Abstract: A five-class density histogram with an index named cumulative density was proposed to analyze the short-term HRV. 150 subjects participated in the test, falling into three groups with equal numbers -- the healthy young group (Young), the healthy old group (Old), and the group of patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). Results of multiple comparisons showed a significant differences of the cumulative density in the three groups, with values 0.0238 for Young, 0.0406 for Old and 0.0732 for CHF (p
Abstract: Background: This investigated the mental health of the elderly survivors six months, ten months and two years after the “5.12 Wenchuan" earthquake. Methods: Two hundred and thirty-two physically healthy older survivors from earthquake-affected Mianyang County were interviewed. The measures included the Revised Impact of Event Scale (IES-R, Chinese version, for PTSD) and a Chinese Mental Health Inventory for the Elderly (MHIE). A repeated measures ANOVA test was used for statistical analysis. Results: The follow-up group had a statistically significant lower IES-R score and lower MHIE score than the initial group ten months after the earthquake. Two years later, the score of IES-R in follow-up group were still lower than that of non-follow-up group, but no differences were significant on the score of MHIE between groups. Furthermore, a negative relationship was found between scores of IES-R and MHIE. Conclusion: The earthquake has had a persistent negative impact on older survivors- mental health within the two-year period and that although the PTSD level declined significantly with time, it did not disappear completely.
Abstract: Groups where the discrete logarithm problem (DLP) is believed to be intractable have proved to be inestimable building blocks for cryptographic applications. They are at the heart of numerous protocols such as key agreements, public-key cryptosystems, digital signatures, identification schemes, publicly verifiable secret sharings, hash functions and bit commitments. The search for new groups with intractable DLP is therefore of great importance. The goal of this article is to study elliptic curves over the ring Fq[], with Fq a finite field of order q and with the relation n = 0, n ≥ 3. The motivation for this work came from the observation that several practical discrete logarithm-based cryptosystems, such as ElGamal, the Elliptic Curve Cryptosystems . In a first time, we describe these curves defined over a ring. Then, we study the algorithmic properties by proposing effective implementations for representing the elements and the group law. In anther article we study their cryptographic properties, an attack of the elliptic discrete logarithm problem, a new cryptosystem over these curves.
Abstract: The aim of this study is to determine the effect of
strategic management implementations on the institutionalization
levels. In this regard a field study has been made over 31 stone quarry
enterprises in cement producing sector in Konya by using survey
method. In this study, institutionalization levels of the enterprises
have been evaluated regarding three dimensions: professionalization,
management approach, participation in decisions and delegation of
authority. According to the results of the survey, there is a highly
positive and statistically significant relationship between the strategic
management implementations and institutionalization levels of the
enterprises. Additionally,-considering the results of regression
analysis made for establishing the relationship between strategic
management and institutionalization levels- it has been determined
that strategic management implementations of the enterprises can be
used as a variable to explain the institutionalization levels of them,
and also strategic management implementations of the enterprises
increase the institutionalization levels of them.
Abstract: In this study spatial-temporal speckle correlation techniques have been applied for the quality evaluation of three different Indian fruits namely apple, pear and tomato for the first time. The method is based on the analysis of variations of laser light scattered from biological samples. The results showed that crosscorrelation coefficients of biospeckle patterns change subject to their freshness and the storage conditions. The biospeckle activity was determined by means of the cross-correlation functions of the intensity fluctuations. Significant changes in biospeckle activity were observed during their shelf lives. From the study, it is found that the biospeckle activity decreases with the shelf-life storage time. Further it has been shown that biospeckle activity changes according to their respiration rates.
Abstract: This study sought to determine whether there were relationships existed among leisure satisfaction, self-esteem, and spiritual wellness. Four hundred survey instruments were distributed, and 334 effective instruments were returned, for an effective rate of 83.5%. The participants were recruited from a purposive sampling that subjects were at least 60 years of age and retired in Tainan City, Taiwan. Three instruments were used in this research: Leisure Satisfaction Scale (LSS), Self-Esteem Scale (SES), and Spirituality Assessment Scale (SAS). The collected data were analyzed statistically. The findings of this research were as follows: 1. There is significantly correlated between leisure satisfaction and spiritual wellness. 2. There is significantly correlated between leisure satisfaction and self-esteem. 3. There is significantly correlated between spiritual wellness and self-esteem.
