Abstract: Modeling and simulation of biochemical reactions is of great interest in the context of system biology. The central dogma of this re-emerging area states that it is system dynamics and organizing principles of complex biological phenomena that give rise to functioning and function of cells. Cell functions, such as growth, division, differentiation and apoptosis are temporal processes, that can be understood if they are treated as dynamic systems. System biology focuses on an understanding of functional activity from a system-wide perspective and, consequently, it is defined by two hey questions: (i) how do the components within a cell interact, so as to bring about its structure and functioning? (ii) How do cells interact, so as to develop and maintain higher levels of organization and functions? In recent years, wet-lab biologists embraced mathematical modeling and simulation as two essential means toward answering the above questions. The credo of dynamics system theory is that the behavior of a biological system is given by the temporal evolution of its state. Our understanding of the time behavior of a biological system can be measured by the extent to which a simulation mimics the real behavior of that system. Deviations of a simulation indicate either limitations or errors in our knowledge. The aim of this paper is to summarize and review the main conceptual frameworks in which models of biochemical networks can be developed. In particular, we review the stochastic molecular modelling approaches, by reporting the principal conceptualizations suggested by A. A. Markov, P. Langevin, A. Fokker, M. Planck, D. T. Gillespie, N. G. van Kampfen, and recently by D. Wilkinson, O. Wolkenhauer, P. S. Jöberg and by the author.
Abstract: Safety, river environment, and sediment utilization are the elements of the target of sediment management. As a change in an element by sediment management, may affect the other two elements, and the priority among three elements depends on stakeholders. It is necessary to develop a method to evaluate the effect of sediment management on each element and an integrated evaluation method for socio-economic effect. In this study, taking Mount Merapi basin as an investigation field, the method for an active volcanic basin was developed. An integrated evaluation method for sediment management was discussed from a socio-economic point on safety, environment, and sediment utilization and a case study of sediment management was evaluated by means of this method. To evaluate the effect of sediment management, some parameters on safety, utilization, and environment have been introduced. From a utilization point of view, job opportunity, additional income of local people, and tax income to local government were used to evaluate the effectiveness of sediment management. The risk degree of river infrastructure was used to describe the effect of sediment management on a safety aspect. To evaluate the effects of sediment management on environment, the mean diameter of grain size distribution of riverbed surface was used. On the coordinate system designating these elements, the direction of change in basin condition by sediment management can be predicted, so that the most preferable sediment management can be decided. The results indicate that the cases of sediment management tend to give the negative impacts on sediment utilization. However, these sediment managements will give positive impacts on safety and environment condition. Evaluation result from a social-economic point of view shows that the case study of sediment management reduces job opportunity and additional income for inhabitants as well as tax income for government. Therefore, it is necessary to make another policy for creating job opportunity for inhabitants to support these sediment managements.
Abstract: This paper considers a scheduling problem in flexible
flow shops environment with the aim of minimizing two important
criteria including makespan and cumulative tardiness of jobs. Since
the proposed problem is known as an Np-hard problem in literature,
we have to develop a meta-heuristic to solve it. We considered
general structure of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and developed a new
version of that based on Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Two
objective functions assumed as two different inputs for each Decision
Making Unit (DMU). In this paper we focused on efficiency score of
DMUs and efficient frontier concept in DEA technique. After
introducing the method we defined two different scenarios with
considering two types of mutation operator. Also we provided an
experimental design with some computational results to show the
performance of algorithm. The results show that the algorithm
implements in a reasonable time.
Abstract: The objective of this research was to study the career
success and the satisfaction of female executives working for schools
in Bangkok, Thailand. This paper drew upon the survey data
collected from 68 female executives. The survey conducted in on
Bangkok schools. The statistics utilized in this paper included
percentage, mean, standard deviation as well as t-test. The findings
revealed that the majority of samples had more than 30 years of
experience, held a master degree, and had an average income of less
than 40,000 baht. The majority of respondents worked not more than
50 hours per week. In addition, the mean score revealed career
development was ranked as their number one career satisfaction and
having a job related to education was ranked as their number one job
satisfaction. Also, the mean score of all categories of satisfaction was
4.61 with standard deviation of 1.677 which indicated that female
executive level of satisfaction was high. In terms of the subjectivity
career success, the hypothesis testing’s result disclosed that female
executives with different married status had a difference in their job
satisfaction which was significant at the 0.05 confidence level.
