Abstract: One of the basic concepts in marketing is the concept
of meeting customers- needs. Since customer satisfaction is essential
for lasting survival and development of a business, screening and
observing customer satisfaction and recognizing its underlying
factors must be one of the key activities of every business.
The purpose of this study is to recognize the drivers that effect
customer satisfaction in a business-to-business situation in order to
improve marketing activities. We conducted a survey in which 93
business customers of a manufacturer of Diesel Generator in Iran
participated and they talked about their ideas and satisfaction of
supplier-s services related to its products. We developed the measures
for drivers of satisfaction first by as investigative research (by means
of feedback from executives and customers of sponsoring firm). Then
based on these measures, we created a mail survey, and asked the
respondents to explain their opinion about the sponsoring firm which
was a supplier of diesel generator and similar products. Furthermore,
the survey required the participants to mention their functional areas
and their company features.
In Conclusion we found that there are three drivers for customer
satisfaction, which are reliability, information about product, and
commercial features. Buyers/users from different functional areas
attribute different degree of importance to the last two drivers. For
instance, people from buying and management areas believe that
commercial features are more important than information about
products. But people in engineering, maintenance and production
areas believe that having information about products is more
important than commercial aspects. Marketing experts should
consider the attribute of customers regarding information about the
product and commercial features to improve market share.
Abstract: Nowadays, the pace of business change is such that,
increasingly, new functionality has to be realized and reliably
installed in a matter of days, or even hours. Consequently, more and
more business processes are prone to a continuous change. The
objective of the research in progress is to use the MAP model, in a
conceptual modeling method for flexible and adaptive business
process. This method can be used to capture the flexibility
dimensions of a business process; it takes inspiration from
modularity concept in the object oriented paradigm to establish a
hierarchical construction of the BP modeling. Its intent is to provide
a flexible modeling that allows companies to quickly adapt their
business processes.
Abstract: In the micro and nano-technology industry, the
«clean-rooms» dedicated to manufacturing chip, are equipped with
the most sophisticated equipment-tools. There use a large number of
resources in according to strict specifications for an optimum
working and result. The distribution of «utilities» to the production is
assured by teams who use a supervision tool.
The studies show the interest to control the various parameters of
production or/and distribution, in real time, through a reliable and
effective supervision tool. This document looks at a large part of the
functions that the supervisor must assure, with complementary
functionalities to help the diagnosis and simulation that prove very
useful in our case where the supervised installations are complexed
and in constant evolution.
Abstract: This experiment was performed with the purpose of
investigating effect of additional blend of probiotics Saccharomyces
cerevisiae and Lactobacillus acidophilus on plasma fatty acid profiles
particularly conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in growing goats fed corn
silage, and selected the optimal levels of the probiotics for further study.
Twenty-four growing crossbred (Thai native x Anglo-Nubian) goats that
weighed (14.2 ± 2.3) kg, aged about 6 months, were purchased and
allocated to 4 treatments according to Randomized Complete Block
Design (RCBD) with 6 goats in each treatment. The blocks were made by
weight into heavy, medium, and light goats and each of the treatments
contained two goats from each of the blocks. In the mean time, ruminal
average pH unaffected, but the NH3-N and also plasma urea nitrogen
(p0.05) were raised, but propionic
proportion (p0.05) were reduced in
concurrent with raise of acetic proportion and resultantly C2:C3 ratio
(p>0.05). On plasma fatty acid profiles, total saturated fatty acids
(p>0.05) was increased, and contrasted with decrease of C15:0
(p0.05), and C18-C22 polyunsaturated fatty acids

Abstract: Manufacturing components of fiber-reinforced
thermoplastics requires three steps: heating the matrix, forming and
consolidation of the composite and terminal cooling the matrix. For
the heating process a pre-determined temperature distribution through
the layers and the thickness of the pre-consolidated sheets is
recommended to enable forming mechanism. Thus, a design for the
heating process for forming composites with thermoplastic matrices
is necessary. To obtain a constant temperature through thickness and
width of the sheet, the heating process was analyzed by the help of
the finite element method. The simulation models were validated by
experiments with resistance thermometers as well as with an infrared
camera. Based on the finite element simulation, heating methods for
infrared radiators have been developed. Using the numeric
simulation many iteration loops are required to determine the process
parameters. Hence, the initiation of a model for calculating relevant
process parameters started applying regression functions.
Abstract: Technological innovation capability (TIC) is
defined as a comprehensive set of characteristics of a firm that
facilities and supports its technological innovation strategies.
