Abstract: The research of juice flavor forecasting has become
more important in China. Due to the fast economic growth in China,
many different kinds of juices have been introduced to the market. If a
beverage company can understand their customers’ preference well,
the juice can be served more attractive. Thus, this study intends to
introducing the basic theory and computing process of grapes juice
flavor forecasting based on support vector regression (SVR). Applying
SVR, BPN, and LR to forecast the flavor of grapes juice in real data
shows that SVR is more suitable and effective at predicting
performance.
Abstract: A large amount of blast furnace slag is generated in
China. Most ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) however
ends up in low-grade applications. Blast furnace slag, ground to an
appropriate fineness, can be used as a partial replacement of
cementitious material in concrete. The potential for using GGBS in
structural concrete, e.g. concrete beams and columns is investigated
at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). With 50% of CEM
I cement replaced with GGBS, peak hydration temperatures
determined in a suspended concrete slab reduced by 20%. This
beneficiary effect has not been further improved with 70% of CEM I
replaced with GGBS. Partial replacement of CEM I with GGBS has a
retardation effect on the early-age strength of concrete. More GGBS
concrete mixes will be conducted to identify an ‘optimum’
replacement level which will lead to a reduced thermal loading,
without significantly compromising the early-age strength of
concrete.
Abstract: The impact of Special Economic Zones (SEZs) has
been analyzed for many years by researchers. There are lot of
theoretical studies proving the SEZs importance for regional
development, however, there is lack of empirical studies (and they
are mainly focused on China market) that are based on available data.
The theoretical studies indicate the various impacts of enterprises
operating within SEZs on the economy. The article proves that, in
case of Poland, locating SEZs in municipalities is an important part
of increasing municipalities’ income. Therefore SEZs have a positive
impact on regional development. Municipality income is understood
as taxes paid by taxpayers who depend on SEZ companies’
performance. The analysis includes the Corporate Income Tax (CIT),
Personal Income Tax (PIT) and real estate tax. The effects of SEZs
on regional development were narrowed to a few variables that are
most significant for the financial system. The analysis indicates the
significant impact of SEZs on the amount of taxes influencing the
municipality budget.
Abstract: China is currently the world's largest producer and distributor of electric bicycle (e-bike). The increasing number of e-bikes on the road is accompanied by rising injuries and even deaths of e-bike drivers. Therefore, there is a growing need to improve the safety structure of e-bikes. This 3D frictionless contact analysis is a preliminary, but necessary work for further structural design improvement of an e-bike. The contact analysis between e-bike and the ground was carried out as follows: firstly, the Penalty method was illustrated and derived from the simplest spring-mass system. This is one of the most common methods to satisfy the frictionless contact case; secondly, ANSYS static analysis was carried out to verify finite element (FE) models with contact pair (without friction) between e-bike and the ground; finally, ANSYS transient analysis was used to obtain the data of the penetration p(u) of e-bike with respect to the ground. Results obtained from the simulation are as estimated by comparing with that from theoretical method. In the future, protective shell will be designed following the stability criteria and added to the frame of e-bike. Simulation of side falling of the improvedsafety structure of e-bike will be confirmed with experimental data.
Abstract: The restrained construction zoning, an important part
in the urban master plan, is a necessary planning tool to control the city
sprawl, to guarantee the reservation implementation of the various
types of protective elements, and to realize the storage of the essential
urban spatial resources. Simultaneously, owing to the diverse
constitutes of restrained construction area and the various stakeholders
involved in, its planning requires an overall consideration of all
elements from the perspective of coordination+, balance and
practicability to deal with the problems and conflicts in this process.
Taking Yangzijin Ecological Restrained Construction Area in
Yangzhou as an example, this study analyzes all the potential actors,
agencies and stakeholders in this restrained construction area, as well
as the relevant conflicts between each other. Besides, this study tries to
build up a planning procedure based on the framework of governance
theory, and proposes a possible planning method that combines
"rigidity" and "flexibility" to protect the ecological limitation
boundary, to take every interest into account, and to promote economic
development in a harmonious society.
Abstract: The globalization of markets, the need to develop
competitive advantages and core competencies, among other things,
lead organizations to increasingly cross borders to operate in other
countries. The expatriation of professionals who go to work in
another country besides their own becomes increasingly common. In
order to generate data about this issue, research was conducted
concerning the perception of expatriate employees concerning
expatriation success. The research method used was case study
through a qualitative approach. This research was done through
interviews with five India expatriates and five China expatriates,
interview with expatriate department heads and analysis of company
documents. It was found that there are differences between the
organizational perception and perception of expatriates of what
constitutes mission success. The paper also provides suggestions for
further research and suggestions for future expatriates.

