Abstract: The Spalart and Allmaras turbulence model has been
implemented in a numerical code to study the compressible turbulent
flows, which the system of governing equations is solved with a
finite volume approach using a structured grid. The AUSM+ scheme
is used to calculate the inviscid fluxes. Different benchmark
problems have been computed to validate the implementation and
numerical results are shown. A special Attention is paid to wall jet
applications. In this study, the jet is submitted to various wall
boundary conditions (adiabatic or uniform heat flux) in forced
convection regime and both two-dimensional and axisymmetric wall
jets are considered. The comparison between the numerical results
and experimental data has given the validity of this turbulence model
to study the turbulent wall jets especially in engineering applications.
Abstract: Relevant agricultural information disseminator
(extension agent) ratio of 1:3500 farm families which become a
menace to agricultural production capacity in developing countries
necessitate this study. Out of 4 zones in the state, 24 extension agents
in each zone, 4 extension agents using cell phones and 120 farmers
using cell phone and 120 other farmers not using cell phone were
purposively selected to give 240 farmers that participated in the
research. Data were collected using interview guide and analysized
using frequency, percentage and t-test.. Frequency of contact with
agricultural information centers revealed that cell phone user farmers
had greater means score of X 41.43 contact as against the low mean
X19.32 contact recorded by farmers receiving agricultural
information from extension agents not using cell phone and their
production was statistically significant at P < 0.05. Usage of cell
phone increase extension agent contact and increase farmers-
production capacity.
Abstract: Today, Hydroforming technology provides an
attractive alternative to conventional matched die forming, especially
for cost-sensitive, lower volume production, and for parts with
irregular contours. In this study the critical fluid pressures which lead
to rupture in the workpiece has been investigated by theoretical and
finite element methods. The axisymmetric analysis was developed to
investigate the tearing phenomenon in cylindrical Hydroforming
Deep Drawing (HDD). By use of obtained equations the effect of
anisotropy, drawing ratio, sheet thickness and strain hardening
exponent on tearing diagram were investigated.
Abstract: A key aspect of the design of any software system is
its architecture. An architecture description provides a formal model
of the architecture in terms of components and connectors and how
they are composed together. COSA (Component-Object based
Software Structures), is based on object-oriented modeling and
component-based modeling. The model improves the reusability by
increasing extensibility, evolvability, and compositionality of the
software systems. This paper presents the COSA modelling tool
which help architects the possibility to verify the structural coherence
of a given system and to validate its semantics with COSA approach.
Abstract: Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have been shown to deliver capacity approaching performance; however, problematic graphical structures (e.g. trapping sets) in the Tanner graph of some LDPC codes can cause high error floors in bit-error-ratio (BER) performance under conventional sum-product algorithm (SPA). This paper presents a serial concatenation scheme to avoid the trapping sets and to lower the error floors of LDPC code. The outer code in the proposed concatenation is the LDPC, and the inner code is a high rate array code. This approach applies an interactive hybrid process between the BCJR decoding for the array code and the SPA for the LDPC code together with bit-pinning and bit-flipping techniques. Margulis code of size (2640, 1320) has been used for the simulation and it has been shown that the proposed concatenation and decoding scheme can considerably improve the error floor performance with minimal rate loss.
Abstract: The objective of this research was to study the factors
related to the satisfaction of consumers who purchased a Toyota
SUV Fortuner. This paper was a survey data which collected 400
samples from 65 car dealerships. The survey was conducted mainly
in Bangkok, Thailand. The statistics utilized in this paper included
percentage, mean, standard deviation and Pearson Product-Moment.
The findings revealed that the majority of respondent were male with
an undergraduate degree, married and live together. The average
income of the respondents was between 20,001 - 30,000 baht. Most
of them worked for private companies. Most of them had a family
with the average of 4 members. The hypotheses testing revealed that
the factors of marketing mix in terms of product (ability, gas
mileage, and safety) were related to overall satisfaction at the
medium level. However, the findings also revealed that the factors of
marketing mix in terms of product (image), price, and promotion, and
service center were related to the overall satisfaction at the low level.
Abstract: The paper focuses on the area of context modeling with respect to the specification of context-aware systems supporting ubiquitous applications. The proposed approach, followed within the SIMPLICITY IST project, uses a high-level system ontology to derive context models for system components which consequently are mapped to the system's physical entities. For the definition of user and device-related context models in particular, the paper suggests a standard-based process consisting of an analysis phase using the Common Information Model (CIM) methodology followed by an implementation phase that defines 3GPP based components. The benefits of this approach are further depicted by preliminary examples of XML grammars defining profiles and components, component instances, coupled with descriptions of respective ubiquitous applications.

