MATLAB Program Three phase 3 hp induction motor is modeled
and simulated with SIMULINK model.
Abstract: Sugarcane bagasses are one of the most extensively used agricultural residues. Using acid hydrolysis and fermentation, conversion of sugarcane bagasses to lactic acid was technically and economically feasible. This research was concerned with the solubility of lignin in ammonium hydroxide, acid hydrolysis and lactic acid fermentation by Lactococcus lactis, Lactobacillus delbrueckii, Lactobacillus plantarum, and Lactobacillus casei. The lignin extraction results for different ammonium hydroxide concentrations showed that 10 % (v/v) NH4OH was favorable to lignin dissolution. Acid hydrolysis can be enhanced with increasing acid concentration and reaction temperature. The optimum glucose and xylose concentrations occurred at 121 ○C for 1 hour hydrolysis time in 10% sulphuric acid solution were 32 and 11 g/l, respectively. In order to investigate the significance of medium composition on lactic acid production, experiments were undertaken whereby a culture of Lactococcus lactis was grown under various glucose, peptone, yeast extract and xylose concentrations. The optimum medium was composed of 5 g/l glucose, 2.5 g/l xylose, 10 g/l peptone and 5 g/l yeast extract. Lactococcus lactis represents the most efficient for lactic acid production amongst those considered. The lactic acid fermentation by Lactococcus lactis after 72 hours gave the highest yield of 1.4 (g lactic acid per g reducing sugar).
Abstract: This article presents the development of a neural
network cognitive model for the classification and detection of
different frequency signals. The basic structure of the implemented
neural network was inspired on the perception process that humans
generally make in order to visually distinguish between high and low
frequency signals. It is based on the dynamic neural network concept,
with delays. A special two-layer feedforward neural net structure was
successfully implemented, trained and validated, to achieve
minimum target error. Training confirmed that this neural net
structure descents and converges to a human perception classification
solution, even when far away from the target.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose APO, a new packet scheduling
scheme with Quality of Service (QoS) support for hybrid of
real and non-real time services in HSDPA networks. The APO
scheduling algorithm is based on the effective channel anticipation
model. In contrast to the traditional schemes, the proposed method is
implemented based on a cyclic non-work-conserving discipline.
Simulation results indicated that proposed scheme has good
capability to maximize the channel usage efficiency in compared to
another exist scheduling methods. Simulation results demonstrate the
effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
Abstract: Efficient and safe plant operation can only be
achieved if the operators are able to monitor all key process
parameters. Instrumentation is used to measure many process
variables, like temperatures, pressures, flow rates, compositions or
other product properties. Therefore Performance monitoring is a
suitable tool for operators. In this paper, we integrate rigorous
simulation model, data reconciliation and parameter estimation to
monitor process equipments and determine key performance
indicator (KPI) of them. The applied method here has been
implemented in two case studies.
Abstract: Hypertension is characterized with stress on the heart and blood vessels thus increasing the risk of heart attack and renal diseases. The Renin angiotensin system (RAS) plays a major role in blood pressure control. Renin is the enzyme that controls the RAS at the rate-limiting step. Our aim is to develop new drug-like leads which can inhibit renin and thereby emerge as therapeutics for hypertension. To achieve this, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation and receptor-based pharmacophore modeling were implemented, and three rennin-inhibitor complex structures were selected based on IC50 value and scaffolds of inhibitors. Three pharmacophore models were generated considering conformations induced by inhibitor. The compounds mapped to these models were selected and subjected to drug-like screening. The identified hits were docked into the active site of renin. Finally, hit1 satisfying the binding mode and interaction energy was selected as possible lead candidate to be used in novel renin inhibitors.

Information and communication technologies offer new
opportunities and prospects of their application for teaching and
training. The new level of literacy demands creation of essentially
new technology of obtaining of scientific knowledge. Methods of
training and development, social and professional requirements,
globalization of the communicative economic and political projects
connected with construction of a new society, depends on a level of
application of information and communication technologies in the
educational process. Computer technologies develop ideas of
programmed training, open completely new, not investigated
technological ways of training connected to unique opportunities of
modern computers and telecommunications. Computer technologies
of training are processes of preparation and transfer of the
information to the trainee by means of computer. Scientific and
technical progress as well as global spread of the technologies
created in the most developed countries of the world is the main
proof of the leading role of education in XXI century. Information
society needs individuals having modern knowledge. In practice, all
technologies, using special technical information means (computer,
audio, video) are called information technologies of education.
