Abstract: The objective of this research was to investigate the efficiency of the light emitting diode (LED) tube in various color lights used to lure the adult coconut hispine beetle. The research was conducted by setting the forward bias on LED tubes, and the next step was to test luminous efficacy and quantity of electricity used to power each LED tube in different color lights. Finally, the researcher examined the efficiency of each color-light LED tube to lure the adult coconut hispine beetle.
The results showed that the ultraviolet LED tubes had the most capacity to allure the adult coconut hispine beetles with the percentage of 82.92, followed by the blue LED tubes with the percentage of 59.76. Whereas the yellow, pink, red and warm white LED tubes had no influence to the adult coconut hispine beetles.
Abstract: This paper applies fuzzy AHP to evaluate the service
quality of online auction. Service quality is a composition of various
criteria. Among them many intangible attributes are difficult to
measure. This characteristic introduces the obstacles for respondents
on reply in the survey. So as to overcome this problem, we invite
fuzzy set theory into the measurement of performance and use AHP in
obtaining criteria. We found the most concerned dimension of service
quality is Transaction Safety Mechanism and the least is Charge Item.
Other criteria such as information security, accuracy and information
are too vital.
Abstract: In this paper, the concepts of dichotomous logistic
regression (DLR) with leave-one-out (L-O-O) were discussed. To
illustrate this, the L-O-O was run to determine the importance of the
simulation conditions for robust test of spread procedures with good
Type I error rates. The resultant model was then evaluated. The
discussions included 1) assessment of the accuracy of the model, and
2) parameter estimates. These were presented and illustrated by
modeling the relationship between the dichotomous dependent
variable (Type I error rates) with a set of independent variables (the
simulation conditions). The base SAS software containing PROC
LOGISTIC and DATA step functions can be making used to do the
DLR analysis.
Abstract: EPA (Ethernet for Plant Automation) resolves the nondeterministic problem of standard Ethernet and accomplishes real-time communication by means of micro-segment topology and deterministic scheduling mechanism. This paper studies the real-time performance of EPA periodic data transmission from theoretical and experimental perspective. By analyzing information transmission characteristics and EPA deterministic scheduling mechanism, 5 indicators including delivery time, time synchronization accuracy, data-sending time offset accuracy, utilization percentage of configured timeslice and non-RTE bandwidth that can be used to specify the real-time performance of EPA periodic data transmission are presented and investigated. On this basis, the test principles and test methods of the indicators are respectively studied and some formulas for real-time performance of EPA system are derived. Furthermore, an experiment platform is developed to test the indicators of EPA periodic data transmission in a micro-segment. According to the analysis and the experiment, the methods to improve the real-time performance of EPA periodic data transmission including optimizing network structure, studying self-adaptive adjustment method of timeslice and providing data-sending time offset accuracy for configuration are proposed.
Abstract: Flood zoning studies have become more efficient in
recent years because of the availability of advanced computational
facilities and use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In the
present study, flood inundated areas were mapped using GIS for the
Dikrong river basin of Arunachal Pradesh, India, corresponding to
different return periods (2, 5, 25, 50, and 100 years). Further, the developed inundation maps corresponding to 25, 50, and 100 year return period floods were compared to corresponding maps
developed by conventional methods as reported in the Brahmaputra Board Master Plan for Dikrong basin. It was found that, the average
deviation of modelled flood inundation areas from reported map
inundation areas is below 5% (4.52%). Therefore, it can be said that
the modelled flood inundation areas matched satisfactorily with
reported map inundation areas. Hence, GIS techniques were proved to be successful in extracting the flood inundation extent in a time and cost effective manner for the remotely located hilly basin of Dikrong, where conducting conventional surveys is very difficult.
Abstract: Yield and Crop Water Productivity are crucial issues
in sustainable agriculture, especially in high-demand resource crops such as sweet corn. This study was conducted to investigate
agronomic responses such as plant growth, yield and soil parameters (EC and Nitrate accumulation) to several deficit irrigation treatments
(100, 75, 50, 25 and 0% of ETm) applied during vegetative growth
stage, rainfed treatment was also tested.
