Abstract: As semi-conductor manufacturing technology evolves; the single event transient problem becomes more significant issue. Single event transient has a critical impact on both combinational and sequential logic circuits, so it is important to evaluate the soft error tolerance of the circuits at the design stage. In this paper, we present a soft error detecting simulation using scan chain. The simulation model generates a single event transient randomly in the circuit, and detects the soft error during the execution of the test patterns. We verified this model by inserting a scan chain in an 8051 microprocessor using 65 nm CMOS technology. While the test patterns generated by ATPG program are passing through the scan chain, we insert a single event transient and detect the number of soft errors per sub-module. The experiments show that the soft error rates per cell area of the SFR module is 277% larger than other modules.
Abstract: In this paper, we presented a Multi-Objective Random
Drift Particle Swarm Optimization algorithm (MORDPSO-CD) based
on RDPSO and crowding distance sorting to improve the convergence
and distribution with less computation cost. MORDPSO-CD makes
the most of RDPSO to approach the true Pareto optimal solutions
fast. We adopt the crowding distance sorting technique to update and
maintain the archived optimal solutions. Introducing the crowding
distance technique into MORDPSO can make the leader particles
find the true Pareto solution ultimately. The simulation results reveal
that the proposed algorithm has better convergence and distribution.
Abstract: The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI)
and normalized difference moisture index (NDMI) derived from the
moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS) have been
widely used to identify spatial information of drought condition. The
relationship between NDVI and NDMI has been analyzed using
Pearson correlation analysis and showed strong positive relationship.
The drought indices have detected drought conditions and identified
spatial extents of drought. A comparison between normal year and
drought year demonstrates that the amplitude analysis considered both
vegetation and moisture condition is an effective method to identify
drought condition. We proposed the amplitude analysis is useful for
quick spatial assessment of drought information at a regional scale.
Abstract: H.264/AVC offers a considerably higher improvement
in coding efficiency compared to other compression standards such
as MPEG-2, but computational complexity is increased significantly.
In this paper, we propose selective mode decision schemes for fast
intra prediction mode selection. The objective is to reduce the
computational complexity of the H.264/AVC encoder without
significant rate-distortion performance degradation. In our proposed
schemes, the intra prediction complexity is reduced by limiting the
luma and chroma prediction modes using the directional information
of the 16×16 prediction mode. Experimental results are presented to
show that the proposed schemes reduce the complexity by up to 78%
maintaining the similar PSNR quality with about 1.46% bit rate
increase in average.
