Abstract: s the floating offshore wind turbine industry continues to develop and grow, the capabilities of established port facilities need to be assessed as to their ability to support the expanding construction and installation requirements. This paper assesses current infrastructure requirements and projected changes to port facilities that may be required to support the floating offshore wind industry. Understanding the infrastructure needs of the floating offshore renewable industry will help to identify the port-related requirements. Floating offshore wind turbines can be installed further out to sea and in deeper waters than traditional fixed offshore wind arrays, meaning it can take advantage of stronger winds. Separate ports are required for substructure construction, fit-out of the turbines, moorings, subsea cables and maintenance. Large areas are required for the laydown of mooring equipment, inter array cables, turbine blades and nacelles. The capabilities of established port facilities to support floating wind farms are assessed by evaluation of size of substructures, height of wind turbine with regards to the cranes for fitting of blades, distance to offshore site and offshore installation vessel characteristics. The paper will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using large land based cranes, inshore floating crane vessels or offshore crane vessels at the fit-out port for the installation of the turbine. Water depths requirements for import of materials and export of the completed structures will be considered. There are additional costs associated with any emerging technology. However, part of the popularity of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines stems from the cost savings against permanent structures like fixed wind turbines. Floating Offshore Wind Turbine developers can benefit from lighter, more cost effective equipment which can be assembled in port and towed to site rather than relying on large, expensive installation vessels to transport and erect fixed bottom turbines. The ability to assemble Floating Offshore Wind Turbines equipment on shore means minimising highly weather dependent operations like offshore heavy lifts and assembly, saving time and costs and reducing safety risks for offshore workers. Maintenance might take place in safer onshore conditions for barges and semi submersibles. Offshore renewables, such as floating wind, can take advantage of this wealth of experience, while oil and gas operators can deploy this experience at the same time as entering the renewables space. The floating offshore wind industry is in the early stages of development and port facilities are required for substructure fabrication, turbine manufacture, turbine construction and maintenance support. The paper discusses the potential floating wind substructures as this provides a snapshot of the requirements at the present time, and potential technological developments required for commercial development. Scaling effects of demonstration-scale projects will be addressed; however the primary focus will be on commercial-scale (30+ units) device floating wind energy farms.
Abstract: Dimensionality reduction and feature extraction are of
crucial importance for achieving high efficiency in manipulating
the high dimensional data. Two-dimensional discriminant locality
preserving projection (2D-DLPP) and two-dimensional discriminant
supervised LPP (2D-DSLPP) are two effective two-dimensional
projection methods for dimensionality reduction and feature
extraction of face image matrices. Since 2D-DLPP and 2D-DSLPP
preserve the local structure information of the original data and
exploit the discriminant information, they usually have good
recognition performance. However, 2D-DLPP and 2D-DSLPP
only employ single-sided projection, and thus the generated low
dimensional data matrices have still many features. In this paper,
by combining the discriminant supervised LPP with the bidirectional
projection, we propose the bidirectional discriminant supervised LPP
(BDSLPP). The left and right projection matrices for BDSLPP can
be computed iteratively. Experimental results show that the proposed
BDSLPP achieves higher recognition accuracy than 2D-DLPP,
2D-DSLPP, and bidirectional discriminant LPP (BDLPP).
Abstract: This paper describes the qualification test campaign performed on the Demise Observation Capsule DOC-EQM as part of the Future Launch Preparatory Program FLPP3. The mechanical environment experienced during launch ascent and separation phase was first identified and then replicated in terms of sine, random and shock vibration. The loads identification is derived by selecting the worst possible case. Vibration and shock qualification test performed at CIRA Space Qualification laboratory is herein described. Mechanical fixtures’ design and validation, carried out by means of FEM, is also addressed due to its fundamental role in the vibrational test campaign. The Demise Observation Capsule (DOC) successfully passed the qualification test campaign. Functional test and resonance search have not been point any fault and damages of the capsule.
Abstract: With the development of HyperSpectral Imagery
(HSI) technology, the spectral resolution of HSI became denser,
which resulted in large number of spectral bands, high correlation
between neighboring, and high data redundancy. However, the
semantic interpretation is a challenging task for HSI analysis
due to the high dimensionality and the high correlation of the
different spectral bands. In fact, this work presents a dimensionality
reduction approach that allows to overcome the different issues
improving the semantic interpretation of HSI. Therefore, in order
to preserve the spatial information, the Tensor Locality Preserving
Projection (TLPP) has been applied to transform the original HSI.
In the second step, knowledge has been extracted based on the
adjacency graph to describe the different pixels. Based on the
transformation matrix using TLPP, a weighted matrix has been
constructed to rank the different spectral bands based on their
contribution score. Thus, the relevant bands have been adaptively
selected based on the weighted matrix. The performance of the
presented approach has been validated by implementing several
experiments, and the obtained results demonstrate the efficiency
of this approach compared to various existing dimensionality
reduction techniques. Also, according to the experimental results,
we can conclude that this approach can adaptively select the
relevant spectral improving the semantic interpretation of HSI.
Abstract: Image Multi-label Classification (IMC) assigns a label or a set of labels to an image. The big demand for image annotation and archiving in the web attracts the researchers to develop many algorithms for this application domain. The existing techniques for IMC have two drawbacks: The description of the elementary characteristics from the image and the correlation between labels are not taken into account. In this paper, we present an algorithm (MIML-HOGLPP), which simultaneously handles these limitations. The algorithm uses the histogram of gradients as feature descriptor. It applies the Label Priority Power-set as multi-label transformation to solve the problem of label correlation. The experiment shows that the results of MIML-HOGLPP are better in terms of some of the evaluation metrics comparing with the two existing techniques.
