Abstract: Wireless Sensor Networks can be used to monitor the
physical phenomenon in such areas where human approach is nearly
impossible. Hence the limited power supply is the major constraint of
the WSNs due to the use of non-rechargeable batteries in sensor
nodes. A lot of researches are going on to reduce the energy
consumption of sensor nodes. Energy map can be used with
clustering, data dissemination and routing techniques to reduce the
power consumption of WSNs. Energy map can also be used to know
which part of the network is going to fail in near future. In this paper,
Energy map is constructed using the prediction based approach.
Adaptive alpha GM(1,1) model is used as the prediction model.
GM(1,1) is being used worldwide in many applications for predicting
future values of time series using some past values due to its high
computational efficiency and accuracy.
Abstract: In this paper we propose a new traffic simulation
package, TDMSim, which supports both macroscopic and
microscopic simulation on free-flowing and regulated traffic systems.
Both simulators are based on travel demands, which specify the
numbers of vehicles departing from origins to arrive at different
destinations. The microscopic simulator implements the carfollowing
model given the pre-defined routes of the vehicles but also
supports the rerouting of vehicles. We also propose a macroscopic
simulator which is built in integration with the microscopic simulator
to allow the simulation to be scaled for larger networks without
sacrificing the precision achievable through the microscopic
simulator. The macroscopic simulator also enables the reuse of
previous simulation results when simulating traffic on the same
networks at later time. Validations have been conducted to show the
correctness of both simulators.
Abstract: Independent spanning trees (ISTs) provide a number of advantages in data broadcasting. One can cite the use in fault tolerance network protocols for distributed computing and bandwidth. However, the problem of constructing multiple ISTs is considered hard for arbitrary graphs. In this paper we present an efficient algorithm to construct ISTs on hypercubes that requires minimum resources to be performed.
Abstract: LSP routing is among the prominent issues in MPLS
networks traffic engineering. The objective of this routing is to
increase number of the accepted requests while guaranteeing the
quality of service (QoS). Requested bandwidth is the most important
QoS criterion that is considered in literatures, and a various number
of heuristic algorithms have been presented with that regards. Many
of these algorithms prevent flows through bottlenecks of the network
in order to perform load balancing, which impedes optimum
operation of the network. Here, a modern routing algorithm is
proposed as MIRAD: having a little information of the network
topology, links residual bandwidth, and any knowledge of the
prospective requests it provides every request with a maximum
bandwidth as well as minimum end-to-end delay via uniform load
distribution across the network. Simulation results of the proposed
algorithm show a better efficiency in comparison with similar
algorithms.
Abstract: We present a non standard Euclidean vehicle
routing problem adding a level of clustering, and we revisit the use
of self-organizing maps as a tool which naturally handles such
problems. We present how they can be used as a main operator
into an evolutionary algorithm to address two conflicting
objectives of route length and distance from customers to bus stops
minimization and to deal with capacity constraints. We apply the
approach to a real-life case of combined clustering and vehicle
routing for the transportation of the 780 employees of an
enterprise. Basing upon a geographic information system we
discuss the influence of road infrastructures on the solutions
generated.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to suggest energy efficient
routing for ad hoc networks which are composed of nodes with limited
energy. There are diverse problems including limitation of energy
supply of node, and the node energy management problem has been
presented. And a number of protocols have been proposed for energy
conservation and energy efficiency. In this study, the critical point of
the EA-MPDSR, that is the type of energy efficient routing using only
two paths, is improved and developed. The proposed TP-MESR uses
multi-path routing technique and traffic prediction function to increase
number of path more than 2. It also verifies its efficiency compared to
EA-MPDSR using network simulator (NS-2). Also, To give a
academic value and explain protocol systematically, research
guidelines which the Hevner(2004) suggests are applied. This
proposed TP-MESR solved the existing multi-path routing problem
related to overhead, radio interference, packet reassembly and it
confirmed its contribution to effective use of energy in ad hoc
networks.
Abstract: An Ad hoc wireless network comprises of mobile
terminals linked and communicating with each other sans the aid of
traditional infrastructure. Optimized Link State Protocol (OLSR) is a
proactive routing protocol, in which routes are discovered/updated
continuously so that they are available when needed. Hello messages
generated by a node seeks information about its neighbor and if the
latter fails to respond to a specified number of hello messages
regulated by neighborhood hold time, the node is forced to assume
that the neighbor is not in range. This paper proposes to evaluate
OLSR routing protocol in a random mobility network having various
neighborhood hold time intervals. The throughput and delivery ratio
are also evaluated to learn about its efficiency for multimedia loads.
