Abstract: This paper describes a node pair selection scheme
in relay-aided multiple source multiple destination communication
system based on stable marriage problem. A general case is assumed
in which all of source, relay and destination nodes are equipped
with multiantenna and carry out multistream transmission. Based
on several metrics introduced from inter-node channel condition,
the preference order is determined about all source-relay and
relay-destination relations, and then the node pairs are determined
using Gale-Shapley algorithm. The computer simulations show
that the effectiveness of node pair selection is larger in multihop
communication. Some additional aspects which are different from
relay-less case are also investigated.
Abstract: At present, it is widely-known that free radicals are the causes of illness such as cancers, coronary heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and aging. One method of protection from free radical is the consumption of antioxidant-containing foods or herbs. Several analytical methods have been used for qualitative and quantitative determination of antioxidants. This project aimed to evaluate antioxidant activity of ethanolic and aqueous extracts from cabbage (Brassicca oleracea L. var. capitata L.) measured by DPPH and Hydroxyl radical scavenging method. The results show that averaged antioxidant activity measured in ethanolic extract (µmol Ascorbic acid equivalent/g fresh mass) were 7.316 ± 0.715 and 4.66 ± 1.029 as determined by DPPH and Hydroxyl radical scavenging activity assays respectively. Averaged antioxidant activity measured in aqueous extract (µmol Ascorbic acid equivalent/g fresh mass) were 15.141 ± 2.092 and 4.955 ± 1.975 as determined by DPPH and Hydroxyl radical scavenging activity assays respectively.
Abstract: This survey research aims to study the standard of service quality of food and beverage service staffs in hotel business by studying the service standard of three sample hotels, Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok, Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai, and Banyan Tree Phuket. In order to find the international service standard of food and beverage service, triangular research, i.e. quantitative, qualitative, and survey were employed. In this research, questionnaires and in-depth interview were used for getting the information on the sequences and method of services. There were three parts of modified questionnaires to measure service quality and guest’s satisfaction including service facilities, attentiveness, responsibility, reliability, and circumspection. This study used sample random sampling to derive subjects with the return rate of the questionnaires was 70% or 280. Data were analyzed by SPSS to find arithmetic mean, SD, percentage, and comparison by t-test and One-way ANOVA. The results revealed that the service quality of the three hotels were in the international level which could create high satisfaction to the international customers. Recommendations for research implementations were to maintain the area of good service quality, and to improve some dimensions of service quality such as reliability. Training in service standard, product knowledge, and new technology for employees should be provided. Furthermore, in order to develop the service quality of the industry, training collaboration between hotel organization and educational institutions in food and beverage service should be considered.
Abstract: This paper proposes an application of probabilistic technique, namely Gaussian process regression, for estimating an optimal sequence of the single machine with total weighted tardiness (SMTWT) scheduling problem. In this work, the Gaussian process regression (GPR) model is utilized to predict an optimal sequence of the SMTWT problem, and its solution is improved by using an iterated local search based on simulated annealing scheme, called GPRISA algorithm. The results show that the proposed GPRISA method achieves a very good performance and a reasonable trade-off between solution quality and time consumption. Moreover, in the comparison of deviation from the best-known solution, the proposed mechanism noticeably outperforms the recently existing approaches.
Abstract: The purpose of this research was to explore the relation between proactive coping and well-being of middle-aged adults. Abstract: Many problems are occurred in watershed due to human activity and economic development. The purpose is to determine the effects of the land use change on surface runoff using land use map on 1980, 2001 and 2008 and daily weather data during January 1, 1979 to September 30, 2010 applied to SWAT. The results can be presented that the polynomial equation is suitable to display that relationship. These equations for land use in 1980, 2001 and 2008 are consisted of y = -0.0076x5 + 0.1914x4–1.6386x3 + 6.6324x2–8.736x + 7.8023(R2 = 0.9255), y = -0.0298x5 + 0.8794x4 - 9.8056x3 + 51.99x2 - 117.04x + 96.797; (R2 = 0.9186) and y = -0.0277x5 + 0.8132x4 - 8.9598x3 + 46.498x2–101.83x +81.108 (R2 = 0.9006), respectively. Moreover, if the agricultural area is the largest area, it is a sensitive parameter to concern surface runoff.
