Abstract: We propose a method for discrimination and
classification of ovarian with benign, malignant and normal tissue
using independent component analysis and neural networks. The
method was tested for a proteomic patters set from A database, and
radial basis functions neural networks. The best performance was
obtained with probabilistic neural networks, resulting I 99% success
rate, with 98% of specificity e 100% of sensitivity.
Abstract: Microarrays technique allows the simultaneous measurements of the expression levels of thousands of mRNAs. By mining this data one can identify the dynamics of the gene expression time series. By recourse of principal component analysis, we uncover the circadian rhythmic patterns underlying the gene expression profiles from Cyanobacterium Synechocystis. We applied PCA to reduce the dimensionality of the data set. Examination of the components also provides insight into the underlying factors measured in the experiments. Our results suggest that all rhythmic content of data can be reduced to three main components.
Abstract: One of the mayor problems of programming a cruise
circuit is to decide which destinations to include and which don-t.
Thus a decision problem emerges, that might be solved using a linear
and goal programming approach. The problem becomes more
complex if several boats in the fleet must be programmed in a limited
schedule, trying their capacity matches best a seasonal demand and
also attempting to minimize the operation costs. Moreover, the
programmer of the company should consider the time of the
passenger as a limited asset, and would like to maximize its usage.
The aim of this work is to design a method in which, using linear and
goal programming techniques, a model to design circuits for the
cruise company decision maker can achieve an optimal solution
within the fleet schedule.
Abstract: We study the problem of decision making with Dempster-Shafer belief structure. We analyze the previous work developed by Yager about using the ordered weighted averaging (OWA) operator in the aggregation of the Dempster-Shafer decision process. We discuss the possibility of aggregating with an ascending order in the OWA operator for the cases where the smallest value is the best result. We suggest the introduction of the ordered weighted geometric (OWG) operator in the Dempster-Shafer framework. In this case, we also discuss the possibility of aggregating with an ascending order and we find that it is completely necessary as the OWG operator cannot aggregate negative numbers. Finally, we give an illustrative example where we can see the different results obtained by using the OWA, the Ascending OWA (AOWA), the OWG and the Ascending OWG (AOWG) operator.
Abstract: In this paper, we define permutable and mutually permutable fuzzy subgroups of a group. Then we study their relation with permutable and mutually permutable subgroups of a group. Also we study some properties of fuzzy quasinormal subgroup. We define superfuzzy subset of a fuzzy subset and we study some properties of superfuzzy subset of a fuzzy subset.
Abstract: This work aims to reduce the read power consumption
as well as to enhance the stability of the SRAM cell during the read
operation. A new 10-transisor cell is proposed with a new read
scheme to minimize the power consumption within the memory core.
It has separate read and write ports, thus cell read stability is
significantly improved. A 16Kb SRAM macro operating at 1V
supply voltage is demonstrated in 65 nm CMOS process. Its read
power consumption is reduced to 24% of the conventional design.
The new cell also has lower leakage current due to its special bit-line
pre-charge scheme. As a result, it is suitable for low-power mobile
applications where power supply is restricted by the battery.
Abstract: Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) has been
one on the most vivid research areas in the field of computer vision
over the last 10 years. Many programs and tools have been
developed to formulate and execute queries based on the visual or
audio content and to help browsing large multimedia repositories.
Still, no general breakthrough has been achieved with respect to
large varied databases with documents of difering sorts and with
varying characteristics. Answers to many questions with respect to
speed, semantic descriptors or objective image interpretations are
still unanswered. In the medical field, images, and especially
digital images, are produced in ever increasing quantities and used
for diagnostics and therapy. In several articles, content based
access to medical images for supporting clinical decision making
has been proposed that would ease the management of clinical data
and scenarios for the integration of content-based access methods
into Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) have
been created. This paper gives an overview of soft computing
techniques. New research directions are being defined that can
prove to be useful. Still, there are very few systems that seem to be
used in clinical practice. It needs to be stated as well that the goal
is not, in general, to replace text based retrieval methods as they
exist at the moment.
Abstract: In synchronized games players make their moves simultaneously
rather than alternately. Synchronized Quadromineering is
the synchronized version of Quadromineering, a variants of a classical
two-player combinatorial game called Domineering. Experimental
results for small m × n boards (with m + n < 15) and some
theoretical results for general k × n boards (with k = 4, 5, 6) are
presented. Moreover, some Synchronized Quadromineering variants
are also investigated.
