Abstract: Fast changing knowledge systems on the Internet can
be accessed more efficiently with the help of automatic document
summarization and updating techniques. The aim of multi-document
update summary generation is to construct a summary unfolding the
mainstream of data from a collection of documents based on the
hypothesis that the user has already read a set of previous documents.
In order to provide a lot of semantic information from the documents,
deeper linguistic or semantic analysis of the source documents were
used instead of relying only on document word frequencies to select
important concepts. In order to produce a responsive summary,
meaning oriented structural analysis is needed. To address this issue,
the proposed system presents a document summarization approach
based on sentence annotation with aspects, prepositions and named
entities. Semantic element extraction strategy is used to select
important concepts from documents which are used to generate
enhanced semantic summary.
Abstract: Exact solution of an unsteady flow of elastico-viscous
fluid through a porous media in a tube of spherical cross section
under the influence of constant pressure gradient has been obtained in
this paper. Initially, the flow is generated by a constant pressure
gradient. After attaining the steady state, the pressure gradient is
suddenly withdrawn and the resulting fluid motion in a tube of
spherical cross section by taking into account of the porosity factor of
the bounding surface is investigated. The problem is solved in twostages
the first stage is a steady motion in tube under the influence of
a constant pressure gradient, the second stage concern with an
unsteady motion. The problem is solved employing separation of
variables technique. The results are expressed in terms of a nondimensional
porosity parameter (K) and elastico-viscosity parameter
(β), which depends on the Non-Newtonian coefficient. The flow
parameters are found to be identical with that of Newtonian case as
elastic-viscosity parameter tends to zero and porosity tends to
infinity. It is seen that the effect of elastico-viscosity parameter,
porosity parameter of the bounding surface has significant effect on
the velocity parameter.
Abstract: Vegetation affects the mean and turbulent flow
structure. It may increase flood risks and sediment transport.
Therefore, it is important to develop analytical approaches for the bed
shear stress on vegetated bed, to predict resistance caused by
vegetation. In the recent years, experimental and numerical models
have both been developed to model the effects of submerged
vegetation on open-channel flow. In this paper, different analytic
models are compared and tested using the criteria of deviation, to
explore their capacity for predicting the mean velocity and select the
suitable one that will be applied in real case of rivers. The
comparison between the measured data in vegetated flume and
simulated mean velocities indicated, a good performance, in the case
of rigid vegetation, whereas, Huthoff model shows the best
agreement with a high coefficient of determination (R2=80%) and the
smallest error in the prediction of the average velocities.
Abstract: A Motzkin shift is a mathematical model for constraints
on genetic sequences. In terms of the theory of symbolic dynamics,
the Motzkin shift is nonsofic, and therefore, we cannot use the Perron-
Frobenius theory to calculate its topological entropy. The Motzkin
shift M(M,N) which comes from language theory, is defined to be the
shift system over an alphabet A that consists of N negative symbols,
N positive symbols and M neutral symbols. For an x in the full shift,
x will be in the Motzkin subshift M(M,N) if and only if every finite
block appearing in x has a non-zero reduced form. Therefore, the
constraint for x cannot be bounded in length. K. Inoue has shown that
the entropy of the Motzkin shift M(M,N) is log(M + N + 1). In this
paper, a new direct method of calculating the topological entropy of
the Motzkin shift is given without any measure theoretical discussion.
Abstract: This research study aimed to survey and analyze the
attitudes of pre-service teachers’ the analytical thinking development
based on Miller’s Model. The informants of this study were 22 third
year teacher students majoring in Thai. The course where the
instruction was conducted was English for Academic Purposes in
Thai Language 2. The instrument of this research was an open-ended
questionnaire with two dimensions of questions: academic and
satisfaction dimensions. The investigation revealed the positive
attitudes. In the academic dimension, the majority of 12 (54.54%),
the highest percentage, reflected that the method of teaching
analytical thinking and language simultaneously was their new
knowledge and the similar percentage also belonged to text cohesion
in writing. For the satisfaction, the highest frequency count was from
17 of them (77.27%) and this majority favored the openness or
friendliness of the teacher.
Abstract: Construction cost estimation is one of the most
important aspects of construction project design. For generations, the
process of cost estimating has been manual, time-consuming and
error-prone. This has partly led to most cost estimates to be unclear
and riddled with inaccuracies that at times lead to over- or underestimation
of construction cost. The development of standard set of
measurement rules that are understandable by all those involved in a
construction project, have not totally solved the challenges. Emerging
Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies can exploit
standard measurement methods to automate cost estimation process
and improve accuracies. This requires standard measurement
methods to be structured in ontological and machine readable format;
so that BIM software packages can easily read them. Most standard
measurement methods are still text-based in textbooks and require
manual editing into tables or Spreadsheet during cost estimation. The
aim of this study is to explore the development of an ontology based
on New Rules of Measurement (NRM) commonly used in the UK for
cost estimation. The methodology adopted is Methontology, one of
the most widely used ontology engineering methodologies. The
challenges in this exploratory study are also reported and
recommendations for future studies proposed.
