Abstract: In this paper, we provided a literature survey on the
artificial stock problem (ASM). The paper began by exploring the
complexity of the stock market and the needs for ASM. ASM
aims to investigate the link between individual behaviors (micro
level) and financial market dynamics (macro level). The variety of
patterns at the macro level is a function of the AFM complexity. The
financial market system is a complex system where the relationship
between the micro and macro level cannot be captured analytically.
Computational approaches, such as simulation, are expected to
comprehend this connection. Agent-based simulation is a simulation
technique commonly used to build AFMs. The paper proceeds by
discussing the components of the ASM. We consider the roles
of behavioral finance (BF) alongside the traditionally risk-averse
assumption in the construction of agent’s attributes. Also, the
influence of social networks in the developing of agents interactions is
addressed. Network topologies such as a small world, distance-based,
and scale-free networks may be utilized to outline economic
collaborations. In addition, the primary methods for developing
agents learning and adaptive abilities have been summarized.
These incorporated approach such as Genetic Algorithm, Genetic
Programming, Artificial neural network and Reinforcement Learning.
In addition, the most common statistical properties (the stylized facts)
of stock that are used for calibration and validation of ASM are
discussed. Besides, we have reviewed the major related previous
studies and categorize the utilized approaches as a part of these
studies. Finally, research directions and potential research questions
are argued. The research directions of ASM may focus on the macro
level by analyzing the market dynamic or on the micro level by
investigating the wealth distributions of the agents.
Abstract: Bloom’s Taxonomy has been changed during the
years. The idea of this writing is about the revision that has happened
in both facts and terms. It also contains case studies of using
cognitive Bloom’s taxonomy in teaching geometric solids to the
secondary school students, affective objectives in a creative
workshop for adults and psychomotor objectives in fixing a
malfunctioned refrigerator lamp. There is also pointed to the
important role of classification objectives in adult education as a way
to prevent memory loss.
Abstract: ANDASA is a knowledge management platform for
the capitalization of knowledge and cultural assets for the artistic and
cultural sectors. It was built based on the priorities expressed by the
participating artists. Through mapping artistic activities and
specificities, it enables to highlight various aspects of the artistic
research and production. Such instrument will contribute to create
networks and partnerships, as it enables to evidentiate who does
what, in what field, using which methodology. The platform is
accessible to network participants and to the general public.
Abstract: Experiential marketing is one of the marketing
approaches that offer an exceptional framework to integrate elements
of experience and entertainment in a product or service. Experiential
marketing is defined as a memorable experience that goes deeply into
the customer’s mind. Besides that, customer satisfaction is defined as
an emotional response to the experiences provided by and associated
with particular products or services purchased. Thus, experiential
marketing activities can affect the level of customer satisfaction and
loyalty. In this context, the research aims to explore the relationship
among experiential marketing, customer satisfaction and customer
loyalty among the cosmetic products customers in Konya. The partial
least squares (PLS) method is used to analyze the survey data.
Findings of the present study revealed that experiential marketing has
been a significant predictor of customer satisfaction and customer
loyalty, and also experiential marketing has a significantly positive
effect on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty.
Abstract: This paper examines the relationship between
corporate governance rating and stock prices of 26 Turkish firms
listed in Turkish stock exchange (Borsa Istanbul) by using panel data
analysis over five-year period. The paper also investigates the stock
performance of firms with governance rating with regards to the
market portfolio (i.e. BIST 100 Index) both prior and after
governance scoring began. The empirical results show that there is no
relation between corporate governance rating and stock prices when
using panel data for annual variation in both rating score and stock
prices. Further analysis indicates surprising results that while the
selected firms outperform the market significantly prior to rating, the
same performance does not continue afterwards.
Abstract: Sustainability is a very important and heavily
discussed subject, expanding through tourism as well. The study
proposition was to collect data and present it to the competent bodies
so they can mold their public policies to improve the conditions of
the site. It was hypothesized that the lack of data is currently
affecting the quality of life and the sustainable development of the
site and the tourism. The research was held in Mateiros, a city in the
state of Tocantins (TO)/Brasil near Palmas, its capital city. Because
of the concentration of tourists during the high season and several
tourist attractions being around, the research took place in Mateiros.
The methodological procedure had a script of theoretical construction
and investigation of the deductive scientific method parameters
through a case study in the Jalapão/TO/Brazil region, using it as a
tool for a questionnaire given to the competent bodies in an interview
system with the UN sustainability indexes as a base. In the three
sustainable development scope: environmental, social and economic,
the results indicated that the data presented by the interviewed were
scarce or nonexistent. It shows that more research is necessary,
providing the tools for the ones responsible to propose action plans to
improve the site, strengthening the tourism and making it even more
sustainable.
