Abstract: Anodizing is an electrochemical process that converts the metal surface into a decorative, durable, corrosion-resistant, anodic oxide finish. Aluminum is ideally suited to anodizing, although other nonferrous metals, such as magnesium and titanium, also can be anodized. The anodic oxide structure originates from the aluminum substrate and is composed entirely of aluminum oxide. This aluminum oxide is not applied to the surface like paint or plating, but is fully integrated with the underlying aluminum substrate, so cannot chip or peel. It has a highly ordered, porous structure that allows for secondary processes such as coloring and sealing. In this experimental paper, we focus on a reliable method for fabricating nanoporous alumina with high regularity. Starting from study of nanostructure materials synthesize methods. After that, porous alumina fabricate in the laboratory by anodization of aluminum oxide. Hard anodization processes are employed to fabricate the nanoporous alumina using 0.3M oxalic acid and 90, 120 and 140 anodized voltages. The nanoporous templates were characterized by SEM and FFT. The nanoporous templates using 140 voltages have high ordered. The pore formation, influence of the experimental conditions on the pore formation, the structural characteristics of the pore and the oxide chemical reactions involved in the pore growth are discuss.
Abstract: Solution of some practical problems is reduced to the
solution of the integro-differential equations. But for the numerical
solution of such equations basically quadrature methods or its
combination with multistep or one-step methods are used. The
quadrature methods basically is applied to calculation of the integral
participating in right hand side of integro-differential equations. As
this integral is of Volterra type, it is obvious that at replacement with
its integrated sum the upper limit of the sum depends on a current
point in which values of the integral are defined. Thus we receive the
integrated sum with variable boundary, to work with is hardly.
Therefore multistep method with the constant coefficients, which is
free from noted lack and gives the way for finding it-s coefficients is
present.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship
between the customers- issues in company corporate governance and
the financial performance. At the beginning theoretical background
consisting stakeholder theory and corporate governance is presented.
On this theoretical background, the empirical research is built,
collecting data of 60 Czech joint stock companies- boards
considering their relationships with customers. Correlation analysis
and multivariate regression analysis were employed to test the sample
on two hypotheses. The weak positive correlation between
stakeholder approach and the company size was identified. But both
hypotheses were not supported, because there was no significant
relation of independent variables to financial performance.
Abstract: Most integrated inertial navigation systems (INS) and
global positioning systems (GPS) have been implemented using the
Kalman filtering technique with its drawbacks related to the need for
predefined INS error model and observability of at least four
satellites. Most recently, a method using a hybrid-adaptive network
based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) has been proposed which is
trained during the availability of GPS signal to map the error
between the GPS and the INS. Then it will be used to predict the
error of the INS position components during GPS signal blockage.
This paper introduces a genetic optimization algorithm that is used to
update the ANFIS parameters with respect to the INS/GPS error
function used as the objective function to be minimized. The results
demonstrate the advantages of the genetically optimized ANFIS for
INS/GPS integration in comparison with conventional ANFIS
specially in the cases of satellites- outages. Coping with this problem
plays an important role in assessment of the fusion approach in land
navigation.
Abstract: The studies concerned an effect of six variants of ion
exchange substrate (nutrient carriers with a different potential impact
on pH of soil solution) on vegetation of orchard grass during two
different periods (42 and 84 days). In the pot experiment plants were
grown on sand (model of degraded soil) and six mixtures of sand and
2% (v/v) additions of particular variants of ion exchange substrate
(with pH ranged from 5.5 to 8.0). The study results showed that the
addition of the substrate at pH=6.5 caused the highest increase in
plant yield after shorter vegetation period whereas the addition of the
substrate at pH=5.5 increased dry stem and root biomass of orchard
grass after longer vegetation period. Thus, the ion exchange substrate
at pH=6.5 can be recommended for restoration of exhausted soils
when shorter vegetation period is planned; the ion exchange substrate
at pH=5.5 can be used for the same purpose when longer periods of
vegetative growth are considered.