plan of the course; Reading and Writing English for Academic
Purposes II, and tool for data collection includes 4 writing tests of
short texts. The research findings disclose that frequent English
writing errors found in this course comprise 7 types of grammatical
errors, namely Fragment sentence, Subject-verb agreement, Wrong
form of verb tense, Singular or plural noun endings, Run-ons
sentence, Wrong form of verb pattern and Lack of parallel structure.
Moreover, it is found that the results of writing error correction by
using coded indirect corrective feedback and error treatment reveal
the overall reduction of the frequent English writing errors and the
increase of students’ achievement in the writing of short texts with
the significance at .05.
Abstract: Document image processing has become an
increasingly important technology in the automation of office
documentation tasks. During document scanning, skew is inevitably
introduced into the incoming document image. Since the algorithm
for layout analysis and character recognition are generally very
sensitive to the page skew. Hence, skew detection and correction in
document images are the critical steps before layout analysis. In this
paper, a novel skew detection method is presented for binary
document images. The method considered the some selected
characters of the text which may be subjected to thinning and Hough
transform to estimate skew angle accurately. Several experiments
have been conducted on various types of documents such as
documents containing English Documents, Journals, Text-Book,
Different Languages and Document with different fonts, Documents
with different resolutions, to reveal the robustness of the proposed
method. The experimental results revealed that the proposed method
is accurate compared to the results of well-known existing methods.
Abstract: We attempted investigate a boat model, based on the
conversion of energy of surface wave into a sequence of
unidirectional pulses of jet spurts, in other words - model of the boat,
which is thrusting by the waves field on water surface. These pulses
are forming some average reactive stream from the output nozzle on
the stern of boat. The suggested model provides the conversion of its
oscillatory motions (both pitching and rolling) into a jet flow. This
becomes possible due to special construction of the boat and due to
several details, sensitive to the local wave field. The boat model
presents the uniflow jet engine without slow conversions of
mechanical energy into intermediate forms and without any external
sources of energy (besides surface waves). Motion of boat is
characterized by fast jerks and average onward velocity, which
exceeds the velocities of liquid particles in the wave.
Abstract: Transpedicular screw fixation in spinal fractures,
degenerative changes, or deformities is a well-established procedure.
However, important rate of fixation failure due to screw bending,
loosening, or pullout are still reported particularly in weak bone stock
in osteoporosis. To overcome the problem, mechanism of failure has
to be fully investigated in vitro. Post-mortem human subjects are less
accessible and animal cadavers comprise limitations due to different
geometry and mechanical properties. Therefore, the development of a
synthetic model mimicking the realistic human vertebra is highly
demanded. A bone surrogate, composed of Polyurethane (PU) foam
analogous to cancellous bone porous structure, was tested for 3
different densities in this study. The mechanical properties were
investigated under uniaxial compression test by minimizing the end
artifacts on specimens. The results indicated that PU foam of 0.32
g.cm-3 density has comparable mechanical properties to human
cancellous bone in terms of young-s modulus and yield strength.
Therefore, the obtained information can be considered as primary
step for developing a realistic cancellous bone of human vertebral
body. Further evaluations are also recommended for other density
groups.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to explore the impacts of
computer games on the mathematics instruction. First, the research
designed and implemented the web-based games according to the
content of existing textbook. And the researcher collected and
analyzed the information related to the mathematics instruction
integrating the computer games. In this study, the researcher focused
on the learning motivation of mathematics, mathematics achievement,
and pupil-teacher interactions in classroom. The results showed that
students under instruction integrating computer games significantly
improved in motivation and achievement. The teacher tended to use
less direct teaching and provide more time for student-s active
learning.
Abstract: Even though most researchers would agree that in
symbiotic relationships, like the one between parent and child,
influences become reciprocal over time, empirical evidence
supporting this claim is limited. The aim of the current study was to
develop and test a model describing the reciprocal influence between
characteristics of the parent-child relationship, such as closeness and
conflict, and the child-s bullying and victimization experiences at
school. The study used data from the longitudinal Study of Early
Child-Care, conducted by the National Institute of Child Health and
Human Development. The participants were dyads of early
adolescents (5th and 6th graders during the two data collection waves)
and their mothers (N=1364). Supporting our hypothesis, the findings
suggested a reciprocal association between bullying and positive
parenting, although this association was only significant for boys.
Victimization and positive parenting were not significantly
interrelated.
Abstract: This work offers a study of new simple compact model
of dual-drain Magnetic Field Effect Transistor (MAGFET) including
geometrical effects and biasing dependency. An explanation of the
sensitivity is investigated, involving carrier deflection as the dominant
operating principle. Finally, model verification with simulation results
is introduced to ensure that acceptable error of 2% is achieved.
