Abstract: Natural gas, as one of the most important sources of
energy for many of the industrial and domestic users all over the
world, has a complex, huge supply chain which is in need of heavy
investments in all the phases of exploration, extraction, production,
transportation, storage and distribution. The main purpose of supply
chain is to meet customers’ need efficiently and with minimum cost.
In this study, with the aim of minimizing economic costs, different
levels of natural gas supply chain in the form of a multi-echelon,
multi-period fuzzy linear programming have been modeled. In this
model, different constraints including constraints on demand
satisfaction, capacity, input/output balance and presence/absence of a
path have been defined. The obtained results suggest efficiency of the
recommended model in optimal allocation and reduction of supply
chain costs.
Abstract: The study was conducted to evaluate the efficiency of
Garlic and Chili combination solution on control of insect pests in
cabbage crop. The solution was sprayed at different intervals after
transplanting. The efficiency of Garlic and chili combination solution
on cabbage insect pests was measured. Results revealed that Garlic
and chili combination solution was the effectively reduced cabbage
insect pests. On other hand, the spray solution not only reduced the
number of days required for the cabbage growth but also greatly
enhanced the leaf number, head diameter, head weight, and quality of
cabbage. Garlic and chili combination solution have positive effects
on pests reduction and improve growth, yield and quality of cabbage
vegetable.
Abstract: The goal of this article is the analysis of knowledge
transfer at the regional level of the Czech Republic. We show how
goals of enterprises´ innovative activities are related to the rate of
cooperation with different actors within regional innovative systems
as well as in other world regions. The results show that the most
important partners of enterprises are their suppliers and clients in
most Czech regions. The cooperation rate of enterprises correlates
significantly mainly with enterprises´ efforts to enter new markets
and reduce labour costs per unit output. The meaning of this
cooperation decreases with the increase of partner’s distance.
Regarding the type of a cooperating partner, cooperation within an
enterprise had to do with the increase of market share and decrease of
labour costs. On the other hand, cooperation with clients had to do
with efforts to replace outdated products or processes or enter new
markets. We can pay less attention to the cooperation with
government authorities and organizations. The reasons for
marginalization of this cooperation should be submitted to further
detailed investigation.
Abstract: The theoretical approach is developed to describe the
change of drops in the atmosphere of own steam and buffer gas under
irradiation. It is shown that the irradiation influences on size of stable
droplet and on the conditions under which the droplet exists. Under
irradiation the change of drop becomes more complex: the not
monotone and periodical change of size of drop becomes possible.
All possible solutions are represented by means of phase portrait. It is
found all qualitatively different phase portraits as function of critical
parameters: rate generation of clusters and substance density.
Abstract: The majority of contemporary insulation materials
commonly used in the building industry is made from non-renewable
raw materials; furthermore, their production often brings high energy
costs. A long-term trend as far as sustainable development is
concerned has been the reduction of energy and material demands of
building material production. One of the solutions is the possibility of
using easily renewable natural raw material sources which are
considerably more ecological and their production is mostly less
energy-consuming compared to the production of normal insulations
(mineral wool, polystyrene). The paper describes the results of
research focused on the development of thermal and acoustic
insulation materials based on natural fibres intended for floor
constructions. Given the characteristic open porosity of natural fibre
materials, the hygrothermal behaviour of the developed materials was
studied. Especially the influence of relative humidity and temperature
on thermal insulation properties was observed.
Abstract: The effect of particle size on shear strength of
granular materials are investigated using direct shear tests. Small
direct shear test (60 mm by 60 mm by 24 mm deep) were conducted
for particles passing the sieves with opening size of 2.36 mm.
Meanwhile, particles passing the standard 20 mm sieves were tested
using large direct shear test (300 mm by 300 mm by 200 mm deep).
The large direct shear tests and the small direct shear tests carried out
using the same shearing rate of 0.09 mm/min and similar normal
stresses of 100, 200 and 300 kPa. The results show that the peak and
residual shear strength increases as particle size increases.
Abstract: Well-designed composite steel and concrete structures
highlight the good material properties and lower the deficiencies of
steel and concrete, in particular they make use of high tensile strength
of steel and high stiffness of concrete. The most common composite
steel and concrete structure is a simply supported beam, which
concrete slab transferring the slab load to a beam is connected to the
steel cross-section. The aim of this paper is to find the most adequate
numerical model of a simply supported composite beam with the
cross-sectional and material parameters based on the results of a
processed parametric study and numerical analysis. The paper also
evaluates the suitability of using compact concrete with the
lightweight aggregates for composite steel and concrete beams. The
most adequate numerical model will be used in the resent future to
compare the results of laboratory tests.
