Abstract: This study aims to demonstrate the quantification of
peptides based on isotope dilution surface enhanced Raman
scattering (IDSERS). SERS spectra of phenylalanine (Phe), leucine
(Leu) and two peptide sequences TGQIFK (T13) and
YSFLQNPQTSLCFSESIPTPSNR (T6) as part of the 22-kDa
human growth hormone (hGH) were obtained on Ag-nanoparticle
covered substrates. On the basis of the dominant Phe and Leu
vibrational modes, precise partial least squares (PLS) prediction
models were built enabling the determination of unknown T13 and
T6 concentrations. Detection of hGH in its physiological
concentration in order to investigate the possibility of protein
quantification has been achieved.
Abstract: In this paper, position vector of a partially null unit speed curve with respect to standard frame of Minkowski space-time is studied. First, it is proven that position vector of every partially null unit speed curve satisfies a vector differential equation of fourth order. In terms of solution of the differential equation, position vector of a partially null unit speed curve is expressed.
Abstract: The continued growth of the cities is causing an
increase of the amount of surface to illuminate. However, this rise
into lighting brings some unintended consequences such as increased
of energy consumption or the light pollution. To make these effects
less intrusive as possible some councils have chosen to perform a
part-night lighting in some areas. Nonetheless, this kind of shutdown
may cause serious problems which we intend to highlight in this
paper.
Abstract: In molecular biology, microarray technology is widely and successfully utilized to efficiently measure gene activity. If working with less studied organisms, methods to design custom-made microarray probes are available. One design criterion is to select probes with minimal melting temperature variances thus ensuring similar hybridization properties. If the microarray application focuses on the investigation of metabolic pathways, it is not necessary to cover the whole genome. It is more efficient to cover each metabolic pathway with a limited number of genes. Firstly, an approach is presented which minimizes the overall melting temperature variance of selected probes for all genes of interest. Secondly, the approach is extended to include the additional constraints of covering all pathways with a limited number of genes while minimizing the overall variance. The new optimization problem is solved by a bottom-up programming approach which reduces the complexity to make it computationally feasible. The new method is exemplary applied for the selection of microarray probes in order to cover all fungal secondary metabolite gene clusters for Aspergillus terreus.
Abstract: Ligula intestinalis is a three-host life-cycle
Pseudophyllidean Cestode which in its plerocercoid stage infests a
range of fresh water species. The objective of the present study was
the worm occurrence within planctonic copepods, fishes and
piscivorous birds and examine of parasite-hosts samples in the Lake
of Sattarkhan Dam (near the city of Ahar, East Azerbaijan, Iran).
Fish sample were collected with fyke and gill nets and the abdominal
cavity was examined for the presence of ligula. Zooplanktons were
captured using a planktonic net and occurrence of parasitic larval
form in the body cavity was determined. Piscivorous birds were
selected by telescope, they hunted and dissected for presence of
parasite eggs in their gut. Results indicated that prevalence of
infection was 16% for cyclopid copepoda and majority of infected
cyclopid were female Cyclops. Investigation of 310 fishes specimens
were indicated to infection of five species of cyprinid fishes. In
addition, results indicated to manipulation of six species of migratory
aquatic and semi aquatic birds by ligula. Obtained results are in
agreement by previous studies. Its definite in this study that all of
fishes in Sattarkhan Lake capable to infection, its important for
health because they capture by native people and it is documented
that ligula can be introduce as a zoonose. It's seemed that to prevent
from disperses of parasite and restricted of infection, biological
elimination can be effective and it's necessary to inform native
people about sanitation.
Abstract: Due to the recovering global economy, enterprises are
increasingly focusing on logistics. Investing in logistic measures for
a production generates a large potential for achieving a good starting
point within a competitive field. Unlike during the global economic
crisis, enterprises are now challenged with investing available capital
to maximize profits. In order to be able to create an informed and
quantifiably comprehensible basis for a decision, enterprises need an
adequate model for logistically and monetarily evaluating measures
in production. The Collaborate Research Centre 489 (SFB 489) at the
Institute for Production Systems (IFA) developed a Logistic
Information System which provides support in making decisions and
is designed specifically for the forging industry. The aim of a project
that has been applied for is to now transfer this process in order to
develop a universal approach to logistically and monetarily evaluate
measures in production.
