Abstract: General as well as the MSW management in Thailand is reviewed in this paper. Topics include the MSW generation, sources, composition, and trends. The review, then, moves to sustainable solutions for MSW management, sustainable alternative approaches with an emphasis on an integrated MSW management. Information of waste in Thailand is also given at the beginning of this paper for better understanding of later contents. It is clear that no one single method of MSW disposal can deal with all materials in an environmentally sustainable way. As such, a suitable approach in MSW management should be an integrated approach that could deliver both environmental and economic sustainability. With increasing environmental concerns, the integrated MSW management system has a potential to maximize the useable waste materials as well as produce energy as a by-product. In Thailand, the compositions of waste (86%) are mainly organic waste, paper, plastic, glass, and metal. As a result, the waste in Thailand is suitable for an integrated MSW management. Currently, the Thai national waste management policy starts to encourage the local administrations to gather into clusters to establish central MSW disposal facilities with suitable technologies and reducing the disposal cost based on the amount of MSW generated.
Abstract: This project focuses on the development of a line
follower algorithm for a Two Wheels Balancing Robot. In this
project, ATMEGA32 is chosen as the brain board controller to react
towards the data received from Balance Processor Chip on the
balance board to monitor the changes of the environment through
two infra-red distance sensor to solve the inclination angle problem.
Hence, the system will immediately restore to the set point (balance
position) through the implementation of internal PID algorithms at
the balance board. Application of infra-red light sensors with the PID
control is vital, in order to develop a smooth line follower robot. As a
result of combination between line follower program and internal self
balancing algorithms, we are able to develop a dynamically
stabilized balancing robot with line follower function.
Abstract: Microparticles carrier systems made from naturally occurring polymers based on chitosan/casein system appears to be a promising carrier for the sustained release of orally and parenteral administered drugs. In the current study we followed a microencapsulation technique based aqueous coacervation method to prepare chitosan/casein microparticles of compositions 1:1, 1:2 and 1:5 incorporated with chloramphenicol. Glutaraldehyde was used as a chemical cross-linking agent. The microparticles were prepared by aerosol method and studied by optical microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, thermo gravimetric analysis, swelling studies and drug release studies at various pH. The percentage swelling of the polymers are found to be in the order pH 4 > pH 10 > pH 7 and the increase in casein composition decrease the swelling percentage. The drug release studies also follow the above order.
Abstract: The desulfurization of coal using biological methods is an emerging technology. The biodesulfurization process uses the catalytic activity of chemolithotrophic acidpohiles in removing sulfur and pyrite from the coal. The present study was undertaken to examine the potential of Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans in removing the pyritic sulfur and iron from high iron and sulfur containing US coal. The experiment was undertaken in 10 L batch stirred tank reactor having 10% pulp density of coal. The reactor was operated under mesophilic conditions and aerobic conditions were maintained by sparging the air into the reactor. After 35 days of experiment, about 64% of pyrite and 21% of pyritic sulfur was removed from the coal. The findings of the present study indicate that the biodesulfurization process does have potential in treating the high pyrite and sulfur containing coal. A good mass balance was also obtained with net loss of about 5% showing its feasibility for large scale application.
Abstract: Network on Chip (NoC) has emerged as a promising
on chip communication infrastructure. Three Dimensional Integrate
Circuit (3D IC) provides small interconnection length between layers
and the interconnect scalability in the third dimension, which can
further improve the performance of NoC. Therefore, in this paper,
a hierarchical cluster-based interconnect architecture is merged with
the 3D IC. This interconnect architecture significantly reduces the
number of long wires. Since this architecture only has approximately
a quarter of routers in 3D mesh-based architecture, the average
number of hops is smaller, which leads to lower latency and higher
throughput. Moreover, smaller number of routers decreases the area
overhead. Meanwhile, some dual links are inserted into the bottlenecks
of communication to improve the performance of NoC.
Simulation results demonstrate our theoretical analysis and show the
advantages of our proposed architecture in latency, throughput and
area, when compared with 3D mesh-based architecture.
Abstract: Petri Net (PN) has proven to be effective graphical, mathematical, simulation, and control tool for Discrete Event Systems (DES). But, with the growth in the complexity of modern industrial, and communication systems, PN found themselves inadequate to address the problems of uncertainty, and imprecision in data. This gave rise to amalgamation of Fuzzy logic with Petri nets and a new tool emerged with the name of Fuzzy Petri Nets (FPN). Although there had been a lot of research done on FPN and a number of their applications have been anticipated, but their basic types and structure are still ambiguous. Therefore, in this research, an effort is made to categorize FPN according to their structure and algorithms Further, literature review of the applications of FPN in the light of their classifications has been done.

