Abstract: Gated community has gained its dominant in residential areas development that it has become the standard development pattern of the newly built residential areas in contemporary China. The form of gated community has its own advantages and rationality that meet the needs of quite a lot of residents, but it-s also believed by researchers that the form has great damage to the urban morphology and development, and has a negative impact on residents- living style. However, there is still a considerable controversy of the origins and outcomes. Though recognized as a global phenomenon, gated community developed in China is greatly to do with the specific local forces, respect to the unique historical, political and socio-cultural momentums. A historical review of the traditional settlements in China and the trends that how Gated community has gained its contemporary form, is indispensable for comprehending the local forces, and provide a new perspective to solve the controversy.
Abstract: The increasing interest on processing data created by
sensor networks has evolved into approaches to implement sensor
networks as databases. The aggregation operator, which calculates a
value from a large group of data such as computing averages or sums,
etc. is an essential function that needs to be provided when
implementing such sensor network databases. This work proposes to
add the DURING clause into TinySQL to calculate values during a
specific long period and suggests a way to implement the aggregation
service in sensor networks by applying materialized view and
incremental view maintenance techniques that is used in data
warehouses. In sensor networks, data values are passed from child
nodes to parent nodes and an aggregation value is computed at the root
node. As such root nodes need to be memory efficient and low
powered, it becomes a problem to recompute aggregate values from all
past and current data. Therefore, applying incremental view
maintenance techniques can reduce the memory consumption and
support fast computation of aggregate values.
Abstract: In the present work flow past circular cylinder and
cylinder with rectangular and triangular wake splitter is studied to
improve aerodynamic parameters. The Comparison of drag
coefficient is tabulated for bare cylinder, cylinder with rectangular
and triangular wake splitters. Flow past circular cylinder and cylinder
with triangular and rectangular wake splitter is performed at
Reynoldsnumber 5, 20, 40, 50,80, 100.An incompressible PISO finite
volume code employing a non-staggered grid arrangement is used, a
second order upwind scheme is used for convective terms. The time
discretization is implicit and a Second order Crank-Nicholson scheme
is employed. Length of wake splitter in both configurations is taken
to be equal to diameter of cylinder. Wake length is found to be less
with rectangular wake splitter when compared to bare cylinder and
cylinder with triangular wake splitter. Coefficient of drag is found to
be less for triangular wake splitter when compared to bare cylinder &
cylinder with rectangular wake splitter.
Abstract: Some meta-schedulers query the information system of individual supercomputers in order to submit jobs to the least busy supercomputer on a computational Grid. However, this information can become outdated by the time a job starts due to changes in scheduling priorities. The MSR scheme is based on Multiple Simultaneous Requests and can take advantage of opportunities resulting from these priorities changes. This paper presents the SWARM meta-scheduler, which can speed up the execution of large sets of tasks by minimizing the job queuing time through the submission of multiple requests. Performance tests have shown that this new meta-scheduler is faster than an implementation of the MSR scheme and the gLite meta-scheduler. SWARM has been used through the GridQTL project beta-testing portal during the past year. Statistics are provided for this usage and demonstrate its capacity to achieve reliably a substantial reduction of the execution time in production conditions.
Abstract: The least mean square (LMS) algorithmis one of the
most well-known algorithms for mobile communication systems
due to its implementation simplicity. However, the main limitation
is its relatively slow convergence rate. In this paper, a booster
using the concept of Markov chains is proposed to speed up the
convergence rate of LMS algorithms. The nature of Markov
chains makes it possible to exploit the past information in the
updating process. Moreover, since the transition matrix has a
smaller variance than that of the weight itself by the central limit
theorem, the weight transition matrix converges faster than the
weight itself. Accordingly, the proposed Markov-chain based
booster thus has the ability to track variations in signal
characteristics, and meanwhile, it can accelerate the rate of
convergence for LMS algorithms. Simulation results show that the
LMS algorithm can effectively increase the convergence rate and
meantime further approach the Wiener solution, if the
Markov-chain based booster is applied. The mean square error is
also remarkably reduced, while the convergence rate is improved.
Abstract: Development of cities and villages, agricultural farms
and industrial regions in abutment and/or in the course of streams and
rivers or in prone flood lands has been caused more notations in
hydrology problems and city planning topics. In order to protection
of cities against of flood damages, embankment construction is a
desired and scientific method. The cities that located in arid zones
may damage by floods periodically. Zavvareh city in Ardestan
township(Isfahan province) with 7704 people located in Ardestan
plain that has been damaged by floods that have flowed from
dominant mountainous watersheds in past years with regard to return
period. In this study, according to flowed floods toward Zavvareh
city, was attempt to plan suitable hydraulic structures such as canals,
bridges and collectors in order to collection, conduction and
depletion of city surface runoff.
Abstract: Knowledge of patterns of genetic diversity enhances
the efficiency of germplasm conservation and improvement. In this
study 96 Iranian landraces of Triticum turgidum originating from
different geographical areas of Iran, along with 18 durum cultivars
from ten countries were evaluated for variation in morphological and
high molecular weight glutenin subunit (HMW-GS) composition.
The first two principal components clearly separated the Iranian
landraces from cultivars. Three alleles were present at the Glu-A1
locus and 11 alleles at Glu-B1. In both cultivars and landraces of
durum wheat, the null allele (Glu-A1c) was observed more
frequently than the Glu-A1a and Glu-A1b alleles. Two alleles,
namely Glu-B1a (subunit 7) and Glu-B1e (subunit 20) represented
the more frequent alleles at Glu-B1 locus. The results showed that
the evaluated Iranian landraces formed an interesting source of
favourable glutenin subunits that might be very desirable in breeding
activities for improving pasta-making quality.
Abstract: In the past decade, because of wide applications of
hybrid systems, many researchers have considered modeling and
control of these systems. Since switching systems constitute an
important class of hybrid systems, in this paper a method for optimal
control of linear switching systems is described. The method is also
applied on the two-tank system which is a much appropriate system
to analyze different modeling and control techniques of hybrid
systems. Simulation results show that, in this method, the goals of
control and also problem constraints can be satisfied by an
appropriate selection of cost function.
