Abstract: Direct search methods are evolutionary algorithms used to solve optimization problems. (DS) methods do not require any information about the gradient of the objective function at hand while searching for an optimum solution. One of such methods is Pattern Search (PS) algorithm. This paper presents a new approach based on a constrained pattern search algorithm to solve a security constrained power system economic dispatch problem (SCED). Operation of power systems demands a high degree of security to keep the system satisfactorily operating when subjected to disturbances, while and at the same time it is required to pay attention to the economic aspects. Pattern recognition technique is used first to assess dynamic security. Linear classifiers that determine the stability of electric power system are presented and added to other system stability and operational constraints. The problem is formulated as a constrained optimization problem in a way that insures a secure-economic system operation. Pattern search method is then applied to solve the constrained optimization formulation. In particular, the method is tested using one system. Simulation results of the proposed approach are compared with those reported in literature. The outcome is very encouraging and proves that pattern search (PS) is very applicable for solving security constrained power system economic dispatch problem (SCED).
Abstract: This paper tries to represent a new method for
computing the reliability of a system which is arranged in series or
parallel model. In this method we estimate life distribution function
of whole structure using the asymptotic Extreme Value (EV)
distribution of Type I, or Gumbel theory. We use EV distribution in
minimal mode, for estimate the life distribution function of series
structure and maximal mode for parallel system. All parameters also
are estimated by Moments method. Reliability function and failure
(hazard) rate and p-th percentile point of each function are
determined. Other important indexes such as Mean Time to Failure
(MTTF), Mean Time to repair (MTTR), for non-repairable and
renewal systems in both of series and parallel structure will be
computed.
Abstract: Network Management Systems have played a great important role in information systems. Management is very important and essential in any fields. There are many managements such as configuration management, fault management, performance management, security management, accounting management and etc. Among them, configuration, fault and security management is more important than others. Because these are essential and useful in any fields. Configuration management is to monitor and maintain the whole system or LAN. Fault management is to detect and troubleshoot the system. Security management is to control the whole system. This paper intends to increase the network management functionalities including configuration management, fault management and security management. In configuration management system, this paper specially can support the USB ports and devices to detect and read devices configuration and solve to detect hardware port and software ports. In security management system, this paper can provide the security feature for the user account setting and user management and proxy server feature. And all of the history of the security such as user account and proxy server history are kept in the java standard serializable file. So the user can view the history of the security and proxy server anytime. If the user uses this system, the user can ping the clients from the network and the user can view the result of the message in fault management system. And this system also provides to check the network card and can show the NIC card setting. This system is used RMI (Remote Method Invocation) and JNI (Java Native Interface) technology. This paper is to implement the client/server network management system using Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE). This system can provide more than 10 clients. And then this paper intends to show data or message structure of client/server and how to work using TCP/IP protocol.
Abstract: This paper presents the development of an electricity simulation model taking into account electrical network constraints, applied on the Belgian power system. The base of the model is optimizing an extensive Unit Commitment (UC) problem through the use of Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP). Electrical constraints are incorporated through the implementation of a DC load flow. The model encloses the Belgian power system in a 220 – 380 kV high voltage network (i.e., 93 power plants and 106 nodes). The model features the use of pumping storage facilities as well as the inclusion of spinning reserves in a single optimization process. Solution times of the model stay below reasonable values.
Abstract: We see in the present day scenario that the Global
positioning system (GPS) has been an effective tool to track the
vehicle. However the adverse part of it is that it can only track a
vehicle-s position. Our present work provides a better platform to
track and disable a vehicle using wireless technology. In our system
we embed a microcomputer which monitors the series of automotive
systems like engine, fuel and braking system. The external USB
modem is connected with the microcomputer to provide 24 x 7
internet accesses. The microcomputer is synchronized with the
owner-s multimedia mobile by means of a software tool “REMOTE
DESKTOP". A unique username and password is provided to the
software tool, so that the owner can only access the microcomputer
through the internet on owner-s mobile. The key fact is that our
design is placed such that it is known only to the owner.
Abstract: In this paper variation of spot price and total profits of
the generating companies- through wholesale electricity trading are
discussed with and without Central Generating Stations (CGS) share
and seasonal variations are also considered. It demonstrates how
proper analysis of generators- efficiencies and capabilities, types of
generators owned, fuel costs, transmission losses and settling price
variation using the solutions of Optimal Power Flow (OPF), can
allow companies to maximize overall revenue. It illustrates how
solutions of OPF can be used to maximize companies- revenue under
different scenarios. And is also extended to computation of Available
Transfer Capability (ATC) is very important to the transmission
system security and market forecasting. From these results it is
observed that how crucial it is for companies to plan their daily
operations and is certainly useful in an online environment of
deregulated power system. In this paper above tasks are demonstrated
on 124 bus real-life Indian utility power system of Andhra Pradesh
State Grid and results have been presented and analyzed.
