Abstract: Urban population is rapidly increasing in Ilorin, (the capital of Kwara State of Nigeria) along with related increased water demand. The inadequacies of water supply services have forced the populace to depend on dug wells, boreholes, water tankers, street vendors etc. for their water needs. People spend hours daily carrying jerry can all around to collect and queue for water at the public water tap with high opportunity cost both in time and economic wastage. This situation motivated this study to assess the sustainability of an urban water supply services to unravel the factors undermining the effective delivery of services. Contingent Valuation Method was used to place value on water supply services using the Double Bounded Dichotomous Choice format for willingness to pay elicitation. A database was created with Microsoft Excel and Stata 12 Software to model and evaluate the variables that affect household willingness to pay. The results of the study reveal that about 92% of the total households surveyed were connected to the Government water supply out of which 87% reported that they were not satisfied with the existing services. The results furthered revealed that respondents are willing to pay ₦2500 monthly to enjoy sustainable water supply service delivery.
Abstract: For Romania, the fulfilment of the obligations
undertaken as a member state of the European Union in accordance
with the Treaty of Accession requires the effective implementation of
sustainable development principles and practices, this being the only
reasonable development option, which adequately draws in on the
economic, social and environment resources. Achieving this
objective is based on a profound analysis of the realities in the
Romanian economy, which will reflect the existent situation and the
action directions for the future. The paper presents an analysis of the
Romanian economic performances compared to the EU economy,
based on the sustainable value (SV) model. The analysis highlighted
the considerable gap between Romania and the EU regarding the
sustainable capitalization of resources, the provided information
being useful to justify strategic development decisions at a micro and
macro levels.
Abstract: this article proposed a methodology for computer
numerical control (CNC) machine scoring. The case study company
is a manufacturer of hard disk drive parts in Thailand. In this
company, sample of parts manufactured from CNC machine are
usually taken randomly for quality inspection. These inspection data
were used to make a decision to shut down the machine if it has
tendency to produce parts that are out of specification. Large amount
of data are produced in this process and data mining could be very
useful technique in analyzing them. In this research, data mining
techniques were used to construct a machine scoring model called
'machine priority assessment model (MPAM)'. This model helps to
ensure that the machine with higher risk of producing defective parts
be inspected before those with lower risk. If the defective prone
machine is identified sooner, defective part and rework could be
reduced hence improving the overall productivity. The results
showed that the proposed method can be successfully implemented
and approximately 351,000 baht of opportunity cost could have
saved in the case study company.