Abstract: In this paper, a method is proposed for solving Fuzzy Multi-Objective Linear Programming problems (FMOLPP) with fuzzy right hand side and fuzzy decision variables. To illustrate the proposed method, it is applied to the problem of selecting suppliers for an automotive parts producer company in Iran in order to find the number of optimal orders allocated to each supplier considering the conflicting objectives. Finally, the obtained results are discussed.
Abstract: This paper discusses the simulation and experimental work of small Smart Grid containing ten consumers. Smart Grid is characterized by a two-way flow of real-time information and energy. RTP (Real Time Pricing) based tariff is implemented in this work to reduce peak demand, PAR (peak to average ratio) and cost of energy consumed. In the experimental work described here, working of Smart Plug, HEC (Home Energy Controller), HAN (Home Area Network) and communication link between consumers and utility server are explained. Algorithms for Smart Plug, HEC, and utility server are presented and explained in this work. After receiving the Real Time Price for different time slots of the day, HEC interacts automatically by running an algorithm which is based on Linear Programming Problem (LPP) method to find the optimal energy consumption schedule. Algorithm made for utility server can handle more than one off-peak time period during the day. Simulation and experimental work are carried out for different cases. At the end of this work, comparison between simulation results and experimental results are presented to show the effectiveness of the minimization method adopted.
Abstract: Myoelectric control system is the fundamental
component of modern prostheses, which uses the myoelectric signals
from an individual’s muscles to control the prosthesis movements.
The surface electromyogram signal (sEMG) being noninvasive has
been used as an input to prostheses controllers for many years.
Recent technological advances has led to the development of
implantable myoelectric sensors which enable the internal
myoelectric signal (MES) to be used as input to these prostheses
controllers. The intramuscular measurement can provide focal
recordings from deep muscles of the forearm and independent signals
relatively free of crosstalk thus allowing for more independent
control sites. However, little work has been done to compare the two
inputs. In this paper we have compared the classification accuracy of
six pattern recognition based myoelectric controllers which use
surface myoelectric signals recorded using untargeted (symmetric)
surface electrode arrays to the same controllers with multichannel
intramuscular myolectric signals from targeted intramuscular
electrodes as inputs. There was no significant enhancement in the
classification accuracy as a result of using the intramuscular EMG
measurement technique when compared to the results acquired using
the surface EMG measurement technique. Impressive classification
accuracy (99%) could be achieved by optimally selecting only five
channels of surface EMG.
Abstract: Literature review revealed the importance of the
adoption of marketing Relationship for loyalty and retaining
profitable customer (Customer Relationship Management). LPQ
satisfaction will reinforce the loyalty and customer brand
attachment. Customer will communicate the operator to others. The
focus of this study is to examine the relationship between the
LPPQ and the WOM recommendations through: customer
satisfaction, loyalty and attachment. The results show that LPQ
affect positively the satisfaction, negatively the loyalty. LPQ has an
indirectly effect on WOM recommendations but through the
satisfaction and attachment. The mediating effect of satisfaction in
the relationship between LPQ and Loyalty is rejected. This finding
can be explained by the nature of mobile sector in Tunisia.
Abstract: In this manuscript, we discuss the problem of determining the optimum stratification of a study (or main) variable based on the auxiliary variable that follows a uniform distribution. If the stratification of survey variable is made using the auxiliary variable it may lead to substantial gains in precision of the estimates. This problem is formulated as a Nonlinear Programming Problem (NLPP), which turn out to multistage decision problem and is solved using dynamic programming technique.
Abstract: Hazard rate estimation is one of the important topics
in forecasting earthquake occurrence. Forecasting earthquake
occurrence is a part of the statistical seismology where the main
subject is the point process. Generally, earthquake hazard rate is
estimated based on the point process likelihood equation called the
Hazard Rate Likelihood of Point Process (HRLPP). In this research,
we have developed estimation method, that is hazard rate single
decrement HRSD. This method was adapted from estimation method
in actuarial studies. Here, one individual associated with an
earthquake with inter event time is exponentially distributed. The
information of epicenter and time of earthquake occurrence are used
to estimate hazard rate. At the end, a case study of earthquake hazard
rate will be given. Furthermore, we compare the hazard rate between
HRLPP and HRSD method.
Abstract: Overcurrent (OC) relays are the major protection
devices in a distribution system. The operating time of the OC relays
are to be coordinated properly to avoid the mal-operation of the
backup relays. The OC relay time coordination in ring fed
distribution networks is a highly constrained optimization problem
which can be stated as a linear programming problem (LPP). The
purpose is to find an optimum relay setting to minimize the time of
operation of relays and at the same time, to keep the relays properly
coordinated to avoid the mal-operation of relays.
This paper presents two phase simplex method for optimum time
coordination of OC relays. The method is based on the simplex
algorithm which is used to find optimum solution of LPP. The
method introduces artificial variables to get an initial basic feasible
solution (IBFS). Artificial variables are removed using iterative
process of first phase which minimizes the auxiliary objective
function. The second phase minimizes the original objective function
and gives the optimum time coordination of OC relays.
