Abstract: One of the major problems in liberalized power
markets is loss allocation. In this paper, a different method for
allocating transmission losses to pool market participants is
proposed. The proposed method is fundamentally based on
decomposition of loss function and current projection concept. The
method has been implemented and tested on several networks and
one sample summarized in the paper. The results show that the
method is comprehensive and fair to allocating the energy losses of a
power market to its participants.
Abstract: Active vibration isolation systems are less commonly
used than passive systems due to their associated cost and power
requirements. In principle, semi-active isolation systems can deliver
the versatility, adaptability and higher performance of fully active
systems for a fraction of the power consumption. Various semi-active
control algorithms have been suggested in the past. This paper
studies the 4DOF model of semi-active suspension performance
controlled by on–off and continuous skyhook damping control
strategy. The frequency and transient responses of model are
evaluated in terms of body acceleration, roll angle and tire deflection
and are compared with that of a passive damper. The results show
that the semi-active system controlled by skyhook strategy always
provides better isolation than a conventional passively damped
system except at tire natural frequencies.
Abstract: The line sleeves on power transmission line connects
two conductors while the transmission line is constructing. However,
the line sleeves sometimes cause transmission line break down,
because the line sleeves are deteriorated and decayed by acid rain.
When the transmission line is broken, the economical loss is huge.
Therefore the line sleeves on power transmission lines should be
inspected periodically to prevent power failure. In this paper, Korea
Electric Power Research Institute reviewed several robots to inspect
line status and proposes a robot to inspect line sleeve by measuring
magnetic field on line sleeve. The developed inspection tool can
reliable to move along transmission line and overcome several
obstacles on transmission line. The developed system is also applied
on power transmission line and verified the efficiency of the robot.
Abstract: This work aims to reduce the read power consumption
as well as to enhance the stability of the SRAM cell during the read
operation. A new 10-transisor cell is proposed with a new read
scheme to minimize the power consumption within the memory core.
It has separate read and write ports, thus cell read stability is
significantly improved. A 16Kb SRAM macro operating at 1V
supply voltage is demonstrated in 65 nm CMOS process. Its read
power consumption is reduced to 24% of the conventional design.
The new cell also has lower leakage current due to its special bit-line
pre-charge scheme. As a result, it is suitable for low-power mobile
applications where power supply is restricted by the battery.
Abstract: A high precision temperature insensitive current and voltage reference generator is presented. It is specifically developed for temperature compensated oscillator. The circuit, designed using MXIC 0.5um CMOS technology, has an operating voltage that ranges from 2.6V to 5V and generates a voltage of 1.21V and a current of 6.38 ӴA. It exhibits a variation of ±0.3nA for the current reference and a stable output for voltage reference as the temperature is varied from 0°C to 70°C. The power supply rejection ratio obtained without any filtering capacitor at 100Hz and 10MHz is -30dB and -12dB respectively.
Abstract: This paper presents a novel method that allows an
agent host to delegate its signing power to an anonymous mobile
agent in such away that the mobile agent does not reveal any information about its host-s identity and, at the same time, can be authenticated by the service host, hence, ensuring fairness of service
provision. The solution introduces a verification server to verify the
signature generated by the mobile agent in such a way that even if colluding with the service host, both parties will not get more information than what they already have. The solution incorporates
three methods: Agent Signature Key Generation method, Agent
Signature Generation method, Agent Signature Verification method.
The most notable feature of the solution is that, in addition to allowing secure and anonymous signature delegation, it enables
tracking of malicious mobile agents when a service host is attacked. The security properties of the proposed solution are analyzed, and the solution is compared with the most related work.

Practical consideration and using the basic and fundamental concept of powers in transmission lines in order to find the economical design are the main advantages of this research. The simulation results of the integrated overall system with different designs compare them base on economical and practical aspects to solve the over-load and loss-reduction.
Abstract: Because nodes are usually battery-powered, the energy
presents a very scarce resource in wireless sensor networks. For this
reason, the design of medium access control had to take energy
efficiency as one of its hottest concerns. Accordingly, in order to
improve the energy performance of MAC schemes in wireless sensor
networks, several ways can be followed. In fact, some researchers try
to limit idle listening while others focus on mitigating overhearing
(i.e. a node can hear a packet which is destined to another node)
or reducing the number of the used control packets. We, in this
paper, propose a new hybrid MAC protocol termed ELE-MAC
(i.e. Energy Latency Efficient MAC). The ELE-MAC major design
goals are energy and latency efficiencies. It adopts less control
packets than SMAC in order to preserve energy. We carried out ns-
2 simulations to evaluate the performance of the proposed protocol.
