Abstract: A multivariable discontinuous feedback linearization approach is proposed to position control of an electrically driven fast robot manipulator. A desired performance is achieved by selecting a useful controller and suitable sampling rate and considering saturation for actuators. There is a high flexibility to apply the proposed control approach on different electrically driven manipulators. The control approach can guarantee the stability and satisfactory tracking performance. A PUMA 560 robot driven by geared permanent magnet dc motors is simulated. The simulation results show a desired performance for control system under technical specifications.
Abstract: Deoxygenation of beef fat for the production of hydrogenated biodiesel is investigated in a high pressure continuous flow fixed bed reactor over palladium-supported mesoporous titania catalyst synthesized via a combined single-step sol-gel process with surfactant-assisted templating method (SATM). The catalyst possessed a mesoporous charactheristic with high surface area and narrow pore size distribution. The main products of all Pd/TiO2 catalysts are n-heptadecane (n-C17) and n-pentadecane (n-C15) resulting from decarbonylation reaction. Pd/TiO2 catalyst synthesized via a combined single-step sol-gel process with SATM (SSSG) gave higher activity and selectivity to the desired products when compared to IWI/SG-TiO2 and IWI/P25-TiO2, respectively. SSSG catalyst gave the average conversion up to 80-90 % and 80 % for the selectivity in diesel range hydrocarbons. This result may cause by the higher surface area and the ability in dispersion of palladium ion in mesoporous of TiO2 during sol-gel process.
Abstract: lack of convenience condition is one of the problems
in open spaces in hot and dry regions. Nowadays parks and green
landscapes was designed and constructed without any attention to
convenience condition. If this process continues, Citizens will encounter
with some problems. Harsh climatic condition decreases the
efficiency of people-s activities. However there is hard environment
condition in hot and dry regions, Convenience condition has been
provided in Iranian traditional architecture by using techniques and
methods. In this research at the first step characteristics of Iranian
garden that can effect on creating sustainable spaces were
investigated through observation method. Pleasure space in cities will
be created with using these methods and techniques in future cities.
Furthermore the comparison between Iranian garden and landscape in
today-s cities demonstrate the effectiveness of Iranian garden
characteristics on sustainable spaces. Iranian architects used simple
and available methods for creating open architectural spaces. In
addition desirable conditions were provided with taking in to account
both physically and spiritually. Parks and landscapes in future cities
can be designed and constructed with respect to architectural
techniques that used in Iranian gardens in hot and arid regions.
Abstract: A large quantity of world-s oil reserves exists in
carbonate reservoirs. Carbonate reservoirs are very sensitive to
chemical enhanced oil recovery process because of containing large
amount of calcite, dolomite and calcium sulfate minerals. These
minerals cause major obstacles during alkali-surfactant-polymer
(ASP) flooding. Alkali reacts with these minerals and form undesired
precipitations which plug effective porous openings, reduce
permeability and cause scale occurrence at the wellbore. In this
paper, a new chemical combination consists of acrylic acid and alkali
was used to minimize precipitation problem during ASP flooding. A
series of fluid-fluid compatibility tests were performed using acrylic
acid and different concentrations of alkaline. Two types of alkalis
namely; sodium carbonate and sodium metaborate were screened. As
a result, the combination of acrylic acid and sodium carbonate was
not effective in preventing calcium and magnesium precipitations.
However, acrylic acid and sodium metaborate showed promising
results for keeping all solutions without any precipitations. The ratio
of acrylic acid to sodium metaborate of 0.7:1.0 was found to be
optimum for achieving a compatible solution for 30 days at 80oC.
Abstract: This paper presents a hybrid fuzzy-PD plus PID
(HFPP) controller and its application to steam distillation process for
essential oil extraction system. Steam temperature is one of the most
significant parameters that can influence the composition of essential
oil yield. Due to parameter variations and changes in operation
conditions during distillation, a robust steam temperature controller becomes nontrivial to avoid the degradation of essential oil quality.
Initially, the PRBS input is triggered to the system and output of steam temperature is modeled using ARX model structure. The
parameter estimation and tuning method is adopted by simulation
using HFPP controller scheme. The effectiveness and robustness of
proposed controller technique is validated by real time
implementation to the system. The performance of HFPP using 25 and 49 fuzzy rules is compared. The experimental result demonstrates the proposed HFPP using 49 fuzzy rules achieves a
better, consistent and robust controller compared to PID when considering the test on tracking the set point and the effects due to disturbance.
