Abstract: One of the important tropical diseases is
Chikunkunya. This disease is transmitted between the human by the
insect-borne virus, of the genus Alphavirus. It occurs in Africa, Asia
and the Indian subcontinent. In Thailand, the incidences due to this
disease are increasing every year. In this study, the transmission of
this disease is studied through dynamical model analysis.
Abstract: The commercial finite element program LS-DYNA was employed to evaluate the response and energy absorbing capacity of cylindrical metal tubes that are externally wrapped with composite. The effects of composite wall thickness, loading conditions and fiber ply orientation were examined. The results demonstrate that a wrapped composite can be utilized effectively to enhance the crushing characteristics and energy absorbing capacity of the tubes. Increasing the thickness of the composite increases the mean force and the specific energy absorption under both static and dynamic crushing. The ply pattern affects the energy absorption capacity and the failure mode of the metal tube and the composite material property is also significant in determining energy absorption efficiency.
Abstract: In this paper, a neural network tuned fuzzy controller
is proposed for controlling Multi-Input Multi-Output (MIMO)
systems. For the convenience of analysis, the structure of MIMO
fuzzy controller is divided into single input single-output (SISO)
controllers for controlling each degree of freedom. Secondly,
according to the characteristics of the system-s dynamics coupling, an
appropriate coupling fuzzy controller is incorporated to improve the
performance. The simulation analysis on a two-level mass–spring
MIMO vibration system is carried out and results show the
effectiveness of the proposed fuzzy controller. The performance
though improved, the computational time and memory used is
comparatively higher, because it has four fuzzy reasoning blocks and
number may increase in case of other MIMO system. Then a fuzzy
neural network is designed from a set of input-output training data to
reduce the computing burden during implementation. This control
strategy can not only simplify the implementation problem of fuzzy
control, but also reduce computational time and consume less
memory.
Abstract: This research was conducted in the Lower Namkam
Irrigation Project situated in the Namkam River Basin in Thailand.
Degradation of groundwater quality in some areas is caused by saline
soil spots beneath ground surface. However, the tail regulated gate
structure on the Namkam River, a lateral stream of the Mekong
River. It is aimed for maintaining water level in the river at +137.5 to
+138.5 m (MSL) and flow to the irrigation canals based on a gravity
system since July 2009. It might leach some saline soil spots from
underground to soil surface if lack of understanding of the
conjunctive surface water and groundwater behaviors. This research
has been conducted by continuously the observing of both shallow
and deep groundwater level and quality from existing observation
wells. The simulation of surface water was carried out using a
hydrologic modeling system (HEC-HMS) to compute the ungauged
side flow catchments as the lateral flows for the river system model
(HEC-RAS). The constant water levels in the upstream of the
operated gate caused a slight rising up of shallow groundwater level
when compared to the water table. However, the groundwater levels
in the confined aquifers remained less impacted than in the shallow
aquifers but groundwater levels in late of wet season in some wells
were higher than the phreatic surface. This causes salinization of the
groundwater at the soil surface and might affect some crops. This
research aims for the balance of water stage in the river and efficient
groundwater utilization in this area.
Abstract: A stiffened laminated composite panel (1 m length ×
0.5m width) was optimized for minimum weight and deflection under
several constraints using genetic algorithm. Here, a significant study
on the performance of a penalty function with two kinds of static and
dynamic penalty factors was conducted. The results have shown that
linear dynamic penalty factors are more effective than the static ones.
Also, a specially combined linear-exponential function has shown to
perform more effective than the previously mentioned penalty
functions. This was then resulted in the less sensitivity of the GA to
the amount of penalty factor.
Abstract: There is a complex situation on the transport environment in the cities of the world. For the analysis and prevention of environmental problems an accurate calculation hazardous substances concentrations at each point of the investigated area is required. In the turbulent atmosphere of the city the wellknown methods of mathematical statistics for these tasks cannot be applied with a satisfactory level of accuracy. Therefore, to solve this class of problems apparatus of mathematical physics is more appropriate. In such models, because of the difficulty as a rule the influence of uneven land surface on streams of air masses in the turbulent atmosphere of the city are not taken into account. In this paper the influence of the surface roughness, which can be quite large, is mathematically shown. The analysis of this problem under certain conditions identified the possibility of areas appearing in the atmosphere with pressure tending to infinity, i.e. so-called "wall effect".