Abstract: In the culture of Thailand, the Yak serve as a mediated
icon representing strength, power, and mystical protection not only
for the Buddha, but for population of worshipers. Originating from
the forests of China, the Yak continues to stand guard at the gates of
Buddhist temples. The Yak represents Thai culture in the hearts of
Thai people. This paper presents a qualitative study regarding the
curious mix of media, culture, and religion that projects the Yak of
Thailand as a larger than life message throughout the political,
cultural, and religious spheres. The gate guardians, or gods as they
are sometimes called, appear throughout the religious temples of
Asian cultures. However, the Asian cultures demonstrate differences
in artistic renditions (or presentations) of such sentinels. Thailand
gate guards (the Yak) stand in front of many Buddhist temples, and
these iconic figures display unique features with varied symbolic
significance. The temple (or wat), plays a vital role in every
community; and, for many people, Thailand’s temples are the
country’s most endearing sights. The authors applied folknography as
a methodology to illustrate the importance of the Thai Yak in serving
as meaningful icons that transcend not only time, but the culture,
religion, and mass media. The Yak represents mythical, religious,
artistic, cultural, and militaristic significance for the Thai people.
Data collection included interviews, focus groups, and natural
observations. This paper summarizes the perceptions of the Thai
people concerning their gate sentries and the relationship,
communication, connection, and the enduring respect that Thai
people hold for their guardians of the gates.
Abstract: Due to reduced stiffness, research on second
generation titanium alloys for implant applications, like the
metastable β-titanium alloy Ti-15Mo, become more and more
important in the recent years. The machinability of these alloys is
generally poor leading to problems during implant production and
comparably large production costs. Therefore, in the present study,
Ti-15Mo was alloyed with 0.8 wt.-% of the rare earth metals
lanthanum (Ti-15Mo+0.8La) and neodymium (Ti-15Mo+0.8Nd) to
improve its machinability. Their microstructure consisted of a
titanium matrix and micrometer-size particles of the rare earth metals
and two of their oxides. The particles stabilized the microstructure as
grain growth was minimized. As especially the ductility might be
affected by the precipitates, the behavior of Ti-15Mo+0.8La and Ti-
15Mo+0.8Nd was investigated during static and dynamic
deformation at elevated temperature to develop a processing route.
The resulting mechanical properties (static strength and ductility)
were similar in all investigated alloys.

Abstract: Media displays in public areas are becoming
increasingly pervasive—they are used in many settings, come in
different sizes, serve different purposes, and have varied degrees of
interactivity. In this paper, we aim to provide a survey of how these
displays, often named media façades, are used in the wild in a city in
China which is undergoing a rapid growth. This survey is intended to
raise greater awareness and discussion about the use and effect of
these displays in public areas. Through this survey, we have been
able to distill some lessons of what is good, bad, and ugly about some
current examples of media displays used in a city that is transitioning
into becoming a modern one and one that is located in one of the
fastest growing areas in Asia. With this research, we hope that we can
provide technology designers and architects with some general
principles that can help them integrate these types of technologies
into their architectural creations.

employment of public servants has a representative status in our labor
market. The second part is about the discrimination in the employment
of public servants. The third part is about the right of equality and its
significance. The last part is to analysis the legal predicament about
discrimination in the employment of public servants in China.
Abstract: Preference for different conflict resolution styles is
influenced by cultural background and power distance of two parties
involving in conflict. This research put forward 7 hypotheses and
tested the preference differences of the five conflict resolution styles
between Chinese owner and contractor as well as the preference
differences concerning the same style between two parties. The
research sample includes 202 practitioners from construction
enterprises in mainland China. Research result found that theories
concerning conflict resolution styles could be applied in the Chinese
construction industry. Some results of this research were not in line
with former research, and this research also gave explanation to the
differences from the characteristics of construction projects. Based on
the findings, certain suggestions were made to serve as a guidance for
managers to choose appropriate conflict resolution styles for a better
handling of conflict.
Abstract: Strategic spatial planning, which is taken as an effective and competitive way for the governors of the city to improve the development and management level of a city, has been blooming in recent years all over the world. In the context of globalization and informatization, strategic spatial planning must transfer its focus on three different levels: global, regional and urban. Internal and external changes in environmental conditions lead to new advances in strategic planning both theoretically and practically. However, such advances or changes respond differently to cities on account of different dynamic mechanisms. This article aims at two cities of Tianjin in China and Melbourne in Australia, through a comparative study on strategic planning, to explore the differentiation of mechanisms in urban planning making. By comparison and exploration, the purpose of this article is to exhibit two different planning worlds between western and Chinese in a new way nowadays.
Abstract: Systematic Science reveals the complex nonlinear mechanisms of behavior in urban system. However, when confronted with such system, most city planners in China are still utilizing simple linear thinking to learn and understand this open complex giant system. In this paper, the hypercycle theory was introduced, which is one of the basis theories of systematic science. Based on the analysis of the reasons for the failure of current urban planning in China, and in consideration of the nonlinear characteristics of the urban system as well, optimization ideas for urban planning formulation were presented such as the shift from blueprint planning to progressive planning and from the rigid urban planning management control to its dynamically monitor and in time feedback.
Abstract: Beginning with the debate of concept, this essay explains the historical source and development of flexible housing in China. In the former part, the flexibility contained in traditional house is explored. While in the latter, the relevant practices in modern times are systematically analyzed as three phases–the Embryonic Period (1949 - 1980), the Systematic Practice (1981 - 2000), as well as the Integrated Trend and Prosperity (2001 - present). As a conclusion, the generalized flexibility is tentatively discussed.
