Abstract: With the flourishing development of online shopping,
an increasing number of customers see online shopping as an
entertaining experience. Because the online consumer has a double
identity as a shopper and an Internet user, online shopping should offer
hedonic values of shopping and Internet usage. The purpose of this
study is to investigate hedonic online shopping motivations from the
perspectives of traditional hedonic value and flow theory.
The study adopted a focus group interview method, including two
online and two offline interviews. Four focus groups of shoppers
consisted of online professionals, online college students, offline
professionals and offline college students. The results of the study
indicate that traditional hedonic values and dimensions of flow theory
exist in the online shopping environment. The study indicated that
online shoppers seem to appreciate being able to learn things and grow
to become competitive achievers online. Comparisons of online
hedonic motivations between groups are conducted. This study serves
as a basis for the future growth of Internet marketing.
Abstract: All current experimental methods for determination of
stress intensity factors are based on the assumption that the state of
stress near the crack tip is plane stress. Therefore, these methods rely
on strain and displacement measurements made outside the near
crack tip region affected by the three-dimensional effects or by
process zone. In this paper, we develop and validate an experimental
procedure for the evaluation of stress intensity factors from the
measurements of the out-of-plane displacements in the surface area
controlled by 3D effects. The evaluation of stress intensity factors is
possible when the process zone is sufficiently small, and the
displacement field generated by the 3D effects is fully encapsulated
by K-dominance region.
Abstract: Margin-Based Principle has been proposed for a long
time, it has been proved that this principle could reduce the
structural risk and improve the performance in both theoretical
and practical aspects. Meanwhile, feed-forward neural network is
a traditional classifier, which is very hot at present with a deeper
architecture. However, the training algorithm of feed-forward neural
network is developed and generated from Widrow-Hoff Principle that
means to minimize the squared error. In this paper, we propose
a new training algorithm for feed-forward neural networks based
on Margin-Based Principle, which could effectively promote the
accuracy and generalization ability of neural network classifiers
with less labelled samples and flexible network. We have conducted
experiments on four UCI open datasets and achieved good results
as expected. In conclusion, our model could handle more sparse
labelled and more high-dimension dataset in a high accuracy while
modification from old ANN method to our method is easy and almost
free of work.
Abstract: This paper is aimed to the use of different types of
industrial wastes in concrete production. From examined waste
(crushed concrete waste) our tested concrete samples with dimension
150 mm were prepared. In these samples, fractions 4/8 mm and 8/16
mm by recycled concrete aggregate with a range of variation from 0
to 100% were replaced. Experiment samples were tested for
compressive strength after 2, 7, 14 and 28 days of hardening.
From obtained results it is evident that all samples prepared with
washed recycled concrete aggregates met the requirement of standard
for compressive strength of 20 MPa already after 14 days of
hardening. Sample prepared with recycled concrete aggregates (4/8
mm: 100% and 8/16 mm: 60%) reached 101% of compressive
strength value (34.7 MPa) after 28 days of hardening in comparison
with the reference sample (34.4 MPa). The lowest strength after 28
days of hardening (27.42 MPa) was obtained for sample consisting of
recycled concrete in proportion of 40% for 4/8 fraction and 100% for
8/16 fraction of recycled concrete.
Abstract: Micro-electromechanical system (MEMS)
accelerometers and gyroscopes are suitable for the inertial navigation
system (INS) of many applications due to low price, small
dimensions and light weight. The main disadvantage in a comparison
with classic sensors is a worse long term stability. The estimation
accuracy is mostly affected by the time-dependent growth of inertial
sensor errors, especially the stochastic errors. In order to eliminate
negative effects of these random errors, they must be accurately
modeled. In this paper, the Allan variance technique will be used in
modeling the stochastic errors of the inertial sensors. By performing
a simple operation on the entire length of data, a characteristic curve
is obtained whose inspection provides a systematic characterization
of various random errors contained in the inertial-sensor output data.

dimensional theory of emotions (valence, arousal and dominance).