Abstract: The increasing demand of gallium, indium and
rare-earth elements for the production of electronics, e.g. solid
state-lighting, photovoltaics, integrated circuits, and liquid crystal
displays, will exceed the world-wide supply according to current
forecasts. Recycling systems to reclaim these materials are not yet in
place, which challenges the sustainability of these technologies. This
paper proposes a multispectral imaging system as a basis for a vision
based recognition system for valuable components of electronics
waste. Multispectral images intend to enhance the contrast of images
of printed circuit boards (single components, as well as labels) for
further analysis, such as optical character recognition and entire
printed circuit board recognition. The results show, that a higher
contrast is achieved in the near infrared compared to ultraviolett and
visible light.
Abstract: Water contamination by toxic compound is one of the serious environmental problems today. These toxic compounds mostly originated from industrial effluents, agriculture, natural sources and human waste. These studies focus on modification of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) with nanoparticle of calixarene and explore the possibility of using this modification for the remediation of cadmium in water. The nanocomposites were prepared by dissolving calixarene in chloroform solution as solvent, followed by additional multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) then sonication process for 3 hour and fabricated the nanocomposites on substrate by spin coating method. Finally, the nanocomposites were tested on cadmium ion (10 mg/ml). The morphology of nanocomposites was investigated by FESEM showing the formation of calixarene on the outer walls of carbon nanotube and cadmium ion also clearly seen from the micrograph. This formation was supported by using energy dispersive x-ray (EDX). The presence of cadmium ions in the films, leads to some changes in the surface potential and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR).The nanocomposites MWCNTs-calixarene have potential for development of sensor for pollutant monitoring and nanoelectronics devices applications.
Abstract: In this report we have discussed the theoretical aspects
of the flow transformation, occurring through a series of bifurcations.
The parameters and their continuous diversion, the intermittent bursts
in the transition zone, variation of velocity and pressure with time,
effect of roughness in turbulent zone, and changes in friction factor
and head loss coefficient as a function of Reynolds number for a
transverse flow across a cylinder have been discussed. An analysis of
the variation in the wake length with Reynolds number was done in
FORTRAN.
Abstract: The paper deals with the usage of speech acts and
politeness strategies in an EFL classroom in Georgia (Rep of). It
explores the students’ and the teachers’ practice of the politeness
strategies and the speech acts of apology, thanking, request,
compliment / encouragement, command, agreeing / disagreeing,
addressing and code switching. The research method includes
observation as well as a questionnaire. The target group involves the
students from Georgian public schools and two certified, experienced
local English teachers. The analysis is based on Searle’s Speech Act
Theory and Brown and Levinson’s politeness strategies. The findings
show that the students have certain knowledge regarding politeness
yet they fail to apply them in English communication. In addition,
most of the speech acts from the classroom interaction are used by
the teachers and not the students. Thereby, it is suggested that
teachers should cultivate the students’ communicative competence
and attempt to give them opportunities to practise more English
speech acts than they do today.
Abstract: This article is to review and understand the new
generation of students to understand their expectations and attitudes.
There are a group of students on school projects, creative work,
educational software and digital signal source, the use of social
networking tools to communicate with friends and a part in the
competition. Today's students have been described as the new
millennium students. They use information and communication
technology in a more creative and innovative at home than at school,
because the information and communication technologies for
different purposes, in the home, usually occur in school. They
collaborate and communicate more effectively when they are at
home. Most children enter school, they will bring about how to use
information and communication technologies, some basic skills and
some tips on how to use information and communication technology
will provide a more advanced than most of the school's expectations.
Many teachers can help students, however, still a lot of work,
"tradition", without a computer, and did not see the "new social
computing networks describe young people to learn and new ways of
working life in the future", in the education system of the benefits of
using a computer.
Abstract: The adsorption efficiency of fired clayey pellets of 5
and 8 mm diameter size for Cu(II) and Zn(II) ion removal from a
waste printing developer was studied. In order to investigate the
influence of contact time, adsorbent mass and pellet size on the
adsorption efficiency the batch mode was carried out. Faster uptake
of copper ion was obtained with the fired clay pellets of 5 mm
diameter size within 30 minutes. The pellets of 8 mm diameter size
showed the higher equilibrium time (60 to 75 minutes) for copper and
zinc ion. The results pointed out that adsorption efficiency increases
with the increase of adsorbent mass. The maximal efficiency is
different for Cu(II) and Zn(II) ion due to the pellet size. Therefore,
the fired clay pellets of 5 mm diameter size present an effective
adsorbent for Cu(II) ion removal (adsorption efficiency is 63.6%),
whereas the fired clay pellets of 8 mm diameter size are the best
alternative for Zn(II) ion removal (adsorption efficiency is 92.8%)
from a waste printing developer.
Abstract: A parametric study on circular thin-walled pipes
subjected to pure bending is performed. Both straight and curved
pipes are considered. Ratio D/t, initial pipe curvature and internal
pressure are the parameters varying in the analyses. The study is
mainly FEA-based.
