Abstract: This work presents an improved single fiber pull-out
test for fiber/matrix interface characterization. This test has been
used to study the Inter-Facial Shear Strength ‘IFSS’ of hemp fibers
reinforced polypropylene (PP). For this aim, the fiber diameter
has been carefully measured using a tomography inspired method.
The fiber section contour can then be approximated by a circle
or a polygon. The results show that the IFSS is overestimated if
the circular approximation is used. The Influence of the molding
temperature on the IFSS has also been studied. We find that a molding
temperature of 183◦C leads to better interfacial properties. Above or
below this temperature the interface strength is reduced.
Abstract: In this paper a new algorithm to generate random
simple polygons from a given set of points in a two dimensional
plane is designed. The proposed algorithm uses a genetic algorithm to
generate polygons with few vertices. A new merge algorithm is
presented which converts any two polygons into a simple polygon.
This algorithm at first changes two polygons into a polygonal chain
and then the polygonal chain is converted into a simple polygon. The
process of converting a polygonal chain into a simple polygon is
based on the removal of intersecting edges. The experiments results
show that the proposed algorithm has the ability to generate a great
number of different simple polygons and has better performance in
comparison to celebrated algorithms such as space partitioning and
steady growth.
Abstract: This paper presents the enhanced frame-based video coding scheme. The input source video to the enhanced frame-based video encoder consists of a rectangular-size video and shapes of arbitrarily-shaped objects on video frames. The rectangular frame texture is encoded by the conventional frame-based coding technique and the video object-s shape is encoded using the contour-based vertex coding. It is possible to achieve several useful content-based functionalities by utilizing the shape information in the bitstream at the cost of a very small overhead to the bitrate.
Abstract: We consider the methods of construction simple
polygons for a set S of n points and applying them for searching the
minimal area polygon. In this paper we propose the approximate
algorithm, which generates the simple polygonalizations of a fixed
set of points and finds the minimal area polygon, in O (n3) time and
using O(n2) memory.
Abstract: The objective is to split a simply connected polygon
into a set of convex quadrilaterals without inserting new
boundary nodes. The presented approach consists in repeatedly
removing quadrilaterals from the polygon. Theoretical results
pertaining to quadrangulation of simply connected polygons are
derived from the usual 2-ear theorem. It produces a quadrangulation
technique with O(n) number of quadrilaterals. The
theoretical methodology is supplemented by practical results
and CAD surface segmentation.
