Abstract: Nowadays, many manufacturing companies try to
reinforce their competitiveness or find a breakthrough by considering
collaboration. In Korea, more than 900 manufacturing companies are
using web-based collaboration systems developed by the
government-led project, referred to as i-Manufacturing. The system
supports some similar functions of Product Data Management (PDM)
as well as Project Management System (PMS). A web-based
collaboration system provides many useful functions for collaborative
works. This system, however, does not support new linking services
between buyers and suppliers. Therefore, in order to find new
collaborative partners, this paper proposes a framework which creates
new connections between buyers and suppliers facilitating their
collaboration, referred to as Excellent Manufacturer Scouting System
(EMSS). EMSS plays a role as a bridge between overseas buyers and
suppliers. As a part of study on EMSS, we also propose an evaluation
method of manufacturability of potential partners with six main factors.
Based on the results of evaluation, buyers may get a good guideline to
choose their new partners before getting into negotiation processes
with them.
Abstract: Computed tomography (CT) dosimetry normally uses
an ionization chamber 100 mm long to estimate the computed
tomography dose index (CTDI), however some reports have already
indicated that small devices could replace the long ion chamber to
improve quality assurance procedures in CT dosimetry. This paper
presents a novel dosimetry system based in a commercial
phototransistor evaluated for CT dosimetry. Three detector
configurations were developed for this system: with a single, two and
four devices. Dose profile measurements were obtained with them
and their angular response were evaluated. The results showed that
the novel dosimetry system with the phototransistor could be an
alternative for CT dosimetry. It allows to obtain the CT dose profile
in details and also to estimate the CTDI in longer length than the
100 mm pencil chamber. The angular response showed that the one
device detector configuration is the most adequate among the three
configurations analyzed in this study.
Abstract: The controllable electrical loss which consists of the
copper loss and iron loss can be minimized by the optimal control of
the armature current vector. The control algorithm of current vector
minimizing the electrical loss is proposed and the optimal current
vector can be decided according to the operating speed and the load
conditions. The proposed control algorithm is applied to the
experimental PM motor drive system and this paper presents a
modern approach of speed control for permanent magnet
synchronous motor (PMSM) applied for Electric Vehicle using a
nonlinear control. The regulation algorithms are based on the
feedback linearization technique. The direct component of the current
is controlled to be zero which insures the maximum torque operation.
The near unity power factor operation is also achieved. More over,
among EV-s motor electric propulsion features, the energy efficiency
is a basic characteristic that is influenced by vehicle dynamics and
system architecture. For this reason, the EV dynamics are taken into
account.
Abstract: This paper discusses a method for improving accuracy
of fuzzy-rule-based classifiers using particle swarm optimization
(PSO). Two different fuzzy classifiers are considered and optimized.
The first classifier is based on Mamdani fuzzy inference system
(M_PSO fuzzy classifier). The second classifier is based on Takagi-
Sugeno fuzzy inference system (TS_PSO fuzzy classifier). The
parameters of the proposed fuzzy classifiers including premise
(antecedent) parameters, consequent parameters and structure of
fuzzy rules are optimized using PSO. Experimental results show that
higher classification accuracy can be obtained with a lower number
of fuzzy rules by using the proposed PSO fuzzy classifiers. The
performances of M_PSO and TS_PSO fuzzy classifiers are compared
to other fuzzy based classifiers
Abstract: The essential oil of M. × piperita L. was formulated
into a topical gel. The prepared gel was characterized for its pH,
viscosity, spreadiblity, consistency and extrudiblity, while its stability
was evaluated under different temperature conditions. The prepared
M. × piperita oil gel was clear and transparent. The pH value of
developed gel was 6.6, while its viscosity was 1200 cP. Spreadability
and consistency of the M. × piperita oil gel was 10.7 g.cm/sec and 7
mm, respectively. The prepared gel showed good extrudiblity. During
the stability studies, no significant change in pH and viscosity as a
function of time for gel was observed, indicating stability of prepared
formulation. The gel developed in this study is expected to forward
the usage of M. × piperita essential towards commercial application.
Abstract: Iris localization is a very important approach in
biometric identification systems. Identification process usually is
implemented in three levels: iris localization, feature extraction, and
pattern matching finally. Accuracy of iris localization as the first step
affects all other levels and this shows the importance of iris
localization in an iris based biometric system. In this paper, we
consider Daugman iris localization method as a standard method,
propose a new method in this field and then analyze and compare the
results of them on a standard set of iris images. The proposed method
is based on the detection of circular edge of iris, and improved by
fuzzy circles and surface energy difference contexts. Implementation
of this method is so easy and compared to the other methods, have a
rather high accuracy and speed. Test results show that the accuracy of
our proposed method is about Daugman method and computation
speed of it is 10 times faster.