Abstract: High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are suggested
today as essential for the cognitive development of students and as
preparing them for real life skills. Teachers are encouraged to use
HOTS activities in the classroom to help their students develop
higher order skills and deep thinking. So it is essential to prepare preservice
teachers to write and use HOTS activities for their students.
This paper describes a model for integrating HOTS activities with
GeoGebra in pre-service teachers’ preparation. This model describes
four aspects of HOTS activities and working with them: activity
components, preparation procedure, strategies and processes used in
writing a HOTS activity and types of the HOTS activities. In
addition, the paper describes the pre-service teachers' difficulties in
preparing and working with HOTS activities, as well as their
perceptions regarding the use of these activities and GeoGebra in the
mathematics classroom. The paper also describes the contribution of
a HOTS activity to pupils' learning of mathematics, where this HOTS
activity was prepared and taught by one pre-service teacher.
Abstract: In developing countries, one of the most important
restrictions about the economic growth is the lack of national savings
which are supposed to finance the investments. In order to overcome
this restriction and achieve the higher rate of economic growth by
increasing the level of output, countries choose the external
borrowing. However, there is a dispute in the literature over the
correlation between external debt and economic growth. The aim of
this study is to examine the effects of external debt on Turkish
economic growth by using VAR analysis with the quarterly data over
the period of 2002:01-2014:04. In this respect, Johansen
Cointegration Test, Impulse- Response Function and Variance
Decomposition Tests will be used for analyses. Empirical findings
show that there is no cointegration in the long run.
Abstract: This paper shows the general perceptions of Spanish
university stakeholders in relation to the university’s annual reports
and the adequacy and potential of intellectual capital reporting. To
this end, a questionnaire was designed and sent to every member of
the Social Councils of Spanish public universities. It was thought that
these participants would provide a good example of the attitude of
university stakeholders since they represent the different social
groups connected with universities. From the results of this study we
are in the position of confirming the need for universities to offer
information on intellectual capital in their accounting information
model.
Abstract: Nowadays, technological progress is one of the most
important components of economic growth and the efficiency of
R&D activities is particularly essential for countries. This study is an
attempt to analyze the R&D efficiencies of EU countries. The
indicators related to R&D efficiencies should be determined in
advance in order to use DEA. For this reason a list of input and
output indicators are derived from the literature review. Considering
the data availability, a final list is given for the numerical analysis for
future research.
Abstract: The purpose of the present study is to find the efficacy
of high school student self-assessment of written production. It aimed
to explore the following two research questions: 1) How is topic
development of their written production improved after student
self-assessment and teacher feedback? 2) Does the consistency
between student self-assessment and teacher assessment develop after
student self-assessment and teacher feedback? The data came from the
written production of 82 Japanese high school students aged from 16
to 18 years old, an American English teacher and one Japanese English
teacher. Students were asked to write English compositions, about 150
words, for thirty minutes without using dictionaries. It was conducted
twice at intervals of two months. Students were supposed to assess
their own compositions by themselves. Teachers also assessed
students’ compositions using the same assessment sheet. The results
showed that both teachers and students assessed the second
compositions higher than the first compositions. However, there was
not the development of the consistency in coherence.
Abstract: The causality between energy consumption and
economic growth has been an important issue in the economic
literature. This paper studies the causal relationship between
electricity consumption and economic growth in Mexico for the
period of 1971-2011. In so doing, unit root and causality tests are
applied. The results show that energy consumption and economic
growth series are stationary and there is also a causality relationship
running from economic growth to electricity consumption. Therefore,
any energy conservation policy would have little or no impact at all
on economic growth in México.
Abstract: Significant attention has recently been paid to the
cross-cultural negotiations due to the growth of international
businesses. Despite the substantial body of literature examining the
influence of National Culture (NC) dimensions on negotiations, there
is a lack of studies comparing the influence of NC in Latin America
with a Western European countries, In particular, an extensive review
of the literature revealed that a contribution to knowledge would be
derived from the comparison of the influence of NC dimensions on
negotiations in UK and Venezuela. The primary data was collected
through qualitative interviews, to obtain an insight about the
perceptions and beliefs of Venezuelan and British business managers
about their negotiating styles. The findings of this study indicated
that NC has a great influence on the negotiating styles. In particular,
Venezuelan and British managers demonstrated to have opposed
negotiating styles, affecting the way they communicate, approach
people and their willingness to take risks.
