared to the conventional BTC, and adaptive bit plane selection
BTC (ABTC) methods. The raggedness and jagged appearance, and
the ringing artifacts at sharp edges are greatly reduced in
reconstructed images by the proposed method with the fuzzy bit
plane.
Abstract: The classical temporal scan statistic is often used to
identify disease clusters. In recent years, this method has become as a
very popular technique and its field of application has been notably
increased. Many bioinformatic problems have been solved with this
technique. In this paper a new scan fuzzy method is proposed. The
behaviors of classic and fuzzy scan techniques are studied with
simulated data. ROC curves are calculated, being demonstrated the
superiority of the fuzzy scan technique.
Abstract: In this study, a fuzzy integrated logical forecasting method (FILF) is extended for multi-variate systems by using a vector autoregressive model. Fuzzy time series forecasting (FTSF) method was recently introduced by Song and Chissom [1]-[2] after that Chen improved the FTSF method. Rather than the existing literature, the proposed model is not only compared with the previous FTS models, but also with the conventional time series methods such as the classical vector autoregressive model. The cluster optimization is based on the C-means clustering method. An empirical study is performed for the prediction of the chartering rates of a group of dry bulk cargo ships. The root mean squared error (RMSE) metric is used for the comparing of results of methods and the proposed method has superiority than both traditional FTS methods and also the classical time series methods.
Abstract: Image compression plays a vital role in today-s
communication. The limitation in allocated bandwidth leads to
slower communication. To exchange the rate of transmission in the
limited bandwidth the Image data must be compressed before
transmission. Basically there are two types of compressions, 1)
LOSSY compression and 2) LOSSLESS compression. Lossy
compression though gives more compression compared to lossless
compression; the accuracy in retrievation is less in case of lossy
compression as compared to lossless compression. JPEG, JPEG2000
image compression system follows huffman coding for image
compression. JPEG 2000 coding system use wavelet transform,
which decompose the image into different levels, where the
coefficient in each sub band are uncorrelated from coefficient of
other sub bands. Embedded Zero tree wavelet (EZW) coding exploits
the multi-resolution properties of the wavelet transform to give a
computationally simple algorithm with better performance compared
to existing wavelet transforms. For further improvement of
compression applications other coding methods were recently been
suggested. An ANN base approach is one such method. Artificial
Neural Network has been applied to many problems in image
processing and has demonstrated their superiority over classical
methods when dealing with noisy or incomplete data for image
compression applications. The performance analysis of different
images is proposed with an analysis of EZW coding system with
Error Backpropagation algorithm. The implementation and analysis
shows approximately 30% more accuracy in retrieved image
compare to the existing EZW coding system.
Abstract: The performance of high-resolution schemes is investigated for unsteady, inviscid and compressible multiphase flows. An Eulerian diffuse interface approach has been chosen for the simulation of multicomponent flow problems. The reduced fiveequation and seven equation models are used with HLL and HLLC approximation. The authors demonstrated the advantages and disadvantages of both seven equations and five equations models studying their performance with HLL and HLLC algorithms on simple test case. The seven equation model is based on two pressure, two velocity concept of Baer–Nunziato [10], while five equation model is based on the mixture velocity and pressure. The numerical evaluations of two variants of Riemann solvers have been conducted for the classical one-dimensional air-water shock tube and compared with analytical solution for error analysis.
Abstract: In the paper we discuss the influence of the route
flexibility degree, the open rate of operations and the production type
coefficient on makespan. The flexible job-open shop scheduling
problem FJOSP (an extension of the classical job shop scheduling) is
analyzed. For the analysis of the production process we used a
hybrid heuristic of the GRASP (greedy randomized adaptive search
procedure) with simulated annealing algorithm. Experiments with
different levels of factors have been considered and compared. The
GRASP+SA algorithm has been tested and illustrated with results for
the serial route and the parallel one.
Abstract: The angular distribution of Compton scattering of two
quanta originating in the annihilation of a positron with an electron
is investigated as a quantum key distribution (QKD) mechanism in
the gamma spectral range. The geometry of coincident Compton
scattering is observed on the two sides as a way to obtain partially
correlated readings on the quantum channel. We derive the noise
probability density function of a conceptually equivalent prepare
and measure quantum channel in order to evaluate the limits of the
concept in terms of the device secrecy capacity and estimate it at
roughly 1.9 bits per 1 000 annihilation events. The high error rate
is well above the tolerable error rates of the common reconciliation
protocols; therefore, the proposed key agreement protocol by public
discussion requires key reconciliation using classical error-correcting
codes. We constructed a prototype device based on the readily
available monolithic detectors in the least complex setup.
Abstract: In this paper, the effect of receive and/or transmit
antenna spacing on the performance (BER vs. SNR) of multipleantenna
systems is determined by using an RCS (Radar Cross
Section) channel model. In this physical model, the scatterers
existing in the propagation environment are modeled by their RCS so
that the correlation of the receive signal complex amplitudes, i.e.,
both magnitude and phase, can be estimated. The proposed RCS
channel model is then compared with classical models.
Abstract: The hybridisation of genetic algorithm with heuristics has been shown to be one of an effective way to improve its performance. In this work, genetic algorithm hybridised with four heuristics including a new heuristic called neighbourhood improvement were investigated through the classical travelling salesman problem. The experimental results showed that the proposed heuristic outperformed other heuristics both in terms of quality of the results obtained and the computational time.
