Abstract: The digital control system of mobile robots (MR) control is considered. It is shown that sequential interpretation of control algorithm operators, unfolding in physical time, suggests the occurrence of time delays between inputting data from sensors and outputting data to actuators. Another destabilizing control factor is presence of backlash in the joints of an actuator with an executive unit. Complex model of control system, which takes into account the dynamics of the MR, the dynamics of the digital controller and backlash in actuators, is worked out. The digital controller model is divided into two parts: the first part describes the control law embedded in the controller in the form of a control program that realizes a polling procedure when organizing transactions to sensors and actuators. The second part of the model describes the time delays that occur in the Von Neumann-type controller when processing data. To estimate time intervals, the algorithm is represented in the form of an ergodic semi-Markov process. For an ergodic semi-Markov process of common form, a method is proposed for estimation a wandering time from one arbitrary state to another arbitrary state. Example shows how the backlash and time delays affect the quality characteristics of the MR control system functioning.
Abstract: Power generation effect, obtained by inserting a piezo- electric sheet in the backlash clearance of a circular arc helical gear, is evaluated. Such type of screw gear is preferred since, in comparison with the involute tooth profile, the circular arc profile leads to reduced stress-concentration effects, and improved life of the piezoelectric film. Firstly, geometry of the circular arc helical gear, and properties of the piezoelectric sheet are presented. Then, description of the test-rig, consisted of a right-hand thread gear meshing with a left-hand thread gear, and the voltage measurement procedure are given. After creating the tridimensional (3D) model of the meshing gears in SolidWorks, they are 3D-printed in acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) resin. Variation of the generated voltage versus time, during a meshing cycle of the circular arc helical gear, is measured for various values of the center distance. Then, the change of the maximal, minimal, and peak-to-peak voltage versus the center distance is illustrated. Optimal center distance of the gear, to achieve voltage maximization, is found and its significance is discussed. Such results prove that the contact pressure of the meshing gears can be measured, and also, the electrical power can be generated by employing the proposed technique.
Abstract: The wheelchair is the major means of transport for
physically disabled people. However, it cannot overcome architectural
barriers such as curbs and stairs. In this paper, the authors proposed
a method to avoid falling down of a wheeled inverted pendulum type
robotic wheelchair for climbing stairs. The problem of this system
is that the feedback gain of the wheels cannot be set high due to
modeling errors and gear backlash, which results in the movement
of wheels. Therefore, the wheels slide down the stairs or collide with
the side of the stairs, and finally the wheelchair falls down. To avoid
falling down, the authors proposed a slider control strategy based on
skyhook model in order to decrease the movement of wheels, and a
rotary link control strategy based on the staircase dimensions in order
to avoid collision or slide down. The effectiveness of the proposed
fall avoidance control strategy was validated by ODE simulations and
the prototype wheelchair.
Abstract: One of the main tasks in the development of textile machinery is to increase the rapidity of automatic looms, and consequently, their productivity. With increasing automatic loom speeds, the dynamic loads on their separate mechanisms and moving joints sharply increase. Dynamic research allows us to determine the weakest mechanisms of the automatic loom. The modern automatic loom consists of a large number of structurally different mechanisms. These are cam, lever, gear, friction and combined cyclic mechanisms. The modern automatic loom contains various mechatronic devices: A device for the automatic removal of faulty weft, electromechanical drive warp yarns, electronic controllers, servos, etc. In the paper, we consider the multibody dynamic model of the automatic loom on the software complex SimulationX. SimulationX is multidisciplinary software for modeling complex physical and technical facilities and systems. The multibody dynamic model of the automatic loom allows consideration of: The transition processes, backlash at the joints and nodes, the force of resistance and electric motor performance.
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to present the design and
instrumentation of a new benchmark multivariable nonlinear control
laboratory. The mathematical model of this system may be used to
test the applicability and performance of various nonlinear control
procedures. The system is a two degree-of-freedom robotic arm with
soft and hard (discontinuous) nonlinear terms. Two novel
mechanisms are designed to allow the implementation of adjustable
Coulomb friction and backlash.
Abstract: One of the main and responsible units of Sulzer
projectile loom is picking mechanism. It is specifically designed to
accelerate projectile to speed of 25 m / s. Initial speed projectile of
Sulzer projectile loom is independent of speed loom and determined
the potential energy torsion rod. This paper investigates the dynamics
picking mechanism of Sulzer projectile loom during its discharge. A
result of calculation model, we obtain the law of motion lever of
picking mechanism during its discharge. Construction of dynamic
model the picking mechanism of Sulzer projectile loom on software
complex SimulationX can make calculations for different thickness
of torsion rods taking into account the backlashes in the connections,
the dissipative forces and resistance forces
