Abstract: We present a simple nonconforming approximation of the linear two–point boundary value problem which violates patch test requirements. Nevertheless the solutions, obtained from these type of approximations, converge to the exact solution.
Abstract: Linear two-point boundary value problems of order
two are solved using cubic trigonometric B-spline interpolation
method (CTBIM). Cubic trigonometric B-spline is a piecewise
function consisting of trigonometric equations. This method is tested
on some problems and the results are compared with cubic B-spline
interpolation method (CBIM) from the literature. CTBIM is found to
approximate the solution slightly more accurately than CBIM if the
problems are trigonometric.
Abstract: In this paper, we develop quartic nonpolynomial
spline method for the numerical solution of third order two point
boundary value problems. It is shown that the new method gives
approximations, which are better than those produced by other spline
methods. Convergence analysis of the method is discussed through
standard procedures. Two numerical examples are given to illustrate
the applicability and efficiency of the novel method.
Abstract: In this work, we present a reliable framework to solve boundary value problems with particular significance in solid mechanics. These problems are used as mathematical models in deformation of beams. The algorithm rests mainly on a relatively new technique, the Variational Iteration Method. Some examples are given to confirm the efficiency and the accuracy of the method.
Abstract: In this paper, by constructing a special set and utilizing fixed point index theory, we study the existence of solution for the boundary value problem of second-order singular differential equations in Banach space, which improved and generalize the result of related paper.
Abstract: Linear two-point boundary value problem of order two is solved using extended cubic B-spline interpolation method. There is one free parameters, λ, that control the tension of the solution curve. For some λ, this method produced better results than cubic B-spline interpolation method.

Abstract: In this paper, a numerical solution based on sinc
functions is used for finding the solution of boundary value problems
which arise from the problems of calculus of variations. This
approximation reduce the problems to an explicit system of algebraic
equations. Some numerical examples are also given to illustrate the
accuracy and applicability of the presented method.
Abstract: A kind of singularly perturbed boundary value problems is under consideration. In order to obtain its approximation, simple upwind difference discretization is applied. We use a moving mesh iterative algorithm based on equi-distributing of the arc-length function of the current computed piecewise linear solution. First, a maximum norm a posteriori error estimate on an arbitrary mesh is derived using a different method from the one carried out by Chen [Advances in Computational Mathematics, 24(1-4) (2006), 197-212.]. Then, basing on the properties of discrete Green-s function and the presented posteriori error estimate, we theoretically prove that the discrete solutions computed by the algorithm are first-order uniformly convergent with respect to the perturbation parameter ε.
Abstract: Recently, the findings on the MEG iterative scheme has demonstrated to accelerate the convergence rate in solving any system of linear equations generated by using approximation equations of boundary value problems. Based on the same scheme, the aim of this paper is to investigate the capability of a family of four-point block iterative methods with a weighted parameter, ω such as the 4 Point-EGSOR, 4 Point-EDGSOR, and 4 Point-MEGSOR in solving two-dimensional elliptic partial differential equations by using the second-order finite difference approximation. In fact, the formulation and implementation of three four-point block iterative methods are also presented. Finally, the experimental results show that the Four Point MEGSOR iterative scheme is superior as compared with the existing four point block schemes.
Abstract: In this work, we solve multipoint boundary value
problems where the boundary value conditions are equations using
the Newton-Broyden Shooting method (NBSM).The proposed
method is tested upon several problems from the literature and the
results are compared with the available exact solution. The
experiments are given to illustrate the efficiency and implementation
of the method.
Abstract: In this paper, the existence of multiple positive
solutions for a class of third-order three-point discrete boundary value
problem is studied by applying algebraic topology method.
Abstract: We provide a maximum norm analysis of a finite
element Schwarz alternating method for a nonlinear elliptic boundary
value problem of the form -Δu = f(u), on two overlapping sub
domains with non matching grids. We consider a domain which is
the union of two overlapping sub domains where each sub domain
has its own independently generated grid. The two meshes being
mutually independent on the overlap region, a triangle belonging to
one triangulation does not necessarily belong to the other one. Under
a Lipschitz assumption on the nonlinearity, we establish, on each sub
domain, an optimal L∞ error estimate between the discrete Schwarz
sequence and the exact solution of the boundary value problem.
Abstract: In this paper , by using fixed point theorem , upper and lower solution-s method and monotone iterative technique , we prove the existence of maximum and minimum solutions of differential equations with delay , which improved and generalize the result of related paper.
Abstract: In this paper, a numerical solution based on nonpolynomial
cubic spline functions is used for finding the solution of
boundary value problems which arise from the problems of calculus

system of algebraic equations. Some numerical examples are also
given to illustrate the accuracy and applicability of the presented
method.
Abstract: In this article an isotropic linear elastic half-space with
a cylindrical cavity of finite length is considered to be under the
effect of a ring shape time-harmonic torsion force applied at an
arbitrary depth on the surface of the cavity. The equation of
equilibrium has been written in a cylindrical coordinate system. By
means of Fourier cosine integral transform, the non-zero
displacement component is obtained in the transformed domain. With
the aid of the inversion theorem of the Fourier cosine integral
transform, the displacement is obtained in the real domain. With the
aid of boundary conditions, the involved boundary value problem for
the fundamental solution is reduced to a generalized Cauchy singular
integral equation. Integral representation of the stress and
displacement are obtained, and it is shown that their degenerated
form to the static problem coincides with existing solutions in the
literature.
Abstract: This paper present the implementation of a new ordering strategy on Successive Overrelaxation scheme on two dimensional boundary value problems. The strategy involve two directions alternatingly; from top and bottom of the solution domain. The method shows to significantly reduce the iteration number to converge. Four numerical experiments were carried out to examine the performance of the new strategy.
Abstract: The optimal control problem of a linear distributed
parameter system is studied via shifted Legendre polynomials (SLPs)
in this paper. The partial differential equation, representing the
linear distributed parameter system, is decomposed into an n - set
of ordinary differential equations, the optimal control problem is
transformed into a two-point boundary value problem, and the twopoint
boundary value problem is reduced to an initial value problem
by using SLPs. A recursive algorithm for evaluating optimal control
input and output trajectory is developed. The proposed algorithm is
computationally simple. An illustrative example is given to show the
simplicity of the proposed approach.
Abstract: The main goal of this paper is to show a possibility, how to solve numerically elliptic boundary value problems arising in 2D linear elasticity by using the fictitious domain method (FDM) and the Total-FETI domain decomposition method. We briefly mention the theoretical background of these methods and demonstrate their performance on a benchmark.
Abstract: In this paper, we present a framework to determine Haar solutions of Bratu-type equations that are widely applicable in fuel ignition of the combustion theory and heat transfer. The method is proposed by applying Haar series for the highest derivatives and integrate the series. Several examples are given to confirm the efficiency and the accuracy of the proposed algorithm. The results show that the proposed way is quite reasonable when compared to exact solution.
