Abstract: Selected Mapping (SLM) is a PAPR reduction technique, which converts the OFDM signal into several independent signals by multiplication with the phase sequence set and transmits one of the signals with lowest PAPR. But it requires the index of the selected signal i.e. side information (SI) to be transmitted with each OFDM symbol. The PAPR reduction capability of the SLM scheme depends on the selection of phase sequence set. In this paper, we have proposed a new phase sequence set generation scheme based on M-ary chaotic sequence and a mapping scheme to map quaternary data to concentric circle constellation (CCC) is used. It is shown that this method does not require SI and provides better SER performance with good PAPR reduction capability as compared to existing SLMOFDM methods.
Abstract: Alzheimer is known as the loss of mental functions
such as thinking, memory, and reasoning that is severe enough to
interfere with a person's daily functioning. The appearance of
Alzheimer Disease symptoms (AD) are resulted based on which part
of the brain has a variety of infection or damage. In this case, the
MRI is the best biomedical instrumentation can be ever used to
discover the AD existence. Therefore, this paper proposed a fusion
method to distinguish between the normal and (AD) MRIs. In this
combined method around 27 MRIs collected from Jordanian
Hospitals are analyzed based on the use of Low pass -morphological
filters to get the extracted statistical outputs through intensity
histogram to be employed by the descriptive box plot. Also, the
artificial neural network (ANN) is applied to test the performance of
this approach. Finally, the obtained result of t-test with confidence
accuracy (95%) has compared with classification accuracy of ANN
(100 %). The robust of the developed method can be considered
effectively to diagnose and determine the type of AD image.
Abstract: In this study, we used shape memory alloys as
actuators to build a biomorphic robot which can imitate the motion of
an earthworm. The robot can be used to explore in a narrow space.
Therefore we chose shape memory alloys as actuators. Because of the
small deformation of a wire shape memory alloy, spiral shape memory
alloys are selected and installed both on the X axis and Y axis (each
axis having two shape memory alloys) to enable the biomorphic robot
to do reciprocating motion. By the mechanism we designed, the robot
can increase the distance as it moves in a duty cycle. In addition, two
shape memory alloys are added to the robot head for controlling right
and left turns. By sending pulses through the I/O card from the
controller, the signals are then amplified by a driver to heat the shape
memory alloys in order to make the SMA shrink to pull the mechanism
to move.
Abstract: Biologically human brain processes information in both unimodal and multimodal approaches. In fact, information is progressively abstracted and seamlessly fused. Subsequently, the fusion of multimodal inputs allows a holistic understanding of a problem. The proliferation of technology has exponentially produced various sources of data, which could be likened to being the state of multimodality in human brain. Therefore, this is an inspiration to develop a methodology for exploring multimodal data and further identifying multi-view patterns. Specifically, we propose a brain inspired conceptual model that allows exploration and identification of patterns at different levels of granularity, different types of hierarchies and different types of modalities. A structurally adaptive neural network is deployed to implement the proposed model. Furthermore, the acquisition of multi-view patterns with the proposed model is demonstrated and discussed with some experimental results.
Abstract: Neural processors have shown good results for
detecting a certain character in a given input matrix. In this paper, a
new idead to speed up the operation of neural processors for character
detection is presented. Such processors are designed based on cross
correlation in the frequency domain between the input matrix and the
weights of neural networks. This approach is developed to reduce the
computation steps required by these faster neural networks for the
searching process. The principle of divide and conquer strategy is
applied through image decomposition. Each image is divided into
small in size sub-images and then each one is tested separately by
using a single faster neural processor. Furthermore, faster character
detection is obtained by using parallel processing techniques to test the
resulting sub-images at the same time using the same number of faster
neural networks. In contrast to using only faster neural processors, the
speed up ratio is increased with the size of the input image when using
faster neural processors and image decomposition. Moreover, the
problem of local subimage normalization in the frequency domain is
solved. The effect of image normalization on the speed up ratio of
character detection is discussed. Simulation results show that local
subimage normalization through weight normalization is faster than
subimage normalization in the spatial domain. The overall speed up
ratio of the detection process is increased as the normalization of
weights is done off line.
Abstract: Today Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is known as one of the most important tools for decision makers in the construction of civil and industrial projects towards sustainable development. In the past, projects were evaluated based on cost and benefit analysis regardless of the physical and biological environmental effects and its socio-economical impacts. According to the Department of Environment (DOE) of Iran's regulations, the construction of hydroelectric dams is an activity that requires an EIA report. In this paper the environmental impact assessment of the Gotvand hydro-electrical dam has been evaluated in the three environment elements, biological, Physical-chemical and cultural units. This dam is one of the largest dams in Iran with a volume of 4500 MCM and is going to be the last dam on the Karoon River in the south of Iran. In this paper the ICOLD (International Commission on Large Dams) technique was employed for the environmental impact assessment of the dam. The research includes all socio economical and environmental effects of the dam during the construction and operation of the hydro electric dam and Environmental management, monitoring and mitigation of negative impacts were analyzed. In this project the results led to using some techniques to protect the destructive impacts on biological aspects beside the effective long time period impacts on the biological aspects. The impacts on physical aspects are temporary and negative commonly that could be restored and rehabilitated in natural process in the long time in operation period.