Abstract: The recent advances in computational fluid dynamics
(CFD) can be useful in observing the detailed hemodynamics in
cerebral aneurysms for understanding not only their formation and
rupture but also for clinical evaluation and treatment. However,
important hemodynamic quantities are difficult to measure in vivo. In
the present study, an approximate model of normal middle cerebral
artery (MCA) along with two cases consisting broad and narrow
saccular aneurysms are analyzed. The models are generated in
ANSYS WORKBENCH and transient analysis is performed in
ANSYS-CFX. The results obtained are compared for three cases and
agree well with the available literature.
Abstract: This research paper presents a framework on how to
build up malware dataset.Many researchers took longer time to
clean the dataset from any noise or to transform the dataset into a
format that can be used straight away for testing. Therefore, this
research is proposing a framework to help researchers to speed up
the malware dataset cleaningprocesses which later can be used for
testing. It is believed, an efficient malware dataset cleaning
processes, can improved the quality of the data, thus help to improve
the accuracy and the efficiency of the subsequent analysis. Apart
from that, an in-depth understanding of the malware taxonomy is
also important prior and during the dataset cleaning processes. A
new Trojan classification has been proposed to complement this
framework.This experiment has been conducted in a controlled lab
environment and using the dataset from VxHeavens dataset. This
framework is built based on the integration of static and dynamic
analyses, incident response method and knowledge database
discovery (KDD) processes.This framework can be used as the basis
guideline for malware researchers in building malware dataset.
Abstract: A method has been developed for preparing load
models for power flow and stability. The load modeling
(LOADMOD) computer software transforms data on load class mix,
composition, and characteristics into the from required for
commonly–used power flow and transient stability simulation
programs. Typical default data have been developed for load
composition and characteristics. This paper defines LOADMOD
software and describes the dynamic and static load modeling
techniques used in this software and results of initial testing for
BAKHTAR power system.
Abstract: An increasingly dynamic and complex environment poses huge challenges to production enterprises, especially with regards to logistics. The Logistic Operating Curve Theory, developed at the Institute of Production Systems and Logistics (IFA) of the Leibniz University of Hanover, is a recognized approach to describing logistic interactions, nevertheless, it reaches its limits when it comes to the dynamic aspects. In order to facilitate a timely and optimal Logistic Positioning a method is developed for quickly and reliably identifying dynamic processing states.
Abstract: This paper introduces a technique for simulating a
single-server exponential queuing system. The technique called the
Q-Simulator is a computer program which can simulate the effect of
traffic intensity on all system average quantities given the arrival
and/or service rates. The Q-Simulator has three phases namely: the
formula based method, the uncontrolled simulation, and the
controlled simulation. The Q-Simulator generates graphs (crystal
solutions) for all results of the simulation or calculation and can be
used to estimate desirable average quantities such as waiting times,
queue lengths, etc.
Abstract: This paper presents a numerical investigation of the
unsteady flow around an American 19th century vertical-axis
windmill: the Stevens & Jolly rotor, patented on April 16, 1895. The
computational approach used is based on solving the complete
transient Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (t-RANS) equations: a
full campaign of numerical simulation has been performed using the
k-ω SST turbulence model. Flow field characteristics have been
investigated for several values of tip speed ratio and for a constant
unperturbed free-stream wind velocity of 6 m/s, enabling the study of
some unsteady flow phenomena in the rotor wake. Finally, the global
power generated from the windmill has been determined for each
simulated angular velocity, allowing the calculation of the rotor
power-curve.
Abstract: Increasing concerns over climate change have limited
the liberal usage of available energy technology options. India faces
a formidable challenge to meet its energy needs and provide adequate
energy of desired quality in various forms to users in sustainable
manner at reasonable costs. In this paper, work carried out with an
objective to study the role of various energy technology options
under different scenarios namely base line scenario, high nuclear
scenario, high renewable scenario, low growth and high growth rate
scenario. The study has been carried out using Model for Energy
Supply Strategy Alternatives and their General Environmental
Impacts (MESSAGE) model which evaluates the alternative energy
supply strategies with user defined constraints on fuel availability,
environmental regulations etc. The projected electricity demand, at
the end of study period i.e. 2035 is 500490 MWYr. The model
predicted the share of the demand by Thermal: 428170 MWYr,
Hydro: 40320 MWYr, Nuclear: 14000 MWYr, Wind: 18000 MWYr
in the base line scenario. Coal remains the dominant fuel for
production of electricity during the study period. However, the
import dependency of coal increased during the study period. In
baseline scenario the cumulative carbon dioxide emissions upto 2035
are about 11,000 million tones of CO2. In the scenario of high nuclear
capacity the carbon dioxide emissions reduced by 10 % when nuclear
energy share increased to 9 % compared to 3 % in baseline scenario.