Abstract: Recently global concerns for the energy security have
steadily been on the increase and are expected to become a major
issue over the next few decades. Energy security refers to a resilient
energy system. This resilient system would be capable of
withstanding threats through a combination of active, direct security
measures and passive or more indirect measures such as redundancy,
duplication of critical equipment, diversity in fuel, other sources of
energy, and reliance on less vulnerable infrastructure. Threats and
disruptions (disturbances) to one part of the energy system affect
another. The paper presents methodology in theoretical background
about energy system as an interconnected network and energy supply
disturbances impact to the network. The proposed methodology uses
a network flow approach to develop mathematical model of the
energy system network as the system of nodes and arcs with energy
flowing from node to node along paths in the network.
Abstract: Water has always been a very precious resource.
However, many of us do not fully understand or appreciate water-s
value until there will be a shortage. We intended to analyze the water
consumption into the Spanish households to understand their
behavior according to the habitants of the house. In this research was
carried out a survey of users, asking for water consumption of their
households. The aim of this paper is get a reference value of
consumers in Spanish households to help to check their bill and
realize if their consumption is excessive, including some tips to
decrease it.
Abstract: In the first part of this paper [6], a method to
determine Frenet apparatus of the space-like curves in Minkowski
space-time is presented. In this work, the mentioned method is
developed for the time-like curves in Minkowski space-time.
Additionally, an example of presented method is illustrated.
Abstract: Market based models are frequently used in the resource
allocation on the computational grid. However, as the size of
the grid grows, it becomes difficult for the customer to negotiate
directly with all the providers. Middle agents are introduced to
mediate between the providers and customers and facilitate the
resource allocation process. The most frequently deployed middle
agents are the matchmakers and the brokers. The matchmaking agent
finds possible candidate providers who can satisfy the requirements
of the consumers, after which the customer directly negotiates with
the candidates. The broker agents are mediating the negotiation with
the providers in real time.
In this paper we present a new type of middle agent, the marketmaker.
Its operation is based on two parallel operations - through
the investment process the marketmaker is acquiring resources and
resource reservations in large quantities, while through the resale process
it sells them to the customers. The operation of the marketmaker
is based on the fact that through its global view of the grid it can
perform a more efficient resource allocation than the one possible in
one-to-one negotiations between the customers and providers.
We present the operation and algorithms governing the operation
of the marketmaker agent, contrasting it with the matchmaker and
broker agents. Through a series of simulations in the task oriented
domain we compare the operation of the three agents types. We find
that the use of marketmaker agent leads to a better performance in the
allocation of large tasks and a significant reduction of the messaging
overhead.
Abstract: The curves, of which the square of the distance
between the two points equal to zero, are called minimal or isotropic
curves [4]. In this work, first, necessary and sufficient conditions to
be a Pseudo Helix, which is a special case of such curves, are
presented. Thereafter, it is proven that an isotropic curve-s position
vector and pseudo curvature satisfy a vector differential equation of
fourth order. Additionally, In view of solution of mentioned
equation, position vector of pseudo helices is obtained.
Abstract: Despite the relatively large number of studies that
have examined the use of appeals in advertisements, research on the
use of appeals in green advertisements is still underdeveloped and
needs to be investigated further, as it is definitely a tool for marketers
to create illustrious ads. In this study, content analysis was employed
to examine the nature of green advertising appeals and to match the
appeals with the green advertisements. Two different types of green
print advertisings, product orientation and organizational image
orientation were used. Thirty highly educated participants with
different backgrounds were asked individually to ascertain three
appeals out of thirty-four given appeals found among forty real green
advertisements. To analyze participant responses and to group them
based on common appeals, two-step K-mean clustering is used. The
clustering solution indicates that eye-catching graphics and
imaginative appeals are highly notable in both types of green ads.
Depressed, meaningful and sad appeals are found to be highly used in
organizational image orientation ads, whereas, corporate image,
informative and natural appeals are found to be essential for product
orientation ads.
Abstract: In this paper, first, a characterization of spherical
Pseudo null curves in Semi-Euclidean space is given. Then, to
investigate position vector of a pseudo null curve, a system of
differential equation whose solution gives the components of the
position vector of a pseudo null curve on the Frenet axis is
established by means of Frenet equations. Additionally, in view of
some special solutions of mentioned system, characterizations of
some special pseudo null curves are presented.