Thus, our simulation-s results prove the ELE-MAC energy efficiency.
Additionally, our solution performs statistically the same or better
latency characteristic compared to adaptive SMAC.
Abstract: The value of emission factor was calculated in the
older type of Diesel engine operating on an engine testing bench and
then compared with the parameters monitored under similar
conditions when the EnviroxTM additive was applied. It has been
found out that the additive based on CeO2 nanoparticles reduces
emission of NOx. The dependencies of NOx emissions on reduced
torque, engine power and revolutions have been observed as well.
Abstract: This paper proposes fractal patterns for power quality
(PQ) detection using color relational analysis (CRA) based classifier.
Iterated function system (IFS) uses the non-linear interpolation in the
map and uses similarity maps to construct various fractal patterns of
power quality disturbances, including harmonics, voltage sag, voltage
swell, voltage sag involving harmonics, voltage swell involving
harmonics, and voltage interruption. The non-linear interpolation
functions (NIFs) with fractal dimension (FD) make fractal patterns
more distinguishing between normal and abnormal voltage signals.
The classifier based on CRA discriminates the disturbance events in a
power system. Compared with the wavelet neural networks, the test
results will show accurate discrimination, good robustness, and faster
processing time for detecting disturbing events.
Abstract: In order to study the influence of different methods of controlling weeds such as mechanical weeding and mechanical weeder efficiency analysis in mechanical cultivation conditions, in farming year of 2011 an experiment was done in a farm in coupling and development of technology center in Haraz,Iran. The treatments consisted of (I) control treatment: where no weeding was done, (II) use of mechanical weeding without engine and (III) power mechanical weeding. Results showed that experimental treatments had significantly different effects (p=0.05) on yield traits and number of filled grains per panicle, while treatments had the significant effects on grain weight and dry weight of weeds in the first, second and third weeding methods at 1% of confidence level. Treatment (II) had its most significant effect on number of filled grains per panicle and yield performance standpoint, which was 3705.97 kg ha-1 in its highest peak. Treatment (III) was ranked as second influential with 3559.8 kg ha-1. In addition, under (I) treatments, 2364.73 kg ha-1 of yield produced. The minimum dry weights of weeds in all weeding methods were related to the treatment (II), (III) and (I), respectively. The correlation coefficient analysis showed that total yield had a significant positive correlation with the panicle grain yield per plant (r= 0.55*) and the number of grains per panicle-1 (r= 0.57*) and the number of filled grains (r= 0.63*). Total rice yield also had negative correlation of r= -0. 64* with weed dry weight at second weed sampling time (17 DAT). The weed dry weight at third and fourth sampling times (24 and 40 DAT) had negative correlations of -0.65** and r=-0.61* with rice yield, respectively.
Abstract: The ability to detect and classify the type of fault
plays a great role in the protection of power system. This procedure
is required to be precise with no time consumption. In this paper
detection of fault type has been implemented using wavelet analysis
together with wavelet entropy principle. The simulation of power
system is carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC. Different types of
faults were studied obtaining various current waveforms. These
current waveforms were decomposed using wavelet analysis into
different approximation and details. The wavelet entropy of such
decompositions is analyzed reaching a successful methodology for
fault classification. The suggested approach is tested using different
fault types and proven successful identification for the type of fault.
Abstract: In this paper, we propose a side-peak cancellation
scheme for code acquisition of composite binary offset carrier
(CBOC) signals. We first model the family of CBOC signals in a
generic form, and then, propose a side-peak cancellation scheme
by combining correlation functions between the divided sub-carrier
and received signals. From numerical results, it is shown that the
proposed scheme removes the side-peak completely, and moreover,
the resulting correlation function demonstrates the better power ratio
performance than the CBOC autocorrelation.
Abstract: The paper investigates parallel channel instabilities of
natural circulation boiling water reactor. A thermal-hydraulic model
is developed to simulate two-phase flow behavior in the natural circulation boiling water reactor (NCBWR) with the incorporation of
ex-core components and recirculation loop such as steam separator, down-comer, lower-horizontal section and upper-horizontal section
and then, numerical analysis is carried out for parallel channel
instabilities of the reactor undergoing both in-phase and out-of-phase
modes of oscillations. To analyze the relative effect on stability of the reactor due to inclusion of various ex-core components and
recirculation loop, marginal stable point is obtained at a particular inlet enthalpy of the reactor core without the inclusion of ex-core
components and recirculation loop and then with the inclusion of the
same. Numerical simulations are also conducted to determine the
relative dominance between two modes of oscillations i.e. in-phase and out-of-phase. Simulations are also carried out when the channels
are subjected to asymmetric power distribution keeping the inlet enthalpy same.