These emotional sequences - recorded with multimodal data (facial
reactions, speech, audio and physiological reactions) during a
naturalistic-like HCI-environment one can improve classification
methods on a multimodal level.
This database is the result of an HCI-experiment, for which 30
subjects in total agreed to a publication of their data including the
video material for research purposes*. The now available open
corpus contains sensory signal of: video, audio, physiology (SCL,
respiration, BVP, EMG Corrugator supercilii, EMG Zygomaticus
Major) and facial reactions annotations.

Abstract: Heat transfer of leaves is a crucial factor in optimal
operation of metabolic functions in plants. In order to quantify this
phenomenon in different leaves and investigate the influence of leaf
shape on heat transfer, natural convection for pine, orange and olive
leaves was simulated as representatives of different groups of leaf
shapes. CFD techniques were used in this simulation with the
purpose to calculate heat transfer of leaves in similar environmental
conditions. The problem was simulated for steady state and threedimensional
conditions. From obtained results, it was concluded that
heat fluxes of all three different leaves are almost identical, however,
total rate of heat transfer have highest and lowest values for orange
leaves, and pine leaves, respectively.
Abstract: Objects are usually horizontally sliced when printed by 3D printers. Therefore, if an object to be printed, such as a collection of fibers, originally has natural direction in shape, the printed direction contradicts with the natural direction. By using proper tools, such as field-oriented 3D paint software, field-oriented solid modelers, field-based tool-path generation software, and non-horizontal FDM 3D printers, the natural direction can be modeled and objects can be printed in a direction that is consistent with the natural direction. This consistence results in embodiment of momentum or force in expressions of the printed object. To achieve this goal, several design and manufacturing problems, but not all, have been solved. An application of this method is (Japanese) 3D calligraphy.
Abstract: This paper is part of a study to develop robots for
farming. As such power requirement to operate equipment attach to
such robots become an important factor. Soil-tool interaction plays
major role in power consumption, thus predicting accurately the
forces which act on the blade during the farming is very important for
optimal designing of farm equipment. In this paper, a finite element
investigation for tillage tools and soil interaction is described by
using an inelastic constitutive material law for agriculture
application. A 3-dimensional (3D) nonlinear finite element analysis
(FEA) is developed to examine behavior of a blade with different
rake angles moving in a block of soil, and to estimate the blade force.
The soil model considered is an elastic-plastic with non-associated
Drucker-Prager material model. Special use of contact elements are
employed to consider connection between soil-blade and soil-soil
surfaces. The FEA results are compared with experimental ones,
which show good agreement in accurately predicting draft forces
developed on the blade when it moves through the soil. Also a very
good correlation was obtained between FEA results and analytical
results from classical soil mechanics theories for straight blades.
These comparisons verified the FEA model developed. For analyzing
complicated soil-tool interactions and for optimum design of blades,
this method will be useful.
Abstract: The objective of present research paper is to highlight
the importance of measuring advertisement effectiveness in print
media and to develop a conceptual model for advertisement
effectiveness. The developed model is based on dimensions on which
advertisement effectiveness depends and on the dimensions which are
used to measure the effectiveness. An in-depth and extensive
literature review is carried out to understand the concept of
advertisement effectiveness and its various determinants in context of
print media. Based on the insights gained, a conceptual framework
for advertisement effectiveness is presented. The model is an attempt
to uncover the relatively less explored area of advertisement
effectiveness in Indian advertising scenario. It is believed that present
work will encourage scholars and academicians to further explore the
area and will offer conceptual assistance and a fresh direction in the
domain of advertisement effectiveness.
Abstract: The first part of the paper analyzes the dynamics of
the total fertility rate both at the national and regional level, pointing
out the regional disparities in the distribution of this indicator. At the
same time, we also focus on the collapse of the number of live births,
on the changes in the fertility rate by birth rank, as well as on the
failure of acquiring the desired number of children. The second part
of the study centres upon a survey applied to urban families with 3
and more than 3 offspring. The preliminary analysis highlights the
fact that an increased fertility (more than 3rd rank) is triggered by the
parents’ above the average material condition and superior education.