Abstract: In this paper, a new technique for fast painting with
different colors is presented. The idea of painting relies on applying
masks with different colors to the background. Fast painting is
achieved by applying these masks in the frequency domain instead of
spatial (time) domain. New colors can be generated automatically as a
result from the cross correlation operation. This idea was applied
successfully for faster specific data (face, object, pattern, and code)
detection using neural algorithms. Here, instead of performing cross
correlation between the input input data (e.g., image, or a stream of
sequential data) and the weights of neural networks, the cross
correlation is performed between the colored masks and the
background. Furthermore, this approach is developed to reduce the
computation steps required by the painting operation. The principle of
divide and conquer strategy is applied through background
decomposition. Each background is divided into small in size subbackgrounds
and then each sub-background is processed separately by
using a single faster painting algorithm. Moreover, the fastest painting
is achieved by using parallel processing techniques to paint the
resulting sub-backgrounds using the same number of faster painting
algorithms. In contrast to using only faster painting algorithm, the
speed up ratio is increased with the size of the background when using
faster painting algorithm and background decomposition. Simulation
results show that painting in the frequency domain is faster than that in
the spatial domain.
Abstract: Integration of system process information obtained
through an image processing system with an evolving knowledge
database to improve the accuracy and predictability of wear particle
analysis is the main focus of the paper. The objective is to automate
intelligently the analysis process of wear particle using classification
via self organizing maps. This is achieved using relationship
measurements among corresponding attributes of various
measurements for wear particle. Finally, visualization technique is
proposed that helps the viewer in understanding and utilizing these
relationships that enable accurate diagnostics.

Abstract: Despite the fact that B2c eCommerce has become
important in numerous economies, its adoption varies from country to
country. This paper aims to identify the factors affecting (enabling or
inhibiting) B2c eCommerce and to determine their quantitative
impact on the diffusion of online sales across countries. A dynamic
panel model analyzing the relationship between 13 factors
(Macroeconomic, Demographic, Socio-Cultural, Infrastructural and
Offer related) stemming from a complete literature analysis and the
B2c eCommerce value in 45 countries over 9 years has been
developed. Having a positive correlation coefficient, GDP, mobile
penetration, Internet user penetration and credit card penetration
resulted as enabling drivers of the B2c eCommerce value across
countries, whereas, having a negative correlation coefficient, equal
distribution of income and the development of traditional retailing
network act as inhibiting factors.
Abstract: In this paper, the experimental design of using the
Taguchi method is employed to optimize the processing parameters in
the plasma arc surface hardening process. The processing parameters
evaluated are arc current, scanning velocity and carbon content of
steel. In addition, other significant effects such as the relation between
processing parameters are also investigated. An orthogonal array,
signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio and analysis of variance (ANOVA) are
employed to investigate the effects of these processing parameters.
Through this study, not only the hardened depth increased and surface
roughness improved, but also the parameters that significantly affect
the hardening performance are identified. Experimental results are
provided to verify the effectiveness of this approach.
Abstract: To help the client to select a competent agent
construction enterprise (ACE), this study aims to investigate the
selection standards by using the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process
(FAHP) and build an evaluation mathematical model with Grey
Relational Analysis (GRA). According to the outputs of literature
review, four orderly levels are established within the model, taking the
consideration of various agent construction models in practice. Then,
the process of applying FAHP and GRA is discussed in detailed.
Finally, through a case study, this paper illustrates how to apply these
methods in getting the weights of each standard and the final
assessment result.
Abstract: The paper makes part from a complex research project
on Romanian Grey Steppe, a unique breed in terms of biological and
cultural-historical importance, on the verge of extinction and which
has been included in a preservation programme of genetic resources
from Romania. The study of genetic polymorphism of protean
fractions, especially kappa-casein, and the genotype relations of
these lactoproteins with some quantitative and qualitative features of
milk yield represents a current theme and a novelty for this breed. In
the estimation of the genetic parameters we used R.E.M.L.
(Restricted Maximum Likelihood) method.
The main lactoprotein from milk, kappa - casein (K-cz),
characterized in the specialized literature as a feature having a high
degree of hereditary transmission, behaves as such in the nucleus under
study, a value also confirmed by the heritability coefficient (h2 = 0.57
%). We must mention the medium values for milk and fat quantity
(h2=0.26, 0.29 %) and the fat and protein percentage from milk
having a high hereditary influence h2 = 0.71 - 0.63 %.
Correlations between kappa-casein and the milk quantity are
negative and strong. Between kappa-casein and other qualitative
features of milk (fat content 0.58-0.67 % and protein content 0.77-
0.87%), there are positive and very strong correlations. At the same
time, between kappa-casein and β casein (β-cz), β lactoglobulin (β-
lg) respectively, correlations are positive having high values (0.37 –
0.45 %), indicating the same causes and determining factors for the
two groups of features.