Abstract: Generalized Center String (GCS) problem are
generalized from Common Approximate Substring problem
and Common substring problems. GCS are known to be
NP-hard allowing the problems lies in the explosion of
potential candidates. Finding longest center string without
concerning the sequence that may not contain any motifs is
not known in advance in any particular biological gene
process. GCS solved by frequent pattern-mining techniques
and known to be fixed parameter tractable based on the
fixed input sequence length and symbol set size. Efficient
method known as Bpriori algorithms can solve GCS with
reasonable time/space complexities. Bpriori 2 and Bpriori
3-2 algorithm are been proposed of any length and any
positions of all their instances in input sequences. In this
paper, we reduced the time/space complexity of Bpriori
algorithm by Constrained Based Frequent Pattern mining
(CBFP) technique which integrates the idea of Constraint
Based Mining and FP-tree mining. CBFP mining technique
solves the GCS problem works for all center string of any
length, but also for the positions of all their mutated copies
of input sequence. CBFP mining technique construct TRIE
like with FP tree to represent the mutated copies of center
string of any length, along with constraints to restraint
growth of the consensus tree. The complexity analysis for
Constrained Based FP mining technique and Bpriori
algorithm is done based on the worst case and average case
approach. Algorithm's correctness compared with the
Bpriori algorithm using artificial data is shown.
Abstract: Broccoli has been widely recognized as a wealthy
vegetable which contains multiple nutrients with potent anti-cancer
properties. Lamb’s lettuce has been used as food for many centuries
but only recently became commercially available and literature is
therefore exiguous concerning these vegetables. The aim of this work
was to evaluate the influence of the extraction conditions on the yield
of phenolic compounds and the corresponding antioxidant capacity of
broccoli and lamb’s lettuce. The results indicate that lamb’s lettuce,
compared to broccoli, contains simultaneously a large amount of total
polyphenols as well as high antioxidant activity. It is clearly
demonstrated that extraction solvent significantly influences the
antioxidant activity. Methanol is the solvent that can globally
maximize the antioxidant extraction yield. The results presented
herein prove lamb’s lettuce as a very interesting source of
polyphenols, and thus a potential health-promoting food.
Abstract: Medical compression bandages are widely used in the
treatment of chronic venous disorder. In order to design effective
compression bandages, researchers have attempted to describe the
interface pressure applied by multi-layer bandages using mathematical
models. This paper reports on the work carried out to
compare and validate the mathematical models used to describe the
interface pressure applied by multi-layer bandages. Both analytical
and experimental results showed that using simple multiplication
of a number of bandage layers with the pressure applied by one
layer of bandage or ignoring the increase in the limb radius due to
former layers of bandage will result in overestimating the pressure.
Experimental results showed that the mathematical models, which
take into consideration the increase in the limb radius due to former
bandage layers, are more accurate than the one which does not.
Abstract: This paper presents a comparison between two Pulse
Width Modulation (PWM) algorithms applied to a three-level Neutral
Point Clamped (NPC) Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). The first
algorithm applied is the triangular-sinusoidal strategy; the second is
the Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) strategy. In the
first part, we present a topology of three-level NCP VSI. After that,
we develop the two PWM strategies to control this converter. At the
end the experimental results are presented.
Abstract: Signature represents an individual characteristic of a
person which can be used for his / her validation. For such application
proper modeling is essential. Here we propose an offline signature
recognition and verification scheme which is based on extraction of
several features including one hybrid set from the input signature
and compare them with the already trained forms. Feature points
are classified using statistical parameters like mean and variance.
The scanned signature is normalized in slant using a very simple
algorithm with an intention to make the system robust which is
found to be very helpful. The slant correction is further aided by the
use of an Artificial Neural Network (ANN). The suggested scheme
discriminates between originals and forged signatures from simple
and random forgeries. The primary objective is to reduce the two
crucial parameters-False Acceptance Rate (FAR) and False Rejection
Rate (FRR) with lesser training time with an intension to make the
system dynamic using a cluster of ANNs forming a multiple classifier
system.

The paper contains the VRP formulation, an overview of the multiple agent environment used and a description of the proposed implementation. The approach is validated experimentally. The experiment plan and the discussion of experiment results follow.
