Abstract: In this paper, we study the Minimum Latency Broadcast
Scheduling (MLBS) problem in wireless sensor networks (WSNs).
The main issue of the MLBS problem is to compute schedules
with the minimum number of timeslots such that a base station can
broadcast data to all other sensor nodes with no collisions. Unlike
existing works that utilize the traditional omni-directional WSNs,
we target the directional WSNs where nodes can collaboratively
determine and orientate their antenna directions. We first develop
a 7-approximation algorithm, adopting directional WSNs. Our ratio
is currently the best, to the best of our knowledge. We then validate
the performance of the proposed algorithm through simulation.
Abstract: Brushless DC motor with high torque density and slim
topology for easy loading for robot system is proposed and
manufactured. Electromagnetic design is executed by equivalent
magnetic circuit model and numerical analysis. Manufactured motor is
tested and verified characteristics comparing with conventional BLDC
motor.
Abstract: Due to environmental concerns, the recent regulation on automobile fuel economy has been strengthened. The market demand for efficient vehicles is growing and automakers to improve engine fuel efficiency in the industry have been paying a lot of effort. To improve the fuel efficiency, it is necessary to reduce losses or to improve combustion efficiency of the engine. VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology enhances the engine's intake air flow, reduce pumping losses and mechanical friction losses. And also, VVA technology is the engine's low speed and high speed operation to implement each of appropriate valve lift. It improves the performance of engine in the entire operating range. This paper presents a design procedure of DC motor and drive for VVA system and shows the validity of the design result by experimental result with prototype.

A photovoltaic(PV) generation system is used for charging batteries in many cases. A dc/dc converter using PV power for a battery charger
requires a high efficiency. In this paper, A ZVS boost converter using the renewable energies for HEV charger is proposed. Through the theoretical analysis and experimental result, operation modes and characteristics of the proposed topology are verified.
Abstract: A brushless DC motor with integrated drive circuit for air management system is presented. Using magnetic equivalent circuit model a basic design of the motor is determined, and specific configurations are inspected thanks to finite element analysis. In order to reduce an unbalanced magnetic force in an axial direction, induced forces between a stator core and a permanent magnet are calculated with respect to the relative positions of them. For the high efficiency, and high power density, BLDC motor and drive are developed. Also vibration mode and eccentricity of a rotor are considered at the rated and maximum rotational speed Through the experimental results, a validity of the simulated one is confirmed.
Abstract: Studies on the distribution of traffic demands have
been proceeding by providing traffic information for reducing
greenhouse gases and reinforcing the road's competitiveness in the
transport section, however, since it is preferentially required the
extensive studies on the driver's behavior changing routes and its
influence factors, this study has been developed a discriminant model
for changing routes considering driving conditions including traffic
conditions of roads and driver's preferences for information media. It
is divided into three groups depending on driving conditions in group
classification with the CART analysis, which is statistically
meaningful. And the extent that driving conditions and preferred
media affect a route change is examined through a discriminant
analysis, and it is developed a discriminant model equation to predict a
route change. As a result of building the discriminant model equation,
it is shown that driving conditions affect a route change much more,
the entire discriminant hit ratio is derived as 64.2%, and this
discriminant equation shows high discriminant ability more than a
certain degree.
Abstract: In this study, we experiment on precise control outlet
temperature of water from the water cooler with hot-gas bypass
method based on PI control logic for machine tool. Recently, technical
trend for machine tools is focused on enhancement of speed and
accuracy. High speedy processing causes thermal and structural
deformation of objects from the machine tools. Water cooler has to be
applied to machine tools to reduce the thermal negative influence with
accurate temperature controlling system. The goal of this study is to
minimize temperature error in steady state. In addition, control period
of an electronic expansion valve were considered to increment of
lifetime of the machine tools and quality of product with a water
cooler.