The current situation of Romania, which is still passing through a
period of relatively rapid demographic changes, marked by numerous
convulsions, requires a new approach, in compliance with the recent
interpretations appropriate to a new post-transitional demographic
regime.
Abstract: An Australian manufacturer has fabricated an
innovative GFRP sandwich panel made from E-glass fiber skin and a
modified phenolic core for structural applications. Debonding, which
refers to separation of skin from the core material in composite
sandwiches, is one of the most common types of damage in
composites. The presence of debonding is of great concern because it
not only severely affects the stiffness but also modifies the dynamic
behaviour of the structure. Generally it is seen that the majority of
research carried out has been concerned about the delamination of
laminated structures whereas skin-core debonding has received
relatively minor attention. Furthermore it is observed that research
done on composite slabs having multiple skin-core debonding is very
limited. To address this gap, a comprehensive research investigating
dynamic behaviour of composite panels with single and multiple
debonding is presented. The study uses finite-element modelling and
analyses for investigating the influence of debonding on free
vibration behaviour of single and multilayer composite sandwich
panels. A broad parametric investigation has been carried out by
varying debonding locations, debonding sizes and support conditions
of the panels in view of both single and multiple debonding.
Numerical models were developed with Strand7 finite element
package by innovatively selecting the suitable elements to diligently
represent their actual behavior. Three-dimensional finite element
models were employed to simulate the physically real situation as
close as possible, with the use of an experimentally and numerically
validated finite element model. Comparative results and conclusions
based on the analyses are presented. For similar extents and locations
of debonding, the effect of debonding on natural frequencies appears
greatly dependent on the end conditions of the panel, giving greater
decrease in natural frequency when the panels are more restrained.
Some modes are more sensitive to debonding and this sensitivity
seems to be related to their vibration mode shapes. The fundamental
mode seems generally the least sensitive mode to debonding with
respect to the variation in free vibration characteristics. The results
indicate the effectiveness of the developed three dimensional finite
element models in assessing debonding damage in composite
sandwich panels.

Abstract: In this research the effect of moisture at three levels
(47, 57, and 67 w.b.%) on the physical properties of the Pofaki pea
variety including, dimensions, geometric mean diameter, volume,
sphericity index and the surface area was determined. The influence
of different moisture levels (47, 57 and 67 w.b.%), in two loading
orientation (longitudinal and transverse) and three loading speed (4,6
and 8 mm min-1) on the mechanical properties of pea such as
maximum deformation, rupture force, rupture energy, toughness and
the power to break the pea was investigated. It was observed in the
physical properties that moisture changes were affective at 1% on,
dimensions, geometric mean diameter, volume, sphericity index and
the surface area. It was observed in the mechanical properties that
moisture changes were effective at 1% on, maximum deformation,
rupture force, rupture energy, toughness and the power to break.
Loading speed was effective on maximum deformation, rupture
force, rupture energy at 1% and it was effective on toughness at 5%.
Loading orientation was effective on maximum deformation, rupture
force, rupture energy, toughness at 1% and it was effective on power
at 5%. The mutual effect of speed and orientation were effective on
rupture energy at 1% and were effective on toughness at 5%
probability. The mutual effect of moisture and speed were effective
on rupture force and rupture energy at 1% and were effective on
toughness 5% probability. The mutual effect of orientation and
moisture on rupture energy and toughness were effective at 1%.
Abstract: This paper presents a study the effect of nose radius
(Rz-mm) on cutting force components and temperatures during the
machining simulation in an orthogonal cutting process for titanium
alloy (Ti-6Al-4V). The cutting process was performed at various
nose radiuses (Rz-mm) while the depth of cut (d-mm), feed rate (fmm/
tooth) and cutting speed (vc-m/ min) were remained constant.
The main cutting force (Fc), feed cutting force (Ft) and temperatures
were estimated by using finite element modeling (FEM) through
ABAQUS/EXPLICIT software and the simulation was developed the
two-dimension via an orthogonal cutting process during machining
titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V). The results led to the conclusion that the
nose radius (Rz-mm) has affected directly on the cutting force
components. However, temperature gave no indication or has no
significant relation with nose radius during machining titanium alloy
(Ti-6Al-4V). Hence, any increase or decrease in the nose radius (Rzmm)
during machining operation led to effect on the cutting forces
and thus it will be effective on surface finish, quality, and quantity of
products.
