Abstract: Transliteration is frequently used especially in writing geographic denominations, personal names (onyms) etc. Proper names (onyms) of all languages must sound similarly in translated works as well as in scientific projects and works written in mother tongue, because we can get introduced with the nation, its history, culture, traditions and other spiritual values through the onyms of that nation. Therefore it is necessary to systematize the different transliterations of onyms of foreign languages. This paper is dedicated to the problem of making the project of transliterating Kazakh onyms into Arabic. In order to achieve this goal we use scientific or practical types of transliteration. Because in this type of transliteration provides easy reading writing source language's texts in the target language without any diacritical symbols, it is limited by the target language's alphabetic system.
Abstract: Cutting fluids, usually in the form of a liquid, are
applied to the chip formation zone in order to improve the cutting
conditions. Cutting fluid can be expensive and represents a biological
and environmental hazard that requires proper recycling and
disposal, thus adding to the cost of the machining operation. For
these reasons dry cutting or dry machining has become an
increasingly important approach; in dry machining no coolant or
lubricant is used. This paper discussed the effect of the dry cutting on
cutting force and tool life when machining aerospace materials
(Haynes 242) with using two different coated carbide cutting tools
(TiAlN and TiN/MT-TiCN/TiN). Response surface method (RSM)
was used to minimize the number of experiments. ParTiAlN Swarm
Optimisation (PSO) models were developed to optimize the
machining parameters (cutting speed, federate and axial depth) and
obtain the optimum cutting force and tool life. It observed that
carbide cutting tool coated with TiAlN performed better in dry
cutting compared with TiN/MT-TiCN/TiN. On other hand, TiAlN
performed more superior with using of 100 % water soluble coolant.
Due to the high temperature produced by aerospace materials, the
cutting tool still required lubricant to sustain the heat transfer from
the workpiece.
Abstract: The analysis is mainly concentrating on the knowledge
management literatures productivity trend which subjects as
“knowledge management" in SSCI database. The purpose what the
analysis will propose is to summarize the trend information for
knowledge management researchers since core knowledge will be
concentrated in core categories. The result indicated that the literature
productivity which topic as “knowledge management" is still
increasing extremely and will demonstrate the trend by different
categories including author, country/territory, institution name,
document type, language, publication year, and subject area. Focus on
the right categories, you will catch the core research information. This
implies that the phenomenon "success breeds success" is more
common in higher quality publications.
Abstract: LabVIEW and SIMULINK are two most widely used
graphical programming environments for designing digital signal
processing and control systems. Unlike conventional text-based
programming languages such as C, Cµ and MATLAB, graphical
programming involves block-based code developments, allowing a
more efficient mechanism to build and analyze control systems. In
this paper a LabVIEW environment has been employed as a
graphical user interface for monitoring the operation of a controlled
distillation column, by visualizing both the closed loop performance
and the user selected control conditions, while the column dynamics
has been modeled under the SIMULINK environment. This tool has
been applied to the PID based decoupled control of a binary
distillation column. By means of such integrated environments the
control designer is able to monitor and control the plant behavior and
optimize the response when both, the quality improvement of
distillation products and the operation efficiency tasks, are
considered.
Abstract: This paper attempts to explain response components of Electrovestibulography (EVestG) using a computer simulation of a three-canal model of the vestibular system. EVestG is a potentially new diagnostic method for Meniere's disease. EVestG is a variant of Electrocochleography (ECOG), which has been used as a standard method for diagnosing Meniere's disease - it can be used to measure the SP/AP ratio, where an SP/AP ratio greater than 0.4-0.5 is indicative of Meniere-s Disease. In EVestG, an applied head tilt replaces the acoustic stimulus of ECOG. The EVestG output is also an SP/AP type plot, where SP is the summing potential, and AP is the action potential amplitude. AP is thought of as being proportional to the size of a population of afferents in an excitatory neural firing state. A simulation of the fluid volume displacement in the vestibular labyrinth in response to various types of head tilts (ipsilateral, backwards and horizontal rotation) was performed, and a simple neural model based on these simulations developed. The simple neural model shows that the change in firing rate of the utricle is much larger in magnitude than the change in firing rates of all three semi-circular canals following a head tilt (except in a horizontal rotation). The data suggests that the change in utricular firing rate is a minimum 2-3 orders of magnitude larger than changes in firing rates of the canals during ipsilateral/backward tilts. Based on these results, the neural response recorded by the electrode in our EVestG recordings is expected to be dominated by the utricle in ipsilateral/backward tilts (It is important to note that the effect of the saccule and efferent signals were not taken into account in this model). If the utricle response dominates the EVestG recordings as the modeling results suggest, then EVestG has the potential to diagnose utricular hair cell damage due to a viral infection (which has been cited as one possible cause of Meniere's Disease).
