Abstract: This research presents a system for post processing of
data that takes mined flat rules as input and discovers crisp as well as
fuzzy hierarchical structures using Learning Classifier System
approach. Learning Classifier System (LCS) is basically a machine
learning technique that combines evolutionary computing,
reinforcement learning, supervised or unsupervised learning and
heuristics to produce adaptive systems. A LCS learns by interacting
with an environment from which it receives feedback in the form of
numerical reward. Learning is achieved by trying to maximize the
amount of reward received. Crisp description for a concept usually
cannot represent human knowledge completely and practically. In the
proposed Learning Classifier System initial population is constructed
as a random collection of HPR–trees (related production rules) and
crisp / fuzzy hierarchies are evolved. A fuzzy subsumption relation is
suggested for the proposed system and based on Subsumption Matrix
(SM), a suitable fitness function is proposed. Suitable genetic
operators are proposed for the chosen chromosome representation
method. For implementing reinforcement a suitable reward and
punishment scheme is also proposed. Experimental results are
presented to demonstrate the performance of the proposed system.
Abstract: Let G be a Hamiltonian graph. A factor F of G is called
a Hamiltonian factor if F contains a Hamiltonian cycle. In this paper,
two sufficient conditions are given, which are two neighborhood
conditions for a Hamiltonian graph G to have a Hamiltonian factor.
Abstract: The counter flow solar air heaters, with four
transverse fins and wire mesh layers are constructed and investigated
experimentally for thermal efficiency at a geographic location of
Cyprus in the city of Famagusta. The absorber plate is replaced by
sixteen steel wire mesh layers, 0.18 x 0.18cm in cross section
opening and a 0.02cm in diameter. The wire mesh layers arranged in
three groups, first and second include 6 layers, while the third include
4 layers. All layers fixed in the duct parallel to the glazing and each
group separated from the others by wood frame thickness of 0.5cm to
reduce the pressure drop. The transverse fins arranged in a way to
force the air to flow through the bed like eight letter path with flow
depth 3cm. The proposed design has increased the heat transfer rate,
but on other hand causes a high pressure drop. The obtained results
show that, for air mass flow rate range between 0.011-0.036kg/s, the
thermal efficiency increases with increasing the air mass flow. The
maximum efficiency obtained is 65.6% for the mass flow rate of
0.036kg/s. Moreover, the temperature difference between the outlet
flow and the ambient temperature, ΔT, reduces as the air mass flow
rate increase. The maximum difference between the outlet and
ambient temperature obtained was 43°C for double pass for minimum
mass flow rate of 0.011kg/s. Comparison with a conventional solar
air heater collector shows a significantly development in the thermal
efficiency.
Abstract: The fault current levels through the electric devices
have a significant impact on failure probability. New fault current
results in exceeding the rated capacity of circuit breaker and switching
equipments and changes operation characteristic of overcurrent relay.
In order to solve these problems, SFCL (Superconducting Fault
Current Limiter) has rising as one of new alternatives so as to improve
these problems. A fault current reduction differs depending on
installed location. Therefore, a location of SFCL is very important.
Also, SFCL decreases the fault current, and it prevents surrounding
protective devices to be exposed to fault current, it then will bring a
change of reliability. In this paper, we propose method which
determines the optimal location when SFCL is installed in power
system. In addition, the reliability about the power system which
SFCL was installed is evaluated. The efficiency and effectiveness of
this method are also shown by numerical examples and the reliability
indices are evaluated in this study at each load points. These results
show a reliability change of a system when SFCL was installed.