Abstract: This paper proposes a new technique based on nonlinear Minmax Detector Based (MDB) filter for image restoration. The aim of image enhancement is to reconstruct the true image from the corrupted image. The process of image acquisition frequently leads to degradation and the quality of the digitized image becomes inferior to the original image. Image degradation can be due to the addition of different types of noise in the original image. Image noise can be modeled of many types and impulse noise is one of them. Impulse noise generates pixels with gray value not consistent with their local neighborhood. It appears as a sprinkle of both light and dark or only light spots in the image. Filtering is a technique for enhancing the image. Linear filter is the filtering in which the value of an output pixel is a linear combination of neighborhood values, which can produce blur in the image. Thus a variety of smoothing techniques have been developed that are non linear. Median filter is the one of the most popular non-linear filter. When considering a small neighborhood it is highly efficient but for large window and in case of high noise it gives rise to more blurring to image. The Centre Weighted Mean (CWM) filter has got a better average performance over the median filter. However the original pixel corrupted and noise reduction is substantial under high noise condition. Hence this technique has also blurring affect on the image. To illustrate the superiority of the proposed approach, the proposed new scheme has been simulated along with the standard ones and various restored performance measures have been compared.
Abstract: This paper present the study carried out of accident
analysis, black spot study and to develop accident predictive models
based on the data collected at rural roadway, Federal Route 50 (F050)
Malaysia. The road accident trends and black spot ranking were
established on the F050. The development of the accident prediction
model will concentrate in Parit Raja area from KM 19 to KM 23.
Multiple non-linear regression method was used to relate the discrete
accident data with the road and traffic flow explanatory variable. The
dependent variable was modeled as the number of crashes namely
accident point weighting, however accident point weighting have
rarely been account in the road accident prediction Models. The result
show that, the existing number of major access points, without traffic
light, rise in speed, increasing number of Annual Average Daily
Traffic (AADT), growing number of motorcycle and motorcar and
reducing the time gap are the potential contributors of increment
accident rates on multiple rural roadway.
Abstract: Generalized Center String (GCS) problem are
generalized from Common Approximate Substring problem
and Common substring problems. GCS are known to be
NP-hard allowing the problems lies in the explosion of
potential candidates. Finding longest center string without
concerning the sequence that may not contain any motifs is
not known in advance in any particular biological gene
process. GCS solved by frequent pattern-mining techniques
and known to be fixed parameter tractable based on the
fixed input sequence length and symbol set size. Efficient
method known as Bpriori algorithms can solve GCS with
reasonable time/space complexities. Bpriori 2 and Bpriori
3-2 algorithm are been proposed of any length and any
positions of all their instances in input sequences. In this
paper, we reduced the time/space complexity of Bpriori
algorithm by Constrained Based Frequent Pattern mining
(CBFP) technique which integrates the idea of Constraint
Based Mining and FP-tree mining. CBFP mining technique
solves the GCS problem works for all center string of any
length, but also for the positions of all their mutated copies
of input sequence. CBFP mining technique construct TRIE
like with FP tree to represent the mutated copies of center
string of any length, along with constraints to restraint
growth of the consensus tree. The complexity analysis for
Constrained Based FP mining technique and Bpriori
algorithm is done based on the worst case and average case
approach. Algorithm's correctness compared with the
Bpriori algorithm using artificial data is shown.
Abstract: A virtualized and virtual approach is presented on
academically preparing students to successfully engage at a strategic
perspective to understand those concerns and measures that are both
structured and not structured in the area of cyber security and
information assurance. The Master of Science in Cyber Security and
Information Assurance (MSCSIA) is a professional degree for those
who endeavor through technical and managerial measures to ensure
the security, confidentiality, integrity, authenticity, control,
availability and utility of the world-s computing and information
systems infrastructure. The National University Cyber Security and
Information Assurance program is offered as a Master-s degree. The
emphasis of the MSCSIA program uniquely includes hands-on
academic instruction using virtual computers. This past year, 2011,
the NU facility has become fully operational using system
architecture to provide a Virtual Education Laboratory (VEL)
accessible to both onsite and online students. The first student cohort
completed their MSCSIA training this past March 2, 2012 after
fulfilling 12 courses, for a total of 54 units of college credits. The
rapid pace scheduling of one course per month is immensely
challenging, perpetually changing, and virtually multifaceted. This
paper analyses these descriptive terms in consideration of those
globalization penetration breaches as present in today-s world of
cyber security. In addition, we present current NU practices to
mitigate risks.
