Abstract: To reflect the influence of after-treatment system retrofit and natural gas-fueled vehicle replace on exhaust emissions emitted by urban buses, a portable emission measurement system (PEMS) was employed herein to conduct real driving emission measurements. This study investigated the differences in particle number (PN), particle mass (PM), and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions from a China IV diesel bus retrofitted by catalyzed diesel particulate filter (CDPF), a China IV diesel bus, and a China V natural gas bus. The results show that both tested diesel buses possess markedly advantages in NOx emission control when compared to the lean-burn natural gas bus equipped without any NOx after-treatment system. As to PN and PM, only the DOC+CDPF retrofitting diesel bus exhibits enormous benefits on emission control related to the natural gas bus, especially the normal diesel bus. Meanwhile, the differences in PM and PN emissions between retrofitted and normal diesel buses generally increase with the increase in vehicle specific power (VSP). Furthermore, the differences in PM emissions, especially those in the higher VSP ranges, are more significant than those in PN. In addition, the maximum peak PN particle size (32 nm) of the retrofitted diesel bus was significantly lower than that of the normal diesel bus (100 nm). These phenomena indicate that the CDPF retrofitting can effectively reduce diesel bus exhaust particle emissions, especially those with large particle sizes.
Abstract: This paper will explore the influence of energy sector in Arab Republic of Egypt which has shared its responsibilities of many environmental challenges as the second largest economy in the Middle East (after Iran). Air and water pollution, desertification, inadequate disposal of solid waste and damage to coral reefs are serious problems that influence environmental management in Egypt. The intensive reliance of high population density and strong industrial growth are wearing Egypt's resources, and the rapidly-growing population has forced Egypt to breakdown agricultural land to residential and relevant use of commercial ingestion. The depletion effects of natural resources impose the government to apply innovation techniques in emission control and focus on sustainability. The cogeneration will be presented to control thermal losses and increase efficiency of energy power system.
Abstract: The implementation of Super-Ultra Low Emission
Vehicle standards requires more efficient exhaust gas purification. To
increase the efficiency of exhaust gas purification, an the adsorbent
capable of holding hydrocarbons up to 250-300 ОС should be
developed. The possibility to design such adsorbents by modification
of zeolites of mordenite type, ZSM-5 and NaY, using different
metals cations has been studied.
It has been shown that introducing Cr, Cs, Zn, Ni, Co, Li, Mn in
zeolites results in modification of the toluene TPD and toluene
sorption capacity.
5%LiZSM-5 zeolite exhibits the most attractive TPD curve, with
toluene desorption temperature ranging from 250 to 350ОС. The
sorption capacity of 5%Li-ZSM-5 is 0.4 mmol/g. NaY zeolite has the
highest sorption capacity, up to 2 mmol/g, and holds toluene up to
350ОС, but at 120ОС toluene desorption starts, which is not desirable,
since the adsorbent of cold start hydrocarbons should retain them
until 250-300ОС. Therefore 5%LiZSM-5 zeolite was found to be the
most promising to control the cold-start hydrocarbon emissions
among the samples studied.
Abstract: In this paper, an Interactive Compromise Approach
with Particle Swarm Optimization(ICA-PSO) is presented to solve the
Economic Emission Dispatch(EED) problem. The cost function and
emission function are modeled as the nonsmooth functions,
respectively. The bi-objective including both the minimization of cost
and emission is formulated in this paper. ICA-PSO is proposed to
solve EED problem for finding a better compromise solution. The
solution methodology can offer a global or near-global solution for
decision-making requirements. The effectiveness and efficiency of
ICA-PSO are demonstrated by a sample test system. Test results can
be shown that the proposed method provide a practical and flexible
framework for power dispatch.