Abstract: The changing economic climate has made global
manufacturing a growing reality over the last decade, forcing
companies from east and west and all over the world to
collaborate beyond geographic boundaries in the design,
manufacture and assemble of products. The ISO10303 and
ISO14649 Standards (STEP and STEP-NC) have been
developed to introduce interoperability into manufacturing
enterprises so as to meet the challenge of responding to
production on demand. This paper describes and illustrates a
STEP compliant CAD/CAPP/CAM System for the manufacture
of rotational parts on CNC turning centers. The information
models to support the proposed system together with the data
models defined in the ISO14649 standard used to create the NC
programs are also described. A structured view of a STEP
compliant CAD/CAPP/CAM system framework supporting the
next generation of intelligent CNC controllers for turn/mill
component manufacture is provided. Finally a proposed
computational environment for a STEP-NC compliant system
for turning operations (SCSTO) is described. SCSTO is the
experimental part of the research supported by the specification
of information models and constructed using a structured
methodology and object-oriented methods. SCSTO was
developed to generate a Part 21 file based on machining
features to support the interactive generation of process plans
utilizing feature extraction. A case study component has been
developed to prove the concept for using the milling and turning
parts of ISO14649 to provide a turn-mill CAD/CAPP/CAM
environment.
Abstract: A DC servomotor position control system using a Fuzzy Logic Sliding mode Model Following Control or FLSMFC approach is presented. The FLSMFC structure consists of an integrator and variable structure system. The integral control is introduced into it in order to eliminated steady state error due to step and ramp command inputs and improve control precision, while the fuzzy control would maintain the insensitivity to parameter variation and disturbances. The FLSMFC strategy is implemented and applied to a position control of a DC servomotor drives. Experimental results indicated that FLSMFC system performance with respect to the sensitivity to parameter variations is greatly reduced. Also, excellent control effects and avoids the chattering phenomenon.
Abstract: Microwave energy can be used for drying purpose. It is unique process. It is distinctly different from conventional drying process. It is advantageous over conventional drying / heating processes. When microwave energy is used for drying purpose, the process can be accelerated with a better control to achieve uniform heating, more conversion efficiency, selective drying and ultimately improved product quality of the output. Also, less floor space and compact system are the added advantages. Existing low power microwave drying system is to be modified with suitable applicator. Appropriate sensors are to be used to measure parameters like moisture, temperature, weight of sample. Suitable high tech controller is to be used to control microwave power continuously from minimum to maximum. Phase - controller, cycle - controller and PWM - controller are some of the advanced power control techniques. It has been proposed to work on turmeric using high-tech phase controller to control the microwave power conveniently. The drying of turmeric with microwave energy employing phase controller gives better results as formulated in this paper and hence new approach of processing turmeric will open future doors of profit making to allied industries and the farmers.
Abstract: Method of Parallel Joint Channel Coding and
Cryptography has been analyzed and simulated in this paper. The
method is an extension of Soft Input Decryption with feedback,
which is used for improvement of channel decoding of secured
messages. Parallel Joint Channel Coding and Cryptography results in
improved coding gain of channel decoding, which achieves more
than 2 dB. Such results are an implication of a combination of
receiver components and their interoperability.
Abstract: To improve the dynamics response of the vehicle
passive suspension, a two-terminal mass is suggested to connect in
parallel with the suspension strut. Three performance criteria, tire grip,
ride comfort and suspension deflection, are taken into consideration to
optimize the suspension parameters. However, the three criteria are
conflicting and non-commensurable. For this reason, the Chebyshev
goal programming method is applied to find the best tradeoff among
the three objectives. A simulation case is presented to describe the
multi-objective optimization procedure. For comparison, the
Chebyshev method is also employed to optimize the design of a
conventional passive suspension. The effectiveness of the proposed
design method has been clearly demonstrated by the result. It is also
shown that the suspension with a two-terminal mass in parallel has
better performance in terms of the three objectives.
Abstract: This paper presents a model for analysis the induced voltage of transmission lines (energized) acting on neighboring distribution lines (de-energized). From environmental restrictions, 22 kV distribution lines need to be installed under 115 kV transmission lines. With the installation of the two parallel circuits like this, they make the induced voltage which can cause harm to operators. This work was performed with the ATP-EMTP modeling to analyze such phenomenon before field testing. Simulation results are used to find solutions to prevent danger to operators who are on the pole.