It is found that negative curvatures (opposite to bending moment)
considerably increase stiffness and buckling limit of the pipe when no
internal pressure is acting and, similarly, positive curvatures decrease
the stiffness and buckling limit. For internal pressurised pipes the
effects of initial pipe curvature are less relevant. Results show that
this phenomenon is in relationship with the cross-section deformation
due to bending moment, which undergoes relevant ovalisation for no
pressurised pipes and little ovalisation for pressurised pipes.
Abstract: In this study, composites were fabricated from oil
palm empty fruit bunch fiber and poly(lactic) acid by extrusion
followed by injection moulding. Surface of the fiber was pre-treated
by ultrasound in an alkali medium and treatment efficiency was
investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis and
Fourier transforms infrared spectrometer (FTIR). Effect of fiber
treatment on composite was characterized by tensile strength (TS),
tensile modulus (TM) and impact strength (IS). Furthermore,
biostrong impact modifier was incorporated into the treated fiber
composite to improve its impact properties. Mechanical testing
showed an improvement of up to 23.5% and 33.6% respectively for
TS and TM of treated fiber composite above untreated fiber
composite. On the other hand incorporation of impact modifier led to
enhancement of about 20% above the initial IS of the treated fiber
composite.
Abstract: In orthopedic surgery there are various situations in
which the surgeon needs to implement methods of cutting and
drilling the bone. With this type of procedure the generated friction
leads to a localized increase in temperature, which may lead to the
bone necrosis. Recognizing the importance of studying this
phenomenon, an experimental evaluation of the temperatures
developed during the procedure of drilling bone has been done.
Additionally the influence of the use of the procedure with / without
additional lubrication during drilling of bone has also been done. The
obtained results are presented and discussed and suggests an
advantage in using additional lubrication as a way to minimize the
appearance of bone tissue necrosis during bone drilling procedures.
Abstract: Universal modeling method well proven for industrial
compressors was applied for design of the high flow rate supersonic
stage. Results were checked by ANSYS CFX and NUMECA Fine
Turbo calculations. The impeller appeared to be very effective at
transonic flow velocities. Stator elements efficiency is acceptable at
design Mach numbers too. Their loss coefficient versus inlet flow
angle performances correlates well with Universal modeling
prediction. The impeller demonstrates ability of satisfactory operation
at design flow rate. Supersonic flow behavior in the impeller inducer
at the shroud blade to blade surface Φ des deserves additional study.

Abstract: The continuous decline of petroleum and natural gas
reserves and non linear rise of oil price has brought about a
realisation of the need for a change in our perpetual dependence on
the fossil fuel. A day to day increased consumption of crude and
petroleum products has made a considerable impact on our foreign
exchange reserves. Hence, an alternate resource for the conversion of
energy (both liquid and gas) is essential for the substitution of
conventional fuels. Biomass is the alternate solution for the present
scenario. Biomass can be converted into both liquid as well as
gaseous fuels and other feedstocks for the industries.
Abstract: This paper introduces novel approaches to partitioning
and mapping in terms of model-based embedded multicore system
engineering and further discusses benefits, industrial relevance and
features in common with existing approaches. In order to assess
and evaluate results, both approaches have been applied to a real
industrial application as well as to various prototypical demonstrative
applications, that have been developed and implemented for
different purposes. Evaluations show, that such applications improve
significantly according to performance, energy efficiency, meeting
timing constraints and covering maintaining issues by using
the AMALTHEA platform and the implemented approaches.
Furthermore, the model-based design provides an open, expandable,
platform independent and scalable exchange format between
OEMs, suppliers and developers on different levels. Our proposed
mechanisms provide meaningful multicore system utilization since
load balancing by means of partitioning and mapping is effectively
performed with regard to the modeled systems including hardware,
software, operating system, scheduling, constraints, configuration and
more data.
Abstract: Many issues about the relationship between auditors in
auditing practices with its stakeholders often heard. It appears in
perspectives of bringing out the variety of phenomena affecting from
the audit practice of greed and not appreciating from the
independency of the audit profession and professional code of ethics.
It becomes a logical consequence in practicing of capitalism in
accounting. The main purpose of this article would like to uncover
the existing auditing practices in Indonesia, especially in Java that
associated with a strong influence of Javanese culture with reluctant
/”shy", politely, "legowo (gratefully accepted)", "ngemong"
(friendly), "not mentholo" (lenient), "tepo seliro" (tolerance),
"ngajeni" (respectful), "acquiescent" and also reveals its relationships
with Non Javanese culture in facing the conflict of interest in
practical of auditing world. The method used by interpretive
approach that emphasizes the role of language, interpret and
understand and see social reality as something other than a label,
name or concept. Global practices in auditing of each country have
particular cultures that affect the standard set by those regulatory
standards results the adaptation of IAS. The majority of parties in
Indonesia is dominated by Javanese racial regulators, so Java culture
is embedded in every audit practices and those conditions in Java
leads auditors in having similar behaviour, sometimes interfere with
standard Java code of conduct must be executed by an auditor.
Auditors who live in Java have the characters of Javanese culture that
is hard to avoid in the audit practice. However, practically, the
auditors still are relevant in their profession.