Abstract: Wireless sensor networks is an emerging technology
that serves as environment monitors in many applications. Yet
these miniatures suffer from constrained resources in terms of
computation capabilities and energy resources. Limited energy
resource in these nodes demands an efficient consumption of that
resource either by developing the modules itself or by providing
an efficient communication protocols. This paper presents a
comprehensive summarization and a comparative study of the
available MAC protocols proposed for Wireless Sensor Networks
showing their capabilities and efficiency in terms of energy
consumption and delay guarantee.
Abstract: After presenting the theory of calendar function of
Iran-s cross-vaults especially “Niasar" cross-vault in recent years,
there has been lots of doubts and uncertainty about this theory by
astrologists and archaeologists. According to this theory “Niasar
cross-vault and other cross-vaults of Iran has calendar function and
are constructed in a way that sunrise and sunset can be seen from one
of its openings in the beginning and middle of each season of year".
But, mentioning historical documentaries we conclude here that the
theory of calendar function of Iran-s cross-vaults does not have any
strong basis and individual cross-vaults had only religious function in
Iran.
Abstract: The environmental impact caused by industries is an issue that, in the last 20 years, has become very important in terms of society, economics and politics in Colombia. Particularly, the tannery process is extremely polluting because of uneffective treatments and regulations given to the dumping process and atmospheric emissions. Considering that, this investigation is intended to propose a management model based on the integration of Lean Supply Chain, Green Supply Chain, Cleaner Production and ISO 14001-2004, that prioritizes the strategic components of the organizations. As a result, a management model will be obtained and it will provide a strategic perspective through a systemic approach to the tanning process. This will be achieved through the use of Multicriteria Decision tools, along with Quality Function Deployment and Fuzzy Logic. The strategic approach that embraces the management model using the alignment of Lean Supply Chain, Green Supply Chain, Cleaner Production and ISO 14001-2004, is an integrated perspective that allows a gradual frame of the tactical and operative elements through the correct setting of the information flow, improving the decision making process. In that way, Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) could improve their productivity, competitiveness and as an added value, the minimization of the environmental impact. This improvement is expected to be controlled through a Dashboard that helps the Organization measure its performance along the implementation of the model in its productive process.
Abstract: From the importance of the conference and its
constructive role in the studies discussion, there must be a strong
organization that allows the exploitation of the discussions in opening
new horizons. The vast amount of information scattered across the
web, make it difficult to find experts, who can play a prominent role
in organizing conferences. In this paper we proposed a new approach
of extracting researchers- information from various Web resources
and correlating them in order to confirm their correctness. As a
validator of this approach, we propose a service that will be useful to
set up a conference. Its main objective is to find appropriate experts,
as well as the social events for a conference. For this application we
us Semantic Web technologies like RDF and ontology to represent
the confirmed information, which are linked to another ontology
(skills ontology) that are used to present and compute the expertise.
Abstract: In this article, we propose a methodology for the
characterization of the suspended matter along Algiers-s bay. An
approach by multi layers perceptron (MLP) with training by back
propagation of the gradient optimized by the algorithm of Levenberg
Marquardt (LM) is used. The accent was put on the choice of the
components of the base of training where a comparative study made
for four methods: Random and three alternatives of classification by
K-Means. The samples are taken from suspended matter image,
obtained by analytical model based on polynomial regression by
taking account of in situ measurements. The mask which selects the
zone of interest (water in our case) was carried out by using a multi
spectral classification by ISODATA algorithm. To improve the
result of classification, a cleaning of this mask was carried out using
the tools of mathematical morphology. The results of this study
presented in the forms of curves, tables and of images show the
founded good of our methodology.
Abstract: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a very toxic gas that is produced in very large quantities in the oil and gas industry. It cannot be flared to the atmosphere and Claus process based gas plants are used to recover the sulfur and convert the hydrogen to water. In this paper, we present optical characterization of an atmospheric pressure microwave plasma torch for H2S dissociation into hydrogen and sulfur. The torch is operated at 2.45 GHz with power up to 2 kW. Three different gases can simultaneously be injected in the plasma torch. Visual imaging and optical emission spectroscopy are used to characterize the plasma for varying gas flow rates and microwave power. The plasma length, emission spectra and temperature are presented. The obtained experimental results validate our earlier published simulation results of plasma torch.
