Abstract: In Public Wireless LANs(PWLANs), user anonymity
is an essential issue. Recently, Juang et al. proposed an anonymous
authentication and key exchange protocol using smart cards in
PWLANs. They claimed that their proposed scheme provided identity
privacy, mutual authentication, and half-forward secrecy. In this paper,
we point out that Juang et al.'s protocol is vulnerable to the
stolen-verifier attack and does not satisfy user anonymity.
Abstract: This paper presents design trade-off and performance impacts of
the amount of pipeline phase of control path signals in a wormhole-switched
network-on-chip (NoC). The numbers of the pipeline phase of the control
path vary between two- and one-cycle pipeline phase. The control paths
consist of the routing request paths for output selection and the arbitration
paths for input selection. Data communications between on-chip routers are
implemented synchronously and for quality of service, the inter-router data
transports are controlled by using a link-level congestion control to avoid
lose of data because of an overflow. The trade-off between the area (logic
cell area) and the performance (bandwidth gain) of two proposed NoC router
microarchitectures are presented in this paper. The performance evaluation is
made by using a traffic scenario with different number of workloads under
2D mesh NoC topology using a static routing algorithm. By using a 130-nm
CMOS standard-cell technology, our NoC routers can be clocked at 1 GHz,
resulting in a high speed network link and high router bandwidth capacity
of about 320 Gbit/s. Based on our experiments, the amount of control path
pipeline stages gives more significant impact on the NoC performance than
the impact on the logic area of the NoC router.
Abstract: A state of the art Speaker Identification (SI) system
requires a robust feature extraction unit followed by a speaker
modeling scheme for generalized representation of these features.
Over the years, Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC)
modeled on the human auditory system has been used as a standard
acoustic feature set for speech related applications. On a recent
contribution by authors, it has been shown that the Inverted Mel-
Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (IMFCC) is useful feature set for
SI, which contains complementary information present in high
frequency region. This paper introduces the Gaussian shaped filter
(GF) while calculating MFCC and IMFCC in place of typical
triangular shaped bins. The objective is to introduce a higher
amount of correlation between subband outputs. The performances
of both MFCC & IMFCC improve with GF over conventional
triangular filter (TF) based implementation, individually as well as
in combination. With GMM as speaker modeling paradigm, the
performances of proposed GF based MFCC and IMFCC in
individual and fused mode have been verified in two standard
databases YOHO, (Microphone Speech) and POLYCOST
(Telephone Speech) each of which has more than 130 speakers.
Abstract: In diversity rich environments, such as in Ultra-
Wideband (UWB) applications, the a priori determination of the
number of strong diversity branches is difficult, because of the considerably large number of diversity paths, which are characterized
by a variety of power delay profiles (PDPs). Several
Rake implementations have been proposed in the past, in order to reduce the number of the estimated and combined paths. To this
aim, we introduce two adaptive Rake receivers, which combine
a subset of the resolvable paths considering simultaneously the
quality of both the total combining output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the individual SNR of each path. These schemes achieve
better adaptation to channel conditions compared to other known receivers, without further increasing the complexity. Their performance
is evaluated in different practical UWB channels, whose models are based on extensive propagation measurements. The
proposed receivers compromise between the power consumption,
complexity and performance gain for the additional paths, resulting in important savings in power and computational resources.
Abstract: This paper presents an adaptive technique for generation
of data required for construction of artificial neural network-based
performance model of nano-scale CMOS inverter circuit. The training
data are generated from the samples through SPICE simulation. The
proposed algorithm has been compared to standard progressive sampling
algorithms like arithmetic sampling and geometric sampling.
The advantages of the present approach over the others have been
demonstrated. The ANN predicted results have been compared with
actual SPICE results. A very good accuracy has been obtained.
Abstract: Gaussian mixture background model is widely used in
moving target detection of the image sequences. However, traditional
Gaussian mixture background model usually considers the time
continuity of the pixels, and establishes background through statistical
distribution of pixels without taking into account the pixels- spatial
similarity, which will cause noise, imperfection and other problems.
