Abstract: The management of COVID-19 patients based on chest imaging is emerging as an essential tool for evaluating the spread of the pandemic which has gripped the global community. It has already been used to monitor the situation of COVID-19 patients who have issues in respiratory status. There has been increase to use chest imaging for medical triage of patients who are showing moderate-severe clinical COVID-19 features, this is due to the fast dispersal of the pandemic to all continents and communities. This article demonstrates the development of machine learning techniques for the test of COVID-19 patients using Chest X-Ray (CXR) images in nearly real-time, to distinguish the COVID-19 infection with a significantly high level of accuracy. The testing performance has covered a combination of different datasets of CXR images of positive COVID-19 patients, patients with viral and bacterial infections, also, people with a clear chest. The proposed AI scheme successfully distinguishes CXR scans of COVID-19 infected patients from CXR scans of viral and bacterial based pneumonia as well as normal cases with an average accuracy of 94.43%, sensitivity 95%, and specificity 93.86%. Predicted decisions would be supported by visual evidence to help clinicians speed up the initial assessment process of new suspected cases, especially in a resource-constrained environment.
Abstract: This research proposes a preemptive fuzzy goal programming model for multi-objective multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling problem. The objectives of the problem are minimization of the total time and the total cost of the project. Objective in a multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problem is often a minimization of makespan. However, both time and cost should be considered at the same time with different level of important priorities. Moreover, all elements of cost functions in a project are not included in the conventional cost objective function. Incomplete total project cost causes an error in finding the project scheduling time. In this research, preemptive fuzzy goal programming is presented to solve the multi-objective multi-mode resource constrained project scheduling problem. It can find the compromise solution of the problem. Moreover, it is also flexible in adjusting to find a variety of alternative solutions.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose an effective relay
communication for layered video transmission as an alternative to
make the most of limited resources in a wireless communication
network where loss often occurs. Relaying brings stable multimedia
services to end clients, compared to multiple description coding
(MDC). Also, retransmission of only parity data about one or more
video layer using channel coder to the end client of the relay device is
paramount to the robustness of the loss situation. Using these
methods in resource-constrained environments, such as real-time user
created content (UCC) with layered video transmission, can provide
high-quality services even in a poor communication environment.
Minimal services are also possible. The mathematical analysis shows
that the proposed method reduced the probability of GOP loss rate
compared to MDC and raptor code without relay. The GOP loss rate
is about zero, while MDC and raptor code without relay have a GOP
loss rate of 36% and 70% in case of 10% frame loss rate.
Abstract: In this paper the multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problem with discounted cash flows is considered. Minimizing the makespan and maximization the net present value (NPV) are the two common objectives that have been investigated in the literature. We apply one evolutionary algorithm named multiobjective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) to find Pareto front solutions. We used standard sets of instances from the project scheduling problem library (PSPLIB). The results are computationally compared respect to different metrics taken from the literature on evolutionary multi-objective optimization.
Abstract: Re-entrant scheduling is an important search problem
with many constraints in the flow shop. In the literature, a number of
approaches have been investigated from exact methods to
meta-heuristics. This paper presents a genetic algorithm that encodes
the problem as multi-level chromosomes to reflect the dependent
relationship of the re-entrant possibility and resource consumption.
The novel encoding way conserves the intact information of the data
and fastens the convergence to the near optimal solutions. To test the
effectiveness of the method, it has been applied to the
resource-constrained re-entrant flow shop scheduling problem.
Computational results show that the proposed GA performs better than
the simulated annealing algorithm in the measure of the makespan
Abstract: Resource-constrained project scheduling is an NPhard
optimisation problem. There are many different heuristic
strategies how to shift activities in time when resource requirements
exceed their available amounts. These strategies are frequently based
on priorities of activities. In this paper, we assume that a suitable
heuristic has been chosen to decide which activities should be
performed immediately and which should be postponed and
investigate the resource-constrained project scheduling problem
(RCPSP) from the implementation point of view. We propose an
efficient routine that, instead of shifting the activities, extends their
duration. It makes it possible to break down their duration into active
and sleeping subintervals. Then we can apply the classical Critical
Path Method that needs only polynomial running time. This
algorithm can simply be adapted for multiproject scheduling with
limited resources.
Abstract: Sensor network applications are often data centric and
involve collecting data from a set of sensor nodes to be delivered
to various consumers. Typically, nodes in a sensor network are
resource-constrained, and hence the algorithms operating in these
networks must be efficient. There may be several algorithms available
implementing the same service, and efficient considerations may
require a sensor application to choose the best suited algorithm. In
this paper, we present a systematic evaluation of a set of algorithms
implementing the data gathering service. We propose a modular
infrastructure for implementing such algorithms in TOSSIM with
separate configurable modules for various tasks such as interest
propagation, data propagation, aggregation, and path maintenance.
By appropriately configuring these modules, we propose a number
of data gathering algorithms, each of which incorporates a different
set of heuristics for optimizing performance. We have performed
comprehensive experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of these
heuristics, and we present results from our experimentation efforts.
Abstract: The Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling
Problem (RCPSP) is concerned with single-item or small batch
production where limited resources have to be allocated to dependent
activities over time. Over the past few decades, a lot of work has
been made with the use of optimal solution procedures for this basic
problem type and its extensions. Brucker and Knust[1] discuss, how
timetabling problems can be modeled as a RCPSP. Authors discuss
high school timetabling and university course timetabling problem as
an example. We have formulated two mathematical formulations of
course timetabling problem in a new way which are the prototype of
single-mode RCPSP. Our focus is to show, how course timetabling
problem can be transformed into RCPSP. We solve this
transformation model with genetic algorithm.