Abstract: In this work, we suggested a new approach for the
control of a mobile robot capable of being a building block of an
intelligent agent. This approach includes obstacle avoidance and goal
tracking implemented as two different sliding mode controllers. A
geometry based behavior arbitration is proposed for fusing the two
outputs. Proposed structure is tested on simulations and real robot.
Results have confirmed the high performance of the method.
Abstract: To investigate the applicability of the EDR-2 film for
clinical radiation dosimetry, percentage depth-doses, profiles and
distributions in open and dynamically wedged fields were measured
using film and compared with data from a Treatment Planning
system. The validity of the EDR2 film to measure dose in a plane
parallel to the beam was tested by irradiating 10 cm×10 cm and 4
cm×4 cm fields from a Siemens, primus linac with a 6MV beam and
a source-to-surface distance of 100 cm. The film was placed
Horizontally between solid water phantom blocks and marked
with pin holes at a depth of 10 cm from the incident beam surface.
The film measurement results, in absolute dose, were compared with
ion chamber measurements using a Welhoffer scanning water tank
system and Treatment Planning system. Our results indicate a
maximum underestimate of calculated dose of 8 % with Treatment
Planning system.
Abstract: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) are a class of
structural and functional related enzymes involved in altering the
natural elements of the extracellular matrix. Most of the MMP
structures are cristalographycally determined and published in
WorldWide ProteinDataBank, isolated, in full structure or bound to
natural or synthetic inhibitors. This study proposes an algorithm to
replace missing crystallographic structures in PDB database. We
have compared the results of a chosen docking algorithm with a
known crystallographic structure in order to validate enzyme sites
reconstruction there where crystallographic data are missing.
Abstract: The degradation of selected pharmaceuticals in some
water matrices was studied by using several chemical treatments. The
pharmaceuticals selected were the beta-blocker metoprolol, the
nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory naproxen, the antibiotic amoxicillin,
and the analgesic phenacetin; and their degradations were conducted
by using UV radiation alone, ozone, Fenton-s reagent, Fenton-like
system, photo-Fenton system, and combinations of UV radiation and
ozone with H2O2, TiO2, Fe(II), and Fe(III). The water matrices, in
addition to ultra-pure water, were a reservoir water, a groundwater,
and two secondary effluents from two municipal WWTP. The results
reveal that the presence of any second oxidant enhanced the
oxidation rates, with the systems UV/TiO2 and O3/TiO2 providing the
highest degradation rates. It is also observed in most of the
investigated oxidation systems that the degradation rate followed the
sequence: amoxicillin > naproxen > metoprolol > phenacetin. Lower
rates were obtained with the pharmaceuticals dissolved in natural
waters and secondary effluents due to the organic matter present
which consume some amounts of the oxidant agents.

Abstract: Buildings with floating column are highly undesirable built in seismically active areas. Many urban multi-storey buildings today have floating column buildings which are adopted to accommodate parking at ground floor or reception lobbies in the first storey. The earthquake forces developed at different floor levels in a building need to be brought down along the height to the ground by the shortest path; any deviation or discontinuity in this load transfer path results in poor performance of the building. Floating column buildings are severely damaged during earthquake. Damage on this structure can be reduce by taking the effect of infill wall. This paper presents the effect of stiffness of infill wall to the damage occurred in floating column building when ground shakes. Modelling and analysis are carried out by non linear analysis programme IDARC-2D. Damage occurred in beams, columns, storey are studied by formulating modified Park & Ang model to evaluate damage indices. Overall structural damage indices in buildings due to shaking of ground are also obtained. Dynamic response parameters i.e. lateral floor displacement, storey drift, time period, base shear of buildings are obtained and results are compared with the ordinary moment resisting frame buildings. Formation of cracks, yield, plastic hinge, are also observed during analysis.
Abstract: One of the problems in fault diagnosis of transformer
based on dissolved gas, is lack of matching the result of fault
diagnosis of different standards with the real world. In this paper, the
result of the different standards is analyzed using fuzzy and the result
is compared with the empirical test. The comparison between the
suggested method and existing methods indicate the capability of the
suggested method in on-line fault diagnosis of the transformers. In
addition, in some cases the existing standards are not able to
diagnose the fault. In theses cases, the presented method has the
potential of diagnosing the fault. The information of three
transformers is used to the show the capability of the suggested
method in diagnosing the fault. The results validate the capability of
the presented method in fault diagnosis of the transformer.
