Abstract: The control of oxygen flow rate during growth of
titanium dioxide by mass flow controller in DC plasma sputtering
growth system is studied. The impedance of TiO2 films for inductance
effect is influenced by annealing time and oxygen flow rate. As
annealing time is increased, the inductance of TiO2 film is the more.
The growth condition of optimum and maximum inductance for TiO2
film to serve as sensing device are oxygen flow rate of 15 sccm and
large annealing time. The large inductance of TiO2 film will be
adopted to fabricate the biosensor to obtain the high sensitivity of
sensing in biology.
Abstract: To investigate the applicability of the EDR-2 film for
clinical radiation dosimetry, percentage depth-doses, profiles and
distributions in open and dynamically wedged fields were measured
using film and compared with data from a Treatment Planning
system. The validity of the EDR2 film to measure dose in a plane
parallel to the beam was tested by irradiating 10 cm×10 cm and 4
cm×4 cm fields from a Siemens, primus linac with a 6MV beam and
a source-to-surface distance of 100 cm. The film was placed
Horizontally between solid water phantom blocks and marked
with pin holes at a depth of 10 cm from the incident beam surface.
The film measurement results, in absolute dose, were compared with
ion chamber measurements using a Welhoffer scanning water tank
system and Treatment Planning system. Our results indicate a
maximum underestimate of calculated dose of 8 % with Treatment
Planning system.
Abstract: End-substitution of quarterthiophene and sexithiophene with hexyl groups leads to highly soluble conjugated oligomers,DZ-dihexylquarterthiophene (DH-4T) and DZ-dihexylsexithiophene (DH-6T). We have characterized these oligomers for optical and electrical properties. We fabricated an organic thin film transistor (OTFT) using the above two air-stable p-type organic semiconductor materials. We obtained a stable characteristic curve. The field effect mobility, Pwas calculated to be 3.2910-4 cm2/Vs for DH-6T based OTFT; while the DH-4T based OTFT had 1.8810-5 cm2/Vs.KeywordsOrganic thin film transistor, DZ-dihexylquarterthiophene, DZ-dihexylsexithiophene.
Abstract: Pyrite (FeS2) is a promising candidate for cathode
materials in batteries because of it`s high theoretical capacity, low
cost and non-toxicity. In this study, nano size iron disulfide thin film
was prepared on graphite substrate through a new method as battery
cathode. In this way, acetylene black and poly vinylidene fluoride
were used as electron conductor and binder, respectively. Fabricated
thin films were analyzed by XRD and SEM. These results and
electrochemical data confirm improvement of battery discharge
capacity in comparison with commercial type of pyrite.
Abstract: Curing of paints by exposure to UV radiations is
emerging as one of the best film forming technique as an alternative
to traditional solvent borne oxidative and thermal curing coatings.
The composition and chemistry of UV curable coatings and role of
multifunctional and monofunctional monomers, oligomers, and
photoinitiators have been discussed. The limitations imposed by
thermodynamic equilibrium and tendency for acrylic double bond
polymerizations during synthesis of multifunctional acrylates have
been presented. Aim of present investigation was thus to explore the
reaction variables associated with synthesis of multifunctional
acrylates. Zirconium oxychloride was evaluated as catalyst against
regular acid functional catalyst. The catalyzed synthesis of glyceryl
acrylate and neopentyl glycol acrylate was conducted by variation of
following reaction parameters: two different reactant molar ratios-
1:4 and 1:6; catalyst usage in % by moles on polyol- 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5
and two different reaction temperatures- 45 and 75 0C. The reaction
was monitored by determination of acid value and hydroxy value at
regular intervals, besides TLC, HPLC, and FTIR analysis of
intermediates and products. On the basis of determination of reaction
progress over 1-60 hrs, the esterification reaction was observed to
follow 2nd order kinetics with rate constant varying from 1*10-4 to
7*10-4. The thermal and catalytic components of second order rate
constant and energy of activation were also determined. Uses of
these kinetic and thermodynamic parameters in design of reactor for
manufacture of multifunctional acrylate ester have been presented.