Abstract: Routing in MANET is extremely challenging because
of MANETs dynamic features, its limited bandwidth, frequent
topology changes caused by node mobility and power energy
consumption. In order to efficiently transmit data to destinations, the
applicable routing algorithms must be implemented in mobile ad-hoc
networks. Thus we can increase the efficiency of the routing by
satisfying the Quality of Service (QoS) parameters by developing
routing algorithms for MANETs. The algorithms that are inspired by
the principles of natural biological evolution and distributed
collective behavior of social colonies have shown excellence in
dealing with complex optimization problems and are becoming more
popular. This paper presents a survey on few meta-heuristic
algorithms and naturally-inspired algorithms.
Abstract: The lack of any centralized infrastructure in mobile ad
hoc networks (MANET) is one of the greatest security concerns in
the deployment of wireless networks. Thus communication in
MANET functions properly only if the participating nodes cooperate
in routing without any malicious intention. However, some of the
nodes may be malicious in their behavior, by indulging in flooding
attacks on their neighbors. Some others may act malicious by
launching active security attacks like denial of service. This paper
addresses few related works done on trust evaluation and
establishment in ad hoc networks. Related works on flooding attack
prevention are reviewed. A new trust approach based on the extent of
friendship between the nodes is proposed which makes the nodes to
co-operate and prevent flooding attacks in an ad hoc environment.
The performance of the trust algorithm is tested in an ad hoc network
implementing the Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV)
protocol.
Abstract: This paper objects to extend Jon Kleinberg-s research. He introduced the structure of small-world in a grid and shows with a greedy algorithm using only local information able to find route between source and target in delivery time O(log2n). His fundamental model for distributed system uses a two-dimensional grid with longrange random links added between any two node u and v with a probability proportional to distance d(u,v)-2. We propose with an additional information of the long link nearby, we can find the shorter path. We apply the ant colony system as a messenger distributed their pheromone, the long-link details, in surrounding area. The subsequence forwarding decision has more option to move to, select among local neighbors or send to node has long link closer to its target. Our experiment results sustain our approach, the average routing time by Color Pheromone faster than greedy method.
Abstract: Routing in mobile ad hoc networks is a challenging task because nodes are free to move randomly. In DSR like all On- Demand routing algorithms, route discovery mechanism is associated with great delay. More Clearly in DSR routing protocol to send route reply packet, when current route breaks, destination seeks a new route. In this paper we try to change route selection mechanism proactively. We also define a link stability parameter in which a stability value is assigned to each link. Given this feature, destination node can estimate stability of routes and can select the best and more stable route. Therefore we can reduce the delay and jitter of sending data packets.
Abstract: The paper proposes and validates a new method of solving instances of the vehicle routing problem (VRP). The approach is based on a multiple agent system paradigm. The paper contains the VRP formulation, an overview of the multiple agent environment used and a description of the proposed implementation. The approach is validated experimentally. The experiment plan and the discussion of experiment results follow.
Abstract: The hydrologic time series data display periodic
structure and periodic autoregressive process receives considerable
attention in modeling of such series. In this communication long
term record of monthly waste flow of Lyari river is utilized to
quantify by using PAR modeling technique. The parameters of
model are estimated by using Frances & Paap methodology. This
study shows that periodic autoregressive model of order 2 is the most
parsimonious model for assessing periodicity in waste flow of the
river. A careful statistical analysis of residuals of PAR (2) model is
used for establishing goodness of fit. The forecast by using proposed
model confirms significance and effectiveness of the model.
Abstract: The solution algorithm, based on Lagrangian relaxation, a sub-gradient method and a heuristic to find the upper bound of the solution, is proposed to solve the coordinated fleet routing and flight scheduling problems. Numerical tests are performed to evaluate the proposed algorithm using real operating data from two Taiwan airlines. The test results indicate that the solution algorithm is a significant improvement over those obtained with CPLEX, consequently they could be useful for allied airlines to solve coordinated fleet routing and flight scheduling problems.