Abstract: Due to reduced stiffness, research on second
generation titanium alloys for implant applications, like the
metastable β-titanium alloy Ti-15Mo, become more and more
important in the recent years. The machinability of these alloys is
generally poor leading to problems during implant production and
comparably large production costs. Therefore, in the present study,
Ti-15Mo was alloyed with 0.8 wt.-% of the rare earth metals
lanthanum (Ti-15Mo+0.8La) and neodymium (Ti-15Mo+0.8Nd) to
improve its machinability. Their microstructure consisted of a
titanium matrix and micrometer-size particles of the rare earth metals
and two of their oxides. The particles stabilized the microstructure as
grain growth was minimized. As especially the ductility might be
affected by the precipitates, the behavior of Ti-15Mo+0.8La and Ti-
15Mo+0.8Nd was investigated during static and dynamic
deformation at elevated temperature to develop a processing route.
The resulting mechanical properties (static strength and ductility)
were similar in all investigated alloys.
Abstract: This paper presents the application of finite dynamic
programming, specifically the "Markov Chain" model, as part of the
decision making process of a company in the cosmetics sector located
in the vicinity of Bogota DC. The objective of this process was to
decide whether the company should completely reconstruct its
wastewater treatment plant or instead optimize the plant through the
addition of equipment. The goal of both of these options was to make
the required improvements in order to comply with parameters
established by national legislation regarding the treatment of waste
before it is released into the environment. This technique will allow
the company to select the best option and implement a solution for
the processing of waste to minimize environmental damage and the
acquisition and implementation costs.
Abstract: We present our approach on using continuous delivery
pattern for release management. One of the key practices of agile and
lean teams is the continuous delivery of new features to stakeholders.
The main benefits of this approach lie in the ability to release new
applications rapidly which has real strategic impact on the
competitive advantage of an organization. Organizations that
successfully implement Continuous Delivery have the ability to
evolve rapidly to support innovation, provide stable and reliable
software in more efficient ways, decrease the amount of resources
need for maintenance, and lower the software delivery time and costs.
One of the objectives of this paper is to elaborate a case study where
IT division of Central Securities Depository Institution (MKK) of
Turkey apply Continuous Delivery pattern to improve release
management process.

The article also deals with the conclusions of the research focused on the logistics information system selection in companies in the Czech Republic.
Abstract: The objectives were to study language learning strategies (LLSs) employed by Chinese students, and the frequency of LLSs they used, and examine the relationship between the use of LLSs and gender. The Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) by Oxford was administered to thirty-six Chinese students at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University in Thailand. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square tests. Three useful findings were found on the use of LLSs reported by Chinese students. First, Chinese students used overall LLSs at a high level. Second, among the six strategy groups, Chinese students employed compensation strategy most frequently and memory strategy least frequently. Third, the research results also revealed that gender had significant effect on Chinese Student’s use of overall LLSs.
Abstract: Termites have been observed as major pre-colonisation and post-colonisation pest insect of honeybees’ wooden hives in Nigeria. However, pest situation studies in modern beekeeping have been largely directed towards those pests that affect honeybees rather than the biological structure (wood) which houses the honeybees and the influence of seasons on the pests’ activities against the hives. This study, therefore, investigated the influence of seasons on the intensity of hives attacks by termites for 2 years in University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State using visual inspection. The Experimental Apiary was established with 15 Kenyan’s top bar hives made of Triplochiton scleroxylon wood that were strategically placed and observed within the Department of Forestry and Wildlife Management arboretum. The colonies hives consistently showed comparatively lower termite’s infestation levels in the dry season and, consequently, also lower attacks on the colonized hives. The result indicated raining season as a distinct period for more destructive activities of termites on the hives and strongly associated with dryness of the hives. Since previous study and observations have linked colonization with dry season coupled with minimal attacked on colonized hives; the non-colonised hives should be removed from the field at the onset of raining season and returned two weeks prior to dry season to reduce hives degradation by pests.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to follow – up the graduated students of Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU) during the 1999 – 2012 academic years and to provide the fundamental guideline for developing the current curriculum according to Thai Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (TQF: HEd). The sample was collected from 75 graduates by interview and online questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using statistical methods as percentiles, means, standard deviation, t- tests, and F- tests. The findings showed that samples were mostly female had less than 26 years old. The majority of graduates had income in the range of 10,001-20,000 Baht and experience range were 2-5 years. In addition, overall opinions from receiving knowledge to apply to work were at agree; mean score was 3.97 and standard deviation was 0.40. In terms of, the hypothesis testing’s result indicate gender only had different opinion at a significance level of 0.05.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper was to examine views of
secondary school science teachers about purposes to use practical
works in school science. The instrument to survey consisted eighteen
items, which were categorized into four components as follows:
‘Scientific inquiry’, ‘Scientific knowledge’, ‘Science-related attitude’,
and ‘STS (science-technology-society)’. Subjects were 152 secondary
school science teachers (male 70 and female 82; middle school 50 and
high school 102), who are teaching in 42 schools of 8 provinces. On
the survey, science teachers were asked to answer on 5-point Lickert
scale (from 1 to 5) how they thought of using practical works on
purposes with domains of science objectives in school. They had
positive views about using practical works for improving scientific
inquiry process skills, science-related attitudes, and perceptions about
STS literacy, and acquiring scientific knowledge. They would have the
most willingness of using practical works for ‘Scientific Inquiry’
among domains of science objectives in school.