Abstract: Studying literature theme in the fields of tourism and
sustainable development and its importance in today world and their
criteria in architecture, here in this article we will also study the area
where the selected site is located; beside the Aab-Ask Village located
in Larijan region in Mazandaran province on the way to Haraz – one
of the tourism routes of Iran. After these studies by analyzing the
site, its strong potentials – such as mineral water springs (hot
springs), geothermal, landscapes and ideal climate - as a tourist
attraction spot in the region, and considering sustainable
development criteria – with regard to limits and available facilities –
a plan was offered that could change the region to provide the needs
of local people and in addition change it to a place where tourism
services is offered to the visitors and make it an acceptable sample of
stable building in Iran. Finally the reason to make design for this
complex is recovery of natural and historical values of Aab-Ask area
regarding development and sustainable architecture criteria in the
form of a functional sample which can be a suitable place to fulfill
this goal for having lots of strong points in attracting cultural and
sustainable tourist.
Abstract: Magneto-rheological (MR) fluid damper is a semiactive
control device that has recently received more attention by the
vibration control community. But inherent hysteretic and highly
nonlinear dynamics of MR fluid damper is one of the challenging
aspects to employ its unique characteristics. The combination of
artificial neural network (ANN) and fuzzy logic system (FLS) have
been used to imitate more precisely the behavior of this device.
However, the derivative-based nature of adaptive networks causes
some deficiencies. Therefore, in this paper, a novel approach that
employ genetic algorithm, as a free-derivative algorithm, to enhance
the capability of fuzzy systems, is proposed. The proposed method
used to model MR damper. The results will be compared with
adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) model, which is one
of the well-known approaches in soft computing framework, and two
best parametric models of MR damper. Data are generated based on
benchmark program by applying a number of famous earthquake
records.
Abstract: This paper discusses about an intelligent system to be
installed in ambulances providing professional support to the paramedics on board. A video conferencing device over mobile 4G services enables specialists virtually attending the patient being transferred to the hospital. The data centre holds detailed databases
on the patients past medical history and hospitals with the specialists. It also hosts various software modules that compute the shortest traffic –less path to the closest hospital with the required facilities, on inputting the symptoms of the patient, on a real time basis.
Abstract: Clusters of microcalcifications in mammograms are an
important sign of breast cancer. This paper presents a complete
Computer Aided Detection (CAD) scheme for automatic detection of
clustered microcalcifications in digital mammograms. The proposed
system, MammoScan μCaD, consists of three main steps. Firstly
all potential microcalcifications are detected using a a method for
feature extraction, VarMet, and adaptive thresholding. This will also
give a number of false detections. The goal of the second step,
Classifier level 1, is to remove everything but microcalcifications.
The last step, Classifier level 2, uses learned dictionaries and sparse
representations as a texture classification technique to distinguish
single, benign microcalcifications from clustered microcalcifications,
in addition to remove some remaining false detections. The system
is trained and tested on true digital data from Stavanger University
Hospital, and the results are evaluated by radiologists. The overall
results are promising, with a sensitivity > 90 % and a low false
detection rate (approx 1 unwanted pr. image, or 0.3 false pr. image).
Abstract: The dynamics of a predator-prey model with continuous
threshold policy harvesting functions on the prey is studied. Theoretical
and numerical methods are used to investigate boundedness
of solutions, existence of bionomic equilibria, and the stability properties
of coexistence equilibrium points and periodic orbits. Several
bifurcations as well as some heteroclinic orbits are computed.
Abstract: To motivate users to adopt and use information
systems effectively, the nature of motivation should be carefully
investigated. People are usually motivated within ongoing processes
which include a chain of states such as perception, stimulation,
motivation, actions and reactions and finally, satisfaction. This study
assumes that the relevant motivation processes should be executed in
a proper and continuous manner to be able to persistently motivate
and re-motivate people in organizational settings and towards
information systems. On this basis, the study attempts to propose
possible relationships between this process-nature view of
motivation in terms of the common chain of states and the nearly
unique properties of information systems as is perceived by users in
the sense of a knowledgeable and authoritative entity. In the
conclusion section, some guidelines for practitioners are suggested to
ease their tasks for motivating people to adopt and use information
systems.
Abstract: Our adaptive multimodal system aims at correctly
presenting a mathematical expression to visually impaired users.