Abstract: In this paper DJess is presented, a novel distributed production system that provides an infrastructure for factual and procedural knowledge sharing. DJess is a Java package that provides programmers with a lightweight middleware by which inference systems implemented in Jess and running on different nodes of a network can communicate. Communication and coordination among inference systems (agents) is achieved through the ability of each agent to transparently and asynchronously reason on inferred knowledge (facts) that might be collected and asserted by other agents on the basis of inference code (rules) that might be either local or transmitted by any node to any other node.
Abstract: The characteristic bending strength (MOR) and mean
modulus of elasticity (MOE) of tropical hardwood red seraya (Shorea
spp.) plywood were determined using European Standard EN310 and
EN789. The thickness of the test specimen was 4.0mm, 7.0mm,
9.0mm, 12.0mm and 15.0mm. The experiment found that the MOR
of red seraya plywood in EN310 is about 12% to 20% and 7% to
24% higher than EN789 whereas MOE were about 28% to 41% and
30% to 36% lower than those obtained from EN 789 for test
specimens parallel and perpendicular to the grain direction. The
linear regression shows that MOR and MOE for EN789 is about 0.8
times less and 1.5 times more than EN310. The experiment also
found that the MOR and MOE of EN310 and EN789 also depend on
the wood species that used in the experiment.
Abstract: This research aimed to develop plasma system used in air conditioners. This developed plasma system could be installed in the air conditioners - all split type. The quality of air could be improved to be equal to present plasma system. Development processes were as follows: 1) to study the plasma system used in the air conditioners, 2) to design a plasma generator, 3) to develop the plasma generator, and 4) to test its performance in many types of the air conditioners. This plasma system was developed by AC high voltage – 14 kv with a frequency of 50 kHz. Carbon was a conductor to generate arc in air purifier system. The research was tested by installing the plasma generator in the air conditioners - wall type. Whereas, there were 3 types of installations: air flow out, air flow in, and room center. The result of the plasma generator installed in the air conditioners, split type, revealed that the air flow out installation provided the highest average of o-zone at 223 mg/h. This type of installation provided the highest efficiency of air quality improvement. Moreover, the air flow in installation and the room center installation provided the average of the o-zone at 163 mg/h and 64 mg/h, respectively.
Abstract: Von Willebrand-s disease is the most common
inherited bleeding disorder in humans, it
caused by qualitative abnormalities of the von Willebrand factor
(vWF). Our objective is to determine the prevalence of this disease at
part of the Algerian population in the East and the South by a
biological diagnosis based on specific biological tests (automated
platelet count, the bleeding time (TS), the time of cephalin + activator

VIII rate, Molecular electrophoresis of vWF multimers in agarose gel
in the presence of SDS). Four patients of type III or severe
Willebrand-s disease were found on 200 suspect cases. All cases are
showed a deficit in vWF rate (< 5%), and factor VIII (P
Abstract: Infrared focal plane arrays (IRFPA) sensors, due to
their high sensitivity, high frame frequency and simple structure, have
become the most prominently used detectors in military applications.
However, they suffer from a common problem called the fixed pattern
noise (FPN), which severely degrades image quality and limits the
infrared imaging applications. Therefore, it is necessary to perform
non-uniformity correction (NUC) on IR image. The algorithms of
non-uniformity correction are classified into two main categories, the
calibration-based and scene-based algorithms. There exist some
shortcomings in both algorithms, hence a novel non-uniformity
correction algorithm based on non-linear fit is proposed, which
combines the advantages of the two algorithms. Experimental results
show that the proposed algorithm acquires a good effect of NUC with
a lower non-uniformity ratio.
Abstract: An experiment was conducted under controlled
conditions to study the effect of water extract of leaves, shoots and
roots of either Sisymbrium irio L. =SISIR and/or Descurainia
sophia (L.) Schur =DESSO on the germination and primary growth
of wheat. A split-split plot experiment in CRD with three
replications was used. The main plots were the type of weed: i.e.