Abstract: The field of polymeric biomaterials is very important
from the socio-economical viewpoint. Synthetic carbohydrate
polymers are being increasingly investigated as biodegradable,
biocompatible and biorenewable materials. The aim of this study was
to synthesize and characterize some derivatives based on D-mannose.
D-mannose was chemically modified to obtain 1-O-allyl-2,3:5,6-di-
O-isopropylidene-D-mannofuranose and 1-O-(2-,3--epoxy-propyl)-
2,3:5,6-di-O-isopropylidene-D-mannofuranose.
The chemical structure of the resulting compounds was
characterized by FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy, and by HPLC-MS.
Abstract: In Virtual organization, Knowledge Discovery (KD)
service contains distributed data resources and computing grid nodes.
Computational grid is integrated with data grid to form Knowledge
Grid, which implements Apriori algorithm for mining association
rule on grid network. This paper describes development of parallel
and distributed version of Apriori algorithm on Globus Toolkit using
Message Passing Interface extended with Grid Services (MPICHG2).
The creation of Knowledge Grid on top of data and
computational grid is to support decision making in real time
applications. In this paper, the case study describes design and
implementation of local and global mining of frequent item sets. The
experiments were conducted on different configurations of grid
network and computation time was recorded for each operation. We
analyzed our result with various grid configurations and it shows
speedup of computation time is almost superlinear.
Abstract: The purposes of this research are 1) to study English language learning strategies used by the fourth-year students majoring in English and Business English, 2) to study the English language learning strategies which have an affect on English learning achievement, and 3) to compare the English language learning strategies used by the students majoring in English and Business English. The population and sampling comprise of 139 university students of the Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University. Research instruments are language learning strategies questionnaire which was constructed by the researcher and improved on by three experts and the transcripts that show the results of English learning achievement. The questionnaire includes 1) Language Practice Strategy 2)Memory Strategy 3) Communication Strategy 4)Making an Intelligent Guess or Compensation Strategy 5) Self-discipline in Learning Management Strategy 6) Affective Strategy 7)Self-Monitoring Strategy 8) Self-studySkill Strategy. Statistics used in the study are mean, standard deviation, T-test and One Way ANOVA, Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and Regression Analysis. The results of the findings reveal that the English language learning strategies most frequently used by the students are affective strategy, making an intelligent guess or compensation strategy, self-studyskill strategy and self-monitoring strategy respectively. The aspect of making an intelligent guess or compensation strategy had the most significant affect on English learning achievement. It is found that the English language learning strategies mostly used by the Business English major students and moderately used by the English major students. Their language practice strategies uses were significantly different at the 0.05 level and their communication strategies uses were significantly different at the 0.01 level. In addition, it is found that the poor students and the fair ones most frequently used affective strategy while the good ones most frequently used making an intelligent guess or compensation strategy. Abstract: One promising way to achieve low temperature
combustion regime is the use of a large amount of cooled EGR. In
this paper, the effect of injection timing on low temperature
combustion process and emissions were investigated via three
dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) procedures in a DI
diesel engine using high EGR rates. The results show when
increasing EGR from low levels to levels corresponding to reduced
temperature combustion, soot emission after first increasing, is
decreased beyond 40% EGR and get the lowest value at 58% EGR
rate. Soot and NOx emissions are simultaneously decreased at
advanced injection timing before 20.5 ºCA BTDC in conjunction
with 58% cooled EGR rate in compared to baseline case.
Abstract: Quality evaluation of urban environment is an integral
part of efficient urban environment planning and management. The
development of fuzzy set theory (FST) and the introduction of FST
to the urban study field attempts to incorporate the gradual variation
and avoid loss of information. Urban environmental quality
assessment pertain to interpretation and forecast of the urban
environmental quality according to the national regulation about the
permitted content of contamination for the sake of protecting human
health and subsistence environment . A strategic motor vehicle
control strategy has to be proposed to mitigate the air pollution in the
city. There is no well defined guideline for the assessment of urban
air pollution and no systematic study has been reported so far for
Indian cities. The methodology adopted may be useful in similar
cities of India. Remote sensing & GIS can play significant role in
mapping air pollution.