Given an interaction context (i.e. combination of user, environment
and system resources) as well as the complexity of the expression
itself and the user-s preferences, the suitability scores of different
presentation format are calculated. Unlike the current state-of-the art
solutions, our approach takes into account the user-s situation and not
imposes a solution that is not suitable to his context and capacity. In
this wok, we present our methodology for calculating the
mathematical expression complexity and the results of our
experiment. Finally, this paper discusses the concepts and principles
applied on our system as well as their validation through cases
studies. This work is our original contribution to an ongoing research
to make informatics more accessible to handicapped users.
Abstract: This paper addresses the controller synthesis problem of discrete-time switched positive systems with bounded time-varying delays. Based on the switched copositive Lyapunov function approach, some necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of state-feedback controller are presented as a set of linear programming and linear matrix inequality problems, hence easy to be verified. Another advantage is that the state-feedback law is independent on time-varying delays and initial conditions. A numerical example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the developed controller.
Abstract: The study of morphometric and histologic evolutions
of the Bursa of Fabricus during 27 weeks of post-hashing age,
realized on 88 subjects of broiler chicken they permitted to collect
information about the morpho-histological aspect according to their
post-hashing age; showed the size and the weight of the Bursa of
Fabricius which reach their maximum between the 10th and the 11th
week of age and the physiologic involution phenomena. These
variations are in close relationship to the sexual maturity. These
results can be used in the diagnosis of viral disease such as the
Gumboro disease, Marek disease.
Abstract: Hydrocyclones flow field study is conducted by performing a parametric study. Effect of cone angle on deoiling hydrocyclones flow behaviour is studied in this research. Flow field of hydrocyclone is obtained by three-dimensional simulations with OpenFOAM code. Because of anisotropic behaviour of flow inside hydrocyclones LES is a suitable method to predict the flow field since it resolves large scales and model isotropic small scales. Large eddy simulation is used to predict the flow behavior of three different cone angles. Differences in tangential velocity and pressure distribution are reported in some figures.
Abstract: The control of oxygen flow rate during growth of
titanium dioxide by mass flow controller in DC plasma sputtering
growth system is studied. The impedance of TiO2 films for inductance
effect is influenced by annealing time and oxygen flow rate. As
annealing time is increased, the inductance of TiO2 film is the more.
The growth condition of optimum and maximum inductance for TiO2
film to serve as sensing device are oxygen flow rate of 15 sccm and
large annealing time. The large inductance of TiO2 film will be
adopted to fabricate the biosensor to obtain the high sensitivity of
sensing in biology.
Abstract: The H.264/AVC video coding standard contains a number of advanced features. Ones of the new features introduced in this standard is the multiple intramode prediction. Its function exploits directional spatial correlation with adjacent block for intra prediction. With this new features, intra coding of H.264/AVC offers a considerably higher improvement in coding efficiency compared to other compression standard, but computational complexity is increased significantly when brut force rate distortion optimization (RDO) algorithm is used. In this paper, we propose a new fast intra prediction mode decision method for the complexity reduction of H.264 video coding. for luma intra prediction, the proposed method consists of two step: in the first step, we make the RDO for four mode of intra 4x4 block, based the distribution of RDO cost of those modes and the idea that the fort correlation with adjacent mode, we select the best mode of intra 4x4 block. In the second step, we based the fact that the dominating direction of a smaller block is similar to that of bigger block, the candidate modes of 8x8 blocks and 16x16 macroblocks are determined. So, in case of chroma intra prediction, the variance of the chroma pixel values is much smaller than that of luma ones, since our proposed uses only the mode DC. Experimental results show that the new fast intra mode decision algorithm increases the speed of intra coding significantly with negligible loss of PSNR.
Abstract: In this paper, an automated system is presented for
identification and separation of plastic resins based on near infrared
(NIR) reflectance spectroscopy. For identification and separation
among resins, a "Two-Filter" identification method is proposed that
is capable to distinguish among polyethylene terephthalate (PET),
high density polyethylene (HDPE), polyvinyl chloride (PVC),
polypropylene (PP) and polystyrene (PS). Through surveying effects
of parameters such as surface contamination, sample thickness, label
and cap existence, it was obvious that the "Two-Filter" method has a
high efficiency in identification of resins. It is shown that accurate
identification and separation of five major resins can be obtained
through calculating the relative reflectance at two wavelengths in the
NIR region.
Abstract: since in natural accidents, facilities that relate to this vita element are underground so, it is difficult to find quickly some right, exact and definite information about water utilities. There fore, this article has done operationally in Boukan city in Western Azarbaijan of Iran and it tries to represent operation and capabilities of Geographical Information system (GIS) in urban water management at the time of natural accidents. Structure of this article is that firstly it has established a comprehensive data base related to water utilities by collecting, entering, saving and data management, then by modeling water utilities we have practically considered its operational aspects related to water utility problems in urban regions.