Abstract: Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a very toxic gas that is produced in very large quantities in the oil and gas industry. It cannot be flared to the atmosphere and Claus process based gas plants are used to recover the sulfur and convert the hydrogen to water. In this paper, we present optical characterization of an atmospheric pressure microwave plasma torch for H2S dissociation into hydrogen and sulfur. The torch is operated at 2.45 GHz with power up to 2 kW. Three different gases can simultaneously be injected in the plasma torch. Visual imaging and optical emission spectroscopy are used to characterize the plasma for varying gas flow rates and microwave power. The plasma length, emission spectra and temperature are presented. The obtained experimental results validate our earlier published simulation results of plasma torch.
Abstract: Combining energy efficiency with renewable energy
sources constitutes a key strategy for a sustainable future. The wind
power sector stands out as a fundamental element for the
achievement of the European renewable objectives and Portugal is no
exception to the increase of the wind energy for the electricity
generation. This work proposes an optimization model for the long
range electricity power planning in a system similar to the
Portuguese one, where the expected impacts of the increasing
installed wind power on the operating performance of thermal power
plants are taken into account. The main results indicate that the
increasing penetration of wind power in the electricity system will
have significant effects on the combined cycle gas power plants
operation and on the theoretically expected cost reduction and
environmental gains. This research demonstrated the need to address
the impact that energy sources with variable output may have, not
only on the short-term operational planning, but especially on the
medium to long range planning activities, in order to meet the
strategic objectives for the energy sector.
Abstract: In this paper, Exp-function method is used for some exact solitary solutions of the generalized Pochhammer-Chree equation. It has been shown that the Exp-function method, with the help of symbolic computation, provides a very effective and powerful mathematical tool for solving nonlinear partial differential equations. As a result, some exact solitary solutions are obtained. It is shown that the Exp-function method is direct, effective, succinct and can be used for many other nonlinear partial differential equations.
Abstract: This paper presents a possibilistic (fuzzy) model in optimal siting and sizing of Distributed Generation (DG) for loss reduction and improve voltage profile in power distribution system. Multi-objective problem is developed in two phases. In the first one, the set of non-dominated planning solutions is obtained (with respect to the objective functions of fuzzy economic cost, and exposure) using genetic algorithm. In the second phase, one solution of the set of non-dominated solutions is selected as optimal solution, using a suitable max-min approach. This method can be determined operation-mode (PV or PQ) of DG. Because of considering load uncertainty in this paper, it can be obtained realistic results. The whole process of this method has been implemented in the MATLAB7 environment with technical and economic consideration for loss reduction and voltage profile improvement. Through numerical example the validity of the proposed method is verified.
Abstract: There are various solutions for improving existing overhead line systems with the general purpose of increasing their limited capacity. The capacity reserve of the existing overhead lines is an important problem that must be considered from different aspects. The paper contains a comparative analysis of the mechanical and thermal limitations of an existing overhead line based on certain calculation conditions characterizing the examined variants. The methodology of the proposed estimation of the permissible conductor temperature and maximum load current is described in detail. The transmission line model consists of specific information of an existing overhead line of the Latvian power network. The main purpose of the simulation tasks is to find an additional capacity reserve by using accurate mathematical models. The results of the obtained data are presented.
Abstract: Along with increasing development of generation of supersonic planes especially fighters and request for increasing the performance and maneuverability scientists and engineers suggested the delta and double delta wing design. One of the areas which was necessary to be researched, was the Aerodynamic review of this type of wings in high angles of attack at low speeds that was very important in landing and takeoff the planes and maneuvers. Leading Edges of the wings, cause the separation flow from wing surface and then formation of powerful vortex with high rotational speed which studing the mechanism and location of formation and also the position of the vortex breakdown in high angles of attack is very important. In this research, a double delta wing with 76o/45o sweep angles at high angle of attack in steady state and incompressible flow were numerically analyzed with Fluent software. With analaysis of the numerical results, we arrived the most important characteristic of the double delta wings which is keeping of lift at high angles of attacks.