Abstract: This paper focuses on testing database of existing
information system. At the beginning we describe the basic problems
of implemented databases, such as data redundancy, poor design of
database logical structure or inappropriate data types in columns of
database tables. These problems are often the result of incorrect
understanding of the primary requirements for a database of an
information system. Then we propose an algorithm to compare the
conceptual model created from vague requirements for a database
with a conceptual model reconstructed from implemented database.
An algorithm also suggests steps leading to optimization of
implemented database. The proposed algorithm is verified by an
implemented prototype. The paper also describes a fuzzy system
which works with the vague requirements for a database of an
information system, procedure for creating conceptual from vague
requirements and an algorithm for reconstructing a conceptual model
from implemented database.
Abstract: In the present paper, active control system is used in
different heights of the building and the most effective part was
studied where the active control system is applied. The mathematical
model of the building is established in MATLAB and in order to
active control the system FLC method was used. Three different
locations of the building are chosen to apply active control system,
namely at the lowest story, the middle height of the building, and at
the highest point of the building with TMD system. The equation of
motion was written for high rise building and it was solved by statespace
method. Also passive control was used with Tuned Mass
Damper (TMD) at the top floor of the building to show the robustness
of FLC method when compared with passive control system.
Abstract: The objective of our work is to develop a new approach for discovering knowledge from a large mass of data, the result of applying this approach will be an expert system that will serve as diagnostic tools of a phenomenon related to a huge information system. We first recall the general problem of learning Bayesian network structure from data and suggest a solution for optimizing the complexity by using organizational and optimization methods of data. Afterward we proposed a new heuristic of learning a Multi-Entities Bayesian Networks structures. We have applied our approach to biological facts concerning hereditary complex illnesses where the literatures in biology identify the responsible variables for those diseases. Finally we conclude on the limits arched by this work.

Abstract: In this paper, we present user pattern learning
algorithm based MDSS (Medical Decision support system) under
ubiquitous. Most of researches are focus on hardware system, hospital
management and whole concept of ubiquitous environment even
though it is hard to implement. Our objective of this paper is to design
a MDSS framework. It helps to patient for medical treatment and
prevention of the high risk patient (COPD, heart disease, Diabetes).
This framework consist database, CAD (Computer Aided diagnosis
support system) and CAP (computer aided user vital sign prediction
system). It can be applied to develop user pattern learning algorithm
based MDSS for homecare and silver town service. Especially this
CAD has wise decision making competency. It compares current vital
sign with user-s normal condition pattern data. In addition, the CAP
computes user vital sign prediction using past data of the patient. The
novel approach is using neural network method, wireless vital sign
acquisition devices and personal computer DB system. An intelligent
agent based MDSS will help elder people and high risk patients to
prevent sudden death and disease, the physician to get the online
access to patients- data, the plan of medication service priority (e.g.
emergency case).
Abstract: This paper proposes the application of a hierarchical fuzzy system (HFS) based on multi-input power system stabilizer (MPSS) and also Static Var Compensator (SVC) in multi-machine environment. The number of rules grows exponentially with the number of variables in a conventional fuzzy logic system. The proposed HFS method is developed to solve this problem. To reduce the number of rules the HFS consists of a number of low-dimensional fuzzy systems in a hierarchical structure. In fact, by using HFS the total number of involved rules increases only linearly with the number of input variables. In the MPSS, to have better efficiency an auxiliary signal of reactive power deviation (ΔQ) is added with ΔP+ Δω input type Power system stabilizer (PSS). Phasor model of SVC is described and used in this paper. The performances of MPSS, Conventional power system stabilizer (CPSS), hierarchical Fuzzy Multi-input Power System Stabilizer (HFMPSS) and the proposed method in damping inter-area mode of oscillation are examined in response to disturbances. By using digital simulations the comparative study is illustrated. It can be seen that the proposed PSS is performing satisfactorily within the whole range of disturbances.
Abstract: Single-pole switching scheme is widely used in the
Extra High Voltage system. However, the substantial negativesequence
current injected to the turbine-generators imposes the
electromagnetic (E/M) torque of double system- frequency
components during the dead time (between single-pole clearing and
line reclosing). This would induce supersynchronous resonance
(SPSR) torque amplifications on low pressure turbine generator
blades and even lead to fatigue damage. This paper proposes the
design of a mechanical filter (MF) with natural frequency close to
double-system frequency. From the simulation results, it is found that
such a filter not only successfully damps the resonant effect, but also
has the characteristics of feasibility and compact.