Abstract: The climate change is a main parameter which affects the element of hydrological cycle especially runoff. Then, the purpose of this study is to determine the impact of the climate change on surface runoff using land use map on 2008 and daily weather data during January 1, 1979 to September 30, 2010 for SWAT model. SWAT continuously simulate time model and operates on a daily time step at basin scale. The results present that the effect of temperature change cannot be clearly presented on the change of runoff while the rainfall, relative humidity and evaporation are the parameters for the considering of runoff change. If there are the increasing of rainfall and relative humidity, there is also the increasing of runoff. On the other hand, if there is the increasing of evaporation, there is the decreasing of runoff.
Abstract: This study involves numerical simulation of the flow
around a NACA2415 airfoil, with a 18° angle of attack, and flow
separation control using a rod, It involves putting a cylindrical rod -
upstream of the leading edge- in vertical translation movement in
order to accelerate the transition of the boundary layer by interaction
between the rod wake and the boundary layer. The viscous, nonstationary
flow is simulated using ANSYS FLUENT 13. The rod
movement is reproduced using the dynamic mesh technique and an
in-house developed UDF (User Define Function). The frequency
varies from 75 to 450 Hz and the considered amplitudes are 2%, and
3% of the foil chord. The frequency chosen closed to the frequency
of separation. Our results showed a substantial modification in the
flow behavior and a maximum drag reduction of 61%.
Abstract: Today, the need for water sources is swiftly increasing due to population growth. At the same time, it is known that some regions will face with shortage of water and drought because of the global warming and climate change. In this context, evaluation and analysis of hydrological data such as the observed trends, drought and flood prediction of short term flow has great deal of importance. The most accurate selection probability distribution is important to describe the low flow statistics for the studies related to drought analysis. As in many basins In Turkey, Gediz River basin will be affected enough by the drought and will decrease the amount of used water. The aim of this study is to derive appropriate probability distributions for frequency analysis of annual minimum flows at 6 gauging stations of the Gediz Basin. After applying 10 different probability distributions, six different parameter estimation methods and 3 fitness test, the Pearson 3 distribution and general extreme values distributions were found to give optimal results.

Abstract: The paper reports on the subject of recycling and
further use of secondary raw materials obtained from solar panels,
which is becoming a very up to date topic in recent years. Recycling
these panels is very difficult and complex, and the use of resulting
secondary raw materials is still not fully resolved. Within the
research carried out at the Brno University of Technology, new
polymer materials used for industrial floors are being developed.
Secondary raw materials are incorporated into these polymers as
fillers. One of the tested filler materials was glass obtained from solar
panels. The following text describes procedures and results of the
tests that were performed on these materials, confirming the
possibility of the use of solar panel glass in industrial polymer
flooring systems.
Abstract: An effective approach to the management of international educational mobility in regional universities with the purpose of increasing tourist activity in the region is considered.
Abstract: Protein kinases participate in a myriad of cellular
processes of major biomedical interest. The in vivo substrate
specificity of these enzymes is a process determined by several
factors, and despite several years of research on the topic, is still
far from being totally understood. In the present work, we have
quantified the contributions to the kinase substrate specificity of
i) the phosphorylation sites and their surrounding residues in the
sequence and of ii) the association of kinases to adaptor or scaffold
proteins. We have used position-specific scoring matrices (PSSMs),
to represent the stretches of sequences phosphorylated by 93 families
of kinases. We have found negative correlations between the number
of sequences from which a PSSM is generated and the statistical
significance and the performance of that PSSM. Using a subset
of 22 statistically significant PSSMs, we have identified specificity
determinant residues (SDRs) for 86% of the corresponding kinase
families. Our results suggest that different SDRs can function as
positive or negative elements of substrate recognition by the different
families of kinases. Additionally, we have found that human proteins
with known function as adaptors or scaffolds (kAS) tend to interact
with a significantly large fraction of the substrates of the kinases to
which they associate. Based on this characteristic we have identified
a set of 279 potential adaptors/scaffolds (pAS) for human kinases,
which is enriched in Pfam domains and functional terms tightly
related to the proposed function. Moreover, our results show that
for 74.6% of the kinase–pAS association found, the pAS colocalize
with the substrates of the kinases they are associated to. Finally, we
have found evidence suggesting that the association of kinases to
adaptors and scaffolds, may contribute significantly to diminish the
in vivo substrate crossed-specificity of protein kinases. In general, our
results indicate the relevance of several SDRs for both the positive
and negative selection of phosphorylation sites by kinase families and
also suggest that the association of kinases to pAS proteins may be
an important factor for the localization of the enzymes with their set
of substrates.