SISIR and DESSO and the sub-plots were type of organ: i.e. leaf,
stem and root and, the sub-sub plots were concentration of the
water extract of each organ of the weeds: i.e. 0, 2, 4 and 8 % w/v.
The plant materials were cut in 2-3 cm pieces and then were
ground in a blender. The crushed materials were weighed
according to experimental protocol and the final volume was
reached to 100 ml in distilled water in dark bottles. All bottles were
put on a shaker for 24 hours. The solutions were filtered by muslin
cloth. Whatman paper, 9 cm in diameter, were put in petri dishes
and twenty seeds of wheat were put on it and 5 ml distilled water
or water extract of weeds were added to each petri dish. All petri
dishes were put in constant temperature of 15 0C incubator.
The results showed that the SISIR water extract had a greater
inhibitory effects on germination and primary growth of wheat
than those of DESSO water extract. The water extracts of the
leaves of both weeds had the greatest inhibitory effects on
germination and primary growth of wheat, compared to those of
stems and roots. Increasing the concentration of water extract of
leaves, stems and roots of both weeds up to 8 % caused the greatest
inhibitory effects to wheat and reduced the germination rate and
primary growth of it linearly.
Abstract: Each new semiconductor technology node
brings smaller transistors and wires. Although this makes
transistors faster, wires get slower. In nano-scale regime, the
standard copper (Cu) interconnect will become a major hurdle
for FPGA interconnect due to their high resistivity and
electromigration. This paper presents the comprehensive
evaluation of mixed CNT bundle interconnects and
investigates their prospects as energy efficient and high speed
interconnect for future FPGA routing architecture. All
HSPICE simulations are carried out at operating frequency of
1GHz and it is found that mixed CNT bundle implemented in
FPGAs as interconnect can potentially provide a substantial
delay and energy reduction over traditional interconnects at
32nm process technology.
Abstract: In cryptography, confusion and diffusion are very
important to get confidentiality and privacy of message in block
ciphers and stream ciphers. There are two types of network to provide
confusion and diffusion properties of message in block ciphers. They
are Substitution- Permutation network (S-P network), and Feistel
network. NLFS (Non-Linear feedback stream cipher) is a fast and
secure stream cipher for software application. NLFS have two modes
basic mode that is synchronous mode and self synchronous mode.
Real random numbers are non-deterministic. R-box (random box)

transformation of data that can be used effectively meet the
challenges of information is protected from international destructive
impacts. In this paper, a new implementation of stochastic
transformation will be proposed.
Abstract: The challenge in the case of image authentication is that in many cases images need to be subjected to non malicious operations like compression, so the authentication techniques need to be compression tolerant. In this paper we propose an image authentication system that is tolerant to JPEG lossy compression operations. A scheme for JPEG grey scale images is proposed based on a data embedding method that is based on a secret key and a secret mapping vector in the frequency domain. An encrypted feature vector extracted from the image DCT coefficients, is embedded redundantly, and invisibly in the marked image. On the receiver side, the feature vector from the received image is derived again and compared against the extracted watermark to verify the image authenticity. The proposed scheme is robust against JPEG compression up to a maximum compression of approximately 80%,, but sensitive to malicious attacks such as cutting and pasting.
Abstract: Due to the dynamic nature of the Cloud, continuous monitoring of QoS requirements is necessary to manage the Cloud computing environment. The process of QoS monitoring and SLA violation detection consists of: collecting low and high level information pertinent to the service, analyzing the collected information, and taking corrective actions when SLA violations are detected. In this paper, we detail the architecture and the implementation of the first step of this process. More specifically, we propose an event-based approach to obtain run time information of services developed as BPEL processes. By catching particular events (i.e., the low level information), our approach recognizes the run-time execution path of a monitored service and uses the BPEL execution patterns to compute QoS of the composite service (i.e., the high level information).