Abstract: In any distributed systems, process scheduling plays a
vital role in determining the efficiency of the system. Process scheduling algorithms are used to ensure that the components of the
system would be able to maximize its utilization and able to complete all the processes assigned in a specified period of time.
This paper focuses on the development of comparative simulator for distributed process scheduling algorithms. The objectives of the works that have been carried out include the development of the
comparative simulator, as well as to implement a comparative study
between three distributed process scheduling algorithms; senderinitiated,
receiver-initiated and hybrid sender-receiver-initiated
algorithms. The comparative study was done based on the Average Waiting Time (AWT) and Average Turnaround Time (ATT) of the
processes involved. The simulation results show that the performance of the algorithms depends on the number of nodes in the system.

Technique is capable to decrease the photovoltaic power generation
forecasting error.
Abstract: In a nuclear reactor Loss of Coolant accident (LOCA)
considers wide range of postulated damage or rupture of pipe in the
heat transport piping system. In the case of LOCA with/without
failure of emergency core cooling system in a Pressurised Heavy
water Reactor, the Pressure Tube (PT) temperature could rise
significantly due to fuel heat up and gross mismatch of the heat
generation and heat removal in the affected channel. The extent and
nature of deformation is important from reactor safety point of view.
Experimental set-ups have been designed and fabricated to simulate
ballooning (radial deformation) of PT for 220 MWe IPHWRs.
Experiments have been conducted by covering the CT by ceramic
fibers and then by submerging CT in water of voided PTs. In both
the experiments, it is observed that ballooning initiates at a
temperature around 665´┐¢C and complete contact between PT and
Caldaria Tube (CT) occurs at around 700´┐¢C approximately. The
strain rate is found to be 0.116% per second. The structural integrity
of PT is retained (no breach) for all the experiments. The PT heatup
is found to be arrested after the contact between PT and CT, thus
establishing moderator acting as an efficient heat sink for IPHWRs.
Abstract: Using vision based solution in intelligent vehicle application often needs large memory to handle video stream and image process which increase complexity of hardware and software. In this paper, we present a FPGA implement of a vision based lane departure warning system. By taking frame of videos, the line gradient of line is estimated and the lane marks are found. By analysis the position of lane mark, departure of vehicle will be detected in time. This idea has been implemented in Xilinx Spartan6 FPGA. The lane departure warning system used 39% logic resources and no memory of the device. The average availability is 92.5%. The frame rate is more than 30 frames per second (fps).
Abstract: Small cracks or chips of a product appear very
frequently in the course of continuous production of an automatic
press process system. These phenomena become the cause of not only
defective product but also damage of a press mold. In order to solve
this problem AE system was introduced. AE system was expected to
be very effective to real time detection of the defective product and to
prevention of the damage of the press molds.
In this study, for pick and analysis of AE signals generated from the
press process, AE sensors/pre-amplifier/analysis and processing board
were used as frequently found in the other similar cases. For analysis
and processing the AE signals picked in real time from the good or bad
products, specialized software called cdm8 was used. As a result of
this work it was conformed that intensity and shape of the various AE
signals differ depending on the weight and thickness of metal sheet
and process type.
Abstract: Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) can cause lifelong
persistent infection. One reason for the phenomena is attributed to
BVDV infection to placenta tissue. However the mechanisms that
BVDV invades into placenta tissue remain unclear. To clarify the
molecular mechanisms, we investigated the possible means that
BVDV entered into bovine trophoblast cells (TPC). Yeast two-hybrid
system was used to identify proteins extracted from TPC, which
interact with BVDV envelope glycoprotein E2. A PGbkt7-E2 yeast
expression vector and TPC cDNA library were constructed. Through
two rounds of screening, three positive clones were identified.
Sequencing analysis indicated that all the three positive clones
encoded the same protein clathrin. Physical interaction between
clathrin and BVDV E2 protein was further confirmed by
coimmunoprecipitation experiments. This result suggested that the
clathrin might play a critical role in the process of BVDV entry into
placenta tissue and might be a novel antiviral target for preventing
BVDV infection.
Abstract: This paper studies the mean square exponential synchronization problem of a class of stochastic neutral type chaotic neural networks with mixed delay. On the Basis of Lyapunov stability theory, some sufficient conditions ensuring the mean square exponential synchronization of two identical chaotic neural networks are obtained by using stochastic analysis and inequality technique. These conditions are expressed in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), whose feasibility can be easily checked by using Matlab LMI Toolbox. The feedback controller used in this paper is more general than those used in previous literatures. One simulation example is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the derived results.
