Abstract: This paper presents an optimized methodology to
folded cascode operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) design.
The design is done in different regions of operation, weak inversion,
strong inversion and moderate inversion using the gm/ID methodology
in order to optimize MOS transistor sizing.
Using 0.35μm CMOS process, the designed folded cascode OTA
achieves a DC gain of 77.5dB and a unity-gain frequency of 430MHz
in strong inversion mode. In moderate inversion mode, it has a 92dB
DC gain and provides a gain bandwidth product of around 69MHz.
The OTA circuit has a DC gain of 75.5dB and unity-gain frequency
limited to 19.14MHZ in weak inversion region.
Abstract: This paper presents a new true RMS-to-DC converter
circuit based on a square-root-domain squarer/divider. The circuit is
designed by employing up-down translinear loop and using of
MOSFET transistors that operate in strong inversion saturation
region. The converter offer advantages of two-quadrant input current,
low circuit complexity, low supply voltage (1.2V) and immunity
from the body effect. The circuit has been simulated by HSPICE.
The simulation results are seen to conform to the theoretical analysis
and shows benefits of the proposed circuit.
Abstract: The characteristics of fluid flow and phase separation
in an oil-water separator were numerically analysed as part of the
work presented herein. Simulations were performed for different
velocities and droplet diameters, and the way this parameters can
influence the separator geometry was studied.
The simulations were carried out using the software package
Fluent 6.2, which is designed for numerical simulation of fluid flow
and mass transfer. The model consisted of a cylindrical horizontal
separator. A tetrahedral mesh was employed in the computational
domain. The condition of two-phase flow was simulated with the
two-fluid model, taking into consideration turbulence effects using
the k-ε model.
The results showed that there is a strong dependency of phase
separation on mixture velocity and droplet diameter. An increase in
mixture velocity will bring about a slow down in phase separation
and as a consequence will require a weir of greater height. An
increase in droplet diameter will produce a better phase separation.
The simulations are in agreement with results reported in literature
and show that CFD can be a useful tool in studying a horizontal oilwater
separator.
Abstract: Sickness absence represents a major economic and
social issue. Analysis of sick leave data is a recurrent challenge to analysts because of the complexity of the data structure which is
often time dependent, highly skewed and clumped at zero. Ignoring these features to make statistical inference is likely to be inefficient
and misguided. Traditional approaches do not address these problems. In this study, we discuss model methodologies in terms of statistical techniques for addressing the difficulties with sick leave data. We also introduce and demonstrate a new method by performing a longitudinal assessment of long-term absenteeism using
a large registration dataset as a working example available from the Helsinki Health Study for municipal employees from Finland during the period of 1990-1999. We present a comparative study on model
selection and a critical analysis of the temporal trends, the occurrence
and degree of long-term sickness absences among municipal employees. The strengths of this working example include the large
sample size over a long follow-up period providing strong evidence in supporting of the new model. Our main goal is to propose a way to
select an appropriate model and to introduce a new methodology for analysing sickness absence data as well as to demonstrate model
applicability to complicated longitudinal data.
Abstract: This research aims to examine the key success factors
for the diffusion of mobile entertainment services in Malaysia. The
drivers and barriers observed in this research include perceived
benefit; concerns pertaining to pricing, product and technological
standardization, privacy and security; as well as influences from
peers and community. An analysis of a Malaysian survey of 384
respondents between 18 to 25 years shows that subscribers placed
greater importance on perceived benefit of mobile entertainment
services compared to other factors. Results of the survey also show
that there are strong positive correlations between all the factors,
with pricing issue–perceived benefit showing the strongest
relationship. This paper aims to provide an extensive study on the
drivers and barriers that could be used to derive architecture for
entertainment service provision to serve as a guide for telcos to
outline suitable approaches in order to encourage mass market
adoption of mobile entertainment services in Malaysia.
Abstract: It is quite essential to form dialogue mechanisms and
dialogue channels to solve intercultural communication issues.
Therefore, every country should develop a intercultural education
project which aims to resolve international communication issues.
For proper mediation training, the first step is to reach an agreement
on the actors to run the project. The strongest mediation mechanisms
in the world should be analyzed and initiated within the educational
policies. A communication-based mediation model should be
developed for international mediation training. Mediators can use
their convincing communication skills as a part of this model. At the
first, fundamental stages of the mediation training should be specified
within the scope of the model. Another important topic at this point is
common sence and peace leaders to act as an ombudsman in this
process. Especially for solving some social issues and conflicts,
common sense leaders acting as an ombudsman would lead to
effective communication. In mediation training that is run by
universities and non-governmental organizations, another phase is to
focus on conducting the meetings. In intercultural mediation training,
one of the most critical topics is to conduct the meeting traffic and
performing a shuttle diplomacy. Meeting traffic is where the mediator
organizes meetings with the parties with initiative powers, in order to
contribute to the solution of the issue, and schedule these meetings.
In this notice titled “ Intercultural mediation training and the training
process of common sense leaders by the leadership of universities
communication and artistic campaigns" , communication models and
strategies about this topic will be constructed and an intercultural art
activities and perspectives will be presented.