Abstract: Metal matrix composites have been increasingly used
as materials for components in automotive and aerospace industries
because of their improved properties compared with non-reinforced
alloys. During machining the selection of appropriate machining
parameters to produce job for desired surface roughness is of great
concern considering the economy of manufacturing process. In this
study, a surface roughness prediction model using fuzzy logic is
developed for end milling of Al-SiCp metal matrix composite
component using carbide end mill cutter. The surface roughness is
modeled as a function of spindle speed (N), feed rate (f), depth of cut
(d) and the SiCp percentage (S). The predicted values surface
roughness is compared with experimental result. The model predicts
average percentage error as 4.56% and mean square error as 0.0729.
It is observed that surface roughness is most influenced by feed rate,
spindle speed and SiC percentage. Depth of cut has least influence.
Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study the
influence of learning efficiency on local accountants’ job
performance effectiveness. This paper drew upon the survey data
collected from 335 local accountants survey conducted at Nakhon
Ratchasima province, Thailand. The statistics utilized in this paper
included percentage, mean, standard deviation, and regression
analysis. The findings revealed that the majority of samples were
between 31-40 years old, married, held an undergraduate degree, and
had an average income between 10,000-15,000 baht. The majority of
respondents had less than five years of accounting experience and
worked for local administrations. The overall learning efficiency
score was in the highest level while the local accountants’ job
performance effectiveness score was also in the high level. The
hypothesis testing’s result disclosed that learning efficiency factors
which were knowledge, Skill, and Attitude had an influence on local
accountants’ job the performance effectiveness.
Abstract: Data mining, which is the exploration of
knowledge from the large set of data, generated as a result of
the various data processing activities. Frequent Pattern Mining
is a very important task in data mining. The previous
approaches applied to generate frequent set generally adopt
candidate generation and pruning techniques for the
satisfaction of the desired objective. This paper shows how
the different approaches achieve the objective of frequent
mining along with the complexities required to perform the
job. This paper will also look for hardware approach of cache
coherence to improve efficiency of the above process. The
process of data mining is helpful in generation of support
systems that can help in Management, Bioinformatics,
Biotechnology, Medical Science, Statistics, Mathematics,
Banking, Networking and other Computer related
applications. This paper proposes the use of both upward and
downward closure property for the extraction of frequent item
sets which reduces the total number of scans required for the
generation of Candidate Sets.
Abstract: At the end of the 20th century it was actual the
development of transport corridors and the improvement of their
technical parameters. With this purpose, many countries and Georgia
among them manufacture to construct new highways, railways and
also reconstruction-modernization of the existing transport
infrastructure. It is necessary to explore the artificial structures
(bridges and tunnels) on the existing tracks as they are very old.
Conference report includes the peculiarities of reconstruction of
tunnels, because we think that this theme is important for the
modernization of the existing road infrastructure. We must remark
that the methods of determining mining pressure of tunnel
reconstructions are worked out according to the jobs of new tunnels
but it is necessary to foresee additional mining pressure which will be
formed during their reconstruction. In this report there are given the
methods of figuring the additional mining pressure while
reconstruction of tunnels, there was worked out the computer
program, it is determined that during reconstruction of tunnels the
additional mining pressure is 1/3rd of main mining pressure.
Abstract: Leave of absence is important in maintaining a good
status of human resource quality. Allowing the employees temporarily
free from the routine assignments can vitalize the workers- morality
and productivity. This is particularly critical to secure a satisfactory
service quality for healthcare professionals of which were typically
featured with labor intensive and complicated works to perform. As
one of the veteran hospitals that were found and operated by the
Veteran Department of Taiwan, the nursing staff of the case hospital
was squeezed to an extreme minimum level under the pressure of a
tight budgeting. Leave of absence on schedule became extremely
difficult, especially for the intensive care units (ICU), in which
required close monitoring over the cared patients, and that had more
easily driven the ICU nurses nervous. Even worse, the deferred leaves
were more than 10 days at any time in the ICU because of a fluctuating
occupancy. As a result, these had brought a bad setback to this
particular nursing team, and consequently defeated the job
performance and service quality. To solve this problem and
accordingly to strengthen their morality, a project team was organized
across different departments specific for this. Sufficient information
regarding jobs and positions requirements, labor resources, and actual
working hours in detail were collected and analyzed in the team
meetings. Several alternatives were finalized. These included job
rotating, job combination, leave on impromptu and cross-departmental
redeployment. Consequently, the deferred leave days sharply reduced
70% to a level of 3 or less days. This improvement had not only
provided good shelter for the ICU nurses that improved their job
performance and patient safety but also encouraged the nurses active
participating of a project and learned the skills of solving problems
with colleagues.