Abstract: Cryo-electron microscopy (CEM) in combination with
single particle analysis (SPA) is a widely used technique for
elucidating structural details of macromolecular assemblies at closeto-
atomic resolutions. However, development of automated software
for SPA processing is still vital since thousands to millions of
individual particle images need to be processed. Here, we present our
workflow for automated particle picking. Our approach integrates
peak shape analysis to the classical correlation and an iterative
approach to separate macromolecules and background by
classification. This particle selection workflow furthermore provides
a robust means for SPA with little user interaction. Processing
simulated and experimental data assesses performance of the
presented tools.
Abstract: to simulate the phenomenon of electronic transport in semiconductors, we try to adapt a numerical method, often and most frequently it’s that of Monte Carlo. In our work, we applied this method in the case of a ternary alloy semiconductor GaInP in its cubic form; The Calculations are made using a non-parabolic effective-mass energy band model. We consider a band of conduction to three valleys (ΓLX), major of the scattering mechanisms are taken into account in this modeling, as the interactions with the acoustic phonons (elastic collisions) and optics (inelastic collisions). The polar optical phonons cause anisotropic collisions, intra-valleys, very probable in the III-V semiconductors. Other optical phonons, no polar, allow transitions inter-valleys. Initially, we present the full results obtained by the simulation of Monte Carlo in GaInP in stationary regime. We consider thereafter the effects related to the application of an electric field varying according to time, we thus study the transient phenomenon which make their appearance in ternary material
Abstract: In this article we address the problem of mobile robot formation control. Indeed, the most work, in this domain, have studied extensively classical control for keeping a formation of mobile robots. In this work, we design an FLC (Fuzzy logic Controller) controller for separation and bearing control (SBC). Indeed, the leader mobile robot is controlled to follow an arbitrary reference path, and the follower mobile robot use the FSBC (Fuzzy Separation and Bearing Control) to keep constant relative distance and constant angle to the leader robot. The efficiency and simplicity of this control law has been proven by simulation on different situation.
Abstract: The very nonlinear nature of the generator and system
behaviour following a severe disturbance precludes the use of
classical linear control technique. In this paper, a new approach of
nonlinear control is proposed for transient and steady state stability
analysis of a synchronous generator. The control law of the generator
excitation is derived from the basis of Lyapunov stability criterion.
The overall stability of the system is shown using Lyapunov
technique. The application of the proposed controller to simulated
generator excitation control under a large sudden fault and wide
range of operating conditions demonstrates that the new control
strategy is superior to conventional automatic voltage regulator
(AVR), and show very promising results.
Abstract: The success of an electronic system in a System-on- Chip is highly dependent on the efficiency of its interconnection network, which is constructed from routers and channels (the routers move data across the channels between nodes). Since neither classical bus based nor point to point architectures can provide scalable solutions and satisfy the tight power and performance requirements of future applications, the Network-on-Chip (NoC) approach has recently been proposed as a promising solution. Indeed, in contrast to the traditional solutions, the NoC approach can provide large bandwidth with moderate area overhead. The selected topology of the components interconnects plays prime rule in the performance of NoC architecture as well as routing and switching techniques that can be used. In this paper, we present two generic NoC architectures that can be customized to the specific communication needs of an application in order to reduce the area with minimal degradation of the latency of the system. An experimental study is performed to compare these structures with basic NoC topologies represented by 2D mesh, Butterfly-Fat Tree (BFT) and SPIN. It is shown that Cluster mesh (CMesh) and MinRoot schemes achieves significant improvements in network latency and energy consumption with only negligible area overhead and complexity over existing architectures. In fact, in the case of basic NoC topologies, CMesh and MinRoot schemes provides substantial savings in area as well, because they requires fewer routers. The simulation results show that CMesh and MinRoot networks outperforms MESH, BFT and SPIN in main performance metrics.
Abstract: The aim of this study was to analyse the most
important parameters determining the quality of the motion structure
of the basic classical dance jump – grand jeté.Research sample
consisted of 8 students of the Dance Conservatory in Brno. Using the
system Simi motion we performed a 3D kinematic analysis of the
jump. On the basis of the comparison of structure quality and
measured data of the grand jeté, we defined the optimal values of the
relevant parameters determining the quality of the performance. The
take-off speed should achieve about 2.4 m·s-1, the optimum take-off
angle is 28 - 30º. The take-off leg should swing backward at the
beginning of the flight phase with the minimum speed of 3.3 m·s-1.If
motor abilities of dancers achieve the level necessary for optimal
performance of a classical dance jump, there is room for certain
variability of the structure of the dance jump.
Abstract: A new Feed-Forward/Feedback Generalized
Minimum Variance Pole-placement Controller to incorporate the
robustness of classical pole-placement into the flexibility of
generalized minimum variance self-tuning controller for Single-Input
Single-Output (SISO) has been proposed in this paper. The design,
which provides the user with an adaptive mechanism, which ensures
that the closed loop poles are, located at their pre-specified positions.
In addition, the controller design which has a feed-forward/feedback
structure overcomes the certain limitations existing in similar poleplacement
control designs whilst retaining the simplicity of
adaptation mechanisms used in other designs. It tracks set-point
changes with the desired speed of response, penalizes excessive
control action, and can be applied to non-minimum phase systems.
Besides, at steady state, the controller has the ability to regulate the
constant load disturbance to zero. Example simulation results using
both simulated and real plant models demonstrate the effectiveness of
the proposed controller.
