Abstract: In the highly competitive and rapidly changing global
marketplace, independent organizations and enterprises often come
together and form a temporary alignment of virtual enterprise in a
supply chain to better provide products or service. As firms adopt the
systems approach implicit in supply chain management, they must
manage the quality from both internal process control and external
control of supplier quality and customer requirements. How to
incorporate quality management of upstream and downstream supply
chain partners into their own quality management system has recently
received a great deal of attention from both academic and practice.
This paper investigate the collaborative feature and the entities-
relationship in a supply chain, and presents an ontology of
collaborative supply chain from an approach of aligning
service-oriented framework with service-dominant logic. This
perspective facilitates the segregation of material flow management
from manufacturing capability management, which provides a
foundation for the coordination and integration of the business process
to measure, analyze, and continually improve the quality of products,
services, and process. Further, this approach characterizes the different
interests of supply chain partners, providing an innovative approach to
analyze the collaborative features of supply chain. Furthermore, this
ontology is the foundation to develop quality management system
which internalizes the quality management in upstream and
downstream supply chain partners and manages the quality in supply
chain systematically.
Abstract: Over the years, there is a growing trend towards
quality-based specifications in highway construction. In many
Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) specifications, the
contractor is primarily responsible for quality control of the process,
whereas the highway agency is responsible for testing the acceptance
of the product. A cooperative investigation was conducted in Illinois
over several years to develop a prototype End-Result Specification
(ERS) for asphalt pavement construction. The final characteristics of
the product are stipulated in the ERS and the contractor is given
considerable freedom in achieving those characteristics. The risk for
the contractor or agency depends on how the acceptance limits and
processes are specified. Stochastic simulation models are very useful
in estimating and analyzing payment risk in ERS systems and these
form an integral part of the Illinois-s prototype ERS system. This
paper describes the development of an innovative methodology to
estimate the variability components in in-situ density, air voids and
asphalt content data from ERS projects. The information gained from
this would be crucial in simulating these ERS projects for estimation
and analysis of payment risks associated with asphalt pavement
construction. However, these methods require at least two parties to
conduct tests on all the split samples obtained according to the
sampling scheme prescribed in present ERS implemented in Illinois.
Abstract: A robust control approach is proposed for a high speed manipulator using a hybrid computed torque control approach in the state space. The high-speed manipulator is driven by permanent magnet dc motors to track a trajectory in the joint space in the presence of disturbances. Tracking problem is analyzed in the state space where the completed models are considered for actuators. The proposed control approach can guarantee the stability and a satisfactory tracking performance. A two-link elbow manipulator driven by electrical actuators is simulated and results are shown to satisfy conditions under technical specifications.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose use of convolutional codes
for file dispersal. The proposed method is comparable in complexity
to the information Dispersal Algorithm proposed by M.Rabin and for
particular choices of (non-binary) convolutional codes, is almost as
efficient as that algorithm in terms of controlling expansion in the
total storage. Further, our proposed dispersal method allows string
search.
Abstract: This paper presents a new technique of compensation
of the effect of variation parameters in the direct field oriented
control of induction motor. The proposed method uses an adaptive
tuning of the value of synchronous speed to obtain the robustness for
the field oriented control. We show that this adaptive tuning allows
having robustness for direct field oriented control to changes in rotor
resistance, load torque and rotational speed. The effectiveness of the
proposed control scheme is verified by numerical simulations. The
numerical validation results of the proposed scheme have presented
good performances compared to the usual direct-field oriented
control.
Abstract: This paper describes the development of a fully
automated measurement software for antenna radiation pattern
measurements in a Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR). The
CATR has a frequency range from 2-40 GHz and the measurement
hardware includes a Network Analyzer for transmitting and
Receiving the microwave signal and a Positioner controller to control
the motion of the Styrofoam column. The measurement process
includes Calibration of CATR with a Standard Gain Horn (SGH)
antenna followed by Gain versus angle measurement of the Antenna
under test (AUT). The software is designed to control a variety of
microwave transmitter / receiver and two axis Positioner controllers
through the standard General Purpose interface bus (GPIB) interface.
Addition of new Network Analyzers is supported through a slight
modification of hardware control module. Time-domain gating is
implemented to remove the unwanted signals and get the isolated
response of AUT. The gated response of the AUT is compared with
the calibration data in the frequency domain to obtain the desired
results. The data acquisition and processing is implemented in
Agilent VEE and Matlab. A variety of experimental measurements
with SGH antennas were performed to validate the accuracy of
software. A comparison of results with existing commercial
softwares is presented and the measured results are found to be
within .2 dBm.