Abstract: Attempt was made to improve certain characteristics of bio-oil derived from palm kernel pyrolysis by blending it with diesel fuel and alcohols. Two types of alcohol, ethanol or butanol, was used as cosolvent to stabilize the phase of ternary systems. Phase behaviors and basic fuel properties of palm kernel bio-oildiesel- alcohol systems were investigated in this study. Alcohol types showed a significant influence on the phase characteristics with palm kernel bio-oil-diesel-butanol system giving larger soluble area than that of palm kernel bio-oil-diesel-ethanol system. For fuel properties, blended fuels showed superior properties including lower values of density (~860 kg/m3 at 25°C), viscosity (~4.12 mm2/s at 40°C), carbon residue (1.02-2.53 wt%), ash (0.018-0.034 wt%) and pour point (
Abstract: The double difference sequence space I2 (M, of fuzzy numbers for both 1 < p < oo and 0 < p < 1, is introduced. Some general properties of this sequence space are studied. Some inclusion relations involving this sequence space are obtained.
Abstract: Cast metal inlays can be used on molars requiring a
class II restoration instead amalgam and offer a durable alternative.
Because it is known that class II inlays may increase the
susceptibility to fracture, it is important to ensure optimal
performance in selection of the adequate preparation design to reduce
stresses in teeth structures and also in the restorations. The aim of the
study was to investigate the influence of preparation design on stress
distribution in molars with different class II preparations and in cast
metal inlays. The first step of the study was to achieve 3D models in
order to analyze teeth and cast metal class II inlays. The geometry of
the intact tooth was obtained by 3D scanning using a manufactured
device. With a NURBS modeling program the preparations and the
appropriately inlays were designed. 3D models of first upper molars
of the same shape and size were created. Inlay cavities designs were
created using literature data. The geometrical model was exported
and the mesh structure of the solid 3D model was created for
structural simulations. Stresses were located around the occlusal
contact areas. For the studied cases, the stress values were not
significant influenced by the taper of the preparation. it was
demonstrated stresses are higher in the cast metal restorations and
therefore the strength of the teeth is not affected.
Abstract: The two agro-ecological zones became the focus of
the study because of violent nature of the incessant conflict in the
zones. The available register of farmers association was the sampling
frame work where ten percent (61) farmers per state were randomly
sampled. Data were collected and analysed using z-test. The research
findings revealed tree crops and grains production enterprises ranked
higher in Osun (rain fed zones) and Taraba states (savannah zones)
respectively. Osun state entrepreneur felt the effect of the conflict on
their enterprises more than Tarba state. The reasons adduced for
severity of the conflict on enterprises are majority (77.0%) migrated
and (75.5%) of them were not allowed to enter their farms during and
when conflict deescalated unlike situation in Taraba state. The
different in enterprises production level between the two agroecological
zone was statistically significant at p
Abstract: Pleurotus ostreatus is a common edible mushroom with a number of properties that can help to solve the nutritional and economical problems of people in Chiapas, Mexico. The objective of this project was to produce the mushroom under a sustainable management in which only regional products were allowed as a way to promote the cultivation and consumption of Pleurotus ostreatus; 5 different substrates were tested as well as 2 sanitation methods. The obtained results showed that the highest yields were obtained using corn husk and a thermal sanitation method. Pests and diseases were not a problem during the project but they appeared more in the substrates sanitized with calcium hydroxide.
Abstract: Paddy being cultivated since about 10,000 years B.C in Ganga Valley in India, its production reached up to 99 million tons in the year 2012. BGA are of much ecological importance for maintaining the soil fertility and reclaiming the alkalinity. In present investigation attempts were made to identify the local cyanobacterial genera from the paddy fields, BGA application for green farming enabling the paddy to utilize more amount of nitrogen released and to examine its impact along with Urea upon growth and yield responses of the Paddy crop. It was observed that combined treatment of BGA with Urea proved better response in almost all growth parameters and yield attributes except number of tillers/ Plant and grains/ panicle as compared to application of either Urea or BGA alone. The Paddy growers should be encouraged to adopt BGA along with Urea as source of Nitrogen for Paddy cultivation.