The synthesized multifunctional acrylates were used to formulate and
apply UV curable clear coat followed by determination of curing
characteristics and mechanical properties of cured film. The overall
curing rates less than 05 min. were easily attained indicating
economical viability of radiation curable system due to faster
production schedules
Abstract: In this work we report on preliminary analysis of a novel optoelectronic gas sensor based on an optical fiber integrated with a tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphyrin (TPPS) thin film. The sensitive materials are selectively deposited on the core region of a fiber tip by UV light induced deposition technique. A simple and cheap process which can be easily extended to different porphyrin derivatives. When the TPPS film on the fiber tip is exposed to acid and/or base vapors, dramatic changes occur in the aggregation structure of the dye molecules in the film, from J- to H-type, resulting in a profound modification of their corresponding reflectance spectra. From the achieved experimental results it is evident that the presence of intense and narrow band peaks in the reflected spectra could be monitored to detect hazardous vapors.
Abstract: A SnO2/CdS/CdTe heterojunction was fabricated by
thermal evaporation technique. The fabricated cells were annealed at
573K for periods of 60, 120 and 180 minutes. The structural
properties of the solar cells have been studied by using X-ray
diffraction. Capacitance- voltage measurements were studied for the
as-prepared and annealed cells at a frequency of 102 Hz. The
capacitance- voltage measurements indicated that these cells are
abrupt. The capacitance decreases with increasing annealing time.
The zero bias depletion region width and the carrier concentration
increased with increasing annealing time. The carrier transport
mechanism for the CdS/CdTe heterojunction in dark is tunneling
recombination. The ideality factor is 1.56 and the reverse bias
saturation current is 9.6×10-10A. The energy band lineup for the n-
CdS/p-CdTe heterojunction was investigated using current - voltage
and capacitance - voltage characteristics.
Abstract: Quaternary InxAlyGa1-x-yN semiconductors have
attracted much research interest because the use of this quaternary
offer the great flexibility in tailoring their band gap profile while
maintaining their lattice-matching and structural integrity. The
structural and optical properties of InxAlyGa1-x-yN alloys grown by
molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) is presented. The structural quality of
InxAlyGa1-x-yN layers was characterized using high-resolution X-ray
diffraction (HRXRD). The results confirm that the InxAlyGa1-x-yN
films had wurtzite structure and without phase separation. As the In
composition increases, the Bragg angle of the (0002) InxAlyGa1-x-yN
peak gradually decreases, indicating the increase in the lattice constant
c of the alloys. FWHM of (0002) InxAlyGa1-x-yN decreases with
increasing In composition from 0 to 0.04, that could indicate the
decrease of quality of the samples due to point defects leading to
non-uniformity of the epilayers. UV-VIS spectroscopy have been used
to study the energy band gap of InxAlyGa1-x-yN. As the indium (In)
compositions increases, the energy band gap decreases. However, for
InxAlyGa1-x-yN with In composition of 0.1, the band gap shows a
sudden increase in energy. This is probably due to local alloy
compositional fluctuations in the epilayer. The bowing parameter
which appears also to be very sensitive on In content is investigated
and obtained b = 50.08 for quaternary InxAlyGa1-x-yN alloys. From
photoluminescence (PL) measurement, green luminescence (GL)
appears at PL spectrum of InxAlyGa1-x-yN, emitted for all x at ~530 nm
and it become more pronounced as the In composition (x) increased,
which is believed cause by gallium vacancies and related to isolated
native defects.
Abstract: We have fabricated a-IGZO TFT and investigated the
stability under positive DC and AC bias stress. The threshold voltage
of a-IGZO TFT shifts positively under those biases, and that reduces
on-current. For this reason, conventional shift-register circuit
employing TFTs which stressed by positive bias will be unstable, may
do not work properly. We have designed a new 6-transistor
shift-register, which has less transistors than prior circuits. The TFTs
of the proposed shift-register are not suffering from positive DC or AC
stress, mainly kept unbiased. Despite the compact design, the stable
output signal was verified through the SPICE simulation even under
RC delay of clock signal.
Abstract: This paper aims to fabricated high quality anodic
aluminum oxide (AAO) film by anodization method. AAO pore size,
pore density, and film thickness can be controlled in 10~500 nm,
108~1011 pore.cm-2, and 1~100 μm. AAO volume and surface area can
be computed based on structural parameters such as thickness, pore
size, pore density, and sample size. Base on the thetorical calculation,
AAO has 100 μm thickness with 15 nm, 60 nm, and 500 nm pore
diameters AAO surface areas are 1225.2 cm2, 3204.4 cm2, and 549.7
cm2, respectively. The large unit surface area which is useful for
adsorption application. When AAO adsorbed pH indictor of
bromphenol blue presented a sensitive pH detection of solution
change. This testing method can further be used for the precise
measurement of biotechnology, convenience measurement of
industrial engineering.