Abstract: This paper presents a new Hybrid Fuzzy (HF) PID type controller based on Genetic Algorithms (GA-s) for solution of the Automatic generation Control (AGC) problem in a deregulated electricity environment. In order for a fuzzy rule based control system to perform well, the fuzzy sets must be carefully designed. A major problem plaguing the effective use of this method is the difficulty of accurately constructing the membership functions, because it is a computationally expensive combinatorial optimization problem. On the other hand, GAs is a technique that emulates biological evolutionary theories to solve complex optimization problems by using directed random searches to derive a set of optimal solutions. For this reason, the membership functions are tuned automatically using a modified GA-s based on the hill climbing method. The motivation for using the modified GA-s is to reduce fuzzy system effort and take large parametric uncertainties into account. The global optimum value is guaranteed using the proposed method and the speed of the algorithm-s convergence is extremely improved, too. This newly developed control strategy combines the advantage of GA-s and fuzzy system control techniques and leads to a flexible controller with simple stricture that is easy to implement. The proposed GA based HF (GAHF) controller is tested on a threearea deregulated power system under different operating conditions and contract variations. The results of the proposed GAHF controller are compared with those of Multi Stage Fuzzy (MSF) controller, robust mixed H2/H∞ and classical PID controllers through some performance indices to illustrate its robust performance for a wide range of system parameters and load changes.
Abstract: This paper is focusing on designing a control system
for wind turbine which can control the speed and output power
according to arbitrary algorithm. Reference Tracking Method is used
to control the turbine spinning speed in order to increase its output
energy.
Abstract: In this work we present a solution for DAGC (Digital
Automatic Gain Control) in WLAN receivers compatible to IEEE 802.11a/g standard. Those standards define communication in 5/2.4
GHz band using Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing OFDM modulation scheme. WLAN Transceiver that we have used
enables gain control over Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) and a
Variable Gain Amplifier (VGA). The control over those signals is
performed in our digital baseband processor using dedicated hardware block DAGC. DAGC in this process is used to automatically control the VGA and LNA in order to achieve better
signal-to-noise ratio, decrease FER (Frame Error Rate) and hold the
average power of the baseband signal close to the desired set point.
DAGC function in baseband processor is done in few steps: measuring power levels of baseband samples of an RF signal,accumulating the differences between the measured power level and
actual gain setting, adjusting a gain factor of the accumulation, and
applying the adjusted gain factor the baseband values. Based on the measurement results of RSSI signal dependence to input power we have concluded that this digital AGC can be implemented applying
the simple linearization of the RSSI. This solution is very simple but also effective and reduces complexity and power consumption of the
DAGC. This DAGC is implemented and tested both in FPGA and in ASIC as a part of our WLAN baseband processor. Finally, we have integrated this circuit in a compact WLAN PCMCIA board based on MAC and baseband ASIC chips designed from us.
Abstract: The development of the power electronics has allowed
increasing the precision and reliability of the electrical trainings,
thanks to the adjustable inverters, as the Pulse Wide Modulation
(PWM) five level inverters, which is the object of study in this
article.The authors treat the relation between the law order adopted for
a given system and the oscillations of the electrical and mechanical
parameters of which the tolerance depends on the process with which
they are integrated (paper factory, lifting of the heavy loads,
etc.).Thus the best choice of the regulation indexes allows us to
achieve stability and safety training without investment (management
of existing equipment).
Abstract: As is needless to say; a majority of accidents, which occur, are due to drunk driving. As such, there is no effective mechanism to prevent this. Here we have designed an integrated system for the same purpose. Alcohol content in the driver-s body is detected by means of an infrared breath analyzer placed at the steering wheel. An infrared cell directs infrared energy through the sample and any unabsorbed energy at the other side is detected. The higher the concentration of ethanol, the more infrared absorption occurs (in much the same way that a sunglass lens absorbs visible light, alcohol absorbs infrared light). Thus the alcohol level of the driver is continuously monitored and calibrated on a scale. When it exceeds a particular limit the fuel supply is cutoff. If the device is removed also, the fuel supply will be automatically cut off or an alarm is sounded depending upon the requirement. This does not happen abruptly and special indicators are fixed at the back to avoid inconvenience to other drivers using the highway signals. Frame work for integration of sensors and control module in a scalable multi-agent system is provided .A SMS which contains the current GPS location of the vehicle is sent via a GSM module to the police control room to alert the police. The system is foolproof and the driver cannot tamper with it easily. Thus it provides an effective and cost effective solution for the problem of drunk driving in vehicles.
Abstract: The challenge in the swing-up problem of double
inverted pendulum on a cart (DIPC) is to design a controller that
bring all DIPC's states, especially the joint angles of the two links,
into the region of attraction of the desired equilibrium. This paper
proposes a new method to swing-up DIPC based on a series of restto-
rest maneuvers of the first link about its vertically upright
configuration while holding the cart fixed at the origin. The rest-torest
maneuvers are designed such that each one results in a net gain
in energy of the second link. This results in swing-up of DIPC-s
configuration to the region of attraction of the desired equilibrium. A
three-step algorithm is provided for swing-up control followed by the
stabilization step. Simulation results with a comparison to an
experimental work done in the literature are presented to demonstrate
the efficacy of the approach.