Abstract: A direct downconversion receiver implemented in 0.13 μm 1P8M process is presented. The circuit is formed by a single-end LNA, an active balun for conversion into balanced mode, a quadrature double-balanced passive switch mixer and a quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator. The receiver operates in the 2.4 GHz ISM band and complies with IEEE 802.15.4 (ZigBee) specifications. The circuit exhibits a very low noise figure of only 2.27 dB and dissipates only 14.6 mW with a 1.2 V supply voltage and is hence suitable for low-power applications.
Abstract: In this paper, a fragile watermarking scheme is proposed for color image specified object-s authentication. The color image is first transformed from RGB to YST color space, suitable for watermarking the color media. The T channel corresponds to the chrominance component of a color image andYS ÔèÑ T , therefore selected for embedding the watermark. The T channel is first divided into 2×2 non-overlapping blocks and the two LSBs are set to zero. The object that is to be authenticated is also divided into 2×2 nonoverlapping blocks and each block-s intensity mean is computed followed by eight bit encoding. The generated watermark is then embedded into T channel randomly selected 2×2 block-s LSBs using 2D-Torus Automorphism. Selection of block size is paramount for exact localization and recovery of work. The proposed scheme is blind, efficient and secure with ability to detect and locate even minor tampering applied to the image with full recovery of original work. The quality of watermarked media is quite high both subjectively and objectively. The technique is suitable for class of images with format such as gif, tif or bitmap.
Abstract: Various mechanisms providing mutual exclusion and
thread synchronization can be used to support parallel processing
within a single computer. Instead of using locks, semaphores, barriers
or other traditional approaches in this paper we focus on alternative
ways for making better use of modern multithreaded architectures
and preparing hash tables for concurrent accesses. Hash structures
will be used to demonstrate and compare two entirely different
approaches (rule based cooperation and hardware synchronization
support) to an efficient parallel implementation using traditional
locks. Comparison includes implementation details, performance
ranking and scalability issues. We aim at understanding the effects
the parallelization schemes have on the execution environment with
special focus on the memory system and memory access
characteristics.
Abstract: Many studies have been conducted for derivation of
attenuation relationships worldwide, however few relationships have
been developed to use for the seismic region of Iranian plateau and
only few of these studies have been conducted for derivation of
attenuation relationships for parameters such as uniform duration.
Uniform duration is the total time during which the acceleration is
larger than a given threshold value (default is 5% of PGA). In this
study, the database was same as that used previously by Ghodrati
Amiri et al. (2007) with same correction methods for earthquake
records in Iran. However in this study, records from earthquakes with
MS< 4.0 were excluded from this database, each record has
individually filtered afterward, and therefore the dataset has been
expanded. These new set of attenuation relationships for Iran are
derived based on tectonic conditions with soil classification into rock
and soil. Earthquake parameters were chosen to be
hypocentral distance and magnitude in order to make it easier to use
the relationships for seismic hazard analysis. Tehran is the capital
city of Iran wit ha large number of important structures. In this study,
a probabilistic approach has been utilized for seismic hazard
assessment of this city. The resulting uniform duration against return
period diagrams are suggested to be used in any projects in the area.
Abstract: In this work, stationary hot-wire measurements are
carried out to investigate the characteristics of a round free jet in its
potential core region (0 ≤ x/d ≤ 10). Measurements are carried out on
an incompressible round jet for a range of Reynolds numbers from
4000 to 8000, calculated based on the jet exit mean velocity and the
nozzle diameter. The effect of flow velocity on the development
characteristics of the jet in the core region is analyzed. Timeaveraged
statistics, spectra of velocity and its higher order moments
are presented and explained.

to excellent yields in the presence of the ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-
methylimidazolium bromide [bmim]Br under relatively mild
conditions without any added catalyst, the reaction workup is simple
and the ionic liquid can be easily separated from the product and

Abstract: In this study, mechanically alloyed Al 2024 powder is
densified by conventional sintering and by equal channel angular
pressing (ECAP) with and without back pressure. The powder was
encapsulated in an aluminium can for consolidation through ECAP.
The properties obtained in the compacts by conventional sintering
route and by ECAP are compared. The effect of conventional
sintering and ECAP on consolidation behaviour of powder,
microstructure, density and hardness is discussed. Room temperature
back pressure aided ECAP results in nearly full denser (97% of its
theoretical density) compact at room temperature. NanoIndentation
technique was used to determine the modulus of the consolidated
compacts.