Abstract: Optical properties of sputter-deposited ZnS thin films
were investigated as potential replacements for CBD(chemical bath
deposition) CdS buffer layers in the application of CIGS solar cells.
ZnS thin films were fabricated on glass substrates at RT, 150oC, 200oC,
and 250oC with 50 sccm Ar gas using an RF magnetron sputtering
system. The crystal structure of the thin film is found to be zinc blende
(cubic) structure. Lattice parameter of ZnS is slightly larger than CdS
on the plane and thus better matched with that of CIGS. Within a
400-800 nm wavelength region, the average transmittance was larger
than 75%. When the deposition temperature of the thin film was
increased, the blue shift phenomenon was enhanced. Band gap energy
of the ZnS thin film tended to increase as the deposition temperature
increased. ZnS thin film is a promising material system for the CIGS
buffer layer, in terms of ease of processing, low cost, environmental
friendliness, higher transparency, and electrical properties
Abstract: The substrate heater designed for this investigation is a front side substrate heating system. It consists of 10 conventional tungsten halogen lamps and an aluminum reflector, total input electrical power of 5 kW. The substrate is heated by means of a radiation from conventional tungsten halogen lamps directed to the substrate through a glass window. This design allows easy replacement of the lamps and maintenance of the system. Within 2 to 6 minutes the substrate temperature reaches 500 to 830 C by varying the vertical distance between the glass window and the substrate holder. Moreover, the substrate temperature can be easily controlled by controlling the input power to the system. This design gives excellent opportunity to deposit many deferent films at deferent temperatures in the same deposition time. This substrate heater was successfully used for Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) of many thin films, such as Silicon, iron, etc.
Abstract: We prove detailed analysis of a waveguide-based Schottky barrier photodetector (SBPD) where a thin silicide film is put on the top of a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) channel waveguide to absorb light propagating along the waveguide. Taking both the confinement factor of light absorption and the wall scanning induced gain of the photoexcited carriers into account, an optimized silicide thickness is extracted to maximize the effective gain, thereby the responsivity. For typical lengths of the thin silicide film (10-20 Ðçm), the optimized thickness is estimated to be in the range of 1-2 nm, and only about 50-80% light power is absorbed to reach the maximum responsivity. Resonant waveguide-based SBPDs are proposed, which consist of a microloop, microdisc, or microring waveguide structure to allow light multiply propagating along the circular Si waveguide beneath the thin silicide film. Simulation results suggest that such resonant waveguide-based SBPDs have much higher repsonsivity at the resonant wavelengths as compared to the straight waveguidebased detectors. Some experimental results about Si waveguide-based SBPD are also reported.
Abstract: Compare to western cultures, women who smoke in Korea are not tolerated. Korean people are prejudiced against women smoking. In spite of the relative prevalence of sexual equality in South Korea, women too often feel obliged to confine their smoking to only a few public spaces, such as designated smoking rooms, coffee shops or pubs. Korean Confucianism classifies people according to gender and social status. According to Confucian culture, cigarettes convey clear social meanings as well as reinforcing status, age and gender, beyond personal preferences. For these reasons, the significant of people smoking in Korea varies according to their gender. This study will determine reasons for the ongoing sexual discrimination against female Korean smokers thorough analyzing Korean films. Since film is a medium reflects social phenomenon. Roland Barthes- Mythology Theory will be used to analyze films.
Abstract: fibers of pure cellulose can be made from some bacteria such as acetobacter xylinum. Bacterial cellulose fibers are very pure, tens of nm across and about 0.5 micron long. The fibers are very stiff and, although nobody seems to have measured the strength of individual fibers. Their stiffness up to 70 GPa. Fundamental strengths should be at least greater than those of the best commercial polymers, but best bulk strength seems to about the same as that of steel. They can potentially be produced in industrial quantities at greatly lowered cost and water content, and with triple the yield, by a new process. This article presents a critical review of the available information on the bacterial cellulose as a biological nonwoven fabric with special emphasis on its fermentative production and applications. Characteristics of bacterial cellulose biofabric with respect to its structure and physicochemical properties are discussed. Current and potential applications of bacterial cellulose in textile, nonwoven cloth, paper, films synthetic fiber coating, food, pharmaceutical and other industries are also presented.