Abstract: Spatial and mobile computing evolves. This paper
describes a smart modeling platform called “GeoSEMA". This
approach tends to model multidimensional GeoSpatial Evolutionary
and Mobile Agents. Instead of 3D and location-based issues, there
are some other dimensions that may characterize spatial agents, e.g.
discrete-continuous time, agent behaviors. GeoSEMA is seen as a
devoted design pattern motivating temporal geographic-based
applications; it is a firm foundation for multipurpose and
multidimensional special-based applications. It deals with
multipurpose smart objects (buildings, shapes, missiles, etc.) by
stimulating geospatial agents.
Formally, GeoSEMA refers to geospatial, spatio-evolutive and
mobile space constituents where a conceptual geospatial space model
is given in this paper. In addition to modeling and categorizing
geospatial agents, the model incorporates the concept of inter-agents
event-based protocols. Finally, a rapid software-architecture
prototyping GeoSEMA platform is also given. It will be
implemented/ validated in the next phase of our work.
Abstract: In a competitive production environment, critical
decision making are based on data resulted by random sampling of
product units. Efficiency of these decisions depends on data quality
and also their reliability scale. This point leads to the necessity of a
reliable measurement system. Therefore, the conjecture process and
analysing the errors contributes to a measurement system known as
Measurement System Analysis (MSA). The aim of this research is on
determining the necessity and assurance of extensive development in
analysing measurement systems, particularly with the use of
Repeatability and Reproducibility Gages (GR&R) to improve
physical measurements. Nowadays in productive industries,
repeatability and reproducibility gages released so well but they are
not applicable as well as other measurement system analysis
methods. To get familiar with this method and gain a feedback in
improving measurement systems, this survey would be on
“ANOVA" method as the most widespread way of calculating
Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R).
Abstract: The acidity of different raw Jordanian clays
containing zeolite, bentonite, red and white kaolinite and diatomite
was characterized by means of temperature programmed desorption
(TPD) of ammonia, conversion of 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol (MBOH),
FTIR and BET-measurements. FTIR spectra proved presence of
silanol and bridged hydroxyls on the clay surface. The number of
acidic sites was calculated from experimental TPD-profiles. We
observed the decrease of surface acidity correlates with the decrease
of Si/Al ratio except for diatomite. On the TPD-plot for zeolite two
maxima were registered due to different strength of surface acidic
sites. Values of MBOH conversion, product yields and selectivity
were calculated for the catalysis on Jordanian clays. We obtained that
all clay samples are able to convert MBOH into a major product
which is 3-methyl-3-buten-1-yne (MBYNE) catalyzed by acid
surface sites with the selectivity close to 70%. There was found a
correlation between MBOH conversion and acidity of clays
determined by TPD-NH3, i.e. the higher the acidity the higher the
conversion of MBOH. However, diatomite provided the lowest
conversion of MBOH as result of poor polarization of silanol groups.
Comparison of surface areas and conversions revealed the highest
density of active sites for red kaolinite and the lowest for zeolite and
diatomite.
Abstract: Given a parallel program to be executed on a heterogeneous
computing system, the overall execution time of the program
is determined by a schedule. In this paper, we analyze the worst-case
performance of the list scheduling algorithm for scheduling tasks
of a parallel program in a mixed-machine heterogeneous computing
system such that the total execution time of the program is minimized.
We prove tight lower and upper bounds for the worst-case
performance ratio of the list scheduling algorithm. We also examine
the average-case performance of the list scheduling algorithm. Our
experimental data reveal that the average-case performance of the list
scheduling algorithm is much better than the worst-case performance
and is very close to optimal, except for large systems with large
heterogeneity. Thus, the list scheduling algorithm is very useful in
real applications.
Abstract: Shear walls are used in most of the tall buildings for
carrying the lateral load. When openings for doors or windows are
necessary to be existed in the shear walls, a special type of the shear
walls is used called "coupled shear walls" which in some cases is
stiffened by specific beams and so, called "stiffened coupled shear
walls".
In this paper, a mathematical method for geometrically nonlinear
analysis of the stiffened coupled shear walls has been presented.
Then, a suitable formulation for determining the critical load of the
stiffened coupled shear walls under gravity force has been proposed.
The governing differential equations for equilibrium and deformation
of the stiffened coupled shear walls have been obtained by setting up
the equilibrium equations and the moment-curvature relationships for
each wall. Because of the complexity of the differential equation, the
energy method has been adopted for approximate solution of the
equations.
Abstract: The stilling basins are commonly used to dissipate the
energy and protect the downstream floor from erosion. The aim of
the present experimental work is to improve the roughened stilling
basin using T-shape roughness instead of the regular cubic one and
design this new shape. As a result of the present work the best
intensity and the best roughness length are identified. Also, it is
found that the T-shape roughness save materials and reduce the jump
length compared to the cubic one. Sensitivity analysis was performed
and it was noticed that the change in the length of jump is more
sensitive to the change in roughness length than the change in
intensity.