The finding of this research indicates that under deficit irrigation
during vegetative growth stage applying 75% of ETm lead to increasing of 19.4% in terms of fresh ear yield, 9.4% in terms of dry grain yield, 10.5% in terms of number of ears per plant, 11.5% for
the 1000 grains weight and 19% in terms of crop water productivity compared with fully irrigated treatment. While those parameters in
addition to root, shoot and plant height has been affected by deficit
irrigation during vegetative growth stage when increasing water stress degree more than 50% of ETm.
Abstract: In the era of great competition, understanding and satisfying
customers- requirements are the critical tasks for a company
to make a profits. Customer relationship management (CRM) thus
becomes an important business issue at present. With the help of
the data mining techniques, the manager can explore and analyze
from a large quantity of data to discover meaningful patterns and
rules. Among all methods, well-known association rule is most
commonly seen. This paper is based on Apriori algorithm and uses
genetic algorithms combining a data mining method to discover fuzzy
classification rules. The mined results can be applied in CRM to

Abstract: The area of knowledge management has been in the
highlight for enterprises over the past three decades. Many
enterprises would like to have knowledge management and work hard
to achieve it, however they are often confused about which direction
to take to be successful and this point is especially true for Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries. Many large
companies have realized that knowledge is one of the richest
resources which an organization possesses and knowledge
management is a part of the foundation for a sustainable competitive
advantage. Much work has been done in the area of knowledge
management, but most of it has served large enterprises. This
research provides a Model of knowledge management strategy for
SMEs. It is based on analysis, insights and recommendations and it is
presented so that SMEs in developing countries can easily understand
and implement this model.
Abstract: The effect of SnO2 surface modification by Ag nanoclusters, synthesized by SILD method, on the operating characteristics of thin film gas sensors was studied and models for the promotional role of Ag additives were discussed. It was found that mentioned above approach can be used for improvement both the sensitivity and the rate of response of the SnO2-based gas sensors to CO and H2. At the same time, the presence of the Ag clusters on the surface of SnO2 depressed the sensor response to ozone.
Abstract: The composition, vapour pressure, and heat capacity
of nine biodiesel fuels from different sources were measured. The
vapour pressure of the biodiesel fuels is modeled assuming an ideal
liquid phase of the fatty acid methyl esters constituting the fuel. New
methodologies to calculate the vapour pressure and ideal gas and
liquid heat capacities of the biodiesel fuel constituents are proposed.
Two alternative optimization scenarios are evaluated: 1) vapour
pressure only; 2) vapour pressure constrained with liquid heat
capacity. Without physical constraints, significant errors in liquid
heat capacity predictions were found whereas the constrained
correlation accurately fit both vapour pressure and liquid heat
capacity.
Abstract: This paper proposes a comparison between wavelet neural networks (WNN), RBF neural network and polynomial approximation in term of 1-D and 2-D functions approximation. We present a novel wavelet neural network, based on Beta wavelets, for 1-D and 2-D functions approximation. Our purpose is to approximate an unknown function f: Rn - R from scattered samples (xi; y = f(xi)) i=1....n, where first, we have little a priori knowledge on the unknown function f: it lives in some infinite dimensional smooth function space and second the function approximation process is performed iteratively: each new measure on the function (xi; f(xi)) is used to compute a new estimate f as an approximation of the function f. Simulation results are demonstrated to validate the generalization ability and efficiency of the proposed Beta wavelet network.
Abstract: The aim of research project is to evaluate quantity and
quality for conjunctive use of groundwater and surface water in lower
in the Lower Nam Kam area, Thailand, even though there have been
hints of saline soil and water. The mathematical model named
WUSMO and MIKE Basin were applied for the calculation of crop
water utilization. Results of the study showed that, in irrigation
command area, water consumption rely on various sources; rain water
21.56%, irrigation water 78.29%, groundwater and some small surface
storage 0.15%. Meanwhile, for non-irrigation command area, water
consumption depends on the Nam Kam and Nambang stream 42%,
rain water 36.75% and groundwater and some small surface storage
19.18%. Samples of surface water and groundwater were collected for
2 seasons. The criterion was determined for the assessment of suitable
water for irrigation. It was found that this area has very limited sources
of suitable water for irrigation.