Abstract: The present work is motivated by the idea that the
layer deformation in anisotropic elasticity can be estimated from the
theory of interfacial dislocations. In effect, this work which is an
extension of a previous approach given by one of the authors
determines the anisotropic displacement fields and the critical
thickness due to a complex biperiodic network of MDs lying just
below the free surface in view of the arrangement of dislocations.
The elastic fields of such arrangements observed along interfaces
play a crucial part in the improvement of the physical properties of
epitaxial systems. New results are proposed in anisotropic elasticity
for hexagonal networks of MDs which contain intrinsic and extrinsic
stacking faults. We developed, using a previous approach based on
the relative interfacial displacement and a Fourier series formulation
of the displacement fields, the expressions of elastic fields when
there is a possible dissociation of MDs. The numerical investigations
in the case of the observed system Si/(111)Si with low twist angles
show clearly the effect of the anisotropy and thickness when the
misfit networks are dissociated.
Abstract: Molecular dynamics simulation of annular flow
boiling in a nanochannel with 70000 particles is numerically
investigated. In this research, an annular flow model is developed to
predict the superheated flow boiling heat transfer characteristics in a
nanochannel. To characterize the forced annular boiling flow in a
nanochannel, an external driving force F ext ranging from 1to12PN
(PN= Pico Newton) is applied along the flow direction to inlet fluid
particles during the simulation. Based on an annular flow model
analysis, it is found that saturation condition and superheat degree
have great influences on the liquid-vapor interface. Also, the results
show that due to the relatively strong influence of surface tension in
small channel, the interface between the liquid film and vapor core is
fairly smooth, and the mean velocity along the stream-wise direction
does not change anymore.
Abstract: For Romania, the fulfilment of the obligations
undertaken as a member state of the European Union in accordance
with the Treaty of Accession requires the effective implementation of
sustainable development principles and practices, this being the only
reasonable development option, which adequately draws in on the

objective is based on a profound analysis of the realities in the
Romanian economy, which will reflect the existent situation and the
action directions for the future. The paper presents an analysis of the
Romanian economic performances compared to the EU economy,
based on the sustainable value (SV) model. The analysis highlighted
the considerable gap between Romania and the EU regarding the
sustainable capitalization of resources, the provided information
being useful to justify strategic development decisions at a micro and
macro levels.
Abstract: Many Thai movies have been very popular
domestically and internationally. Some movies were box office hits
and receiving awards. However, there has not yet been research
about how Thai movies can sell in international markets
The objectives of the research were 1) To analyze the
characteristics of Thai movies that can sell to world audiences; 2) To
investigate the factors making Thai movies into foreign markets. Thai
film professionals were interviewed. Their ideas were analyzed to
find out what factors contributing to Thai movies widely seen in
worldwide markets. Nine foreign audiences were also interviewed to
reveal what characteristics of Thai movies would be well accepted by
the markets.
The results showed that major characteristics of Thai movies
proving successful worldwide were cultural and exotic Thai movies,
outstanding genres, well-known actors, music and songs. Factors
contributing to global market were marketing, qualities of Thai
movies, and financial support from the government.
Abstract: Tomato powder has good potential as substitute of tomato paste and other tomato products. In order to protect physicochemical properties and nutritional quality of tomato during dehydration process, investigation was carried out using different drying methods and pretreatments. Solar drier and continuous conveyor (tunnel) drier were used for dehydration where as calcium chloride (CaCl2), potassium metabisulphite (KMS), calcium chloride and potassium metabisulphite (CaCl2 +KMS), and sodium chloride (NaCl) selected for treatment.. lycopene content, dehydration ratio, rehydration ratio and non-enzymatic browning in addition to moisture, sugar and titrable acidity were studied. Results show that pre-treatment with CaCl2 and NaCl increased water removal and moisture mobility in tomato slices during drying of tomatoes. Where CaCl2 used along with KMS the NEB was recorded the least compared to other treatments and the best results were obtained while using the two chemicals in combination form. Storage studies in LDPE polymeric and metalized polyesters films showed less changes in the products packed in metallized polyester pouches and even after 6 months lycopene content did not decrease more than 20% as compared to the control sample and provide extension of shelf life in acceptable condition for 6 months. In most of the quality characteristics tunnel drier samples presented better values in comparison to solar drier.