Abstract: This paper proposes a system to extract images from web pages and then detect the skin color regions of these images. As part of the proposed system, using BandObject control, we built a Tool bar named 'Filter Tool Bar (FTB)' by modifying the Pavel Zolnikov implementation. The Yahoo! Team provides us with the Yahoo! SDK API, which also supports image search and is really useful. In the proposed system, we introduced three new methods for extracting images from the web pages (after loading the web page by using the proposed FTB, before loading the web page physically from the localhost, and before loading the web page from any server). These methods overcome the drawback of the regular expressions method for extracting images suggested by Ilan Assayag. The second part of the proposed system is concerned with the detection of the skin color regions of the extracted images. So, we studied two famous skin color detection techniques. The first technique is based on the RGB color space and the second technique is based on YUV and YIQ color spaces. We modified the second technique to overcome the failure of detecting complex image's background by using the saturation parameter to obtain an accurate skin detection results. The performance evaluation of the efficiency of the proposed system in extracting images before and after loading the web page from localhost or any server in terms of the number of extracted images is presented. Finally, the results of comparing the two skin detection techniques in terms of the number of pixels detected are presented.

the sea water contents a high Mg2+ (50mM) relative to Ca2+ (10mM).
In vivo crystallization, Mg2+ inhibits calcite formation. For this
reason, stony corals skeleton may be formed only aragonite crystals
in the biocalcification. It is special in case of soft corals of which
formed only calcite crystal; however, this interesting phenomenon,
still uncharacterized in the marine environment, has been explored in
this study using newly purified cell-free proteins isolated from the
endoskeletal sclerites of soft coral. By recording the decline of pH in
vitro, the control of CaCO3 nucleation and crystal growth by the cellfree
proteins was revealed. Using Atomic Force Microscope, here we
find that these endoskeletal cell-free proteins significantly design the
morphological shape in the molecular-scale kinetics of crystal
formation and those proteins act as surfactants to promote ion

Abstract: In today scenario, to meet enhanced demand imposed
by domestic, commercial and industrial consumers, various
operational & control activities of Radial Distribution Network
(RDN) requires a focused attention. Irrespective of sub-domains
research aspects of RDN like network reconfiguration, reactive
power compensation and economic load scheduling etc, network
performance parameters are usually estimated by an iterative process
and is commonly known as load (power) flow algorithm. In this
paper, a simple mechanism is presented to implement the load flow
analysis (LFA) algorithm. The reported algorithm utilizes graph
theory principles and is tested on a 69- bus RDN.
Abstract: Due to environmental concerns, the recent regulation on automobile fuel economy has been strengthened. The market demand for efficient vehicles is growing and automakers to improve engine fuel efficiency in the industry have been paying a lot of effort. To improve the fuel efficiency, it is necessary to reduce losses or to improve combustion efficiency of the engine. VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology enhances the engine's intake air flow, reduce pumping losses and mechanical friction losses. And also, VVA technology is the engine's low speed and high speed operation to implement each of appropriate valve lift. It improves the performance of engine in the entire operating range. This paper presents a design procedure of DC motor and drive for VVA system and shows the validity of the design result by experimental result with prototype.
Abstract: Bioprocesses are appreciated as difficult to control because their dynamic behavior is highly nonlinear and time varying, in particular, when they are operating in fed batch mode. The research objective of this study was to develop an appropriate control method for a complex bioprocess and to implement it on a laboratory plant. Hence, an intelligent control structure has been designed in order to produce biomass and to maximize the specific growth rate.
Abstract: Due to the growing dynamic and complexity within
the market environment production enterprises in particular are faced
with new logistic challenges. Moreover, it is here in this dynamic
environment that the Logistic Operating Curve Theory also reaches
its limits as a method for describing the correlations between the
logistic objectives. In order to convert this theory into a method for
dynamically monitoring productions this paper will introduce
methods for reliably and quickly identifying structural changes
relevant to logistics.
Abstract: A SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data
Acquisition) system is an industrial control and monitoring system for
national infrastructures. The SCADA systems were used in a closed
environment without considering about security functionality in the
past. As communication technology develops, they try to connect the
SCADA systems to an open network. Therefore, the security of the
SCADA systems has been an issue. The study of key management for
SCADA system also has been performed. However, existing key
management schemes for SCADA system such as SKE(Key
establishment for SCADA systems) and SKMA(Key management
scheme for SCADA systems) cannot support broadcasting
communication. To solve this problem, an Advanced Key
Management Architecture for Secure SCADA Communication has
been proposed by Choi et al.. Choi et al.-s scheme also has a problem
that it requires lots of computational cost for multicasting
communication. In this paper, we propose an enhanced scheme which
improving computational cost for multicasting communication with
considering the number of keys to be stored in a low power
communication device (RTU).