Abstract: Breastfeeding has been receiving much attention of late. Prolonged sitting for breastfeeding often results in back pain of the mothers. This paper reports the findings of a study on the effect of some factors, especially lumbar support, on back pain of breastfeeding mothers. The results showed that the use of lumbar support can reduce back pain of breastfeeding mothers significantly. Back pain was found to increase with breastfeeding time and the rate of increase was lower when lumbar supports were used. When lumbar support thickness was increased gradually from zero (no support) to 11 cm., the degree of low back pain decreased; rapidly at first, then slowly, and leveled off when the thickness reached 9 cm. Younger mothers were less prone to back pain than older mothers. The implications of the findings are discussed.
Abstract: One of the popular methods for recognition of facial
expressions such as happiness, sadness and surprise is based on
deformation of facial features. Motion vectors which show these
deformations can be specified by the optical flow. In this method, for
detecting emotions, the resulted set of motion vectors are compared
with standard deformation template that caused by facial expressions.
In this paper, a new method is introduced to compute the quantity of
likeness in order to make decision based on the importance of
obtained vectors from an optical flow approach. For finding the
vectors, one of the efficient optical flow method developed by
Gautama and VanHulle[17] is used. The suggested method has been
examined over Cohn-Kanade AU-Coded Facial Expression Database,
one of the most comprehensive collections of test images available.
The experimental results show that our method could correctly
recognize the facial expressions in 94% of case studies. The results
also show that only a few number of image frames (three frames) are
sufficient to detect facial expressions with rate of success of about
83.3%. This is a significant improvement over the available methods.
Abstract: The promises of component-based technology can only be fully realized when the system contains in its design a necessary level of separation of concerns. The authors propose to focus on the concerns that emerge throughout the life cycle of the system and use them as an architectural foundation for the design of a component-based framework. The proposed model comprises a set of superimposed views of the system describing its functional and non-functional concerns. This approach is illustrated by the design of a specific framework for data analysis and data acquisition and supplemented with experiences from using the systems developed with this framework at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.
Abstract: Nowadays the control of stator voltage at a constant frequency is one of the traditional and low expense methods in order to control the speed of induction motors near its nominal speed. The torque of induction motor is a nonlinear function of the firing angle, phase angle and speed. In this paper the speed control of induction motor regarding various load torque and under different conditions will be investigated based on a fuzzy controller with inverse training.
Abstract: The nature of adsorbed species on catalytic surface
over an industrial precipitated iron-based high temperature catalyst
during FTS was investigated by in-situ DRIFTS and chemical
trapping. The formulation of the mechanism of oxygenates formation
and key intermediates were also discussed. Numerous oxygenated
precursors and crucial intermediates were found by in-situ DRIFTS,
such as surface acetate, acetyl and methoxide. The results showed that
adsorbed molecules on surface such as methanol or acetaldehyde
could react with basic sites such as lattice oxygen or free surface
hydroxyls. Adsorbed molecules also had reactivity of oxidizing.
Moreover, acetyl as a key intermediate for oxygenates was observed
by investigation of CH3OH + CO and CH3I + CO + H2. Based on the
nature of surface properties, the mechanism of oxygenates formation
on precipitated iron-based high temperature catalyst was discussed.
Abstract: In this paper we consider a one-dimensional random
geometric graph process with the inter-nodal gaps evolving according
to an exponential AR(1) process. The transition probability matrix
and stationary distribution are derived for the Markov chains concerning
connectivity and the number of components. We analyze the
algorithm for hitting time regarding disconnectivity. In addition to
dynamical properties, we also study topological properties for static
snapshots. We obtain the degree distributions as well as asymptotic
precise bounds and strong law of large numbers for connectivity
threshold distance and the largest nearest neighbor distance amongst
others. Both exact results and limit theorems are provided in this
paper.
Abstract: The proximate composition, physical traits and
sensory properties of beef and chicken patties incorporated with
various level of dried cornsilk (Maydis stigma) were studied. The
beef and chicken patties were formulated with either 2%, 4% or 6%
of cornsilk. Both cooked beef and chicken patties incorporated with
6% cornsilk recorded the highest protein concentration at 23.3% and
28.42%, respectively. Both cooked beef and chicken patties
containing 6% cornsilk significantly recorded the lowest
concentration of fat at 11.4% and 14.60%, respectively. Beef and
chicken patties formulated with 6% cornsilk recorded the highest
cooking yield at 80.13% and 83.03% compared to other treatments.
The inclusion of cornsilk did not change the sensory properties and
consumer acceptability of cornsilk-based beef and chicken patties.
Cornsilk fibre has been effective in improving cooking yield,
moisture and fat retention of beef and chicken patties
Abstract: Artificial Immune System is adopted as a Heuristic
Algorithm to solve the combinatorial problems for decades.
Nevertheless, many of these applications took advantage of the benefit
for applications but seldom proposed approaches for enhancing the
efficiency. In this paper, we continue the previous research to develop
a Self-evolving Artificial Immune System II via coordinating the T
and B cell in Immune System and built a block-based artificial
chromosome for speeding up the computation time and better
performance for different complexities of problems. Through the
design of Plasma cell and clonal selection which are relative the
function of the Immune Response. The Immune Response will help
the AIS have the global and local searching ability and preventing
trapped in local optima. From the experimental result, the significant
performance validates the SEAIS II is effective when solving the
permutation flows-hop problems.
