Abstract: A scalable QoS aware multicast deployment in
DiffServ networks has become an important research dimension in
recent years. Although multicasting and differentiated services are
two complementary technologies, the integration of the two
technologies is a non-trivial task due to architectural conflicts
between them. A popular solution proposed is to extend the
functionality of the DiffServ components to support multicasting. In
this paper, we propose an algorithm to construct an efficient QoSdriven
multicast tree, taking into account the available bandwidth per
service class. We also present an efficient way to provision the
limited available bandwidth for supporting heterogeneous users. The
proposed mechanism is evaluated using simulated tests. The
simulated result reveals that our algorithm can effectively minimize
the bandwidth use and transmission cost
Abstract: Current image-based individual human recognition
methods, such as fingerprints, face, or iris biometric modalities
generally require a cooperative subject, views from certain aspects,
and physical contact or close proximity. These methods cannot
reliably recognize non-cooperating individuals at a distance in the
real world under changing environmental conditions. Gait, which
concerns recognizing individuals by the way they walk, is a relatively
new biometric without these disadvantages. The inherent gait
characteristic of an individual makes it irreplaceable and useful in
visual surveillance.
In this paper, an efficient gait recognition system for human
identification by extracting two features namely width vector of
the binary silhouette and the MPEG-7-based region-based shape
descriptors is proposed. In the proposed method, foreground objects
i.e., human and other moving objects are extracted by estimating
background information by a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) and
subsequently, median filtering operation is performed for removing
noises in the background subtracted image. A moving target classification
algorithm is used to separate human being (i.e., pedestrian)
from other foreground objects (viz., vehicles). Shape and boundary
information is used in the moving target classification algorithm.
Subsequently, width vector of the outer contour of binary silhouette
and the MPEG-7 Angular Radial Transform coefficients are taken as
the feature vector. Next, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA)
is applied to the selected feature vector to reduce its dimensionality.
These extracted feature vectors are used to train an Hidden Markov
Model (HMM) for identification of some individuals. The proposed
system is evaluated using some gait sequences and the experimental
results show the efficacy of the proposed algorithm.
Abstract: The paper presents the optimization problem for the
multi-element synthetic transmit aperture method (MSTA) in
ultrasound imaging applications. The optimal choice of the transmit
aperture size is performed as a trade-off between the lateral
resolution, penetration depth and the frame rate. Results of the
analysis obtained by a developed optimization algorithm are
presented. Maximum penetration depth and the best lateral resolution
at given depths are chosen as the optimization criteria. The
optimization algorithm was tested using synthetic aperture data of
point reflectors simulated by Filed II program for Matlab® for the
case of 5MHz 128-element linear transducer array with 0.48 mm
pitch are presented. The visualization of experimentally obtained
synthetic aperture data of a tissue mimicking phantom and in vitro
measurements of the beef liver are also shown. The data were
obtained using the SonixTOUCH Research systemequipped with a
linear 4MHz 128 element transducerwith 0.3 mm element pitch, 0.28
mm element width and 70% fractional bandwidth was excited by one
sine cycle pulse burst of transducer's center frequency.
Abstract: It is known that if harmonic spectra are decreased, then
acoustic noise also decreased. Hence, this paper deals with a new
random switching strategy using DSP TMS320F2812 to decrease the
harmonics spectra of single phase switched reluctance motor. The
proposed method which combines random turn-on, turn-off angle
technique and random pulse width modulation technique is shown. A
harmonic spread factor (HSF) is used to evaluate the random
modulation scheme. In order to confirm the effectiveness of the new
method, the experimental results show that the harmonic intensity of
output voltage for the proposed method is better than that for
conventional methods.
Abstract: Versatile dual-mode class-AB CMOS four-quadrant
analog multiplier circuit is presented. The dual translinear loops and
current mirrors are the basic building blocks in realization scheme.
This technique provides; wide dynamic range, wide-bandwidth response
and low power consumption. The major advantages of this
approach are; its has single ended inputs; since its input is dual translinear
loop operate in class-AB mode which make this multiplier
configuration interesting for low-power applications; current multiplying,
voltage multiplying, or current and voltage multiplying can
be obtainable with balanced input. The simulation results of versatile
analog multiplier demonstrate a linearity error of 1.2 %, a -3dB bandwidth
of about 19MHz, a maximum power consumption of 0.46mW,
and temperature compensated. Operation of versatile analog multiplier
was also confirmed through an experiment using CMOS transistor
array.
Abstract: The distributions of stresses and deflection in
rectangular isotropic and orthotropic plates with central
circular hole under transverse static loading have been studied
using finite element method. The aim of author is to analyze
the effect of D/A ratio (where D is hole diameter and A is plate
width) upon stress concentration factor (SCF) and deflection
in isotropic and orthotropic plates under transverse static
loading. The D/A ratio is varied from 0.01 to 0.9. The analysis
is done for plates of isotropic and two different orthotropic
materials. The results are obtained for three different boundary
conditions. The variations of SCF and deflection with respect
to D/A ratio are presented in graphical form and discussed.
The finite element formulation is carried out in the analysis
section of the ANSYS package.
Abstract: A current mirror (CM) based on self cascode MOSFETs low voltage analog and mixed mode structures has been proposed. The proposed CM has high output impedance and can operate at 0.5 V. P-Spice simulations confirm the high performance of this CM with a bandwidth of 6.0 GHz at input current of 100 μA.
Abstract: This paper proposes a low-cost reconfigurable
architecture for AES algorithm. The proposed architecture separates
SubBytes and MixColumns into two parallel data path, and supports
different bit-width operation for this two data path. As a result, different number of S-box can be supported in this architecture. The
throughput and power consumption can be adjusted by changing the
number of S-box running in this design. Using the TSMC 0.18μm CMOS standard cell library, a very low-cost implementation of 7K
Gates is obtained under 182MHz frequency. The maximum throughput is 360Mbps while using 4 S-Box simultaneously, and the
minimum throughput is 114Mbps while only using 1 S-Box
Abstract: In this paper, a modified CCCII is presented. We have used a current mirror with low supply voltage. This circuit is operated at low supply voltage of ±1V. Tspice simulations for TSMC 0.18μm CMOS Technology has shown that the current and voltage bandwidth are respectively 3.34GHz and 4.37GHz, and parasitic resistance at port X has a value of 169.320 for a control current of 120μA. In order to realize this circuit, we have implemented in this first step a universal current mode filter where the frequency can reach the 134.58MHz. In the second step, we have implemented two simulated inductors: one floating and the other grounded. These two inductors are operated in high frequency and variable depending on bias current I0. Finally, we have used the two last inductors respectively to implement two sinusoidal oscillators domains of frequencies respectively: [470MHz, 692MHz], and [358MHz, 572MHz] for bias currents I0 [80μA, 350μA].