Abstract: Islamic banking is one the most blossoming doctrine in
economic system of the world. The Fast growing awareness about
Islamic financial system has brought strong feeling to Muslims to
confront the western interest-based economic cycle. The Islamic
economic system is emerging as a reliable alternative to the interest
based system. This study is proposed to ascertain the motivational
factors encouraging people to go for Islamic banking in Pakistan.
These pulsing factors are determined by generation of hypothesis that
there are certain factors which are urging people to opt Islamic
banking system and to see the differences in their ranking by applying
Friedman test. These factors include: Economically derived factors
such as stability of Islamic banks in crisis, profit and loss sharing
doctrine and equity sharing etc. This study also highlights the
religiously derived factors such as interest free banking, Shariah
tenets and supervisory of Islamic Shariah board and sociopsychological
factors.
Abstract: The unsteady wake of an EPPLER 361 airfoil in
pitching motion has been investigated in a subsonic wind tunnel by
hot-wire anemometry. The airfoil was given the pitching motion
about the one-quarter chord axis at reduced frequency of 0182.
Streamwise mean velocity profiles (wake profiles) were investigated
at several vertically aligned points behind the airfoil at one-quarter
chord downstream distance from trailing edge. Oscillation amplitude
and mean angle of attack were varied to determine the effects on
wake profiles. When the maximum dynamic angle of attack was
below the static stall angle of attack, weak effects on wake were
found by increasing oscillation amplitude and mean angle of attack.
But, for higher angles of attack strong unsteady effects were
appeared on the wake.
Abstract: Achieving success is a highly critical issue for the
companies to survive in a competitive business environment. The
construction industry is also an area where there is strong
competition due to a large number of construction contractors. There
have been many factors such as qualified employees, quality
workmanship and financial management that can lead to company
success in the construction industry. The aim of this study was to
investigate the critical factors leading to construction company
success. Within this context, a survey was carried out among 40
Turkish construction companies which are located in the Northwest
region of Turkey. In this survey, top-level managers and owners of
the companies were interviewed. The interviews took place over a
five month period between January and May 2007. Finally, the
ranking of the critical success factors has been determined by using
the Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART). Based on
the results, business management, financial conditions and
owner/manager characteristics were determined as the most
important factors to company success.
Abstract: the current study presents a modeling framework to determine the torsion strength of an induction hardened splined shaft by considering geometry and material aspects with the aim to optimize the static torsion strength by selection of spline geometry and hardness depth. Six different spline geometries and seven different hardness profiles including non-hardened and throughhardened shafts have been considered. The results reveal that the torque that causes initial yielding of the induction hardened splined shaft is strongly dependent on the hardness depth and the geometry of the spline teeth. Guidelines for selection of the appropriate hardness depth and spline geometry are given such that an optimum static torsion strength of the component can be achieved.
Abstract: Outsourcing, a management practice strongly
consolidated within the area of Information Systems, is currently
going through a stage of unstoppable growth. This paper makes a
proposal about the main reasons which may lead firms to adopt
Information Systems Outsourcing. It will equally analyse the
potential risks that IS clients are likely to face. An additional
objective is to assess these reasons and risks in the case of large
Spanish firms, while simultaneously examining their evolution over
time.
Abstract: The mixture formation prior to the ignition process
plays as a key element in the diesel combustion. Parametric studies of
mixture formation and ignition process in various injection parameter
has received considerable attention in potential for reducing
emissions. Purpose of this study is to clarify the effects of injection
pressure on mixture formation and ignition especially during ignition
delay period, which have to be significantly influences throughout the
combustion process and exhaust emissions. This study investigated
the effects of injection pressure on diesel combustion fundamentally
using rapid compression machine. The detail behavior of mixture
formation during ignition delay period was investigated using the
schlieren photography system with a high speed camera. This method
can capture spray evaporation, spray interference, mixture formation
and flame development clearly with real images. Ignition process and
flame development were investigated by direct photography method
using a light sensitive high-speed color digital video camera. The
injection pressure and air motion are important variable that strongly
affect to the fuel evaporation, endothermic and prolysis process
during ignition delay. An increased injection pressure makes spray tip
penetration longer and promotes a greater amount of fuel-air mixing
occurs during ignition delay. A greater quantity of fuel prepared
during ignition delay period thus predominantly promotes more rapid
heat release.
Abstract: Human immunodeficiency virus infection and
acquired immunodeficiency syndrome is a global pandemic with
cases reporting from virtually every country and continues to be a
common infection in developing country like India.