An audit to evaluate the TICs of a firm may trigger
improvement in its future practices. Such an audit can be used
by the firm for self assessment or third-party independent
assessment to identify problems of its capability status. This
paper attempts to develop such an auditing framework that
can help to determine the subtle links between innovation
capabilities and business performance; and to enable the
auditor to determine whether good practice is in place. The
seven TICs in this study include learning, R&D, resources
allocation, manufacturing, marketing, organization and
strategic planning capabilities. Empirical data was acquired
through a survey study of 200 manufacturing firms in the
Hong Kong/Pearl River Delta (HK/PRD) region. Structural
equation modelling was employed to examine the
relationships among TICs and various performance indicators:
sales performance, innovation performance, product
performance, and sales growth. The results revealed that
different TICs have different impacts on different
performance measures. Organization capability was found to
have the most influential impact. Hong Kong manufacturers
are now facing the challenge of high-mix-low-volume
customer orders. In order to cope with this change, good
capability in organizing different activities among various
departments is critical to the success of a company.
Abstract: The current of professional bicycle pedal-s
manufacturing model mostly used casting, forging, die-casting
processing methods, so the paper used 7075 aluminum alloy which is
to produce the bicycle parts most commonly, and employs the
rigid-plastic finite element (FE) DEFORMTM 3D software to simulate
and to analyze the professional bicycle pedal design. First we use Solid
works 2010 3D graphics software to design the professional bicycle
pedal of the mold and appearance, then import finite element (FE)
DEFORMTM 3D software for analysis. The paper used rigid-plastic
model analytical methods, and assuming mode to be rigid body. A
series of simulation analyses in which the variables depend on
different temperature of forging billet, friction factors, forging speed,
mold temperature are reveal to effective stress, effective strain, damage
and die radial load distribution for forging bicycle pedal. The analysis
results hope to provide professional bicycle pedal forming mold
references to identified whether suit with the finite element results for
high-strength design suitability of aluminum alloy.
Abstract: A product development for green logistics model using
the fuzzy analytic network process method is presented for evaluating
the relationships among the product design, the manufacturing
activities, and the green supply chain. In the product development
stage, there can be alternative ways to design the detailed components
to satisfy the design concept and product requirement. In different
design alternative cases, the manufacturing activities can be different.
In addition, the manufacturing activities can affect the green supply
chain of the components and product. In this research, a fuzzy analytic
network process evaluation model is presented for evaluating the
criteria in product design, manufacturing activities, and green supply
chain. The comparison matrices for evaluating the criteria among the
three groups are established. The total relational values between the
three groups represent the relationships and effects. In application, the
total relational values can be used to evaluate the design alternative
cases for decision-making to select a suitable design case and the green
supply chain. In this presentation, an example product is illustrated. It
shows that the model is useful for integrated evaluation of design and
manufacturing and green supply chain for the purpose of product
development for green logistics.
Abstract: As increasing importance of symbiosis and cooperation among mobile communication industries, the mobile ecosystem has been especially highlighted in academia and practice. The structure of mobile ecosystem is quite complex and the ecological role of actors is important to understand that structure. In this respect, this study aims to explore structure of mobile ecosystem in the case of Korea using inter-industry network analysis. Then, the ecological roles in mobile ecosystem are identified using centrality measures as a result of network analysis: degree of centrality, closeness, and betweenness. The result shows that the manufacturing and service industries are separate. Also, the ecological roles of some actors are identified based on the characteristics of ecological terms: keystone, niche, and dominator. Based on the result of this paper, we expect that the policy makers can formulate the future of mobile industry and healthier mobile ecosystem can be constructed.

Abstract: In most study fields, a phenomenon may not be
studied directly but it will be examined indirectly by phenomenon
model. Making an accurate model of system, there is attained new
information from modeled phenomenon without any charge, danger,
etc... there have been developed more solutions for describing and
analyzing the recent complicated systems but few of them have
analyzed the performance in the range of system description. Petri
nets are of limited solutions which may make such union. Petri nets
are being applied in problems related to modeling and designing the
systems. Theory of Petri nets allow a system to model
mathematically by a Petri net and analyzing the Petri net can then
determine main information of modeled system-s structure and
dynamic. This information can be used for assessing the performance
of systems and suggesting corrections in the system. In this paper,
beside the introduction of Petri nets, a real case study will be studied
in order to show the application of generalized stochastic Petri nets in
modeling a resource sharing production system and evaluating the
efficiency of its machines and robots. The modeling tool used here is
SHARP software which calculates specific indicators helping to
make decision.
Abstract: Due to dynamic evolution, the ability of a
manufacturing technology to produce a special product is changing.
Therefore, it is essential to monitor the established techniques and
processes to detect whether a company-s production will fit future
circumstances. Concerning the manufacturing technology planning
process, companies must decide when to change to a new technology
for maintaining and increasing competitive advantages. In this
context, the maturity assessment of the focused technologies is
crucial. This article presents an approach for defining the maturity of
a manufacturing technology from a strategic point of view. The
concept is based on the approach of technology readiness level
(TRL) according to NASA (National Aeronautics and Space
Administration), but also includes dynamic changes. Therefore, the
model takes into account the concept of the technology life cycle.
Furthermore, it enables a company to estimate the ideal date for
implementation of a new manufacturing technology.
