Abstract: The convergence of heterogeneous wireless access technologies characterizes the 4G wireless networks. In such converged systems, the seamless and efficient handoff between
different access technologies (vertical handoff) is essential and remains a challenging problem. The heterogeneous co-existence of access technologies with largely different characteristics creates a decision problem of determining the “best" available network at
“best" time to reduce the unnecessary handoffs. This paper proposes a dynamic decision model to decide the “best" network at “best"
time moment to handoffs. The proposed dynamic decision model make the right vertical handoff decisions by determining the “best"
network at “best" time among available networks based on, dynamic
factors such as “Received Signal Strength(RSS)" of network and
“velocity" of mobile station simultaneously with static factors like Usage Expense, Link capacity(offered bandwidth) and power
consumption. This model not only meets the individual user needs but also improve the whole system performance by reducing the unnecessary handoffs.
Abstract: In this paper, to resolve the problem of existing
schemes, an alternative fast handover Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6)
scheme using the IEEE 802.21 Media Independent Handover (MIH)
function is proposed for heterogeneous wireless networks. The proposed
scheme comes to support fast handover for the mobile node
(MN) irrespective of the presence or absence of MIH functionality
as well as L3 mobility functionality, whereas the MN in existing
schemes has to implement MIH functionality. That is, the proposed
scheme does not require the MN to be involved in MIH related signaling
required for handover procedure. The base station (BS) with MIH
functionality performs handover on behalf of the MN. Therefore, the
proposed scheme can reduce burden and power consumption of MNs
with limited resource and battery power since MNs are not required
to be involved for the handover procedure. In addition, the proposed
scheme can reduce considerably traffic overhead over wireless links
between MN and BS since signaling messages are reduced.
Abstract: In this paper, we first consider the quality of service
problems in heterogeneous wireless networks for sending the video
data, which their problem of being real-time is pronounced. At last,
we present a method for ensuring the end-to-end quality of service at
application layer level for adaptable sending of the video data at
heterogeneous wireless networks. To do this, mechanism in different
layers has been used. We have used the stop mechanism, the
adaptation mechanism and the graceful degrade at the application
layer, the multi-level congestion feedback mechanism in the network
layer and connection cutting off decision mechanism in the link
layer. At the end, the presented method and the achieved
improvement is simulated and presented in the NS-2 software.
Abstract: The importance of our country-s communication
system is noticeable when a disaster occurs. The communication
system in our country includes wired and wireless telephone
networks, radio, satellite system and more increasingly internet. Even
though our communication system is most extensive and dependable,
extreme conditions can put a strain on them. Interoperability between
heterogeneous wireless networks can be used to provide efficient
communication for emergency first response. IEEE 802.21 specifies
Media Independent Handover (MIH) services to enhance the mobile
user experience by optimizing handovers between heterogeneous
access networks. This paper presents an algorithm to improve
congestion control in MIH framework. It is analytically shown that
by including time factor in network selection we can optimize
congestion in the network.
Abstract: In real-time networks a large number of application programs are relying on video data and heterogeneous data transmission techniques. The aim of this research is presenting a method for end-to-end vouch quality service in surface applicationlayer for sending video data in comparison form in wireless heterogeneous networks. This method tries to improve the video sending over the wireless heterogeneous networks with used techniques in surface layer, link and application. The offered method is showing a considerable improvement in quality observing by user. In addition to this, other specifications such as shortage of data load that had require to resending and limited the relation period length to require time for second data sending, help to be used the offered method in the wireless devices that have a limited energy. The presented method and the achieved improvement is simulated and presented in the NS-2 software.