This paper proposes a new Gaussian mixture modeling approach,
which combines the color and gradient of the spatial information, and
integrates the spatial information of the pixel sequences to establish
Gaussian mixture background. The experimental results show that the
movement background can be extracted accurately and efficiently, and
the algorithm is more robust, and can work in real time in tracking
applications.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a supervised method for
color image classification based on a multilevel sigmoidal neural
network (MSNN) model. In this method, images are classified into
five categories, i.e., “Car", “Building", “Mountain", “Farm" and
“Coast". This classification is performed without any segmentation
processes. To verify the learning capabilities of the proposed method,
we compare our MSNN model with the traditional Sigmoidal Neural
Network (SNN) model. Results of comparison have shown that the
MSNN model performs better than the traditional SNN model in the
context of training run time and classification rate. Both color
moments and multi-level wavelets decomposition technique are used
to extract features from images. The proposed method has been
tested on a variety of real and synthetic images.
Abstract: This paper presents a systematic approach for the
design of power system stabilizer using genetic algorithm and
investigates the robustness of the GA based PSS. The proposed
approach employs GA search for optimal setting of PSS parameters.
The performance of the proposed GPSS under small and large
disturbances, loading conditions and system parameters is tested.
The eigenvalue analysis and nonlinear simulation results show the
effectiveness of the GPSS to damp out the system oscillations. It is
found tat the dynamic performance with the GPSS shows improved
results, over conventionally tuned PSS over a wide range of
operating conditions.
Abstract: It is important to give input information without other device in AR system. One solution is using hand for augmented reality application. Many researchers have proposed different solutions for hand interface in augmented reality. Analyze Histogram and connecting factor is can be example for that. Various Direction searching is one of robust way to recognition hand but it takes too much calculating time. And background should be distinguished with skin color. This paper proposes a hand tracking method to control the 3D object in augmented reality using depth device and skin color. Also in this work discussed relationship between several markers, which is based on relationship between camera and marker. One marker used for displaying virtual object and three markers for detecting hand gesture and manipulating the virtual object.
Abstract: Scale Time Offset Robust Modulation (STORM) [1]–
[3] is a high bandwidth waveform design that adds time-scale
to embedded reference modulations using only time-delay [4]. In
an environment where each user has a specific delay and scale,
identification of the user with the highest signal power and that
user-s phase is facilitated by the STORM processor. Both of these
parameters are required in an efficient multiuser detection algorithm.
In this paper, the STORM modulation approach is evaluated with
a direct sequence spread quadrature phase shift keying (DS-QPSK)
system. A misconception of the STORM time scale modulation is that
a fine temporal resolution is required at the receiver. STORM will
be applied to a QPSK code division multiaccess (CDMA) system
by modifying the spreading codes. Specifically, the in-phase code
will use a typical spreading code, and the quadrature code will
use a time-delayed and time-scaled version of the in-phase code.
Subsequently, the same temporal resolution in the receiver is required
before and after the application of STORM. In this paper, the bit error
performance of STORM in a synchronous CDMA system is evaluated
and compared to theory, and the bit error performance of STORM
incorporated in a single user WCDMA downlink is presented to
demonstrate the applicability of STORM in a modern communication
system.
Abstract: Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are emerging
because of the developments in wireless communication technology and miniaturization of the hardware. WSN consists of a large number of low-cost, low-power, multifunctional sensor nodes to monitor physical conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure,
motion, etc. The MAC protocol to be used in the sensor networks must be energy efficient and this should aim at conserving the energy during its operation. In this paper, with the focus of analyzing the
MAC protocols used in wireless Adhoc networks to WSN, simulation
experiments were conducted in Global Mobile Simulator
(GloMoSim) software. Number of packets sent by regular nodes, and received by sink node in different deployment strategies, total energy
spent, and the network life time have been chosen as the metric for comparison. From the results of simulation, it is evident that the IEEE 802.11 protocol performs better compared to CSMA and MACA protocols.