Similarly aggressive use of renewables reduces 4 % of carbon
dioxide emissions.
Abstract: A wideband 2-1-1 cascaded ΣΔ modulator with a
single-bit quantizer in the two first stages and a 4-bit quantizer in the
final stage is developed. To reduce sensitivity of digital-to-analog
converter (DAC) nonlinearities in the feedback of the last stage,
dynamic element matching (DEM) is introduced. This paper presents
two modelling approaches: The first is MATLAB description and the
second is VHDL-AMS modelling of the proposed architecture and
exposes some high-level-simulation results allowing a behavioural
study. The detail of both ideal and non-ideal behaviour modelling are
presented. Then, the study of the effect of building blocks
nonidealities is presented; especially the influences of nonlinearity,
finite operational amplifier gain, amplifier slew rate limitation and
capacitor mismatch. A VHDL-AMS description presents a good
solution to predict system-s performances and can provide sensitivity
curves giving the impact of nonidealities on the system performance.
Abstract: Though nonlinear dynamic analysis using a specialized
hydro-code such as AUTODYN is accurate and useful tool for
progressive collapse assessment of a multi-story building subjected to
blast load, it takes too much time to be applied to a practical simulation
of progressive collapse of a tall building. In this paper, blast analysis of
a RC frame structure using a simplified model with Reinforcement
Contact technique provided in Ansys Workbench was introduced and
investigated on its accuracy. Even though the simplified model has a
fraction of elements of the detailed model, the simplified model with
this modeling technique shows similar structural behavior under the
blast load to the detailed model. The proposed modeling method can
be effectively applied to blast loading progressive collapse analysis of
a RC frame structure.
Abstract: In this paper a numerical simulation of electric and
hydrodynamic fields distribution in an electrofilter for dielectric
liquids cell is made. The simulation is made with the purpose to
determine the trajectory of particles that moves under the action of
external force in an electric and hydrodynamic field created inside of
an electrofilter for dielectric liquids. Particle trajectory is analyzed
for a dielectric liquid-solid particles suspension.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate the kinematics of undulatory elongated fish swimming against a velocity flow. We perform the experiments on European eel Anguilla Anguilla swimming in a hydrodynamic re-circulating tank with the velocity flow fixed at 0.2 m/s. We find that the undulating shape of overall eel body changes when it swims slantwise from the flow direction, by comparison to axial undulation shape. We examine this kinematics and we propose a general equation describing the lateral position of undulation body taking into account the direction of the eel-s swimming.
Abstract: This paper focuses on a critical component of the situational awareness (SA), the control of autonomous vertical flight for an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Autonomous vertical flight is a challenging but important task for tactical UAVs to achieve high level of autonomy under adverse conditions. With the SA strategy, we proposed a two stage flight control procedure using two autonomous control subsystems to address the dynamics variation and performance requirement difference in initial and final stages of flight trajectory for a nontrivial nonlinear trirotor mini-UAV model. This control strategy for chosen mini-UAV model has been verified by simulation of hovering maneuvers using software package Simulink and demonstrated good performance for fast SA in realtime search-and-rescue operations.
Abstract: The rising growth of the GSM cellular phone industry has tightening competition level between providers in making strategies enhancing the market shares in Indonesia. Tsel, as one of those companies, has to determine the proper strategy to sustain as well as improve the market share without reducing its operational income level. Portfolio simulation model is designed with a dynamic system approach. The result of this research is a recommendation to the company by optimizing its technological policies, services, and promotions. The tariff policies and the signal quality should not be the main focus because this company has had a large number of customers and a good infrastructural condition.
Abstract: The radio frequency identification (RFID) is a
technology for automatic identification of items, particularly in
supply chain, but it is becoming increasingly important for industrial
applications. Unlike barcode technology that detects the optical
signals reflected from barcode labels, RFID uses radio waves to
transmit the information from an RFID tag affixed to the physical
object. In contrast to today most often use of this technology in
warehouse inventory and supply chain, the focus of this paper is an
overview of the structure of RFID systems used by RFID technology
and it also presents a solution based on the application of RFID for
brand authentication, traceability and tracking, by implementing a
production management system and extending its use to traders.