Abstract: Role of acoustic driving pressure on the
translational-radial dynamics of a moving single bubble
sonoluminescence (m-SBSL) has been numerically
investigated. The results indicate that increase in the
amplitude of the driving pressure leads to increase in the
bubble peak temperature. The length and the shape of the
trajectory of the bubble depends on the acoustic pressure and
because of the spatially dependence of the radial dynamics of
the moving bubble, its peak temperature varies during the
acoustical pulses. The results are in good agreement with the
experimental reports on m-SBSL.
Abstract: Polyurethane foam (PUF) were prepared by
reacting polyols synthesized from soy-oil into mixture of 2,4-
Toluene diisocyanate (TDI) with 4,4--Methylene Diamine
Isocyanate (MDI) with ratio of 70:30. The polyols obtained
via esterification reaction were categorize into different
temperature of reaction and by used of varied concentration
of phosphoric acid catalyst. The purpose of catalysts is to
shifting selectivity to a desired and value added of product.
The effect of stoichiometric balance (molar ratio of
epoxide/ethylene glycol) to the concentration of the catalyst
on the final properties was evaluated.
Abstract: The data exchanged on the Web are of different nature
from those treated by the classical database management systems;
these data are called semi-structured data since they do not have a
regular and static structure like data found in a relational database;
their schema is dynamic and may contain missing data or types.
Therefore, the needs for developing further techniques and
algorithms to exploit and integrate such data, and extract relevant
information for the user have been raised. In this paper we present
the system OSIX (Osiris based System for Integration of XML
Sources). This system has a Data Warehouse model designed for the
integration of semi-structured data and more precisely for the
integration of XML documents. The architecture of OSIX relies on
the Osiris system, a DL-based model designed for the representation
and management of databases and knowledge bases. Osiris is a viewbased
data model whose indexing system supports semantic query
optimization. We show that the problem of query processing on a
XML source is optimized by the indexing approach proposed by
Osiris.
Abstract: Heart failure is the most common reason of death
nowadays, but if the medical help is given directly, the patient-s life
may be saved in many cases. Numerous heart diseases can be
detected by means of analyzing electrocardiograms (ECG). Artificial
Neural Networks (ANN) are computer-based expert systems that
have proved to be useful in pattern recognition tasks. ANN can be
used in different phases of the decision-making process, from
classification to diagnostic procedures. This work concentrates on a
review followed by a novel method.
The purpose of the review is to assess the evidence of healthcare
benefits involving the application of artificial neural networks to the
clinical functions of diagnosis, prognosis and survival analysis, in
ECG signals. The developed method is based on a compound neural
network (CNN), to classify ECGs as normal or carrying an
AtrioVentricular heart Block (AVB). This method uses three
different feed forward multilayer neural networks. A single output
unit encodes the probability of AVB occurrences. A value between 0
and 0.1 is the desired output for a normal ECG; a value between 0.1
and 1 would infer an occurrence of an AVB. The results show that
this compound network has a good performance in detecting AVBs,
with a sensitivity of 90.7% and a specificity of 86.05%. The accuracy
value is 87.9%.
Abstract: This paper presents comparative study on recent
integer DCTs and a new method to construct a low sensitive structure
of integer DCT for colored input signals. The method refers to
sensitivity of multiplier coefficients to finite word length as an
indicator of how word length truncation effects on quality of output
signal. The sensitivity is also theoretically evaluated as a function of
auto-correlation and covariance matrix of input signal. The structure of
integer DCT algorithm is optimized by combination of lower sensitive
lifting structure types of IRT. It is evaluated by the sensitivity of
multiplier coefficients to finite word length expression in a function of
covariance matrix of input signal. Effectiveness of the optimum
combination of IRT in integer DCT algorithm is confirmed by quality
improvement comparing with existing case. As a result, the optimum
combination of IRT in each integer DCT algorithm evidently improves
output signal quality and it is still compatible with the existing one.
Abstract: The Comparison analysis of the Wald-s and Bayestype sequential methods for testing hypotheses is offered. The merits of the new sequential test are: universality which consists in optimality (with given criteria) and uniformity of decision-making regions for any number of hypotheses; simplicity, convenience and uniformity of the algorithms of their realization; reliability of the obtained results and an opportunity of providing the errors probabilities of desirable values. There are given the Computation results of concrete examples which confirm the above-stated characteristics of the new method and characterize the considered methods in regard to each other.