Abstract: This paper proposes new hybrid approaches for face
recognition. Gabor wavelets representation of face images is an
effective approach for both facial action recognition and face
identification. Perform dimensionality reduction and linear
discriminate analysis on the down sampled Gabor wavelet faces can
increase the discriminate ability. Nearest feature space is extended to
various similarity measures. In our experiments, proposed Gabor
wavelet faces combined with extended neural net feature space
classifier shows very good performance, which can achieve 93 %
maximum correct recognition rate on ORL data set without any preprocessing
step.
Abstract: In this paper the neural network-based controller is
designed for motion control of a mobile robot. This paper treats the
problems of trajectory following and posture stabilization of the
mobile robot with nonholonomic constraints. For this purpose the
recurrent neural network with one hidden layer is used. It learns
relationship between linear velocities and error positions of the
mobile robot. This neural network is trained on-line using the
backpropagation optimization algorithm with an adaptive learning
rate. The optimization algorithm is performed at each sample time to
compute the optimal control inputs. The performance of the proposed
system is investigated using a kinematic model of the mobile robot.

for broadband data transmission in a large area with low cost and
acceptable QoS. These features- trade offs in WMNs is a hot research
field nowadays. In this paper a mathematical optimization framework
has been developed to maximize throughput according to upper

Abstract: This paper presents a genetic algorithm based
approach for solving security constrained optimal power flow
problem (SCOPF) including FACTS devices. The optimal location of
FACTS devices are identified using an index called overload index
and the optimal values are obtained using an enhanced genetic
algorithm. The optimal allocation by the proposed method optimizes
the investment, taking into account its effects on security in terms of
the alleviation of line overloads. The proposed approach has been
tested on IEEE-30 bus system to show the effectiveness of the
proposed algorithm for solving the SCOPF problem.
Abstract: This paper presents an algorithm which extends the rapidly-exploring random tree (RRT) framework to deal with change of the task environments. This algorithm called the Retrieval RRT Strategy (RRS) combines a support vector machine (SVM) and RRT and plans the robot motion in the presence of the change of the surrounding environment. This algorithm consists of two levels. At the first level, the SVM is built and selects a proper path from the bank of RRTs for a given environment. At the second level, a real path is planned by the RRT planners for the given environment. The suggested method is applied to the control of KUKA™,, a commercial 6 DOF robot manipulator, and its feasibility and efficiency are demonstrated via the cosimulatation of MatLab™, and RecurDyn™,.
Abstract: Wheel-running type moving robot has the restriction
on the moving range caused by obstacles or stairs. Solving this
weakness, we studied the development of moving robot using airship.
Our airship robot moves by recognizing arrow marks on the path. To
have the airship robot recognize arrow marks, we used edge-based
template matching. To control propeller units, we used PID and PD
controller. The results of experiments demonstrated that the airship
robot can move along the marks and can go up and down the stairs. It is
shown the possibility that airship robot can become a robot which can
move at wide range facilities.
Abstract: Liver segmentation is the first significant process for
liver diagnosis of the Computed Tomography. It segments the liver
structure from other abdominal organs. Sophisticated filtering techniques
are indispensable for a proper segmentation. In this paper, we
employ a 3D anisotropic diffusion as a preprocessing step. While
removing image noise, this technique preserve the significant parts
of the image, typically edges, lines or other details that are important
for the interpretation of the image. The segmentation task is done
by using thresholding with automatic threshold values selection and
finally the false liver region is eliminated using 3D connected component.
The result shows that by employing the 3D anisotropic filtering,
better liver segmentation results could be achieved eventhough simple
segmentation technique is used.
Abstract: Dynamic models of power converters are normally
time-varying because of their switching actions. Several approaches
are applied to analyze the power converters to achieve the timeinvariant
models suitable for system analysis and design via the
classical control theory. The paper presents how to derive dynamic
models of the power system consisting of a three-phase controlled
rectifier feeding an uncontrolled buck converter by using the
combination between the well known techniques called the DQ and
the generalized state-space averaging methods. The intensive timedomain
simulations of the exact topology model are used to support
the accuracies of the reported model. The results show that the
proposed model can provide good accuracies in both transient and
steady-state responses.