Microalbuminuria is a manifestation of human immunodeficiency
virus associated nephropathy. Therefore, microalbuminuria may be
an early marker of human immunodeficiency virus associated
nephropathy, and screening for its presence may be beneficial. A
strikingly high prevalence of microalbuminuria among human
immunodeficiency virus infected patients has been described in
various studies. Risk factors for clinically significant proteinuria
include African - American race, higher human immunodeficiency
virus ribonucleic acid level and lower CD4 lymphocyte count. The
cardiovascular risk factors of increased systolic blood pressure and
increase fasting blood sugar level are strongly associated with
microalbuminuria in human immunodeficiency virus patient. These
results suggest that microalbuminuria may be a sign of current
endothelial dysfunction and micro-vascular disease and there is
substantial risk of future cardiovascular disease events. Positive
contributing factors include early kidney disease such as human
immunodeficiency virus associated nephropathy, a marker of end
organ damage related to co morbidities of diabetes or hypertension,
or more diffuse endothelial cells dysfunction. Nevertheless after
adjustment for non human immunodeficiency virus factors, human
immunodeficiency virus itself is a major risk factor. The presence of
human immunodeficiency virus infection is independent risk to
develop microalbuminuria in human immunodeficiency virus patient.
Cardiovascular risk factors appeared to be stronger predictors of
microalbuminuria than markers of human immunodeficiency virus
severity person with human immunodeficiency virus infection and
microalbuminuria therefore appear to potentially bear the burden of
two separate damage related to known vascular end organ damage
related to know vascular risk factors, and human immunodeficiency
virus specific processes such as the direct viral infection of kidney
cells. The higher prevalence of microalbuminuria among the human
immunodeficiency virus infected could be harbinger of future
increased risks of both kidney and cardiovascular disease. Further
study defining the prognostic significance of microalbuminuria
among human immunodeficiency virus infected persons will be
essential. Microalbuminuria seems to be a predictor of cardiovascular
disease in diabetic and non diabetic subjects, hence it can also be
used for early detection of micro vascular disease in human
immunodeficiency virus positive patients, thus can help to diagnose
the disease at the earliest.
Abstract: The nickel and gold nanoclusters as supported
catalysts were analyzed by XAS, XRD and XPS in order to
determine their local, global and electronic structure. The present
study has pointed out a strong deformation of the local structure of
the metal, due to its interaction with oxide supports. The average
particle size, the mean squares of the microstrain, the particle size
distribution and microstrain functions of the supported Ni and Au
catalysts were determined by XRD method using Generalized Fermi
Function for the X-ray line profiles approximation. Based on EXAFS
analysis we consider that the local structure of the investigated
systems is strongly distorted concerning the atomic number pairs.
Metal-support interaction is confirmed by the shape changes of the
probability densities of electron transitions: Ni K edge (1s →
continuum and 2p), Au LIII-edge (2p3/2 → continuum, 6s, 6d5/2 and
6d3/2). XPS investigations confirm the metal-support interaction at
their interface.
Abstract: Effective evaluation of software development effort is an important issue during project plan. This study provides a model to predict development effort based on the software size estimated with function points. We generalize the average amount of effort spent on each phase of the development, and give the estimates for the effort used in software building, testing, and implementation. Finally, this paper finds a strong correlation between software defects and software size. As the size of software constantly increases, the quality remains to be a matter which requires major concern.
Abstract: In the present work homogeneous silica film on
silicon was fabricated by colloidal silica sol. The silica sol precursor
with uniformly granular particle was derived by the alkaline
hydrolysis of tetraethoxyorthosilicate (TEOS) in presence of glycerol
template. The film was prepared by dip coating process. The
templated hetero-structured silica film was annealed at elevated
temperatures to generate nano- and meso porosity in the film. The
film was subsequently annealed at different temperatures to make it
defect free and abrasion resistant. The sol and the film were
characterized by the measurement of particle size distribution,
scanning electron microscopy, XRD, FTIR spectroscopy,
transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy,
measurement of the refractive index, thermal conductivity and
abrasion resistance. The porosity of the films decreased whereas
refractive index and dielectric constant of it `increased with the
increase in the annealing temperature. The thermal conductivity of
the films increased with the increase in the film thickness. The
developed porous silica film holds strong potential for use in
different areas.
Abstract: X-ray mammography is the most effective method for
the early detection of breast diseases. However, the typical diagnostic
signs such as microcalcifications and masses are difficult to detect
because mammograms are of low-contrast and noisy. In this paper, a
new algorithm for image denoising and enhancement in Orthogonal
Polynomials Transformation (OPT) is proposed for radiologists to
screen mammograms. In this method, a set of OPT edge coefficients
are scaled to a new set by a scale factor called OPT scale factor. The
new set of coefficients is then inverse transformed resulting in
contrast improved image. Applications of the proposed method to
mammograms with subtle lesions are shown. To validate the
effectiveness of the proposed method, we compare the results to
those obtained by the Histogram Equalization (HE) and the Unsharp
Masking (UM) methods. Our preliminary results strongly suggest
that the proposed method offers considerably improved enhancement
capability over the HE and UM methods.
Abstract: The article deals with numerical investigation of axisymmetric
subsonic air to air ejector. An analysis of flow and mixing
processes in cylindrical mixing chamber are made. Several modes
with different velocity and ejection ratio are presented. The mixing
processes are described and differences between flow in the initial
region of mixing and the main region of mixing are described. The
lengths of both regions are evaluated. Transition point and point
where the mixing processes are finished are identified. It was found
that the length of the initial region of mixing is strongly dependent on
the velocity ratio, while the length of the main region of mixing is
dependent on velocity ratio only slightly.