Abstract: Simulation model is an easy way to build up models
to represent real life scenarios, to identify bottlenecks and to enhance
system performance. Using a valid simulation model may give
several advantages in creating better manufacturing design in order to
improve the system performances. This paper presents result of
implementing a simulation model to design hard disk drive
manufacturing process by applying line balancing to improve both
productivity and quality of hard disk drive process. The line balance
efficiency showed 86% decrease in work in process, output was
increased by an average of 80%, average time in the system was
decreased 86% and waiting time was decreased 90%.
Abstract: Acetaminophen (Paracetamol) tablets are popular OTC products among patients as analgesics and antipyretics. Paracetamol is marketed by a lot of suppliers around the world. The aim of the present investigation was to compare between many types of paracetamol tablets obtained from different suppliers (six brands produced by different pharmaceutical companies in middle east countries, and Panadol® manufactured in Ireland), by different quality control tests according to USP pharmacopeia.Using Non official tests-hardness and friability; official tests- disintegration, dissolution, and drug content. Abstract: increased competition and increased costs of
designing made it important for the firms to identify the right
products and the right methods for manufacturing the products. Firms
should focus on customers and identify customer demands directly to
design the right products. Several management methods and
techniques that are currently available improve one or more functions
or processes in an industry and do not take the complete product life
cycle into consideration. On the other hand target costing is a method
/ philosophy that takes financial, manufacturing and customer aspects
into consideration during designing phase and helps firms in making
product design decisions to increase the profit / value of the
company. It uses various techniques to identify customer demands, to
decrease costs of manufacturing and finally to achieve strategic goals.
Target Costing forms an integral part of total product design /
redesign based on strategic plans.
Abstract: Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) play an important role in many economies. In New Zealand, for example, 97% of all manufacturing companies employ less than 100 staff, and generate the predominant part of this industry sector-s economic output. Manufacturing SMEs as a group also have a significant impact on the environment. This situation is similar in many developed economies, including the European Union. Sustainable economic development therefore needs to strongly consider the role of manufacturing SMEs, who generally find it challenging to move towards more environmentally friendly business practices. This paper presents a systems thinking approach to modelling and understanding the factors which have an influence on the successful uptake of environmental practices in small and medium sized manufacturing companies. It presents a number of causal loop diagrams which have been developed based on primary action research, and a thorough understanding of the literature in this area. The systems thinking model provides the basis for further development of a strategic framework for the successful uptake of environmental innovation in manufacturing SMEs.
Abstract: Laser engraving is a manufacturing method for those applications where previously Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) was the only choice. Laser engraving technology removes material layer-by-layer and the thickness of layers is usually in the range of few microns. The aim of the present work is to investigate the influence of the process parameters on the surface quality when machined by laser engraving. The examined parameters were: the pulse frequency, the beam speed and the layer thickness. The surface quality was determined by the surface roughness for every set of parameters. Experimental results on Al7075 material showed that the surface roughness strictly depends on the process parameters used.
Abstract: This paper addresses the problem of recognizing and
interpreting the behavior of human workers in industrial
environments for the purpose of integrating humans in software
controlled manufacturing environments. In this work we propose a
generic concept in order to derive solutions for task-related manual
production applications. Thus, we are able to use a versatile concept
providing flexible components and being less restricted to a specific
problem or application. We instantiate our concept in a spot welding
scenario in which the behavior of a human worker is interpreted
when performing a welding task with a hand welding gun. We
acquire signals from inertial sensors, video cameras and triggers and
recognize atomic actions by using pose data from a marker based
video tracking system and movement data from inertial sensors.
Recognized atomic actions are analyzed on a higher evaluation level
by a finite state machine.
Abstract: This paper aims to study the methodology of building the knowledge of planning adequate punches in order to complete the task of strip layout for shearing processes, using progressive dies. The proposed methodology uses die design rules and characteristics of different types of punches to classify them into five groups: prior use (the punches must be used first), posterior use (must be used last), compatible use (may be used together), sequential use (certain punches must precede some others) and simultaneous use (must be used together). With these five groups of punches, the searching space of feasible designs will be greatly reduced, and superimposition becomes a more effective method of punch layout. The superimposition scheme will generate many feasible solutions, an evaluation function based on number of stages, moment balancing and strip stability is developed for helping designers to find better solutions.
Abstract: Collaborative networked learning (hereafter CNL)
was first proposed by Charles Findley in his work “Collaborative
networked learning: online facilitation and software support" as part
of instructional learning for the future of the knowledge worker. His
premise was that through electronic dialogue learners and experts
could interactively communicate within a contextual framework to
resolve problems, and/or to improve product or process knowledge.
Collaborative learning has always been the forefront of educational
technology and pedagogical research, but not in the mainstream of
operations management. As a result, there is a large disparity in the
study of CNL, and little is known about the antecedents of network
collaboration and sharing of information among diverse employees in
the manufacturing environment. This paper presents a model to
bridge the gap between theory and practice. The objective is that
manufacturing organizations will be able to accelerate organizational
learning and sharing of information through various collaborative