Abstract: Complex assemblies of interacting proteins carry out
most of the interesting jobs in a cell, such as metabolism, DNA
synthesis, mitosis and cell division. These physiological properties
play out as a subtle molecular dance, choreographed by underlying
regulatory networks that control the activities of cyclin-dependent
kinases (CDK). The network can be modeled by a set of nonlinear
differential equations and its behavior predicted by numerical
simulation. In this paper, an innovative approach has been proposed
that uses genetic algorithms to mine a set of behavior data output by
a biological system in order to determine the kinetic parameters of
the system. In our approach, the machine learning method is
integrated with the framework of existent biological information in a
wiring diagram so that its findings are expressed in a form of system
dynamic behavior. By numerical simulations it has been illustrated
that the model is consistent with experiments and successfully shown
that such application of genetic algorithms will highly improve the
performance of mathematical model of the cell division cycle to
simulate such a complicated bio-system.
Abstract: The purpose of this research was to study five vital
factors related to employees’ job performance. A total of 250
respondents were sampled from employees who worked at a public
warehouse organization, Bangkok, Thailand. Samples were divided
into two groups according to their work experience. The average
working experience was about 9 years for group one and 28 years for
group two. A questionnaire was utilized as a tool to collect data.
Statistics utilized in this research included frequency, percentage,
mean, standard deviation, t-test analysis, one way ANOVA, and
Pearson Product-moment correlation coefficient. Data were analyzed
by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. The findings
disclosed that the majority of respondents were female between 23-
31 years old, single, and hold an undergraduate degree. The average
income of respondents was less than 30,900 baht. The findings also
revealed that the factors of organization chart awareness, job process
and technology, internal environment, employee loyalty, and policy
and management were ranked as medium level. The hypotheses
testing revealed that difference in gender, age, and position had
differences in terms of the awareness of organization chart, job
process and technology, internal environment, employee loyalty, and
policy and management in the same direction with low level.
Abstract: Human Resource (HR) applications can be used to
provide fair and consistent decisions, and to improve the
effectiveness of decision making processes. Besides that, among
the challenge for HR professionals is to manage organization
talents, especially to ensure the right person for the right job at the
right time. For that reason, in this article, we attempt to describe
the potential to implement one of the talent management tasks i.e.
identifying existing talent by predicting their performance as one of
HR application for talent management. This study suggests the
potential HR system architecture for talent forecasting by using
past experience knowledge known as Knowledge Discovery in
Database (KDD) or Data Mining. This article consists of three
main parts; the first part deals with the overview of HR
applications, the prediction techniques and application, the general
view of Data mining and the basic concept of talent management
in HRM. The second part is to understand the use of Data Mining
technique in order to solve one of the talent management tasks, and
the third part is to propose the potential HR system architecture for
talent forecasting.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to study motivation
factors affecting job performance effectiveness. This paper drew
upon data collected from an Internal Audit Staffs of Internal Audit
Line of Head Office of Krung Thai Public Company Limited.
Statistics used included frequency, percentage, mean and standard
deviation, t-test, and one-way ANOVA test. The finding revealed that
the majority of the respondents were female of 46 years of age and
over, married and live together, hold a bachelor degree, with an
average monthly income over 70,001 Baht. The majority of
respondents had over 15 years of work experience. They generally
had high working motivation as well as high job performance
effectiveness.
The hypotheses testing disclosed that employees with different
working status had different level of job performance effectiveness at
a 0.01 level of significance. Working motivation factors had an effect
on job performance in the same direction with high level. Individual
working motivation included working completion, reorganization,
working progression, working characteristic, opportunity,
responsibility, management policy, supervision, relationship with
their superior, relationship with co-worker, working position,
working stability, safety, privacy, working conditions, and payment.
All of these factors related to job performance effectiveness in the
same direction with medium level.
Abstract: To provide a better understanding of fair share policies supported by current production schedulers and their impact on scheduling performance, A relative fair share policy supported in four well-known production job schedulers is evaluated in this study. The experimental results show that fair share indeed reduces heavy-demand users from dominating the system resources. However, the detailed per-user performance analysis show that some types of users may suffer unfairness under fair share, possibly due to priority mechanisms used by the current production schedulers. These users typically are not heavy-demands users but they have mixture of jobs that do not spread out.