Abstract: A co-generation system in automobile can improve
thermal efficiency of vehicle in some degree. The waste heat from the
engine exhaust and coolant is still attractive energy source that reaches
around 60% of the total energy converted from fuel. To maximize the
effectiveness of heat exchangers for recovering the waste heat, it is
vital to select the most suitable working fluid for the system, not to
mention that it is important to find the optimum design for the heat
exchangers. The design of heat exchanger is out of scoop of this study;
rather, the main focus has been on the right selection of working fluid
for the co-generation system. Simulation study was carried out to find
the most suitable working fluid that can allow the system to achieve
the optimum efficiency in terms of the heat recovery rate and thermal
efficiency.

Abstract: As many scientific applications require large data processing, the importance of parallel I/O has been increasingly recognized. Collective I/O is one of the considerable features of parallel I/O and enables application programmers to easily handle their large data volume. In this paper we measured and analyzed the performance of original collective I/O and the subgroup method, the way of using collective I/O of MPI effectively. From the experimental results, we found that the subgroup method showed good performance with small data size.
Abstract: Imaging is defined as the process of obtaining
geometric images either two dimensional or three dimensional by scanning or digitizing the existing objects or products. In this research, it applied to retrieve 3D information of the human skin
surface in medical application. This research focuses on analyzing
and determining volume of leg ulcers using imaging devices. Volume
determination is one of the important criteria in clinical assessment of leg ulcer. The volume and size of the leg ulcer wound will give the
indication on responding to treatment whether healing or worsening.
Different imaging techniques are expected to give different result (and accuracies) in generating data and images. Midpoint projection
algorithm was used to reconstruct the cavity to solid model and compute the volume. Misinterpretation of the results can affect the
treatment efficacy. The objectives of this paper is to compare the
accuracy between two 3D data acquisition method, which is laser
triangulation and structured light methods, It was shown that using models with known volume, that structured-light-based 3D technique
produces better accuracy compared with laser triangulation data
acquisition method for leg ulcer volume determination.
Abstract: Realistic 3D face model is desired in various
applications such as face recognition, games, avatars, animations, and
etc. Construction of 3D face model is composed of 1) building a face
shape model and 2) rendering the face shape model. Thus, building a
realistic 3D face shape model is an essential step for realistic 3D face
model. Recently, 3D morphable model is successfully introduced to
deal with the various human face shapes. 3D dense correspondence
problem should be precedently resolved for constructing a realistic 3D
dense morphable face shape model. Several approaches to 3D dense
correspondence problem in 3D face modeling have been proposed
previously, and among them optical flow based algorithms and TPS
(Thin Plate Spline) based algorithms are representative. Optical flow
based algorithms require texture information of faces, which is
sensitive to variation of illumination. In TPS based algorithms
proposed so far, TPS process is performed on the 2D projection
representation in cylindrical coordinates of the 3D face data, not
directly on the 3D face data and thus errors due to distortion in data
during 2D TPS process may be inevitable.
In this paper, we propose a new 3D dense correspondence algorithm
for 3D dense morphable face shape modeling. The proposed algorithm
does not need texture information and applies TPS directly on 3D face
data. Through construction procedures, it is observed that the proposed
algorithm constructs realistic 3D face morphable model reliably and
fast.
Abstract: Adjacent Hall microsensors, comprising a silicon
substrate and four contacts, providing simultaneously two supply inputs and two differential outputs, are characterized. The voltage
related sensitivity is in the order of 0.11T-1, and a cancellation method for offset compensation is used, achieving residual offset in
the micro scale which is also compared to a single Hall plate.
Abstract: In this study, the forty Thai medicinal plants were
used to screen the antibacterial activity against Campylobacter jejuni.
Crude 95% ethanolic extracts of each plant were prepared.
Antibacterial activity was investigated by the disc diffusion assay,
and MICs and MBCs were determined by broth microdilution. The
results of antibacterial screening showed that five plants have activity
against C.jejuni including Adenanthera pavonina L., Moringa
oleifera Lam., Annona squamosa L., Hibiscus sabdariffa L. and
Eupotorium odortum L. The extraction of A. pavonina L. and A.
squamosa L. produced an outstanding against C. jejuni, inhibiting
growth at 62.5-125 and 250-500 μg/mL, respectively. The MBCs of
two extracts were just 4-fold higher than MICs against C. jejuni,
suggesting the extracts are bactericidal against this species. These
results indicate that A. pavonina and A. squamosa could potentially
be used in modern applications aimed at treatment or prevention of
foodborne disease from C. jejuni.