Abstract: This paper aims to study the role and activities of the participants and the impact of activities created in the local area in order to sustainably develop the local areas. This study applied both qualitative and quantitative approaches presented in descriptive style; the data was collected via survey, observation and in-depth interviews with samples. The results illustrated five sorts of roles of participants of the Cicada Walking-street and four types of creative activities; recreation based, art based, cultural based, and live events. Integration of local characteristics, arts and cultures were presented creatively and interestingly. Participants are various. The roles of the participants found in the Cicada Market are group of the property and area management, entrepreneurs, leisure (entertaining persons), local people, and tourists. The good impacts on local communities are those in terms of economy, environmental friendly and local arts and cultures promoting. On the other hand, the traffic congestion, waste and the increasing of energy consumption are negative impacts from area development.
Abstract: By running transactions under the SNAPSHOT isolation
we can achieve a good level of concurrency, specially in databases
with high-intensive read workloads. However, SNAPSHOT is not
immune to all the problems that arise from competing transactions
and therefore no serialization warranty exists. We propose in this
paper a technique to obtain data consistency with SNAPSHOT by using
some special triggers that we named DAEMON TRIGGERS. Besides
keeping the benefits of the SNAPSHOT isolation, the technique is
specially useful for those database systems that do not have an
isolation level that ensures serializability, like Firebird and Oracle. We
describe all the anomalies that might arise when using the SNAPSHOT
isolation and show how to preclude them with DAEMON TRIGGERS.
Based on the methodology presented here, it is also proposed the
creation of a new isolation level: DAEMON SNAPSHOT.
Abstract: Cognitive symptoms and behavioral symptoms may, in fact, overlap and be related to the level of the general cognitive function. We have measured the behavioral aspects of autism and its correlation to the cognitive ability in 30 children with ASD. We used a neuropsychological Battery CANTAB eclipse to evaluate the ASD children's cognitive ability. Individuals with ASD and challenging behaviors showed significant correlation between some cognitive abilities and Motor aspects. Based on these findings, we can conclude that the motor behavioral problems in autism affect specific cognitive abilities in ASDs such as comprehension, learning, reversal, acquisition, attention set shifting, and speed of reaction to one stimulus. Future researches should also focus on the relationship between motor stereotypes and other subtypes of repetitive behaviors, such as verbal stereotypes, ritual routine adherence, and the use of different types of CANTAB tests.
Abstract: Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs), Social Enterprises and other actors play an important role in political decisions in governments at the international levels. Especially, such organizations’ and activists’ network in civil society is quite important to effect to the global politics. To solve the complex social problems in global era, diverse actors should corporate each other. Moreover, network of protesters is also contributes to diffuse tactics, information and other resources of social movements.
Based on the findings from the study of International Trade Fairs (ITFs), the author analyzes the network of activists in anti-globalism movement. This research focuses the transition of 54 activists’ whole network in the “protest event” against 2008 G8 summit in Japan. Their network is examined at the three periods: Before protest event phase, during protest event phase and after event phase. A mixed method is used in this study: the author shows the hypothesis from social network analysis and evaluates that with interview data analysis.
This analysis gives the two results. Firstly, the more protesters participate to the various events during the protest event, the more they build the network. After that, active protesters keep their network as well. From interview data, we can understand that the active protesters can build their network and diffuse the information because they communicate with other participants and understand that diverse issues are related.
This paper comes to same conclusion with previous researches: protest events activate the network among the political activists. However, some participants succeed to build their network, others do not. “Networked” activists are participated in the various events for short period of time and encourage the diffusion of information and tactics of social movements.
Abstract: The surface properties of many materials can be readily and predictably modified by the controlled deposition of thin layers containing appropriate functional groups and this research area is now a subject of widespread interest. The layer-by-layer (lbl) method involves depositing oppositely charged layers of polyelectrolytes onto the substrate material which are stabilized due to strong electrostatic forces between adjacent layers. This type of modification affords products that combine the properties of the original material with the superficial parameters of the new external layers. Through an appropriate selection of the deposited layers, the surface properties can be precisely controlled and readily adjusted in order to meet the requirements of the intended application. In the presented paper a variety of anionic (poly(acrylic acid)) and cationic (linear poly(ethylene imine), polymers were successfully deposited onto the polypropylene nonwoven using the lbl technique. The chemical structure of the surface before and after modification was confirmed by reflectance FTIR spectroscopy, volumetric analysis and selective dyeing tests. As a direct result of this work, new materials with greatly improved properties have been produced. For example, following a modification process significant changes in the electrostatic activity of a range of novel nanocomposite materials were observed. The deposition of polyelectrolyte nanolayers was found to strongly accelerate the loss of electrostatically generated charges and to increase considerably the thermal resistance properties of the modified fabric (the difference in T50% is over 20oC). From our results, a clear relationship between the type of polyelectrolyte layer deposited onto the flat fabric surface and the properties of the modified fabric was identified.