Abstract: The effect of Alumina nanoparticle size on thermophysical
properties, heat transfer performance and pressure loss characteristics of
Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF)-Al2O3 nanofluids is studied experimentally for
the proposed application of regenerative cooling of semi-cryogenic rocket
engine thrust chambers. Al2O3 particles with mean diameters of 50 nm or 150
nm are dispersed in ATF. At 500C and 0.3% particle volume concentration,
the bigger particles show increases of 17% in thermal conductivity and 55% in
viscosity, whereas the smaller particles show corresponding increases of 21%
and 22% for thermal conductivity and viscosity respectively. Contrary to these
results, experiments to study the heat transfer performance and pressure loss
characteristics show that at the same pumping power, the maximum
enhancement in heat transfer coefficient at 500C and 0.3% concentration is
approximately 47% using bigger particles, whereas it is only 36% using
smaller particles.
Abstract: This method decrease usage power (expenditure) in networks on chips (NOC). This method data coding for data transferring in order to reduces expenditure. This method uses data compression reduces the size. Expenditure calculation in NOC occurs inside of NOC based on grown models and transitive activities in entry ports. The goal of simulating is to weigh expenditure for encoding, decoding and compressing in Baseline networks and reduction of switches in this type of networks. Abstract: The main goal of this work is to propose a way for
combined use of two nontraditional algorithms by solving topological
problems on telecommunications concentrator networks. The
algorithms suggested are the Simulated Annealing algorithm and the
Genetic Algorithm. The Algorithm of Simulated Annealing unifies
the well known local search algorithms. In addition - Simulated
Annealing allows acceptation of moves in the search space witch lead
to decisions with higher cost in order to attempt to overcome any
local minima obtained. The Genetic Algorithm is a heuristic approach
witch is being used in wide areas of optimization works. In the last
years this approach is also widely implemented in
Telecommunications Networks Planning. In order to solve less or
more complex planning problem it is important to find the most
appropriate parameters for initializing the function of the algorithm.
Abstract: A study was conducted to determine the effect of
feeding glycerol on dairy cows performance. Twenty four Holstein
Friesian crossbred (>87.5% Holstein Friesian) lactating dairy cows in
early lactation; averaging 13+2.4 kg of milk, 64+45 days in milk,
55+16 months old and 325+26 kg live weight, were stratified for
milk yield, days in milk, age, stage of lactation and body weight, and
then randomly allocated to three treatment groups. All cows were fed
approximate 8 kg of concentrate together with ad libitum corn silage
and freely access to clean water. Nil or 150 and 300g of glycerol
were supplemented to the cows according to treatment groups. All
cows consumed similar concentrate, corn silage and total DM and
NELP. There were no significant differences in DM intake, CP intake,
NELP intake, milk and milk composition yields. All cows had similar
fat, protein, lactose, solid not fat and total solid percentage. All cows
gain similar live weight. The present study indicated that,
supplementation of glycerol did not enhance milk yield, milk
composition and live weight change.
Abstract: Calcium is a vital second messenger used in signal transduction. Calcium controls secretion, cell movement, muscular contraction, cell differentiation, ciliary beating and so on. Two theories have been used to simplify the system of reaction-diffusion equations of calcium into a single equation. One is excess buffer approximation (EBA) which assumes that mobile buffer is present in excess and cannot be saturated. The other is rapid buffer approximation (RBA), which assumes that calcium binding to buffer is rapid compared to calcium diffusion rate. In the present work, attempt has been made to develop a model for calcium diffusion under excess buffer approximation in neuron cells. This model incorporates the effect of [Na+] influx on [Ca2+] diffusion, variable calcium and sodium sources, sodium-calcium exchange protein, Sarcolemmal Calcium ATPase pump, sodium and calcium channels. The proposed mathematical model leads to a system of partial differential equations which have been solved numerically using Forward Time Centered Space (FTCS) approach. The numerical results have been used to study the relationships among different types of parameters such as buffer concentration, association rate, calcium permeability.
Abstract: Early detection of dementia by testing the spatial
memory can be applied using a virtual environment. This paper
presents guidelines on how to design a virtual environment
specifically for elderly in early detection of dementia. The specific
design needs to be considered because the effectiveness of the
technology relies on the ability of the end user to use it. The primary
goal of these guidelines is to promote accessibility. Based on these
guidelines, a virtual simulation was developed and evaluated. The
results on usability of acceptance and satisfaction that are tested on
young (control group) and elderly participants indicate that these
guidelines are reliable and useful for use with elderly people.
