Abstract: In the current study, two-dimensional unsteady heat conduction in a functionally graded cylinder is studied analytically. The temperature distribution is in radial and longitudinal directions. Heat conduction coefficients are considered a power function of radius both in radial and longitudinal directions. The proposed solution can exactly satisfy the boundary conditions. Analytical unsteady temperature distribution for different parameters of functionally graded cylinder is investigated. The achieved exact solution is useful for thermal stress analysis of functionally graded cylinders. Regarding the analytical approach, this solution can be used to understand the concepts of heat conduction in functionally graded materials.
Abstract: After the World War II, the world economy was disrupted and changed due to oil and its prices. The research in this paper presents the basic statistical features and economic characteristics of the Gulf economy. The main features of the Gulf economies and its heavy dependence on oil exports, its dualism between modern and traditional sectors and its rapidly increasing affluences are particularly emphasized. In this context, the research in this paper discussed the problems of growth versus development and has attempted to draw the implications for the future economic development of this area.
Abstract: This paper presents an adaptive thermal comfort
model study in the tropical country of Malaysia. A number of
researchers have been interested in applying the adaptive thermal
comfort model to different climates throughout the world, but so far
no study has been performed in Malaysia. For the use as a thermal
comfort model, which better applies to hot and humid climates, the
adaptive thermal comfort model was developed as part of this
research by using the collected results from a large field study in six
lecture halls with 178 students. The relationship between the
operative temperature and behavioral adaptations was determined. In
the developed adaptive model, the acceptable indoor neutral
temperatures lay within the range of 23.9-26.0C, with outdoor
temperatures ranging between 27.0-34.6C. The most comfortable
temperature for students in lecture hall was 25.7C.
Abstract: One of the main biomedical problem lies in detecting dependencies in semi structured data. Solution includes biomedical portal and algorithms (integral rating health criteria, multidimensional data visualization methods). Biomedical portal allows to process diagnostic and research data in parallel mode using Microsoft System Center 2012, Windows HPC Server cloud technologies. Service does not allow user to see internal calculations instead it provides practical interface. When data is sent for processing user may track status of task and will achieve results as soon as computation is completed. Service includes own algorithms and allows diagnosing and predicating medical cases. Approved methods are based on complex system entropy methods, algorithms for determining the energy patterns of development and trajectory models of biological systems and logical–probabilistic approach with the blurring of images.
Abstract: The after–sales activities are nowadays acknowledged
as a relevant source of revenue, profit and competitive advantage in
most manufacturing industries. Top and middle management,
therefore, should focus on the definition of a structured business
performance measurement system for the after-sales business. The
paper aims at filling this gap, and presents an integrated methodology
for the after-sales network performance measurement, and provides
an empirical application to automotive case companies and their
official service network. This is the first study that presents an
integrated multivariate approach for total assessment and
improvement of after-sale services.
Abstract: This study presents an exact general solution for
steady-state conductive heat transfer in cylindrical composite
laminates. Appropriate Fourier transformation has been obtained
using Sturm-Liouville theorem. Series coefficients are achieved by
solving a set of equations that related to thermal boundary conditions
at inner and outer of the cylinder, also related to temperature
continuity and heat flux continuity between each layer. The solution
of this set of equations are obtained using Thomas algorithm. In this
paper, the effect of fibers- angle on temperature distribution of
composite laminate is investigated under general boundary
conditions. Here, we show that the temperature distribution for any
composite laminates is between temperature distribution for
laminates with θ = 0° and θ = 90° .
Abstract: Almost all universities include some form of assignment in their courses. The assignments are either carried out in either in groups or individually. To effectively manage these submitted assignments, a well-designed assignment submission system is needed, hence the need for an online assignment submission system to facilitate the distribution, and collection of assignments on due dates. The objective of such system is to facilitate interaction of lecturers and students for assessment and grading purposes. The aim of this study was to create a web based online assignment submission system for University of Mauritius. The system was created to eliminate the traditional process of giving an assignment and collecting the answers for the assignment. Lecturers can also create automated assessment to assess the students online. Moreover, the online submission system consists of an automatic mailing system which acts as a reminder for students about the deadlines of the posted assignments. System was tested to measure its acceptance rate among both student and lecturers.
