Abstract: Agile Software development approaches and techniques are being considered as efficient, effective, and popular methods to the development of software. Agile software developments are useful for developing high-quality software that completes client requirements with zero defects, and in short delivery period. In agile software development methodology, quality is related to coding, which means quality, is managed through the use of approaches like refactoring, pair programming, test-driven development, behavior-driven development, acceptance test-driven development, and demand-driven development. The quality of software is measured using metrics like the number of defects during the development and improvement of the software. Usage of the above-mentioned methods or approaches reduces the possibilities of defects in developed software, and hence improves quality. This paper focuses on the study of agile-based quality methods or approaches for software development that ensures improved quality of software as well as reduced cost, and customer satisfaction.
Abstract: Model updating method has received increasing
attention in damage detection structures based on measured modal
parameters. Therefore, a probability-based damage detection
(PBDD) procedure based on a model updating procedure is
presented in this paper, in which a one-stage model-based damage
identification technique based on the dynamic features of a structure
is investigated. The presented framework uses a finite element
updating method with a Monte Carlo simulation that considers the
uncertainty caused by measurement noise. Enhanced ideal gas
molecular movement (EIGMM) is used as the main algorithm for
model updating. Ideal gas molecular movement (IGMM) is a multiagent
algorithm based on the ideal gas molecular movement. Ideal
gas molecules disperse rapidly in different directions and cover all
the space inside. This is embedded in the high speed of molecules,
collisions between them and with the surrounding barriers. In IGMM
algorithm to accomplish the optimal solutions, the initial population
of gas molecules is randomly generated and the governing equations
related to the velocity of gas molecules and collisions between those
are utilized. In this paper, an enhanced version of IGMM, which
removes unchanged variables after specified iterations, is developed.
The proposed method is implemented on two numerical examples in
the field of structural damage detection. The results show that the
proposed method can perform well and competitive in PBDD of
structures.
Abstract: The presence of pharmaceuticals in the environment and especially in water has gained increasing attention. They are included in emerging class of pollutants, and for most of them, legal limits have not been set-up due to their impact on human health and ecosystem was not determined and/or there is not the advanced analytical method for their quantification. In this context, the development of various advanced analytical methods for the quantification of pharmaceuticals in water is required. The electrochemical methods are known to exhibit the great potential for high-performance analytical methods but their performance is in direct relation to the electrode material and the operating techniques. In this study, two types of carbon-based electrodes materials, i.e., boron-doped diamond (BDD) and carbon nanofiber (CNF)-epoxy composite electrodes have been investigated through voltammetric techniques for the detection of naproxen in water. The comparative electrochemical behavior of naproxen (NPX) on both BDD and CNF electrodes was studied by cyclic voltammetry, and the well-defined peak corresponding to NPX oxidation was found for each electrode. NPX oxidation occurred on BDD electrode at the potential value of about +1.4 V/SCE (saturated calomel electrode) and at about +1.2 V/SCE for CNF electrode. The sensitivities for NPX detection were similar for both carbon-based electrode and thus, CNF electrode exhibited superiority in relation to the detection potential. Differential-pulsed voltammetry (DPV) and square-wave voltammetry (SWV) techniques were exploited to improve the electroanalytical performance for the NPX detection, and the best results related to the sensitivity of 9.959 µA·µM-1 were achieved using DPV. In addition, the simultaneous detection of NPX and fluoxetine -a very common antidepressive drug, also present in water, was studied using CNF electrode and very good results were obtained. The detection potential values that allowed a good separation of the detection signals together with the good sensitivities were appropriate for the simultaneous detection of both tested pharmaceuticals. These results reclaim CNF electrode as a valuable tool for the individual/simultaneous detection of pharmaceuticals in water.
Abstract: Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond coated
cutting tool has excellent cutting performance, it is the most ideal tool
for the processing of nonferrous metals and alloys, composites,
nonmetallic materials and other difficult-to-machine materials
efficiently and accurately. Depositing CVD diamond coating on the
cemented carbide with high cobalt content can improve its toughness
and strength, therefore, it is very important to research on the
preparation technology and cutting properties of CVD diamond coated
cemented carbide cutting tool with high cobalt content. The
preparation technology of boron-doped diamond (BDD) coating has
been studied and the coated drills were prepared. BDD coating were
deposited on the drills by using the optimized parameters and the SEM
results show that there are no cracks or collapses in the coating.