Abstract: In this paper, a wavelet based method is proposed to
identify the constant coefficients of a second order linear system and
is compared with the least squares method. The proposed method
shows improved accuracy of parameter estimation as compared to the
least squares method. Additionally, it has the advantage of smaller
data requirement and storage requirement as compared to the least
squares method.
Abstract: Existing image-based virtual reality applications
allow users to view image-based 3D virtual environment in a more
interactive manner. User could “walkthrough"; looks left, right, up
and down and even zoom into objects in these virtual worlds of
images. However what the user sees during a “zoom in" is just a
close-up view of the same image which was taken from a distant.
Thus, this does not give the user an accurate view of the object from
the actual distance. In this paper, a simple technique for zooming in
an object in a virtual scene is presented. The technique is based on
the 'hotspot' concept in existing application. Instead of navigation
between two different locations, the hotspots are used to focus into
an object in the scene. For each object, several hotspots are created.
A different picture is taken for each hotspot. Each consecutive
hotspot created will take the user closer to the object. This will
provide the user with a correct of view of the object based on his
proximity to the object. Implementation issues and the relevance of
this technique in potential application areas are highlighted.
Abstract: In this paper, the residual stress of thermal spray
coatings in gas turbine component by curvature method has been
studied. The samples and shaft were coated by hard WC-12Co
cermets using high velocity oxy fuel (HVOF) after preparation in
same conditions. The curvature of coated samples was measured by
using of coordinate measurement machine (CMM). The metallurgical
and Tribological studies has been made on the coated shaft using
optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
Abstract: Geographical Information Systems are an integral part
of planning in modern technical systems. Nowadays referred to as
Spatial Decision Support Systems, as they allow synergy database
management systems and models within a single user interface
machine and they are important tools in spatial design for
evaluating policies and programs at all levels of administration.
This work refers to the creation of a Geographical Information
System in the context of a broader research in the area of influence
of an under construction station of the new metro in the Greek
city of Thessaloniki, which included statistical and multivariate
data analysis and diagrammatic representation, mapping and
interpretation of the results.
Abstract: This research presents a fuzzy multi-objective model
for a machine selection problem in a flexible manufacturing system
of a tire company. Two main objectives are minimization of an
average machine error and minimization of the total setup time.
Conventionally, the working team uses trial and error in selecting a
pressing machine for each task due to the complexity and constraints
of the problem. So, both objectives may not satisfy. Moreover, trial
and error takes a lot of time to get the final decision. Therefore, in
this research preemptive fuzzy goal programming model is developed
for solving this multi-objective problem. The proposed model can
obtain the appropriate results that the Decision Making (DM) is
satisfied for both objectives. Besides, alternative choice can be easily
generated by varying the satisfaction level. Additionally, decision
time can be reduced by using the model, which includes all
constraints of the system to generate the solutions. A numerical
example is also illustrated to show the effectiveness of the proposed
model.