Abstract: Mobile Ad Hoc Networks (MANETs) are multi-hop
wireless networks in which all nodes cooperatively maintain network
connectivity. In such a multi-hop wireless network, every node may
be required to perform routing in order to achieve end-to-end
communication among nodes. These networks are energy constrained
as most ad hoc mobile nodes today operate with limited battery
power. Hence, it is important to minimize the energy consumption of
the entire network in order to maximize the lifetime of ad hoc
networks. In this paper, a mechanism involving the integration of
load balancing approach and transmission power control approach is
introduced to maximize the life-span of MANETs. The mechanism is
applied on Ad hoc On-demand Vector (AODV) protocol to make it
as energy aware AODV (EA_AODV). The simulation is carried out
using GloMoSim2.03 simulator. The results show that the proposed
mechanism reduces the average required transmission energy per
packet compared to the standard AODV.
Abstract: Flexible manufacturing system is a system that is able to respond to changed conditions. In general, this flexibility is divided into two key categories and several subcategories. The first category is the so called machine flexibility which enables to make various products by the given machinery. The second category is routing flexibility enabling to execute the same operation by various machines. Flexible manufacturing systems usually consist of three main parts: CNC machine tools, transport system and control system. A higher level of flexible manufacturing systems is represented by the so called intelligent manufacturing systems.
Abstract: Trust and Energy consumption is the most challenging
issue in routing protocol design for Mobile ad hoc networks
(MANETs), since mobile nodes are battery powered and nodes
behaviour are unpredictable. Furthermore replacing and recharging
batteries and making nodes co-operative is often impossible in
critical environments like military applications. In this paper, we
propose a trust based energy aware routing model in MANET.
During route discovery, node with more trust and maximum energy
capacity is selected as a router based on a parameter called
'Reliability'. Route request from the source is accepted by a node
only if its reliability is high. Otherwise, the route request is
discarded. This approach forms a reliable route from source to
destination thus increasing network life time, improving energy
utilization and decreasing number of packet loss during transmission.
Abstract: QoS Routing aims to find paths between senders and
receivers satisfying the QoS requirements of the application which
efficiently using the network resources and underlying routing
algorithm to be able to find low-cost paths that satisfy given QoS
constraints. The problem of finding least-cost routing is known to be
NP-hard or complete and some algorithms have been proposed to
find a near optimal solution. But these heuristics or algorithms either
impose relationships among the link metrics to reduce the complexity
of the problem which may limit the general applicability of the
heuristic, or are too costly in terms of execution time to be applicable
to large networks. In this paper, we concentrate an algorithm that
finds a near-optimal solution fast and we named this algorithm as
optimized Delay Constrained Routing (ODCR), which uses an
adaptive path weight function together with an additional constraint
imposed on the path cost, to restrict search space and hence ODCR
finds near optimal solution in much quicker time.
Abstract: To support mobility in ATM networks, a number of
technical challenges need to be resolved. The impact of handoff
schemes in terms of service disruption, handoff latency, cost
implications and excess resources required during handoffs needs to
be addressed. In this paper, a one phase handoff and route
optimization solution using reserved PVCs between adjacent ATM
switches to reroute connections during inter-switch handoff is
studied. In the second phase, a distributed optimization process is
initiated to optimally reroute handoff connections. The main
objective is to find the optimal operating point at which to perform
optimization subject to cost constraint with the purpose of reducing
blocking probability of inter-switch handoff calls for delay tolerant
traffic. We examine the relation between the required bandwidth
resources and optimization rate. Also we calculate and study the
handoff blocking probability due to lack of bandwidth for resources
reserved to facilitate the rapid rerouting.
Abstract: The Globally Asynchronous Locally Synchronous Network on Chip (GALS NoC) is the most efficient solution that provides low latency transfers and power efficient System on Chip (SoC) interconnect. This study presents a GALS and generic NoC architecture based on a configurable router. This router integrates a sophisticated dynamic arbiter, the wormhole routing technique and can be configured in a manner that allows it to be used in many possible NoC topologies such as Mesh 2-D, Tree and Polygon architectures. This makes it possible to improve the quality of service (QoS) required by the proposed NoC. A comparative performances study of the proposed NoC architecture, Tore architecture and of the most used Mesh 2D architecture is performed. This study shows that Spidergon architecture is characterised by the lower latency and the later saturation. It is also shown that no matter what the number of used links is raised; the LinksĂ—Diameter product permitted by the Spidergon architecture remains always the lower. The only limitation of this architecture comes from it-s over cost in term of silicon area.