Abstract: The research work covered in this study includes the morphological structure and optical properties of TiO2-coated silk fibroin (SF) filters at 2.5% wt. TiO2/vol. PVA solution. SEM micrographs revealed the fibrous morphology of the TiO2-coated SF filters. An average diameter of the SF fiber was estimated to be approximately 10µm. Also, it was confirmed that TiO2 can be adhered more on SF filter surface at higher TiO2 dosages. The activity of semiconductor materials was studied by UV-VIS spectrophotometer method. The spectral data recorded shows the strong cut off at 390 nm. The calculated band-gap energy was about 3.19 eV. The photocatalytic activity of the filter was tested for gaseous formaldehyde removal in a modeling room with the total volume of 2.66 m3. The highest removal efficiency (54.72 ± 1.75%) was obtained at the initial formaldehyde concentration of about 5.00 ± 0.50ppm.
Abstract: A theoretical approach to consider formation of chemical compound layer at the interface between initial substances A and B due to the interfacial interaction and diffusion is developed. It is considered situation when speed of interfacial interaction is large enough and diffusion of A-atoms through AB-layer is much more then diffusion of B-atoms. Atoms from A-layer diffuse toward B-atoms and form AB-atoms on the surface of B-layer. B-atoms are assumed to be immobile. The growth kinetics of the AB-layer is described by two differential equations with non-linear coupling, producing a good fit to the experimental data. It is shown that growth of the thickness of the AB-layer determines by dependence of chemical reaction rate on reactants concentration. In special case the thickness of the AB-layer can grow linearly or parabolically depending on that which of processes (interaction or the diffusion) controls the growth. The thickness of AB-layer as function of time is obtained. The moment of time (transition point) at which the linear growth are changed by parabolic is found.
Abstract: Torrefaction is one of waste to energy (WTE) technologies developing in Taiwan recently, which can reduce the moisture and impuritiesand increase the energy density of biowaste effectively. To understand the torrefaction characteristics of different biowaste and the influences of different torrefaction conditions, four typical biowaste were selected to carry out the torrefaction experiments. The physical and chemical properties of different biowaste prior to and after torrefaction were analyzed and compared. Experimental results show that the contents of elemental carbon and caloric value of the four biowaste were significantly increased after torrefaction. The increase of combustible and caloric value in bamboo was the greatest among the four biowaste. The caloric value of bamboo can be increased from 1526 kcal/kg to 6104 kcal/kg after 300oC and 1 hour torrefaction. The caloric valueof torrefied bamboo was almost four times as the original. The increase of elemental carbon content in wood was the greatest (from 41.03% to 75.24%), and the next was bamboo (from 47.07% to 74.63%). The major parameters which affected the caloric value of torrefied biowaste followed the sequence of biowaste kinds, torrefaction time, and torrefaction temperature. The optimal torrefaction conditions of the experiments were bamboo torrefied at 300oC for 3 hours, and the corresponding caloric value of torrefied bamboo was 5953 kcal/kg. This caloric value is similar to that of brown coal or bituminous coal.
Abstract: Human face has a fundamental role in the appearance
of individuals. So the importance of facial surgeries is undeniable.
Thus, there is a need for the appropriate and accurate facial skin
segmentation in order to extract different features. Since Fuzzy CMeans
(FCM) clustering algorithm doesn’t work appropriately for
noisy images and outliers, in this paper we exploit Possibilistic CMeans
(PCM) algorithm in order to segment the facial skin. For this
purpose, first, we convert facial images from RGB to YCbCr color
space. To evaluate performance of the proposed algorithm, the
database of Sahand University of Technology, Tabriz, Iran was used.
In order to have a better understanding from the proposed algorithm;
FCM and Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithms are also used
for facial skin segmentation. The proposed method shows better
results than the other segmentation methods. Results include
misclassification error (0.032) and the region’s area error (0.045) for
the proposed algorithm.

Abstract: This study presents a new model of the human image quality assessment process: the aim is to highlightthe foundations of the image quality metrics proposed in literature, by identifyingthe cognitive/physiological or mathematical principles of their development and the relation with the actual human quality assessment process. The model allows to createa novel categorization of objective and subjective image quality metrics. Our work includes an overview of the most used or effectiveobjective metrics in literature, and, for each of them, we underline its main characteristics, with reference to the rationale of the proposed model and categorization. From the results of this operation, we underline a problem that affects all the presented metrics: the fact that many aspects of human biasesare not taken in account at all. We then propose a possible methodology to address this issue.