Abstract: Bandung city center can be deemed as economic, social and cultural center. However the city center suffers from deterioration. The retail activities tend to shift outward the city center. Numerous idyllic residences changed into business premises in two villages situated in the north part of the city during 1990s, especially after a new highway and flyover opened. According to space syntax theory, the pattern of spatial integration in the urban grid is a prime determinant of movement patterns in the system. The syntactic analysis results show the flyover has insignificant influence on street network in the city center. However the flyover has been generating a major difference in the new commercial area since it has become relatively as strategic as the city center. Besides street network, local government policy, rapid private motorization and particular condition of each site also played important roles in encouraging the current commercial areas to flourish.
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the
relationship between parent involvement and preschool disabled
children’s development. Parents of 3 year old disabled children
(N=440) and 5 year old disabled children (N=937) participating in the
Special Needs Education Longitudinal Study were interviewed or
answered the web design questionnaire about their actions in parenting
their disabled children. These children’s developments were also
evaluated by their teachers. Data were analyzed using Structural
Equation Modeling. Results were showed by tables and figures. Based
on the results, the researcher made some suggestions for future studies.
Abstract: Rutting is one of the major load-related distresses in airport flexible pavements. Rutting in paving materials develop gradually with an increasing number of load applications, usually appearing as longitudinal depressions in the wheel paths and it may be accompanied by small upheavals to the sides. Significant research has been conducted to determine the factors which affect rutting and how they can be controlled. Using the experimental design concepts, a series of tests can be conducted while varying levels of different parameters, which could be the cause for rutting in airport flexible pavements. If proper experimental design is done, the results obtained from these tests can give a better insight into the causes of rutting and the presence of interactions and synergisms among the system variables which have influence on rutting. Although traditionally, laboratory experiments are conducted in a controlled fashion to understand the statistical interaction of variables in such situations, this study is an attempt to identify the critical system variables influencing airport flexible pavement rut depth from a statistical DoE perspective using real field data from a full-scale test facility. The test results do strongly indicate that the response (rut depth) has too much noise in it and it would not allow determination of a good model. From a statistical DoE perspective, two major changes proposed for this experiment are: (1) actual replication of the tests is definitely required, (2) nuisance variables need to be identified and blocked properly. Further investigation is necessary to determine possible sources of noise in the experiment.
Abstract: The experiments were performed in a batch set up
under different concentrations of Cu (II) (0.2 g.l-1 to 0.9 g.l-1), pH (4-
6), temperatures (20oC – 40oC) with varying teak leaves powder (as
biosorbent) dosage of 0.3 g.l-1 to 0.5 g.l-1. The kinetics of interactions
were tested with pseudo first order Lagergran equation and the value
for k1 was found to be 6.909 x 10-3 min-1. The biosorption data gave
a good fit with Langmuir and Fruendlich isotherms and the Langmuir
monolayer capacity (qm) was found to be 166.78 mg. g-1. Similarly
the Freundlich adsorption capacity (Kf) was estimated as 2.49 l g-1.
The mean values of the thermodynamic parameters ΔH, ΔS, and ΔG
were -62.42 KJ. mol-1, -0.219 KJ.mol-1 K-1 and -1.747 KJ.mol-1 at
293 K from a solution containing 0.4 g l-1 of Cu(II) showing the
biosorption to be thermodynamically favourable. These results show
good potentiality of using teak leaves as a biosorbent for the removal
of Cu(II) from aqueous solutions.
Abstract: The aim of this investigation is to study the
performance of the new generation of the PVD coated grade and to
map the influence of cutting conditions on the tool life in milling of
ADI (Austempered Ductile Iron). The results show that chipping is
the main wear mechanism which determines the tool life in dry
condition and notch wear in wet condition for this application. This
due to the different stress mechanisms and preexisting cracks in the
coating. The wear development shows clearly that the new PVD
coating (C20) has the best ability to delay the chipping growth. It
was also found that a high content of Al in the new coating (C20)
was especially favorable compared to a TiAlN multilayer with lower
Al content (C30) or CVD coating. This is due to fine grains and low
compressive stress level in the coating which increase the coating
ability to withstand the mechanical and thermal impact. It was also
found that the use of coolant decreases the tool life with 70-80%
compare to dry milling.