Cutting tests with the prepared drills against the silumin and aluminum
base printed circuit board (PCB) have been studied. The results show
that the wear amount of the coated drill is small and the machined
surface has a better precision. The coating does not come off during
the test, which shows good adhesion and cutting performance of the
drill.
Abstract: This paper deals with efficient computation of
probability coefficients which offers computational simplicity as
compared to spectral coefficients. It eliminates the need of inner
product evaluations in determination of signature of a combinational
circuit realizing given Boolean function. The method for computation
of probability coefficients using transform matrix, fast transform
method and using BDD is given. Theoretical relations for achievable
computational advantage in terms of required additions in computing
all 2n probability coefficients of n variable function have been
developed. It is shown that for n ≥ 5, only 50% additions are needed
to compute all probability coefficients as compared to spectral
coefficients. The fault detection techniques based on spectral
signature can be used with probability signature also to offer
computational advantage.
Abstract: Binary Decision Diagrams (BDDs) are useful data
structures for symbolic Boolean manipulations. BDDs are used in
many tasks in VLSI/CAD, such as equivalence checking, property
checking, logic synthesis, and false paths. In this paper we describe a
new approach for the realization of a BDD package. To perform
manipulations of Boolean functions, the proposed approach does not
depend on the recursive synthesis operation of the IF-Then-Else
(ITE). Instead of using the ITE operation, the basic synthesis
algorithm is done using Boolean NOR operation.
Abstract: This paper analyzes the patterns of the Monte Carlo
data for a large number of variables and minterms, in order to
characterize the circuit path length behavior. We propose models
that are determined by training process of shortest path length
derived from a wide range of binary decision diagram (BDD)
simulations. The creation of the model was done use of feed forward
neural network (NN) modeling methodology. Experimental results
for ISCAS benchmark circuits show an RMS error of 0.102 for the
shortest path length complexity estimation predicted by the NN
model (NNM). Use of such a model can help reduce the time
complexity of very large scale integrated (VLSI) circuitries and
related computer-aided design (CAD) tools that use BDDs.
Abstract: Querying a data source and routing data towards sink
becomes a serious challenge in static wireless sensor networks if sink
and/or data source are mobile. Many a times the event to be observed
either moves or spreads across wide area making maintenance of
continuous path between source and sink a challenge. Also, sink can
move while query is being issued or data is on its way towards sink.
In this paper, we extend our already proposed Grid Based Data
Dissemination (GBDD) scheme which is a virtual grid based
topology management scheme restricting impact of movement of
sink(s) and event(s) to some specific cells of a grid. This obviates the
need for frequent path modifications and hence maintains continuous
flow of data while minimizing the network energy consumptions.
Simulation experiments show significant improvements in network
energy savings and average packet delay for a packet to reach at sink.
Abstract: This paper presents an improved variable ordering method to obtain the minimum number of nodes in Reduced Ordered Binary Decision Diagrams (ROBDD). The proposed method uses the graph topology to find the best variable ordering. Therefore the input Boolean function is converted to a unidirectional graph. Three levels of graph parameters are used to increase the probability of having a good variable ordering. The initial level uses the total number of nodes (NN) in all the paths, the total number of paths (NP) and the maximum number of nodes among all paths (MNNAP). The second and third levels use two extra parameters: The shortest path among two variables (SP) and the sum of shortest path from one variable to all the other variables (SSP). A permutation of the graph parameters is performed at each level for each variable order and the number of nodes is recorded. Experimental results are promising; the proposed method is found to be more effective in finding the variable ordering for the majority of benchmark circuits.
Abstract: The goal of this work is to describe a new algorithm for finding the optimal variable order, number of nodes for any order and other ROBDD parameters, based on a tabular method. The tabular method makes use of a pre-built backend database table that stores the ROBDD size for selected combinations of min-terms. The user uses the backend table and the proposed algorithm to find the necessary ROBDD parameters, such as best variable order, number of nodes etc. Experimental results on benchmarks are given for this technique.