Abstract: This study has investigated the antidiabetic and
antioxidant potential of Pseudovaria macrophylla bark extract on
streptozotocin–nicotinamide induced type 2 diabetic rats. LCMSQTOF
and NMR experiments were done to determine the chemical
composition in the methanolic bark extract. For in vivo experiments,
the STZ (60 mg/kg/b.w, 15 min after 120 mg/kg/1 nicotinamide, i.p.)
induced diabetic rats were treated with methanolic extract of
Pseuduvaria macrophylla (200 and 400 mg/kg·bw) and
glibenclamide (2.5 mg/kg) as positive control respectively.
Biochemical parameters were assayed in the blood samples of all
groups of rats. The pro-inflammatory cytokines, antioxidant status
and plasma transforming growth factor βeta-1 (TGF-β1) were
evaluated. The histological study of the pancreas was examined and
its expression level of insulin was observed by
immunohistochemistry. In addition, the expression of glucose
transporters (GLUT 1, 2 and 4) were assessed in pancreas tissue by
western blot analysis. The outcomes of the study displayed that the
bark methanol extract of Pseuduvaria macrophylla has potentially
normalized the elevated blood glucose levels and improved serum
insulin and C-peptide levels with significant increase in the
antioxidant enzyme, reduced glutathione (GSH) and decrease in the
level of lipid peroxidation (LPO). Additionally, the extract has
markedly decreased the levels of serum pro-inflammatory cytokines
and transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1). Histopathology
analysis demonstrated that Pseuduvaria macrophylla has the
potential to protect the pancreas of diabetic rats against peroxidation
damage by downregulating oxidative stress and elevated
hyperglycaemia. Furthermore, the expression of insulin protein,
GLUT-1, GLUT-2 and GLUT-4 in pancreatic cells was enhanced.
The findings of this study support the anti-diabetic claims of
Pseudovaria macrophylla bark.
Abstract: Cosmic showers, during the transit through space, produce
sub - products as a result of interactions with the intergalactic
or interstellar medium which after entering earth generate secondary
particles called Extensive Air Shower (EAS). Detection and analysis
of High Energy Particle Showers involve a plethora of theoretical and
experimental works with a host of constraints resulting in inaccuracies
in measurements. Therefore, there exist a necessity to develop a
readily available system based on soft-computational approaches
which can be used for EAS analysis. This is due to the fact that soft
computational tools such as Artificial Neural Network (ANN)s can be
trained as classifiers to adapt and learn the surrounding variations. But
single classifiers fail to reach optimality of decision making in many
situations for which Multiple Classifier System (MCS) are preferred
to enhance the ability of the system to make decisions adjusting
to finer variations. This work describes the formation of an MCS
using Multi Layer Perceptron (MLP), Recurrent Neural Network
(RNN) and Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) with data inputs
from correlation mapping Self Organizing Map (SOM) blocks and
the output optimized by another SOM. The results show that the setup
can be adopted for real time practical applications for prediction
of primary energy and location of EAS from density values captured
using detectors in a circular grid.

ideals of near-rings and anti ideals are discussed in this note. A
necessary and sufficient condition has been established for near-ring
anti ideal to be characteristic.
Abstract: Since communications between tag and reader in RFID
system are by radio, anyone can access the tag and obtain its any
information. And a tag always replies with the same ID so that it is
hard to distinguish between a real and a fake tag. Thus, there are many
security problems in today-s RFID System. Firstly, unauthorized
reader can easily read the ID information of any Tag. Secondly,
Adversary can easily cheat the legitimate reader using the collected
Tag ID information, such as the any legitimate Tag. These security
problems can be typically solved by encryption of messages
transmitted between Tag and Reader and by authentication for Tag.
In this paper, to solve these security problems on RFID system, we
propose the Tag Authentication Scheme based on self shrinking
generator (SSG). SSG Algorithm using in our scheme is proposed by
W.Meier and O.Staffelbach in EUROCRYPT-94. This Algorithm is
organized that only one LFSR and selection logic in order to generate
random stream. Thus it is optimized to implement the hardware logic
on devices with extremely limited resource, and the output generating
from SSG at each time do role as random stream so that it is allow our
to design the light-weight authentication scheme with security against
some network attacks. Therefore, we propose the novel tag
authentication scheme which use SSG to encrypt the Tag-ID
transmitted from tag to reader and achieve authentication of tag.
Abstract: In this paper, we present an approach for soccer video
edition using a multimodal annotation. We propose to associate with
each video sequence of a soccer match a textual document to be used
for further exploitation like search, browsing and abstract edition.
The textual document contains video meta data, match meta data, and
match data. This document, generated automatically while the video
is analyzed, segmented and classified, can be enriched semi
automatically according to the user type and/or a specialized
recommendation system.