Abstract: In this paper, multi-processors job shop scheduling problems are solved by a heuristic algorithm based on the hybrid of priority dispatching rules according to an ant colony optimization algorithm. The objective function is to minimize the makespan, i.e. total completion time, in which a simultanous presence of various kinds of ferons is allowed. By using the suitable hybrid of priority dispatching rules, the process of finding the best solution will be improved. Ant colony optimization algorithm, not only promote the ability of this proposed algorithm, but also decreases the total working time because of decreasing in setup times and modifying the working production line. Thus, the similar work has the same production lines. Other advantage of this algorithm is that the similar machines (not the same) can be considered. So, these machines are able to process a job with different processing and setup times. According to this capability and from this algorithm evaluation point of view, a number of test problems are solved and the associated results are analyzed. The results show a significant decrease in throughput time. It also shows that, this algorithm is able to recognize the bottleneck machine and to schedule jobs in an efficient way.
Abstract: Grid computing provides a virtual framework for
controlled sharing of resources across institutional boundaries.
Recently, trust has been recognised as an important factor for
selection of optimal resources in a grid. We introduce a new method
that provides a quantitative trust value, based on the past interactions
and present environment characteristics. This quantitative trust value
is used to select a suitable resource for a job and eliminates run time
failures arising from incompatible user-resource pairs. The proposed
work will act as a tool to calculate the trust values of the various
components of the grid and there by improves the success rate of the
jobs submitted to the resource on the grid. The access to a resource
not only depend on the identity and behaviour of the resource but
also upon its context of transaction, time of transaction, connectivity
bandwidth, availability of the resource and load on the resource. The
quality of the recommender is also evaluated based on the accuracy
of the feedback provided about a resource. The jobs are submitted for
execution to the selected resource after finding the overall trust value
of the resource. The overall trust value is computed with respect to
the subjective and objective parameters.
Abstract: In this paper an ant colony optimization algorithm is
developed to solve the permutation flow shop scheduling problem. In
the permutation flow shop scheduling problem which has been vastly
studied in the literature, there are a set of m machines and a set of n
jobs. All the jobs are processed on all the machines and the sequence
of jobs being processed is the same on all the machines. Here this
problem is optimized considering two criteria, makespan and total
flow time. Then the results are compared with the ones obtained by
previously developed algorithms. Finally it is visible that our
proposed approach performs best among all other algorithms in the
literature.
Abstract: Magetan area is going to be the object of this research
which is located in East Java, Indonesia. The data were obtained
from 270 civil servants working at the Magetan District government.
The data were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling with
Partial Least Square program. The research showed the following
findings: (1) job motivation variable has a positive and significant
effect on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB); (2) work
environment has positive and significant effect on OCB; (3)
leadership variable has positive and significant effect on OCB; (4)
job motivation variable has no significant effect on job satisfaction;
(5) work environment variable has no significant effect on job
satisfaction; (6) leadership variable has no significant effect on job
satisfaction; (7) OCB is positively and significantly associated with
job satisfaction; (8) job satisfaction variable is positively and
significantly correlated with quality of public service at the Magetan
District government.
Abstract: The increase on the demand of IT resources diverts
the enterprises to use the cloud as a cheap and scalable solution.
Cloud computing promises achieved by using the virtual machine as a
basic unite of computation. However, the virtual machine pre-defined
settings might be not enough to handle jobs QoS requirements. This
paper addresses the problem of mapping jobs have critical start
deadlines to virtual machines that have predefined specifications.
These virtual machines hosted by physical machines and shared a
fixed amount of bandwidth. This paper proposed an algorithm that
uses the idle virtual machines bandwidth to increase the quote of other
virtual machines nominated as executors to urgent jobs. An algorithm
with empirical study have been given to evaluate the impact of the
proposed model on impatient jobs. The results show the importance
of dynamic bandwidth allocation in virtualized environment and its
affect on throughput metric.
Abstract: Internet access is a vital part of the modern world and an important tool in the education of our children. It is present in schools, homes and even shopping malls. Mastering the use of the internet is likely to be an important skill for those entering the job markets of the future. An internet user can be anyone he or she wants to be in an online chat room, or play thrilling and challenging games against other players from all corners of the globe. It seems at present time (or near future) for many people relationships in the real world may be neglected as those in the virtual world increase in importance. Internet is provided a fast mode of transportation caused freedom from family bonds and mixing with different cultures and new communities. This research is an attempt to study effect of Internet on Social capital. For this purpose a survey technique on the sample size amounted 168 students of Payame Noor University of Kermanshah city in country of Iran were considered. Degree of social capital is moderate. With the help of the Multi-variable Regression, variables of Iranian message attractive, Interest to internet with effect of positive and variable Creating a cordial atmosphere with negative effect be significant.