Abstract: This research aims to identify traditional Mon cuisines
as well as gather and classify traditional cuisines of Mon
communities in Bangkok. The studying of this research is used by

the method in collecting information from sampling totally amount of
450 persons analyzed via frequency, percentage and mean value. The
results showed that a variety of traditional Mon cuisines of Bangkok
could split into 6 categories of meat diet with 54 items and 6
categories of desserts with 19 items.
Abstract: Psychopathic disorders are taking an important part in
judge sentencing, especially in Canada. First, we will see how this
phenomenon can be illustrated by the high proportion of psychopath
offenders incarcerated in North American prisons. Many decisions in
Canadians courtrooms seem to point out that psychopathy is often
used as a strong argument by the judges to preserve public safety.
The fact that psychopathy is often associated with violence,
recklessness and recidivism, could explain why many judges consider
psychopathic disorders as an aggravating factor. Generally, the judge
reasoning is based on Article 753 of Canadian Criminal Code related
to dangerous offenders, which is used for individuals who show a
pattern of repetitive and persistent aggressive behaviour. Then we
will show how, with cognitive neurosciences, the psychopath’s
situation in courtrooms would probably change. Cerebral imaging
and news data provided by the neurosciences show that emotional
and volitional functions in psychopath’s brains are impaired.
Understanding these new issues could enable some judges to
recognize psychopathic disorders as a mitigating factor. Finally, two
important questions ought to be raised in this article: can exploring
psychopaths ‘brains really change the judge sentencing in Canadian
courtrooms? If yes, can judges consider psychopathy more as a
mitigating factor than an aggravating factor?
Abstract: Taiwanese composer Kuo Chih-Yuan (1921-2013)
studied composition at Tokyo University of the Arts and was
influenced by the musical nationalism prevailing in Japan at the time.
Determined to create world-class contemporary works to represent
Taiwan, he created music with elements of traditional Taiwanese
music in ways that had not been done before. The aims of this study
were to examine the traditional elements used in Kuo Chih-Yuan’s
Variations and Fugue on an Ancient Taiwanese Music (1972), and
how an understanding of these elements might guide pianists to
interpret a more proper performance of his work was also presented
in this study.
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the English
version and a Malay translation of the 21-item Learner Awareness
Questionnaire for its application to assess student learning in higher
education. The Learner Awareness Questionnaire, originally written
in English, is a quantitative measure of how and why students learn.
The questionnaire gives an indication of the process and motives to
learn using four scales: survival, establishing stability, approval and
loving to learn. Data in the present study came from 680 university
students enrolled in various programmes in Malaysia. The Malay
version of the questionnaire supported a similar four factor structure
and internal consistency to the English version. The four factors of
the Malay version also showed moderate to strong correlations with
those of the English versions. The results suggest that the Malay
version of the questionnaire is similar to the English version.
However, further refinement to the questions is needed to strengthen
the correlations between the two questionnaires.
Abstract: This paper will seek to clarify important key terms
such as home schooling and home education as well as the legalities
attached to such terms. It will reflect on the recent proposed changes
to terminology in NSW, Australia. The various pedagogical
approaches to home education will be explored including their
prominence in the Australian context. There is a strong focus on
literature from Australia. The historical background of home
education in Australia will be explained as well as the difference
between distance education and home education. The future of home
education in Australia will be discussed.
Abstract: This paper is based on a large questionnaire study. The
paper presents how all participants and subgroups (upper- and
lower-level white-collar workers) answered the question, “Have you
had an ache, pain, or numbness, which you associate with desktop
computer use, in the different body parts during the last 12 months?’
14.6% of participants (19.4% of women and 8.2% of men) reported
that they had often or very often physical symptoms in the neck. Even
if our results cannot prove a causal relation of symptoms with
computer use, show that workers believe that computer use can
influence their wellbeing: this is important when devising treatment
modalities to decrease these physical symptoms.
Abstract: The purpose of the paper is to address the strategic
risk issues surrounding Hindi film distribution in Mumbai for a film
distributor, who acts as an entrepreneur when launching a product
(movie) in the market (film territory). The paper undertakes a
fundamental review of films and risk in the Hindi film industry and
applies Grounded Theory technique to understand the complex
phenomena of risk taking behavior of the film distributors (both
independent and studios) in Mumbai. Rich in-depth interviews with
distributors are coded to develop core categories through constant
comparison leading to conceptualization of the phenomena of
interest. This paper is a first-of-its-kind-attempt to understand risk
behavior of a distributor, which is akin to entrepreneurial risk
behavior under conditions of uncertainty.