Abstract: Exact solution of an unsteady MHD flow of elasticoviscous
fluid through a porous media in a tube of spherical cross
section under the influence of magnetic field and constant pressure
gradient has been obtained in this paper. Initially, the flow is
generated by a constant pressure gradient. After attaining the steady
state, the pressure gradient is suddenly withdrawn and the resulting
fluid motion in a tube of spherical cross section by taking into
account of the porosity factor and magnetic parameter of the
bounding surface is investigated. The problem is solved in two-stages
the first stage is a steady motion in tube under the influence of a
constant pressure gradient, the second stage concern with an unsteady
motion. The problem is solved employing separation of variables
technique. The results are expressed in terms of a non-dimensional
porosity parameter (K), magnetic parameter (m) and elasticoviscosity
parameter (β), which depends on the Non-Newtonian
coefficient. The flow parameters are found to be identical with that of
Newtonian case as elastic-viscosity parameter and magnetic
parameter tends to zero and porosity tends to infinity. It is seen that
the effect of elastico-viscosity parameter, porosity parameter and
magnetic parameter of the bounding surface has significant effect on
the velocity parameter.
Abstract: Taiwan is a hyper endemic area for the Hepatitis B
virus (HBV). The estimated total number of HBsAg carriers in the
general population who are more than 20 years old is more than 3
million. Therefore, a case record review is conducted from January
2003 to June 2007 for all patients with a diagnosis of acute hepatitis
who were admitted to the Emergency Department (ED) of a
well-known teaching hospital. The cost for the use of medical
resources is defined as the total medical fee. In this study, principal
component analysis (PCA) is firstly employed to reduce the number of
dimensions. Support vector regression (SVR) and artificial neural
network (ANN) are then used to develop the forecasting model. A total
of 117 patients meet the inclusion criteria. 61% patients involved in
this study are hepatitis B related. The computational result shows that
the proposed PCA-SVR model has superior performance than other
compared algorithms. In conclusion, the Child-Pugh score and
echogram can both be used to predict the cost of medical resources for
patients with acute hepatitis in the ED.
Abstract: In this paper, a numerical simulation of a finned store
separating from a wing-pylon configuration has been studied and
validated. A dynamic unstructured tetrahedral mesh approach is
accomplished by using three grid sizes to numerically solving the
discretized three dimensional, inviscid and compressible Euler
equations. The method used for computations of separation of an
external store assuming quasi-steady flow condition. Computations of
quasi-steady flow have been directly coupled to a six degree-offreedom
(6DOF) rigid-body motion code to generate store
trajectories. The pressure coefficients at four different angular cuts
and time histories of various trajectory parameters and wing pressure
distribution during the store separation are compared for every grid
size with published experimental data.
Abstract: Experimental study of natural convection heat transfer
inside smooth and rough surfaces of vertical and inclined equilateral
triangular channels of different inclination angles with a uniformly
heated surface are performed. The inclination angle is changed from
15º to 90º. Smooth and rough surface of average roughness (0.02mm)
are used and their effect on the heat transfer characteristics are
studied. The local and average heat transfer coefficients and Nusselt
number are obtained for smooth and rough channels at different heat
flux values, different inclination angles and different Rayleigh
numbers (Ra) 6.48 × 105 ≤ Ra ≤ 4.78 × 106. The results show that
the local Nusselt number decreases with increase of axial distance
from the lower end of the triangular channel to a point near the upper
end of channel, and then, it slightly increases. Higher values of local
Nusselt number for rough channel along the axial distance compared
with the smooth channel. The average Nusselt number of rough
channel is higher than that of smooth channel by about 8.1% for
inclined case at θ = 45o and 10% for vertical case. The results
obtained are correlated using dimensionless groups for both rough
and smooth surfaces of the inclined and vertical triangular channels.