Abstract: This study was conducted to investigate the optimum
levels of glutamine (Gln) supplementation in broiler diets. A total of
32 one-day-old male chicks with initial body weight 41.5 g were
segregated into 4 groups (8 chicks per group) and subsequently
distributed to individual cages. Feed and water were provided ad
libitum for 21 days. Four dietary treatments were as follows: control
and supplemented Gln at 1, 2 and 3%, respectively. The results found
that the addition Gln had no negative effects on dry matter, organic
matter, ash digestibility or nitrogen retention. Birds fed with 1% Gln
had significantly higher villi wide and villi height : crypt depth ratio
in duodenum than the control chicks and 2 and 3% Gln chicks. It is
suggested that the addition of Gln at 1% indicated a beneficial effect
on improving small intestinal morphology, in addition Gln may
stimulate immune organ development of broiler chickens.
Abstract: Short message integrated distributed monitoring systems (SM-DMS) are growing rapidly in wireless communication applications in various areas, such as electromagnetic field (EMF) management, wastewater monitoring, and air pollution supervision, etc. However, delay in short messages often makes the data embedded in SM-DMS transmit unreliably. Moreover, there are few regulations dealing with this problem in SMS transmission protocols. In this study, based on the analysis of the command and data requirements in the SM-DMS, we developed a processing model for the control center to solve the delay problem in data transmission. Three components of the model: the data transmission protocol, the receiving buffer pool method, and the timer mechanism were described in detail. Discussions on adjusting the threshold parameter in the timer mechanism were presented for the adaptive performance during the runtime of the SM-DMS. This model optimized the data transmission reliability in SM-DMS, and provided a supplement to the data transmission reliability protocols at the application level.
Abstract: The optimization and control problem for 4D trajectories
is a subject rarely addressed in literature. In the 4D navigation
problem we define waypoints, for each mission, where the arrival
time is specified in each of them. One way to design trajectories for
achieving this kind of mission is to use the trajectory optimization
concepts. To solve a trajectory optimization problem we can use
the indirect or direct methods. The indirect methods are based on
maximum principle of Pontryagin, on the other hand, in the direct
methods it is necessary to transform into a nonlinear programming
problem. We propose an approach based on direct methods with a
pseudospectral integration scheme built on Chebyshev polynomials.
Abstract: In this paper, the sum of squares in linear regression is
reduced to sum of squares in semi-parametric regression. We
indicated that different sums of squares in the linear regression are
similar to various deviance statements in semi-parametric regression.
In addition to, coefficient of the determination derived in linear
regression model is easily generalized to coefficient of the
determination of the semi-parametric regression model. Then, it is
made an application in order to support the theory of the linear
regression and semi-parametric regression. In this way, study is
supported with a simulated data example.
Abstract: Laboratory experiments have been performed to investigate photocatalytic detoxification by using TiO2 photocatalyst for treating dairy effluent. Various operational parameters such as catalyst concentration, initial concentration, angle of tilt of solar flat plate reactor and flow rate were investigated. Results indicated that the photocatalytic detoxification process can efficiently treat dairy effluent. Experimental runs with dairy wastewater can be used to identify the optimum operational parameters to perform wastewater degradation on large scale for recycling purpose. Also effect of two different types of reactors on degradation process was analyzed.
Abstract: This paper aims to describe how student satisfaction is
measured for work-based learners as these are non-traditional
learners, conducting academic learning in the workplace, typically
their curricula have a high degree of negotiation, and whose
motivations are directly related to their employers- needs, as well as
their own career ambitions. We argue that while increasing WBL
participation, and use of SSD are both accepted as being of strategic
importance to the HE agenda, the use of WBL SSD is rarely
examined, and lessons can be learned from the comparison of SSD
from a range of WBL programmes, and increased visibility of this
type of data will provide insight into ways to improve and develop
this type of delivery. The key themes that emerged from the analysis
of the interview data were: learners profiles and needs, employers
drivers, academic staff drivers, organizational approach, tools for
collecting data and visibility of findings. The paper concludes with
observations on best practice in the collection, analysis and use of
WBL SSD, thus offering recommendations for both academic
managers and practitioners.