Abstract: The e-government emerging concept transforms the
way in which the citizens are dealing with their governments. Thus,
the citizens can execute the intended services online anytime and
anywhere. This results in great benefits for both the governments
(reduces the number of officers) and the citizens (more flexibility and
time saving). Therefore, building a maturity model to assess the egovernment
portals becomes desired to help in the improvement
process of such portals. This paper aims at proposing an egovernment
maturity model based on the measurement of the best
practices’ presence. The main benefit of such maturity model is to
provide a way to rank an e-government portal based on the used best
practices, and also giving a set of recommendations to go to the
higher stage in the maturity model.
Abstract: A cross sectional survey design was used to collect
data from 370 diabetic patients. Two instruments were used in

Abstract: This paper applies Bayesian Networks to support
information extraction from unstructured, ungrammatical, and
incoherent data sources for semantic annotation. A tool has been
developed that combines ontologies, machine learning, and
information extraction and probabilistic reasoning techniques to
support the extraction process. Data acquisition is performed with the
aid of knowledge specified in the form of ontology. Due to the
variable size of information available on different data sources, it is
often the case that the extracted data contains missing values for
certain variables of interest. It is desirable in such situations to
predict the missing values. The methodology, presented in this paper,
first learns a Bayesian network from the training data and then uses it
to predict missing data and to resolve conflicts. Experiments have
been conducted to analyze the performance of the presented
methodology. The results look promising as the methodology
achieves high degree of precision and recall for information
extraction and reasonably good accuracy for predicting missing
values.
Abstract: The POD-assisted projective integration method based on the equation-free framework is presented in this paper. The method is essentially based on the slow manifold governing of given system. We have applied two variants which are the “on-line" and “off-line" methods for solving the one-dimensional viscous Bergers- equation. For the on-line method, we have computed the slow manifold by extracting the POD modes and used them on-the-fly along the projective integration process without assuming knowledge of the underlying slow manifold. In contrast, the underlying slow manifold must be computed prior to the projective integration process for the off-line method. The projective step is performed by the forward Euler method. Numerical experiments show that for the case of nonperiodic system, the on-line method is more efficient than the off-line method. Besides, the online approach is more realistic when apply the POD-assisted projective integration method to solve any systems. The critical value of the projective time step which directly limits the efficiency of both methods is also shown.
Abstract: In this research, an aerobic composting method is
studied to reuse organic waste from rubber factory waste as soil fertilizer and to study the effect of cellulolytic microbial activator
(CMA) as the activator in the rubber factory waste composting. The
performance of the composting process was monitored as a function
of carbon and organic matter decomposition rate, temperature and
moisture content. The results indicate that the rubber factory waste is best composted with water hyacinth and sludge than composted
alone. In addition, the CMA is more affective when mixed with the rubber factory waste, water hyacinth and sludge since a good fertilizer is achieved. When adding CMA into the rubber factory
waste composted alone, the finished product does not achieve a
standard of fertilizer, especially the C/N ratio.
Finally, the finished products of composting rubber factory waste and water hyacinth and sludge (both CMA and without CMA), can be an environmental friendly alternative to solve the disposal problems of rubber factory waste. Since the C/N ratio, pH, moisture
content, temperature, and nutrients of the finished products are acceptable for agriculture use.
Abstract: Fuzzy logic control (FLC) systems have been tested in
many technical and industrial applications as a useful modeling tool
that can handle the uncertainties and nonlinearities of modern control
systems. The main drawback of the FLC methodologies in the
industrial environment is challenging for selecting the number of
optimum tuning parameters.
In this paper, a method has been proposed for finding the optimum
membership functions of a fuzzy system using particle swarm
optimization (PSO) algorithm. A synthetic algorithm combined from
fuzzy logic control and PSO algorithm is used to design a controller
for a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR) with the aim of
achieving the accurate and acceptable desired results. To exhibit the
effectiveness of proposed algorithm, it is used to optimize the
Gaussian membership functions of the fuzzy model of a nonlinear
CSTR system as a case study. It is clearly proved that the optimized
membership functions (MFs) provided better performance than a
fuzzy model for the same system, when the MFs were heuristically
defined.
