Abstract: We present a simplified equalization technique for a
π/4 differential quadrature phase shift keying ( π/4 -DQPSK) modulated
signal in a multipath fading environment. The proposed equalizer is
realized as a fractionally spaced adaptive decision feedback equalizer
(FS-ADFE), employing exponential step-size least mean square
(LMS) algorithm as the adaptation technique. The main advantage of
the scheme stems from the usage of exponential step-size LMS algorithm
in the equalizer, which achieves similar convergence behavior
as that of a recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm with significantly
reduced computational complexity. To investigate the finite-precision
performance of the proposed equalizer along with the π/4 -DQPSK
modem, the entire system is evaluated on a 16-bit fixed point digital
signal processor (DSP) environment. The proposed scheme is found
to be attractive even for those cases where equalization is to be
performed within a restricted number of training samples.
Abstract: Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni (natural sweetener) belongs
to Asteraceae family and can be used as substitute of artificial
sweeteners for diabetic patients. Conventionally, it is cultivated by
seeds or stem cutting, but seed viability rate is poor. A protocol for
callus induction and multiplication was developed to produce large
no. of calli in short period. Surface sterilized nodal, leaf and root
explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with
different concentrations of plant hormone like, IBA, kinetin, NAA,
2,4-D, and NAA in combination with 2,4-D. 100% callusing was
observed from leaf explants cultured on combination of NAA and
2,4-D after three weeks while with 2,4-D, only 10% callusing was
observed. Calli obtained from leaf and root explants were shiny green
while with nodal explants it was hard and brown. The present
findings deal with induction of callusing in Stevia to achieve the
rapid callus multiplication for study of steviol glycosides in callus
culture.
Abstract: This paper presents a simple and sensitive kinetic
spectrophotometric method for the determination of ramipril in
commercial dosage forms. The method is based on the reaction of the
drug with 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (CDNB) in dimethylsulfoxide
(DMSO) at 100 ± 1ºC. The reaction is followed
spectrophotometrically by measuring the rate of change of the
absorbance at 420 nm. Fixed-time (ΔA) and equilibrium methods are
adopted for constructing the calibration curves. Both the calibration
curves were found to be linear over the concentration ranges 20 - 220
μg/ml. The regression analysis of calibration data yielded the linear
equations: Δ A = 6.30 × 10-4 + 1.54 × 10-3 C and A = 3.62 × 10-4 +
6.35 × 10-3 C for fixed time (Δ A) and equilibrium methods,
respectively. The limits of detection (LOD) for fixed time and
equilibrium methods are 1.47 and 1.05 μg/ml, respectively. The
method has been successfully applied to the determination of ramipril
in commercial dosage forms. Statistical comparison of the results
shows that there is no significant difference between the proposed
methods and Abdellatef-s spectrophotometric method.