Abstract: A potential flow model is used to study the unsteady
flow past two airfoils in configuration, each of which is suddenly set
into motion. The airfoil bound vortices are modeled using lumped
vortex elements and the wake behind the airfoil is modeled by discrete
vortices. This consists of solving a steady state flow problem at each
time-step where unsteadiness is incorporated through the “zero normal
flow on a solid surface" boundary condition at every time instant.
Additionally, along with the “zero normal flow on a solid surface"
boundary condition Kelvin-s condition is used to compute the strength
of the latest wake vortex shed from the trailing edge of the airfoil.
Location of the wake vortices is updated at each time-step to get the
wake shape at each time instant. Results are presented to show the
effect of airfoil-airfoil interaction and airfoil-wake interaction on the
aerodynamic characteristics of each airfoil.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to summarize the
following protection of scouring countermeasures by using
Bentonite-Enhanced Sand (BES) mixtures. The concept of
underground improvement is being used in this study to reduce the
void of the sand. The sand bentonite mixture was used to bond the
ground soil conditions surrounding the pile of integral bridge. The
right composition of sand bentonite mixture was proposed based on
previous findings. The swelling effect of bentonite also was
investigated to ensure there is no adverse impact to the structure of
the integral bridge. ScourScour, another name for severe erosion,
occurs when the erosive capacity of water resulting from natural and
manmade events exceeds the ability of earth materials to resist its
effects. According to AASHTO LRFD Specifications (Section
C3.7.5), scour is the most common reason for the collapse of
highway bridges in the United States
Abstract: This paper propose a new circuit design which
monitor total leakage current during standby mode and generates the
optimal reverse body bias voltage, by using the adaptive body bias
(ABB) technique to compensate die-to-die parameter variations.
Design details of power monitor are examined using simulation
framework in 65nm and 32nm BTPM model CMOS process.
Experimental results show the overhead of proposed circuit in terms
of its power consumption is about 10 μW for 32nm technology and
about 12 μW for 65nm technology at the same power supply voltage
as the core power supply. Moreover the results show that our
proposed circuit design is not far sensitive to the temperature
variations and also process variations. Besides, uses the simple
blocks which offer good sensitivity, high speed, the continuously
feedback loop.
Abstract: The agricultural organic farming is different from
conventional farming in a way that is aimed at providing a balanced
and constructive action in agricultural systems. With the increase in
intensive agriculture, undesirable changes were being observed in
ecosystems with irreparable damage being caused to the natural
equilibrium. This is the reason for the increasing interest in organic
farming as an environment friendly agricultural production method.
In the present work three red fruits produced in organic farming were
analyzed, namely raspberry, gooseberry and blueberry. The samples
were harvested in a local farm when at plain maturation. The results
obtained allowed to conclude that the blueberry contained higher
amounts of phenolic compounds, total tannins and total anthocyanins
than raspberry and gooseberry. Furthermore, the HPLC analysis
allowed to identify monomeric anthocyanins and phenolic acids in
the three fruits studied.
Abstract: This research uses computational linguistics, an area of study that employs a computer to process natural language, and aims at discerning the patterns that exist in declarative sentences used in technical texts. The approach is mathematical, and the focus is on instructional texts found on web pages. The technique developed by the author and named the MAYA Semantic Technique is used here and organized into four stages. In the first stage, the parts of speech in each sentence are identified. In the second stage, the subject of the sentence is determined. In the third stage, MAYA performs a frequency analysis on the remaining words to determine the verb and its object. In the fourth stage, MAYA does statistical analysis to determine the content of the web page. The advantage of the MAYA Semantic Technique lies in its use of mathematical principles to represent grammatical operations which assist processing and accuracy if performed on unambiguous text. The MAYA Semantic Technique is part of a proposed architecture for an entire web-based intelligent tutoring system. On a sample set of sentences, partial semantics derived using the MAYA Semantic Technique were approximately 80% accurate. The system currently processes technical text in one domain, namely Cµ programming. In this domain all the keywords and programming concepts are known and understood.
